What a mind numbing experience having to wait in line 25 minutes for two people to check out

We tend to purchase dog food from this Petco location since the prices are very reasonable. This time, we submitted an online order for a small bag of dog food and dog treats for pick up at this location. The pick up went smoothly despite the fact that I showed up way too early. I actually didn't give them enough time to pick our order. I waited near the entrance for a couple of minutes while they picked it. The employee then verified that the pick up person was in my name and off I went. It was all pretty straight forward. The customer service has always been good in my experience. read more

So I am a new pet parent. My son and I have two kitties and I was so excited about coming here to get their litter box. But they didn't have the system I wanted however that isn't the reason for the 1 star. Upon entering an associate was exiting. Had I not said anything to her, she wouldn't have mumbled a word. There was a guy at the register who looked at me as I entered and again said nothing. As I was walking through the store looking for the litter box aisle, I passed several associates and neither of them said anything as well. It looked as if they had just received a shipment and they were restocking but to some degree there should still be some tidiness. As I walked through there were some end caps and displays that were filled with the plastic from the shipments. Pallets were everywhere. The roof was leaking and instead of mopping the floor, they put a mop, a mop bucket and regular bucket in the area of the leak; yet it wasn't catching water. Which the water was still running into the aisle. This was my first time at this location and to be honest it will probably be my last. read more

Today my wife dropped our Dog Lola for a scheduled 2pm appointment. The Groomer Genevieve A  said that it "will be a long time." At no time did the groomer Genevieve indicate that it would be 6.5 hrs before she began the grooming. Our dog was left in a cage for over 6 hours and when my wife showed up at 7:15pm Genevieve  said that she wasn't ready and never said that Lola had not even been started on. Take note Petco closes at 9pm. Lola was dropped off at 2PM for an appointment and was not started on until 8'30pm!! When questioned if the dog had urinated in 6.5 hrs , Genevieve answered that the dog had urinated in her cage. My wife spoke with the store manager at 8:30pm to voice her concerns. When confronted Genevieve had an attitude to and gave an excuse that her management overbooked to many appointments. Genevieve was instructed at the time of drop off of the contact phone number. Then at 8:48pm Genevieve called me because she couldn't find my wife's phone number. When I questioned her about this unacceptable time frame, Genevieve hung up the phone on me. NOTE THAT LOLA WAS DROPPED OFF AT 2PM AND HAD NOT BEGUN BEING GROOMED UNTIL 8:30PM AS WITNESSED BY MY WIFE. AT APPROXIMATELY 8:48PM , LOLAS GROOMING WAS COMPLETE. TOTAL OF 18 MINUTES RUSH JOB. This rush job was the worst! Genevieve was instructed by my wife not to shorten the length of Lola's ears. Genevieve chopped off Lola's ears to an inappropriate short length. Lola's entire cut including tail is uneven. Looks like a HATCHET JOB that took 18 MINUTES. Genevieve A. shouldn't be grooming any animals ever. SHE WAS UNTHOUGHTFUL AND LACKED THE COMMON SENSE TO NOTIFY THE DOG OWNER OF AN EXTENDED DELAY. SHE WAS UNAPOLOGETIC. SHE IS AN UNSKILLED GROOMER. Lolas has been going to Petco Doral for over 2 yrs and this has never happened. Be sure that every dog owner in Doral and Instagram will hear about this. read more

I took my dogs to get groomed today , and arrived earlier hoping to get accommodated. The girl who attended me said , wow , you're really early with a nasty attitude. She has long blond hair and I was unable to catch her name. She was rude , unapproachable and spoke to me as if I was a bother to her. When I told her I was just going to leave instead of booking an appointment for next week, she said ok , have a nice day in a condescending tone , turned her back and told the groomer that her appt had cancelled. Gustavo is the only one that knows how to treat your dog and communicate with the clients . This is my second time trying with the other staff and they leave the dog in the cage for hours!!! I had an appointment , call 2 hours later and she is mad that I'm calling and asking because it can take 3-4 hours and it has only been two hours that I can't rush the process and they work at various dogs at the time and I tried being nice again and explaining that I just wanted to check and have an idea because I don't leave as near that I wasn't rushing anything and she said we will call you me hung up on me . At one point we had a zoo. Two dogs, one cat, and a betta fish. Ok so that isn't a zoo but it is a menagerie. So where do you go when you need certain supplies and have to shop for all of the animals? Why PETCO of course! They have a very complete selection of food, beds, products, etc for all animals. What impressed me is that they had the medicine I needed for my Betta. Quite a few places didn't have Maracin 2 and in one specialty fish store they asked me why I was bothering to purchase $20 medicine for a $3 fish. Needless to say they didn't have the medicine anyway (my $3 fish lasted 4 years because I did bother to take care of him by the way). Anyhow I found it here, plus all kinds of Anti- Allergen wipes, sprays, and liquids for my cat, a cornucopia of catnip for him as well. He does love his catnip. For my dear Roxie they have all kinds of wonderful dog products. Now we don't have that many pets but still return here for our pets needs. This is my go to place to get pet stuff. I've been going to Petco for the longest time and always have a positive experience. The fish tanks, hamsters cages etc. are always clean. Unfortunately, I might randomly find deceased or sick looking bettas. I wish bettas could be placed in larger tanks. read more

