Wasn't greeted cared to much about their phone (cashier) restroom was your worst nightmare (those horror Erie truck stops we all dread) to be polite because this is public (#2) all over floor wall and outside of the stalls door. Told cashier when checking out you might wanna get someone to clean the RR they laughed and said it's on the list. Went back to their phone. Grabbed dog food, store layout isn't labeled great so was walking around like a lost puppy found it after 10 minutes of searching. Next task was finding a tooth brush for the dog they had some but not the brand or style we've used previously (have purchased in this store but in Colorado) There were a grouping of techs in scrubs (work badges for Petco) just gossiping about a girl who was doing unethical things and again wasn't greeted just given the cold shoulder Now to check out. Cashier same as before no greeting was told give me your number not asked. I gave it charged me double for everything I had to circle back into the store after noticing I was charged twice for everything. I used Apple Pay so because who carries a wallet. Couldn't even get fully into store without having to contend with people and their large out of control dogs lunging at my small service dog. Literally no escape. Place was filthy. When I just wanted to get out the stupid entrance door won't let you exit! Ghetto hand written sign saying use side door, so had to go back into unsafe space just to leave! When I arrived at 1pm they told me it'd be a 30 minute wait, was frustrated but understood maybe there were other walk ins. Patiently waited and then when I was finally called in they got my pets name and informed me they lost her vaccination history and I needed to provide it to them to get her groomed. I live 30 minutes away and would've had to drive all the way back again to get it with my dog who is already terrified of driving making this a 2+ hour nail trim experience. I had a really rough experience when I came to get my dog groomed. After booking my dogs groom appointment online, I called to make sure everything will be good to go before I drag my 2 babies and my dog down there. No one answered or ever called me back so I decided to just go anyway in hopes they can groom my dog. When I arrive, I had my baby in a stroller, my toddler, and my dog who was very scared and not wanting to go into the building. I was OBVIOUSLY struggling to get into the door and the lady at the front desk of the grooming section just sat there and watched me completely struggle to get into the door and didn't help hold the door open or anything. After about 2 minutes of struggling I finally get into the groom lobby and the unhelpful lady at the front desk can't even look at me in my face and asks " do you have an appointment?" Not a "hi how are you" or even looked at me. I'm sorry, but if I'm about to leave my scared fur baby with someone, can they at least have the decency to look me in my face and say hi? No I didn't get that decency. I was about to just walk out from that alone but decided to at least keep taking to her. Luckily he couldn't get groomed and it was probably for the best! Glad I didn't leave my dog in the care of someone who just simply wasn't kind. Customer service is important, especially if I'm leaving my precious dog with them. Make people feel welcomed and comfortable is free and easy to do, yet I didn't get that. It had everything we needed for our new pup and offered a few different brands that we couldn't find at PetSmart or on Chewy. People complain of a smell, but it's got a lot of different animals and pet products that contribute to it. It's the smell of dog food, straw, aquariums, terrariums, etc. To complain about it is like walking into a cow barn and getting mad that it doesn't smell like roses. The handful of employees we encountered on Sunday were helpful and checkout was efficient. I will probably have regular visits to this location. read more

I'm absolutely dumbstruck, I have come to this Petco for everything since I first got my puppy and even before for my other animal. I've gotten nearly everything from the store, and decided to do her vet visits here with Vetco. The first interaction was absolutely amazing, the girls were wonderful and they treated my dog very gently, but the second Interaction was absolutely appalling and disgraceful. The larger girl with gang tattoos, Priscilla decided to walk up, yank the leash out of my hand without a word put my dog in a chokehold instead of letting her lay down like we did last time, and I was informed that the girls before didn't know what they were doing, and that this was the proper way to handle a dog. When I told her that she was scaring my puppy in her second vet visit of her life. I reached my hand out to comfort the dog, and I was told only once to remove my hand on the side of my head that I am after a decade in the military I then muttered WTF under my breath, and was immediately told that if I didn't like their services to go find a different vet. Then raise your voice and started yelling at me about the way things were supposed to be done, I had to call out to her three times to stop yelling, and when she finally stopped harassing me, I walked away with my dog just to hear her talking shit for the next five or six minutes while I waited in line at the cashier. When I asked for a supervisor, Priscilla went to the end and started giving me glares And cussing at me under her breath while on her phone. I called out to her, asking Precious to stop following me and staring at me like that and she just threw her arm up in the air while I was trying to speak to a supervisor because of Priscilla the entire store was disrupted for a minor miscommunication issue, that could've been de-escalated very professionally. Goes beyond lack of professionalism and into harassment and attempted intimidation. If that's how Petco ropes people in, getting us to pay for the services of the beginning, then treating us like shit after they've gotten our money, I will spread the word far and wide to stay away from this predatory behavior! PART 2: I walk out of Petco to leave this review and I'm sitting in my car with my puppy, And after I post my review, I put my car in Drive to start leaving and in my rearview mirror, I see four of the employees, Waving flipping me off and taking pictures of my vehicle. They charged me for 4 rounds of shots, when she only needs 2. They continued to administer the wrong shot into my puppy after asking them about it multiple times. We come here because it is so close to our house, but that's pretty much the best thing I can say about it. It doesn't make sense that the grooming services open before the store and no one tells you that. So one time I waited past my grooming appointment time because the front door to the store was locked and there was no way in. No one gave them that heads up. Eventually when I could reach someone they told me that's why they leave the outer door open so people can get into the groomer before store hours. This time I got here and came into the groomers through the unlocked door and waited past my appointment time inside the grooming office. The doors to every other part of the store were also open so someone and their kid entered after me. About 10min later someone from the store noticed that someone was walking around the store. The told them to leave and then asked me to close the door behind me. As if I am responsible for securing the store?! Either align your store hours to the grooming or lock the doors that go to other parts of the store or monitor. At least when the person from grooming came she was apologetic for running a little late. read more

