I probably come here more than I should. I'm obsessed with my cats. They get new toys and treats each time I pick up their food or litter. Staff seems to be attentive and answers questions. They have been clean and orderly each time I visited. read more

Me and my boyfriend have been here multiple times to buy stuff for our pet and they are always asking for donations or for us to sign up. Most of the time we do not donate, but we have noticed that on the card machine that when it asks us about donating it will disappear before we say no. Then when we look at our receipt that I will have the donation on there. This last time my boyfriend went in he saw it happened but noticed her typing. He looked at his receipt in line and confronted her, she did give a refund so that's why I am not naming names. Just always look at your receipt because that is so shady. We will not be coming back here anymore. read more

We have been taking our dogs to get groomed here since they were puppies, but after today we won't be back. Kayla is honestly not very friendly. She always looks miserable and she isn't very nice with my dog. Today we picked up our dogs and mine had cuts on both of his legs and she blamed it on him having bad matting on his legs. If he had matting then why not use scissors to cut out the mats. My cat gets matts in her fur and I am able to cut them out without injuring her. I am very upset and will not be back. If you do take your animal here, please request Tina. She is wonderful and kind to the animals. My advice to Kayla is if your job doesn't light you up, then leave. read more

I took my two small dogs to Petco to have their grooming re-done after a really strange grooming elsewhere. Petco did a wonderful job!! Just what I wanted. read more

This is probably the worst Petco I've taken my dog to for a grooming. They didn't cut my dogs hair right they did a half fast job and plus they hurt/cut my dog with the chippers read more

HORRIBLE customer service.I went in for a quick visit to buy fish, the clerk ended up helping other customers who was standing there, when I called for the service. No acknowledgement whatsoever. Never going here again. read more

Great customer service. I am not from the Modesto area and was looking for Organix puppy food, called Petco directly before stopping. The gentleman on the line was great and offered to see what brands they did have and flavors. It's great people that make a great store and the Petco in Modesto definitely knows that customers come first. Customer service is and will always be key. Great job! read more

This is for their dog grooming. (Book with Mallory!) I have a Chow Chow/Collie Mix with an undercoat and super fluffy hair...I've NEVER been happier with a grooming experience more so than I have with Mallory's. Sasha is a rescue and very shy/timid with new people. She often hides behind me when people approach her. Mallory took all that into consideration, made sure to be at her level and comforted her while Sasha adjusted to the idea of someone else handling her. Within seconds Sasha warmed up to her. I came back 4 hours later, her coat was super fluffy and shiny, her nails trimmed, and best of all her tail was wagging. Thank you Mallory! Sasha can't wait to come back! read more

Extremely disappointed, made appointment, showed up on time....at pick up time the dog had not even been started When I explained my disappointment the groomer "ok, thank you" I won't go back read more

I'd give them zero stars if possible. They have completely ruined my dog's coat. About two years ago we brought in my pomeranian and they sheared her down to her first layer of coat and it has never been able to grow back since. I came back today, giving them the benefit of the doubt that maybe it had just been a bad stylist/day, but today they charged me $44 and they AGAIN ruined the little hair my poor dog as left. Her head is uneven and she now has a bald spot. I highly suggest looking anywhere else if you want people that respect your pet. read more

Plase is oK but can't stands it when peoples maddogging me all the time from the register.

They took our two babies in without an appointment for a "pawdicure". The groomer was very professional and did a really good job.

Very helpful staff. Things can be found at good prices if on sale. The store seems to be a bit old and could use some light but it's fine. Coming here made me want a puppy so bad! read more

Grooming services suckkkkkkkk!!!!!! My dog is 15 year old he was so nervous but decided to let him stay since he was stinky from fishing trip he was pretty dirty and stinky .. honestly looks like they did absolutely nothing to him. Hes better looking when i do his grooming at home.. im so disappointed. All the stress he went through after not seeing me for 3 hours handled by strangers.. never again. I thought it would be allll worth it i was wrong!!! Sorry buddy old man!!! read more

So my last experience here was not perfect, but they worked to make it right. Today we brought both of our boys here and they look and smell so much better. I am truly grateful for the time that Tina took to take care of them and be understanding of their needs. Both of our boys are rescues and need that tender care to know that they are safe. Tina does that in spades. read more

During COVID this year, we paid for dog training service; however, we never went in to receive the service as we decided not to mix as the time was not right. We asked for a refund and they refused to give our money back, after several tries, even though they stated that they would refund us in person. The store manager, Christopher, was not in the slightest way helpful. If I could give the store zero stars for their customer service, I definitely would. This is my first and last time paying for dog service from Petco and any related purchases. Taking my dollar elsewhere. read more

This store is amazing. They go the extra mile to help their customers. The fish department is great.