This review is based solely on what could've been (but wasn't because of pure ignorance) a grooming appointment. Aside from the unacceptable amount of time it took for my call to be answered by a groomer, the call was finally picked up by a lady who immediately greeted me in Spanish and was clearly trying to make it a short call. I could tell that she was a little older, so me asking her to switch to English was not happening. I explained that I have a 50 pound husky and wanted to inquire about the grooming packages. That's when I knew the experience was over before it even started. She said the package for huskies included a bath, nail trimming, ear cleaning (all the stuff I was expecting) and a HAIRCUT if I wanted one. Jesus take the wheel; a haircut!? For a husky!? It gets worse. She then proceeded to forewarn me that they only have one haircut option for huskies, which is a COMPLETE FKING SHAVE DOWN. No shears, pure blade. My jaw dropped, I asked: "down to the skin?" Yes, she said. I asked, "but huskies are not supposed to get any haircut whatsoever! Why would you offer this?" Get this...she says: "because huskies shed a lot of hair." I couldn't continue after such an enlightening statement. Dear Petco Quality Assurance, Yelp review monitor, Grooming Supervisor, and whoever the hell is supposed to escalate these reviews: NEVER.EVER.SHAVE.A.HUSKY.DOWN.EVER! I made the worst decision of the year which was to use Petco grooming service for my dog... my appointment was for 12:00 but what Petco doesn't inform you of is that this appointment is one sided. What do I mean by this, as the consumer you have to be there at that time but they have NO plans of honoring that time. Instead their "plan" is to stick your dog into cage for hours because they completely overbook the appointments. So after Almost three hours I requested to speak with the manager to share my outrage, politely. Was absolutely dumbfounded by what I heard. What I was told is that yes this is their plan... They have no real intention of honoring their appointment times instead they plan on making us (the consumers) wait here while our dogs sit in cages!!! Now that we have a new addition to the family, I decided to check this place out to get some new toys and shampoo. The staff here is really friendly and are willing to go the extra mile. I like their selection of products, the only minus will be that a lot of the stuff they sell online they don't have at the actual store. Another minus are the doggie beds available, most of the ones I saw where for larger dogs. I do like it better than some other pets stores I have recently visited. Oh! OMG! Disney World for PETS! I'm switching from Pet Supermarket to Petco. The bf and I walked in there this past weekend for some nail clippers and other kitty products. First of all, it is SUPER organized! I LOVE that! They have a large selection for both cats and dogs. Trust me, we looked at EVERYTHING!! That's also a plus. I really hate the places that have a limited selection of kitty stuff, now that I'm a kitty parent. Their prices are better to just as good as pet supermarket. Rude cashiers and absurd return policy. They expect customers to provide all of their personal information every time you return an item even if you have a receipt. We went tonight and our cashier was so rude. One thing is to talk with your hands, another thing is to be aggressive and do it in your customer's face. She had trouble calculating basic math. This is my first time in any pet shop, I went to get an aquarium setup for my kids and asked for recommendations on how to set it up for the first time. They told me that only one of the associates knew about fishes and I had to wait for him. The person was almost no help at all and after I selected the kit he told me to come back the next day to buy the fishes. I went back the next day with the kids and they selected the ones they liked, the associate didn't say anything about how to make sure the fishes will survive even when I remind him several times that this was a new setup. That same day all the fishes had died by following the few instructions that were given. I now know about proper new tank preparation to wait for chlorine to disappear and the "new cycle" process which requires that only one or two fishes be placed at the begging or they will all die. After this experience, I'll never go back to a PetCo and avoid having my kids crying for the lost of a pet. I've already found another store that welcomes you when you enter, you can notice the difference. read more

