We have used chateau many times to board our dogs and we used to be very impressed with the care and attention our animals received. Unfortunately, the last 2 times we have left our dogs there we have had a, much different experience. When we arrived the whole place smelled like dog urine. When I asked the man at the counter if he had instructions for the dogs, he looked at me like I had 2 heads and looked stoned out of his mind. I began to tell him how to feed them and he didn't write it down. I then asked if he would like me to write it down and he said no. One of my dogs takes medicine and they lost her medicine. I gave them just enough food to make it through the weekend and there was way too much food left over for them to have been feed properly. Both of their dog beds were covered in urine. When they got home, each dog drank a gallon of water like they hadn't had any all day. Long story short, we will not be leaving our animals here anymore. read more

DOG LOVERS PLEASE READ!!! So, Wednesday around 3:00pm Lindsey and I dropped Mongo our Dane off at the local "doggie hotel" with three bags of dog food (one for Wed. night, Thurs. morning, and Thurs. night) with plans of picking him up Friday morning. When dropping him off I gave the keeper his food, gave a 10-12 minute explanation of why he eats a certain food and his schedule, and watched her type the instructions into the computer. When we went to pick him up, the lady (which I've never seen before) gave me back one bag of food. I asked, "why does he have a bag left over?" She said she didn't know, that she had fed him that morning (Friday AM) and Thursday evening. Meaning, my dog went from Wed. AM when I fed him until Thurs. evening when she fed him 36hrs no food. When I started asking questions she had no answers only that she wasn't there. I told her I needed an owner to call me ASAP. When she called her excuse was that he was fed some food off the shelf that they had and assured me he had been fed. I then questioned who fed him and low and behold it was the same woman I had given the explicit instructions to on how and when to feed him (remember that when I gave these instruction it was less than 2 hours before feeding time.) I told the manager/owner that I call bullshit that there is no way she forgot about our 10 minute conversation on his feeding schedule and about his grain allergy that she forgot in two hours about our conversation. Remember, we aren't talking about an average dog, Mongo is always the biggest dog there, not like you would confuse him real easy. When I told her that I didn't believe her, that it sounds like they were trying to cover their ass, all she could say was how understaffed they were and how hard it was to find good help. I'm sorry, but if I was trying to assure a customer of no wrong doing, the last thing I would tell them is how poorly staffed we are! I would assure the customer that there was no wrong doing and provide an explanation (sorry but to me this screams negligence) . Not even a sorry for ALLEGEDLY feeding my dog some shit food after my explicit instructions. Also, had another time (same place) they were going to let us pick up our dog when the night walker showed up and guess what, THEY NEVER DID! this means my dog did not get let out (or any of the other dogs) from the time they closed until the AM walker came in. It is hard enough to find a decent place to take care of a large breed and it seems to have gotten a little harder. I know many of my friends have ties to this place but when things don't add up then their is a problem in the values somewhere. I would love to put their name in this but since I have no solid evidence, only a bunch of statements that don't add up I won't. Just use caution when choosing a chateau for your dog to stay in because it appears they screwed the pooch. read more

A bit pricy for boarding, but great for grooming. I have not been disappointed.

I boarded my sweet puppy with this place for 4 days. I paid for the upgraded hotel up front. When I picked her up she was covered in feces. I was so upset and demanded to get a call back from the owner. I called three days in a row and never got a return phone call. I do not know what happened in that horrible place but she died 1 week later. I blame this boarding kennel. She was not even a year old and was in perfect health when she arrived. I think they dropped her out of the raised kennel. It was around 4 feet off the ground. read more

I was very disappointed. My dogs bedding and blankets were wet with urine so I had to just trash everything and buy new. He was scratching bad and making sores on himself so took him to vet and he had fleas which I've never had a flea problem until he went there. I used the Madison location but will never again . read more

They told me to drop my dog off at 11 am we dropped him off right at 11 they said my dog would be done by 3:30 I came to pick him up and he wasn't done they didn't even start on him I asked why and the "manager" told me the groomer didn't show up yet and that he only had 1 groomer for both of there locations And they he was on his way he would be 15 minutes so 45 minutes went by I asked to talk to the owner and the manager told me the owner is in the military and he couldn't contact him but he would eventually call me about an hour went by and the groomer finally showed up with two of his friends that we're coming to " hang out" with him and I took my dog and left with no grooming still haven't Hurd from owner...DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE!!!!!!! read more

I boarded my 3 dogs here and it was a horrible experience. When I picked up my dogs, their linen was gone after asking about it , it was brought to me reeking with urine and stool. apparently my dogs had not been walked. MY female is on seizure medication while my male is on thyroid medication. There was more meds remaining than should have been so apparently they did not receive their meds either. my other male peed after letting him out like he had not peed in several days. I paid a large sum of money, in fact we paid in advance for them to be cared for. Their bed linen also had stool in it, I threw everything away. I REGRET not looking at the reviews prior to their boarding, apparently this is a common practice for them. I will never board them there again or recommend anyone else boarding their pet there unless you really hate your pet. read more

Do not leave your dog here!!! I dropped my dog off on a Friday afternoon to be boarded for one night while I went out of town. A friend, who knew things about this place that I did not know, found out my dog was here and decided to pick her up and keep my dog them self. Without calling me, the Chateau let someone else pick up my dog not even 3 hours after I dropped her off to be boarded for the night! They just let someone walk right out with her! I am glad my friend got her out of there. They knew of cases where this place had gotten into trouble over abuse and death of the dogs staying there. Do not take your dog to these people!! read more

Brought my dog to be boarded and groomed over 4 day weekend to their Brandon location. I had some concerns when dropping her off because another dog busted out of kennel and used bathroom all over, but there was nothing I could do because we were on our way out of town. When my husband picked her up after 9am (they open at 7) my dog had to use bathroom so bad it was like she was not taken out that morning! She was also not groomed. I was told the groomer was running late. I asked for a manager to call and the groomer called saying my dog was not scheduled until the day I was picking her up!!! He also told me the owner would call me. When a few hours passed and still no call, I messaged on Facebook. I was told the owner was military and unreachable. I am a veteran and my husband is a veteran. There is someone in your place to act on your behalf when you have to be away. I was then told, "I picked her up to early" and "I was looking for a discount". DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE! They are very unorganized and unprofessional! No one has yet to call me this was all done over Facebook!! I will go somewhere else. read more

I have been happy boarding my 5 lb maltipoo with Chateau La Pooch for years until the past two times I have boarded my dog there. This last time, he stayed for 7 nights. When I dropped him off, I explained to them that he eats one Cesar dog food around 4:00 each day. I had 7 containers in his bag. When I picked him up this week, his bag still had 5 containers left and he smelled so bad I thought I was going to be sick. Not only did they not feed him appropriately but they apparently did not take him out to relieve himself very often. His fur was sticky and he smelled of feces. I was appalled! I immediately scrubbed him down as soon as I got home and fed him. I will never take my dog to that place again. I don't know if they are under new management or what is going on. It used to be a nice place but not anymore. I'm still upset my dog was treated so badly. He also came down with kennel cough after coming home a few days later. read more

this place is absolutely disgusting. we boarded our dog here for 5 days and when we picked him up his dog bed was soaked in urine, probably from another dog before him that they never cleaned. the staff is very dog unfriendly. they don't even interact with the animals. he was also supposed to get a bath and when we picked him up he stunk SO bad it was awful. pretty sure they don't clean anything and I wouldn't be surprised if they barely took the pets out. bottom line- don't board your pet here. read more