The girls in the grooming dept were awesome! I had just adopted up a 12 month old puppy from the local shelter and she desperately needed a good bath/brush and a sanitary trim. I planned on taking her to a self wash before the 2 hour drive home but I stopped at This petco in the grooming dept and asked the girls if they would be able to and they squeezed her in and took her of her. Just amazing. read more

Bought some fish here, saw some fish with spots on them but didn't pay too much attention. Picked up a few others from a different tank but a few days later all my fish are covered, tried to treat it but sadly all fish in my tank died. I would not buy fish from again. The disease is called Ich and looks like small white dots. Should of paid more attention, so you know buyer beware. read more

I lost my cell phone in the stores, and the cashiers were so helpful in assisting me in finding it. They went above and beyond to help me! Customers service is always good here, and the associates' friendliness have made this the only Petco that my puppy doesn't get super nervous going to. read more

This is by far the best place to shop for anything pet related. I went to another store for years and never got the service that We get at this store. They all know my pup by name and give the best customer service. In particular I would like to name Pearla, Jess and Tina. They are always smiling and eager to help. read more

Do not recommend this place for grooming. My pup's appointment was at 12pm for grooming and usually at other Petcos they take 2 hours max. My pup wasn't ready until 4pm! When I came in I asked if the nail trimming was done and she said no because she wouldn't let herself be trimmed. So I said okay, I asked if there was any discount for it since I paid for it and they said no it was part of the package. Long wait and not all services I paid for were done. I was so upset and DISAPPOINTED, I just paid and took my pup. Even after being a long time Petco member I definitely won't ever place foot in this store. read more

I am not loyal to any one pet store. I do like the cleanliness of this one... only thing is you do have to wait a bit in lines and they really need to update their store a bit. A newer look doesn't do anything but cosmetic but it does make the shopping experience better. read more

My o My. No one has yelped Petco. Well then I guess I will. Used to go here alot because it was closer then Petsmart. Then for some unknown reason they stopped stocking the cat food our cat liked, so, back to Petsmart. Sure was glad when the new store opened up. Much closer. Petco was a good store. They have everything you need for your pets, food, toys etc. It's just that our cat is very particular what she eats. read more

Where to begin!? I suppose the beginning. A few years back i had (stupidly on my part) bought a mouse as a pet. I bought the cage set up, the food, lots of toys and treats, then time to pick my pet. Petco has their mice in these cages seperated by sex. Or so they claim. I decided that in case i cant spend time with the mouse all the time, id get two so they can keep each other company. I opted for two females. They promised me they were sexed, and they were both females because i was really scared about breeding. I get home and they were doing great. One was pretty shy, REALLY SHY! Every time id try to handle it, it would hide in its tub hide-out. And that was pretty much what it would do when id clean the cage to. The other oner was nicer, Could hold her everything great. Then one day as im about to clean her out i hear a noise. A strange noise...it was....the sound of mousy love making!!! A BOY!!!? One boy...and one girl!!! Needless to say when i came back with my mice they told me there was nothing they could do. They refused to do an exchange, they refused to do a refund. I was stuck. They couldnt even tell me where to take them. They literally said to me at one point "i dont know what to tell you sorry. There's nothing i can do for you." WOW. 14 baby mice later, momma eats ten. I HATE THIS STORE! I HATE MICE! years later, im much more experienced with animals, i work at a pet store, i know how pets are supposed to look. So i check this store out yesterday with my boyfriend to see what they offer in reptile decorations to see if they have live plants because our store doesnt sell live terrarium plants (but we can get them in special order). Their geckos are starving, thing little tails. Their lizards are tiny tiny little mouths with a GIANT slice of veggies in their bowl-untouched. MAYBE its because they cant fit it in their mouths your idiots! Space between the lizards eyes is the size of it's throat. Please tell me how its supposed to even get its mouth around that thick slice of cucumber to take a bite out of it. So lazy! Their mice are supposed to be seperated but alas i can see males in there with females. Someone is about to have my previous experience. They do have a selection on live plants and thats the only reason im giving them a star. Plus they do adoptions for cats which is awesome. They dont hire people who know how to actually take care of pets, especially reptiles. Its sad. read more

