I asked if I needed to bring anything and she said "just the dog" and we both chuckled. The very next morning I took my dog to use the self-wash. The lady behind the counter said "we don't do that anymore. She needs to stop advertising that. I said "I just called yesterday" and was met with silence. I have heard several stories of not letting the customers know that it could take most the day before getting their dog in for grooming even though they are the first customer. It is traumatizing for dogs to be at a groomer all day. No excuse for that. Let the customer know it is going to be until later that day before getting their dog in. I had a concerning experience at this grooming business and would like to share my feedback. On April 13th 2022, I dropped off my dog at 7am, as instructed. Starting around 10am I began calling to ask when she would be ready. I was told that since I didn't request a specific pick-up time ,she would be last on the list of dogs that day. I continued calling, and was told she'd be ready by 6:45pm. Unfortunately, they did not start grooming her until AFTER I arrived to pick her up at 6:45pm and did not finish until 7:10pm. Additionally, they asked to provide grooming instructions, lost my initial set of instruction, asked for them a second time, and then promptly ignored all of them. My dog's ears were uneven, one longer than the other. I also noticed that all dogs were allowed to roam around the spa freely without individual kennels. My dog was incredibly stressed out, starving, extremely thirsty, and had to go to the bathroom worse than I've ever witnessed before or since. This made me worry that my dog was not being properly cared for and may have been abused while in their care. Furthermore, I witnessed an employee (possibly the owner?) speaking poorly and disrespectfully about other clients while in my presence referring to one customer a "Retard". Immediately following this, my dog experienced a loss of appetite and became severely ill for weeks with bloody diarrhea resulting in $1500 in emergency vet bills. Even now, over one year later, my dog is still terrified of grooming stations and reacts strongly to any individuals who resemble the groomers who were present that day. Ever since Michelle's Pet Spa my dog requires a prescription of Trazadone to sedate her prior to the groomer in order to prevent her from being disruptive to the groomer and upsetting the other dogs. This was never the case before our Michele's Pet Spa. Whenever I meet someone with a dog I ask about their groomer and any positive/negative experiences. As a result, I have heard many similar negative accounts directly from others who have taken their dogs to Michele's Pet Spa. In fact, I've now heard 3 distinct accounts from former groomers who left Michele's Pet Spa after witnessing acts of animal cruelty there including hitting the dogs. Based on my experience and what I have heard from others, I cannot recommend this business to anyone. I strongly encourage an investigation of this business and appropriate action to be taken to ensure the safety and well-being of the animals in their care. Overall the experience was fine. No major issues, and Michele herself was very friendly. However, I don't see myself coming back. Lemme explain why: facilites, equipment, payment. This place looks very old and is in desperate need of a remodel. Everything just looked dirty and old. It may seem like a small thing to a business owner, but as a customer the aesthetics of a place make it somewhere I either want to or don't want to spend time in. The sprayer for the bath worked fine but was hard to figure out temperature-wise. The washroom left a bit to be desired as well. I liked that the door closed so your dog won't escape if he's afraid of that lifeline, but it was hard to get the right angle sometime because there was only one side. Other places I've been to like this give you 360° access around the tub, which is much better and easier to clean the dog. Supplies were provided in the way of your cleaner, shampoo, and cream rinse. There was also no way to get your dog into the bathtub except to lift him. A little stepstool or something would make it easier, since I have a 74 pound dog. This place does not accept credit cards, and I was pretty surprised by that. There was a very small sign on the counter, but I didn't notice it when I walked in. I would suggest making this more obvious, perhaps even a sign in the window before you enter. Luckily I had cash but what would I have done if not? At the end, she provided a little bandanna to tie around my dog's neck summer which was cute. I tried this place today because I didn't much feel like driving all the way down to 72nd and Pacific because it's a jaunt from mine, but now I know that it is worth the extra distance. read more

Since it's a bit closer to our house and the sign by the road said offered $40 grooming, we thought we'd take our cocker in for an appointment. We love our other groomer, but she's booked far in advance and she's a bit farther away in proximity, so we thought we'd try someone else. We're all for convenience after all. Walking in, they had no record of our appointment and seemed a bit disorganized and disheveled, but had no problems accommodating our appointment. It's a pet grooming establishment, so don't be surprised by the hair flying about EVERYWHERE. Picked up our little guy four hours later. He looked pretty good. The cut was slightly uneven in areas, but no one else seems to notice, which is good - kinda like when you have a bad hair day but everyone else thinks you're hair looks great (or maybe their just lying to me). We took our 1 year old shih poo to michele's about 3 times because we were referred by a work friend and live very close. This is the first review I have ever written, but figured this needed to be