First of all, I LOVE the staff at this store. They are ALWAYS amazing. Christine is awesome with my dog in grooming, so much so that I travel farther just to have Christine work on my dog. I love Christine. I also love the other staff, very kind and caring. The problem I am having is with the store itself and vital care. Store issues: The store is understaffed and they struggle with employee retention. The people they do manage to keep around are really great though (see above). This store never really feels clean and doesn't stock my pets favorites. A couple of the freshpet food items I've gotten here have also smelled "off" after opening. If you go to petsmart nearby, you get a clean feel with more variety and better quality. I also signed up for vital care after speaking with a manager at this store, only to find out now 7 months later vital care is no longer honoring its original terms. I have been having vital care issues since October 2021 and spent hours on the phone and in chat at this point. They even opened up an IT ticket. You do not want to sign up for vital care, and you do not want to deal with their customer service. The customer service is outsourced, and you get different answers from everyone you talk to. You just cross your fingers and hope you get someone competent and who can speak english clearly. But, it's a shot in the dark. Summary: love the staff but management, the store, vital care, and customer service in general are not worth it. Save yourself time and hassle and go to petsmart! read more

I am done with Petco! Specifically this store. I have shopped at Petco for years but the customer service has gone way down hill. There is absolutely no regard for customer satisfaction. My husband purchased a FURminator for our 3 Labs. After getting feedback on the product, I decided it wasn't something we would use. It sat in my car unopened and in the Petco bag for 1.5 months until I finally had the time to return it. Apparently there's a 30 day return policy that is iron clad and absolutely cannot be bent. I was not aware of the 30 day policy and was shocked the short window for pet products. Normal retail stores are around 60-90 days, so 30 days didn't even cross my mind. Jordan, who claimed to be the General Manager was no way going to consider taking the return. Didn't even offer me a store credit that I can use toward something else. She just put her foot down. I left the store and called customer service. I was placed on hold for 20 min waiting for a supervisor until I ended up hanging up. This is no way to treat a customer who spends an average of $200-$300 per month at Petco (my 3 labs are spoiled with constant toys and eat only the best). It's unfortunate that Petco is willing to lose a customer over a $40 item. I will be shopping at Petsmart from now on. read more

Clearly this store doesn't check inventory. If you purchase any food here for your pet make sure you check the date because they definitely don't. We just bought this cat food (it's July 2020 and the expiration dates are from July and March 2019). We were refunded but the fact that this happens is just gross. Used Vetco services for my dogs vaccinations. The staff was wonderful absolutely amazing. The issue is they dont publish the cost and its very expensive compared to the vet and other clinics. What should of been $75 to $80 was about $150. So charge what you like but be more transparent so consumers can make informed choices. read more

Absolute joke. Went there to buy toys for our cats for Christmas and ended up in customer service limbo at the register, due to the always potent combination of zero empathy cashier and oblivious, self-centered and shameless customer. Before I get to that, though, I have to ask why, oh why, was there only one cashier working during the last Sunday before Christmas? What the hell was store management thinking? You can't make money if there isn't anyone there to transact with. Hopefully they'll figure that out at some point. Back to this evening's botched experience, where we found ourselves in line behind some obnoxious lady, asking if she can pay with PayPal. Upon finding out that she can't, she decides she wants to go out to her car to get cash instead of using a credit card (yeah, that seems totally legit...) so we all have to wait in line for this cretin to scrounge up some change in her seat cushions or something. Eventually this woman ambles back into the store (in no hurry, of course) and wants to use her loyalty program. You know where this is going; she tries two phone numbers, which she has to painfully articulate several times each, and no dice on either of them. She settles on paying without the loyalty program, then when she hears the total is $27, she of course gets triggered. "What?! But online it's $8, not $27," to which the cashier tells her, "But the in store price is $27 so..." and it just goes in circles from there. Endlessly. By this point there were four other people in line behind this woman, and we were all just standing there in absolute disbelief at what we were witnessing. Not only the fact that this debate is taking place, or that we had to wait for her to find change in her car, then try multiple phone numbers and all that, but that there was zero acknowledgment of what we were putting up with to try and spend money there. No empathy, no attempt to get a manager or keep the line moving. After a few minutes of this nonsense, my wife and I threw our hands up, I said loudly, "Screw it, this isn't worth my time," and we put our items back and walked the hell out. Cashier didn't even flinch, offered no apology or even any reaction at all. Couldn't have given less of a shit if she tried. All the while, the customer just kept ranting about her $8 online price. Here's an idea, try calling a manager next time, or tell this sort of problem customer to either pay the in-store price or get the hell out of the way for people who actually want to spend money. It's not easy choosing dog food when there are so.many choices. I saw a young man who was an employee. Overwhelmed and not even knowing where to start I sighed. He looked at me and tried to dart away. I stopped him and asked for my normal brand. He informed me they didn't carry my brand and kept on walking! I stood there dumbfounded! Really? I don't know what Petco these photos are from, but this Petco is pretty lackluster. Grooming looks like a little hole on the wall and training isn't really present. As normal, it smells. I think it's the ferrets and the fact that they house too many pets per cage. I've even seen a dead white mouse under a pile of live white mice...like it had been suffocated by the mass. The employees seem like they are bored and just there for the paycheck. Saltwater aquariums are a nightmare, and bugs everywhere around the reptile section. Not worth the effort really. read more