I took my dog here to get a haircut and they injured my dog!! They cut too much near his private area and he got infected. We called and they told us to call the manager and the person never got back to us. We called 10 times and no answer. Don't bring your dogs here. Very unprofessional read more

I LOVED this store until my encounter with the manager. I had bought a ferret hammock, that was broken upon opening. I took it back, traded it for another, then THAT one was also falling apart. So I return to Petco and all of the sudden the manager needs to get involved. So I explain to her what had happened, and she said I could only trade it for a new hammock this ONE time. Because Petco's products are faulty, I almost had to let ten dollars go to Petco without a product. I opened the product in front her as she requested, and it was fine. Then she said, this will be a final sale. 0_o ? Why? When twice I had to return because the product was broken. So needless to say, this was POOR customer service which really put me off :( read more

I have been in pet stores that reeked of feces and looked as though portions of the store were doubling as a compost pile. because petco rises above these rather lenient benchmarks, it gets an extra star. bad service, sick animals, poor selection of quality products... if you're going to shop at a chain store, save your time and head to petsmart. if you're looking for local pet supply shops, there are a few quality places to choose from if you're willing to pay the slightly higher prices. petco? petNO. read more

I walked in to the grooming dept at about 1:30 or so on Saturday. I over hear a girl say "stay the fuck still" pretty loudly. I will not be back read more

Just reviving my tank now after Petco in modesto was no help and are very intolerant. They really should care more for their customers, if they get any that are even satisfied, because a store like this is operated and runned in the worst way especially if you can't see that your tanks Cary diseases. But also the fact that they misinform the customers on products and live stock care is like I said before very unethical, so know that this location does not carry the good Petco name. Wish me luck cause from what their product did to my tank and how they misinformed me its gonna take some work. read more

Took my previous dog here many times and everything was fine. today took my 5mnth old yorki to get his first cut. instead of getting what we wanted they scared my girlfriend into getting their puppy package, so really what they wanted to do to my dog not what I wanted. 30 dollars to wash him and cut the hair around his eyes!!!!! We do that every week for free and now he still need a hair cut!!!! read more

My husband and I had spontaneously adopted a baby turtle from the local flea market one day. Soon we'd come to find the how pricey this little guy was actually going to be! Completely worth it, he's growing happily in his new home. We purchased all his needs at this Petco location and found our visit quite helpful. Joe was friendly and very knowledgeable about the reptiles, as well as the fish, and assisted us to all our appropriate needs. read more

I shop here for almost all my pets needs. They are a great bunch of people. The are caring and always able to help me find what I'm looking for and help with new ideas and products. I buy my dog, cat and bird food here, it's always fresh. Animals are my business so it's nice to shop at a place that knows their products and are there if I have questions on food. I have switched to grain free and wanted to know what they have and recommend. read more

I came in to buy some dog food and cat litter little did I know was my total air going to fall asleep. I'm had to get my supplies before a way home because the dog means to eat to. I was holding my sleeping infant on one arm and with the other trying to pick up a huge bag of dog food and 30 pounds of cat litter I was clearly in distress as multiple employees just walked past me and smiled. Employees seem to forget that customer service is a part of their job if it wasn't for people like me they wouldn't have a job. Ever super irritated that not one person offered help I didn't ask for help because I wanted to see how many people would walk past me and just do nothing. Like I said I was clearly in distress holding my toddler that was peacefully asleep and trying to pick up these heavy items. When I got to the cash register again I was not asked if I needed help out nor did I ask. Some of you might think well I should have asked for help if I need it but I think it should have been offered I'm a customer a paying customer I'll be going to a different Petco from now on because they don't sell the dog food anywhere else. I'm just really disappointed that nobody even offered any kind of assistance they just smiled and walked away. read more