I purchased through pay pal my dogs medicine to be picked up to this location. After my veterinary calling several times to approve the medicine no one assisted. My veterinary said it was approved on their saide but Petco went to sleep apparently and never confirmed. Petco just loss a costumer for waisting my time and the 58 dollars know will go directly to my veterinary as i will be purchasing directly with them. Petco staff shame on you. read more

If I could rate 0 stars, I absolutely would. I've lived in doral my whole life and have been coming to this petco since it was located where Baby's R Us now is. They have progressively worsened over the past few years. A year and a half ago I took my dog to get groomed. They slit my dog's nose (required 4 stitches) and not only did I have to call them to see what was happening with my dog, but they tried to lie to me about the situation. After that experience, I decided to never go back but I made an exception today and don't I regret it. I went to go buy some fish. I noticed that one of the neon tetras the employee tried to sell me was sick so I informed him about it (problem with the gill). The employee then proceeds to leave the fish in a waterless container to die a slow and painful death. I called him out on this and he then preceded to put the sick fish back with the 'healthy' fish. The fact that you endorse animal cruelty by allowing these types of employees in your store is despicable. This man should not be allowed near animals. This experience left me so incredibly upset I will NEVER set foot in this establishment again and I will make sure to tell everyone of my experience. read more

I came inside the store looking for a Petco brand crate that I found at Amazon. The store was extremely understaffed. My boyfriend and I spent about 10 mins looking for an associate to help. Once I found the associate he did not know what I was talking about and continue to tell me that the online store offers different merchandise then the actual physical store. Also, he advise that they don't price match and that if I wanted the crate I would have to go online and buy it there. I would not be going back again. I recently moved to Miami and was looking for a place to bring my two dogs for nail filing. All of the reviews posted here almost convinced me not to go, but it is the closest petco near my house and I thought I would give it a shot. I went in on 8/1/16 and received the WORST service. I have one elderly dog who I asked for nail filing and ear cleanse. My dog does have health issues but has been to multiple petcos in the past and never had issues. The groomer completely stressed out my poor dog and at one point in time, it appeared that my dog who was leashed and chained was hanging for a brief moment off of the table by the leash. I was in complete disbelief! She later switched to just nail clipping and did not do the ear cleanse. For my second dog who I also asked for nail filing, she decided to just do nail trim because of laziness. Long story short, I went in looking for specific services and did not receive any of my requests and left with a very distressed dog. On top of that, the nails looked like they were barely cut. If I could, I would give zero stars for both service and quality, but Yelp only allows you to rate 1 star at the minimum. read more

AT APPROXIMATELY 8:48PM , LOLAS GROOMING WAS COMPLETE. IT TOOK A TOTAL OF 18 MINUTES RUSH JOB OR SHALL I SAY HATCHET JOB. This rush job was the worst! SHE IS ALSO AN UNSKILLED GROOMER THAT FOLLOW DIRECTION!! Lolas has been going to Petco Doral for over 2 yrs and this has never happened. I have always been happy with Petco Doral but now I don't trust it there because of this UNSKILLED GROOMER. Please note that in the past when there was and extended waiting period the groomer would communicate clearly and I was given the option to reschedule. It is never right to not let a dog owner know that their dog would be locked in a cage for over 6 hours just to wait for a haircut. Be sure that every dog owner in Doral and social media will hear about this because I would not want this to happen to another pet. I'm not looking for a refund or an apology at this point I want to know that a pet won't ever have to go through this type of treatment and I expect better from an institution like Petco. read more

Long story short we bought a ball python about 4 months ago and it died from being overly infested with mites at month 2. We figured maybe cause wild lizards come into our house and maybe infested him. Went i yesterday for supplies and wanted to look at all the animals like I always do as if it's a zoo (7/2/2014) I saw that all 4 ball pythons and a lizards tank was infested with mites. I'm a regular customer in this location (or I used to after this experience)... Went there last Thursday (6/20/2019) to buy dental treats for my dogs, when I found the items, noticed that they had a 30% discount sticker because the item was "about to expire" when I checked the date, it had expired in 2017! Other bags in October or November 2018. When I asked an employee if they had unexpired products she just said no that's what we have, took the expired items from my shopping cart and left. After a couple of minutes, I went back to verify they had removed the expired items from the shelve but they only did for the bags expired in 2017 and left the ones that expired in 2018. Of course, I didn't buy the treats and/or the two bags of food I had already in my cart...