My dog was barking at other dogs cause he was all excited you know my dog is not going to hurt anybody.. So the manager lady told me that we can not get ur guys picture taken with your dog and I will give you a refund and you know this lady should be more patient with dogs especially if they're still puppies..... A couple of weeks ago my wife and I went into the Petco Store off of W Behrend Drive in N Glendale, AZ. We needed urinary cat food which we normally purchase at the local Veterinary Hospital, but instead we decided to buy it at Petco. We went into the store and decided on Purina Cat food in the large packaging. I brought it home and put the package (as we always did) into our Pantry. I opened it, and immediately noticed some sort of webbings around some of the food. I didn't think anything of it, and proceeded to give the food in cat bowls for the two cats we have. The cats tried the food, and after a couple of days rejected it. They did not eat it. We then gave them other food which they did eat. A week went by and all of a sudden we started to have moth like bugs flying around in our pantry. We investigated and to our surprise, the Purina Cat Food we purchased was found to be infested with larvae. The moths were hatching and not only was the cat food contaminated, but now my pantry and regular food too. They (moths) were everywhere! The next day I returned the food to the Petco Store. The Manager was 'not surprised' when I told him it was infested and contaminated. In fact, he said Purina products are known for this!! I was 'shocked' at his response!!! He provided me a refund, and I left. After a week, I still have these damn flies in my pantry. I called a professional exterminator to spray which cost me $100. I can't believe a reputable store and/or company sells this knowing full well, it's contaminated. I will NEVER set foot in a Petco Store again!!!! (as my thumb and forefinger are instinctively squeezing both nostrils together) I'm not sure what smell that was that hit me in the face while walking through the front door, but whatever it was, I hope it doesn't stick to my clothes. Some type of mix between urine and reptile???!!! Regardless, I stayed long enough to realize their prices we're just as inflated as the other guys, so I wont be back. Even the clearance stuff by the front door wasn't priced low enough to make me want to endure the "WHAT THE FUNK" smell any longer. Too bad. I did happen to notice they had several cats up for adoption. Those were reasonably priced, but I've already rescued 3 and bringing another adult cat into my insane asylum would only create even more mayhem. read more

We connected with this Petco when I was looking for Puppy training classes, for our 3 mo old Golden Doodle. Andy, our trainer, worked with us regarding scheduling and we had the pleasure of taking his 12 week puppy course. My husband and I found Andy to be exceptional with all breeds of dogs. The classes were fun, yet very instructional. As with all training, the whole "family" learned a lot! We have also had our Doodle groomed here. They did a great job and we look forward to our next visit. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. read more

My review will be for the Grooming site within this Petco location. I took my dog into Petco Grooming for the second time to be groomed and the appointment was at 2pm. I thought I'd shop the store and wait for my dog during her appointment. It couldn't take more than 45 minutes to an hour, right? Nope! Once I was done shopping around the store I went to check the progress of the groom. The groomer was gone and I could see my dog in a kennel waiting to be serviced. Also, my dog is a rescue and is afraid of being in a kennel, cage, crate. I continued to wait and the groomer returned at 3pm. She said, "Oh, have you been waiting the entire time? A groom takes two to three hours." I wasn't sure how to respond because I was upset but I didn't want her to know and then rush through the groom or "accidentally" clip my dog. I asked her when she thought she'd be done and she said, "I'm off at 4 so she'll be done by then." Ok, she'd be done in AN HOUR. I headed home without my dog at 3pm and then had to return at 4pm when the initial appointment was at 2. I thought it was ridiculous for the groomer to schedule an appointment clearly during her lunch break. Sheesh!!! All in all, she did an ok job on the groom. I would give a lower star rating for the grooming portion because of the lack of customer service, but I'll return to the store because other Petco employees were fantastic and helpful. It's too bad because the first time I visited the Petco groomers last June it was such a positive experience, it's close to home and reasonably priced. I'll visit this Petco again, but I will be seeking a new groomer. Bad scheduling and bad customer service speaks volumes. read more