shared. The first haircut seemed to go okay, other than our pup getting an ear infection in one ear, which he has been prone to getting. The second time, the cut was not what I asked for and our little guy came home with another ear infection. They also trimmed too close to his incision from his recent fix, and the area became infected. Also, when you come into the groomer, they keep track of your info on a note card, and they had lost our previous card and didn't have any record of us coming in. The most recent, and last time we will ever visit this place, we got the first appointment at 7:30 am. I made sure to warn the groomer about his sensitive ears and to not use water near them. Again, they had lost our note card of our previous visits. They told us about 2 hours before our pup was done, which is what the other 2 cuts had taken. After 3 hours we called the groomer and they said at least 2 more hours (a total of 5). When I finally went to pick my baby up, he did not jump with excitement like usual and was walking hunched over when I took him outside. I figured he was just sore from standing to get groomed for that long. By the next day, our little guy was shaking and scratching both ears and walking so hunched over, he could not even go up the stairs or jump onto the couch. We took him to our vet the next day to find he had a double ear infection and a sprained back. He now has to be on muscle relaxers and cannot jump or go up stairs for 2 weeks. When i asked how our pup did, Michele's pet spa did not inform me of the incident that happened that lead to his back sprain, which I'm sure is what caused them to run 3 hours over their said time. Regardless of if my dog slipped and fell in the tub, or if the groomer dropped him, they should have shared with me what happened, so we could have taken him to get checked immediately, rather than him suffering through 2 days of pain. I will never be returning to michele's pet spa and have called all of my friends with dogs to warn them about this establishment. read more

I've been to Michele's three times with our sweet boy. All times I picked him up, he acted strange... like a puppy left at a kennel far too long. I've been told by every past groomer (he's 8) that he was a super sweet boy, and great on the grooming table (even for a breed that isn't typically). I am never less than thrilled with my experiences at Michele's. The care and expertise my Standard Poodle "Faith" receives when I take her to Michele's All Breeds Pet Grooming is unparalleled. I have owned Standard Poodles for thirty years and Michele's is BY FAR the best quality service and at a ridiculously low price. I paid more a decade ago than I do currently here and the grooming is flawless! The owner, Kelly, is vibrant, friendly, and passionate about dogs and her customers and it shows. All staff members are equally as knowledgeable and friendly. I'm sure they service all breeds as the name says but they really shine when it comes to Standard Poodles...a breed known for needing high maintenance grooming skills! There is higher skill set needed here and they have it down pat. On a more personal note, the owner Kelly is so customer- oriented that she personally took my dog home with her for later pick up when there was a mix up ( on my part!) on their closing time. She could have easily dropped her off at the pound or charged me an extra fee. Instead, she got ahold of me and personally delivered "Faith" back home later that evening. Kelly the owner set the appointment with me told me it would be an in-between grooming which is free. I called her one week before to verify she said we were all set and yes it was free. Kelly never asked me how long it had been since she did the dog. When I arrived at 730am they were closed and they didn't show up for 20 minutes after that..... The girl at the counter takes my dog. A half an hour later I get a call from one of the groomers (not Kelly) and she says I have to pay. She explains that Kelly should have inquired how long it has been since we seen the dog. I told her she did not ask me that and I was not prepared to pay because I am on disability and I get paid only once a month and I had confirmed twice with her that it would be free. I had already paid my bills and the dog had to be done or I would lose my place to live. Well after several phone calls the groomer never called me so I tried to call again....then the receptionist was very rude to me and snotty....it was so bad she was huffing and puffing giving me a n attitude. I am on my death bed my doctor says I will not see 2023. When I picked up the dog she had told me that I waited to long between grooms. I told her I tried to get in twice but the receptionist said you were booked. Then she told me he was a over weight in the butt area and we "talked nicely about the amount of food he needs since I can't exercise him cause I am dying and I live in an apt (he is a therapy dog) While she was doing his nails she was screaming at him I heard it myself and the other groomer said "uh oh" when she realized I heard it. Then when the owner brought my dog out their were two other people in the place.....she scolded me like a child and yelled at me in front of those people. I feed my dog nothing but good kibble with two cooked eggs mixed in he gets about 2 cups per day. He gets ideal pure water (I have a water cooler with cold and hot bottled water) She screamed at me that is too much since he doesn't get a lot of exercise. I brought my dog there. This place is horrible. He had a 9am appointment. They left him in the kennel for 6 hours. I kept calling, they gave me the same excuse, " They were short staff" For 6 hours! " Then she blamed my dog was hard to handle, so they couldn't handle him and they put him back in the kennel. My dog ever since that incident, start shaking when ever he