Took my dog in for a bath (@ Petco Madison Ms) that was scheduled for a specific time...only a bath ...did not hear from them for 2.5 hours...waited another hour...still no call. No one answered the phone when I tried calling..decided to go pick him up, he was in a kennel, not bathed, had been in the kennel for close to 5 hours at this point. If you schedule a TIMED appointment for your dog, they should be ready in 3 hours or less. RIDICULOUS. If there is a problem CALL THE OWNER and let them decide whether or not to leave the dog or pick them up and reschedule. SIMPLE. read more

Took my dog in for a haircut. They had me pay before I could see him. AFTER paying is when they informed me that they weren't able to do a full cut because he was uncooperative. Only a partial cut was done. Now I'll have to pay someone else again for something that should have only been done and paid once. Additionally they missed a spot on his head so currently he looks like Alfalfa with a few hairs sticking up. I'm quite disappointed. read more

Purchased a Guinea Pig from the store in Madison,MS. And 5 days later he dies in front of me and my child with what looked like a seizure. My son and my family were heartbroken. My husband called Petco the next day to let them know and they assured us they would replace the Guinea Pig with zero issues. Told us just to come get the New Guinea Pig free of charge to replace our one we lost and he also sent me an email to show when we arrived. I get there and am approached by the General Manager who ends up telling me she will not give us another Guinea Pig Until we go get our dead one and bring it back...she also kept asking about a receipt when we had the email as proof. It was a horrific experience. I did bring him back and she did replace him but we WILL NEVER SHOP AT PETCO AGAIN! read more

Scheduled a grooming appt. but when I arrived they had decided to close the grooming area without notifying me. Manager said they called but I have no missed calls, no voicemails and no emails cancelling this appt. Matter of fact, they even sent a confirmation email over the weekend. But after I spoke to the manager she was kind enough to send me a cancellation email 12 minutes after my appt. time!!! Took off work and lost over an hour of time traveling to and from to get my pet and manager's response was "oh well". Was only going to give their grooming dept. a chance because our regular groomer was booked and it is closer to our house. Last time I will ever go to this store for ANYTHING. Save yourself the trouble and order from Chewy.com. Your pets are not that excited to go to the store with you anyway!!!!! read more

Scheduled a grooming appt at my petco in Madison ms with Lajuan Mclendon (supposedly the manager, how? I don't know). Brought my shih tzu in to be groomed at 8am, he said she was matted on her chest and would try. Got a call about 30 minutes later saying she was biting him and that he would try again later. Okay so at 1:30 I got off work and have had no call, called them to see if she was done and a girl picked up the phone and said "oh yeah did no one call you?" I'm like no. She said Lejuan left but said she got very aggressive and he stopped grooming her but never called me to let me know. First of all she has never been aggressive towards any other groomer we've taken her to. She is a 1 year old little shih tzu that loves people! I know for a fact she was being mistreated by him because when I got there to pick her up, the girl who I spoke with wouldn't get her out of the kennel unless Lejuan was there and made me get her from back there. I saw her in the kennel in the back corner shaking to death!!! Now I know she was being mistreated because she has never done that! He did not finish her and half of her back was shaved with hair hanging off everywhere. FUCKING RIDICULOUS! Everyone do yourself a favor and your dog a favor and DO NOT TAKE THEM TO PETCO( especially the one in Madison)! I took her straight to classy canines in Brandon ms and they got her all fixed up. The guy there said he had no problems with her at all and said he hears a lot of bad things about this Petco! If you love your pets you will not take them to petco! They are abusive! That "manager" needs to be fired because he obviously does not know how to groom dogs!! read more

I have to say that I'm really happy to have a Petco in town. They have forced Petsmart to step up their game and bring in better foods to compete. I head here from time to time if I need anything pet specific and I'm not by Hollywood Feed or can't order it online. They are really nice in the store, but I find Petco (at least in the store, online prices are better) to charge a small fortune for things that are about 15% cheaper at Petsmart or 30%+ cheaper down the road at Wal-Mart. Either way, it is nice to have more than one pet supply store option. read more

This store obviously does not care about their beta fish. There are dead ones floating in their cups. Some have EXTREME fin rot. The water in some of their cups is extremely dirty. I went in two days in a row and there dead fish in their cups each day. This is very off putting to customers who care about their pets. It is sad and negligent. The management needs to change the way they care for their beta fish. read more