is near a kennel. This place is horrible. For starters you have to pay cash or check which they dont tell you prior to getting your animal. Second they butchered my beagles skin. We had her in for a bath that we maybe do quarterly since she has a waterproof coat and doesnt need frequent washing. Either the shampoo was too abrasive or the combed her roughly because she had scabs all over her skin that took forever to heal and it wasnt fleas or ticks. My pets were not ready at the agreed upon pickup time of 4 to 4:30pm. When we had not received a call by around 6pm, my husband discovered his cell phone was dead. My son called and left a message explaining the situation. Kelli called my son's line and literally screamed at him. She asked, "Do you know what happens to dogs that get left behind?" Her manner was very menacing. He ended the call and immediately went to her shop. She was not there. In fear for my dogs safety, he texted her and told her he would call the police if she did not release the dogs to us. The police asked if she would exchange the dogs for all fees due (grooming and a "boarding" fee for the tardiness). She refused. What she did was inexcusable. Not only was she extremely unprofessional, she took her anger out on our beloved pets by not allowing them to be picked up even though it was completely possible to do so. read more

Avoid This Groomer!!My two dogs were there yesterday from 7:45 to 5! I called at 4 to check in and was basically shouted at that it would be another 25 min. I timed it and went after 25 min only to find my old dog on the floor and she had not even been done yet! My dogs had both been there since 7:45 am!!!My little daughter was with me and I was trying hard to hold my composure as I was very upset. My dogs came home and drank water for 5 min and begged to go outside. I could tell they had not had any food or water and question if they were let outside at all. They only take cash no credit card! I didn't even want to wait for change. I just wanted to get my dogs the hell out of there. Went there because it was convenient. Will never make that mistake again. I have been taking my dogs to Michele's pet spay for well over 2 years. I was going to attempt to use the high powered dryers to help with shedding. I talked to the owner and decided I wanted them to just groom the dogs. My husband had been "shaving" our Sheltie in the summer and she looked horrible! Kelly personally spent time with me explaining what that was doing to her. When I picked up the dogs I was really pleased. The sheltie is now beautiful and her coat is very soft. My other dog is a big "shelter" dog. He loves it. I watch them groom him and he never barks or makes a move. He just stands there and wags his tail when he can:) I will NEVER take them any where else. Their policy of cash only is very clearly stated everywhere I have ever looked. Called ahead to inquire about the self service. Lady on the phone was very helpful. Explained I had worked there many many years ago in it's other location so she knew I was a groomer. Told her the bread of dog I had (Newfoundland) She told me the price. I drove the 3 hours as there is now service like this in my area I have moved to and I have yet to set up my salon. I arrive and bring in my equipment, I didn't hide it, it's a big equipment box. I bring in my 175 pound Hairy dog. They bring me 2 small towels (Syd is big so I blow that off) I sat on the floor and clipped Syds hair before putting him in the bath. I had started bathing him when a "groomer" knocked on the door offering me ear cleaner. When she entered she asked if I was cutting his hair in there. I said yes and she said you can't do that in here. I said ok and she again said in a firmer tone, You can't do that in here the only thing you can do is bath and use the dryer. I again said alright. I dried Syd best I could with the towels in the tub and then used the HV dryer they supply. After getting a good portion of the water off of him I moved him to the floor to finish drying him. Mind you, no other equipment was used other than their dryer at this point. Now being a groomer for over 25 years I have an idea what I'm doing when I'm drying a dog with this much hair and undercoat and also how much hair blows off if you do it right! So should any one else that claims to be a groomer. I finished and told the lady at the counter I was taking Sydney out to the car and would be back to get my stuff. I came back in and packed up, went to the counter to pay and gave a tip and said to give it to whoever has to clean in there cause there was a lot of hair. I did pick up all the hair I had clipped off before the bath and stuffed it in the small garbage cans before putting him in the tub. She said thank you and I went out to my car. I called a friend to meet with her since I was in town. As I sat there on the phone I noticed the "groomer" who had coming in the bathing room was coming to my car. I figured I had left something in there. Boy was I wrong!! I rolled down my window and was hit with " I don't know if you think that is F'ing funny?" I just said "what?" She then went off about how she told me not to do any more grooming in there that their insurance doesn't cover it and they are a grooming shop why would they let me groom my own dog in there? I was shocked, well not really like I stated before I worked there. Any how I explained to her that if she actually knew how to groom she would know that when you have a 175 pound Newfoundland and you use a HV dryer there is going to be a lot of hair that blows off and that I didn't use anything but the dryer after she came in the room. As I drove out I notice another self serve dog wash right next door on Pacific St. I went in there and told them of my issue and they let me come in and finish clipping Syd up so I was happy with the way he looked.
