I am really excited that Petco has started carrying Wellness Core dog food! The price is pretty reasonable too, always a bonus. This store is always clean and I don't have trouble finding what I need. Every time I have every interacted with an employee it has been a positive experience, I can't say the same for other pet stores. Petco promotes adoptions over buying dogs and cats, and this location has an in-store cat adoption center if you are hunting for a new furry friend to love and call your own. Ok so listen, my fur baby is the sweetest, most curious, bravest but nervous dog ever lol. She freaks when people try and clip/grind her nails. I had taken her twice to another place that shall remain nameless. They had me believing that my poor baby was a lost cause. Today I came across Amanda @ Prestonwood. I explained my kiddos issues and she assured me there would be no problem. Not kidding, I just knew this was going to be like the last 2 times at the other place that ended in refunds. I walk around for about 10 minutes, go to check and and Amanda is back out front with Kash. "She did fine. She was a little scared and we skipped the grind but she was great!" Relief! Best pet store I've been in yet! Not because of the store itself but because of one of the employees. Went in looking for treatment for my dogs dry flaky skin. Asked the gentleman checking out if the products I got were good, and he took me back to the aisle and suggested other options as well as nutrition on helping the skin. Took his time, was thoughtful, picked out good effective products (not just the most expensive) and explained everything to me. Just wonderful!!! read more

I like this Petco.. It's clean, fairly new (I remember when it was across the street from the 7-11. I used to walk there from our apartments with my best friend when we were about 8), and well lit. I like that you can pet the kitties that are up for adoption (whereas Petsmart has them blocked off from the customer side so you can see, but not touch). However, Petco only gets 3 stars from me. It's alright and I'll go here if it's 8.55 and I need kitty food or litter as soon as is humanly possible... but it's more expensive than Petsmart. I have both a Pet Pals card (Petco) and a Pet Perks card (Petsmart). I feel that the Perks card gets me more savings at Petsmart. The kitty litter I buy is always available in the larger size at Petsmart (40 lbs), but I can only find the medium size (31 lbs) at Petco, if I'm lucky (sometimes even that size is harder to find as it'll be hidden around the corner on and end cap with no signage, etc). The prices are also higher here at Petco.. $16 for the 31lb kitty litter at Petco vs 9.99 (with Perks card) for the 31 lb kitty litter at Petsmart. I have yet to see any kind of savings from my Pals card that I've had for about 7 years. I never get any mailers with coupons or discounts in store. Depending on what you buy, Petco might be cheaper for you. If you don't use the same brand of litter or food for your kitties that I do (or food for your doggies. I hope they wouldn't need litter), then it might be cheaper here. Also, I had to buy Frontline for the kitties today. They were thrilled. While it was most definitely easier to find at Petco (in a locked display case by the registers) than at Petsmart (had to ask 3 people before someone could go get it from the office), it was $4 more expensive at Petco-- so I guess you'd pay for less hassle. The fish selection seems to be smaller at Petco than at Petsmart, but Petco has a larger small animal/rodent population. Like I said, overall, it's a clean, well-lit, and open store. However, you might want to price compare before you fully commit to going to Petco every time for your pet supply needs. It might save you a few bucks per item to go down Beltline to the `mart. read more

My children Jackson( a Boston Terrier) and Dirkson (a German Shepard) and I come to this store all the time. They have such a wide variety of food, from basic pet food to high end organic.The food my babies get are not typical food you can buy in Walmart so I can get both dogs food here in one trip.(They both eat different kinds & both special ones) They have a wide variety of toys here for big dogs and small ones. They have a big cat section which unfortunately I do not know a lot about but based on their dog selection I am sure they have a big selection as well. They do have a big fish section right in the middle of the store too. I really enjoy this store, the prices are good & if you don't have a Pal's card yet GET ONE. read more

I took my Pomeranian there to get her groomed for the first time. She is 8 years old so it was a pretty big deal. The groomer (April) was so nice! I did not have an appointment and I was hoping to get my dog groomed that day. She explained that today was going to be very busy but she insisted that should would make time. I was very excited when I got the call to go pick her up! April was still there and she, along with everyone else, seemed so genuinely interested in me and my dog's experience! Even the gentlemen who was our cashier made a comment about how well behaved my dog was during the grooming process. In conclusion, everyone I came in contact with at this store was incredibly pleasant. And I am especially thankful for April! Pomeranians have a ton of fur and I know it was a lot of work to groom her, and she looks beautiful! April did a fabulous job and i highly recommend her, and this Petco. read more

I dropped off my 11 lb Bichon here and the staff was very friendly. I stated that I wanted a basic no frills puppy cut. However, upon returning the woman would not even let me see my dog before paying. She also had tacked on every charge allowed. My dog was given a blueberry facial (really?) and several other charges including him being difficult to handle. This is not the case every other groomer has always stated that he is easy to groom because the clippers and blow dryers do not phase him. All in all out the door ended up costing use $94.00 for a puppy cut!!!!! I contacted Petco thinking that I could get some of the amount refunded because she performed services that we had not agreed with. Petco did nothing. I will not be shopping here anymore which is bad for them because I buy 120lbs of organic dog food here a month for my labs. Long story short the cut was awful, I was nickel and dimed, and they woman who I dealt with was extremely rude to my wife. Will never go here again. read more

I've been bringing my dogs to the grooming salon here for several years now and have never had a negative experience. Plus with the new renovations at the store it's looking really nice! I only give 4 stars instead of 5 due to the turnover amongst the groomers. It's often someone I've never seen before each time I go. But having said that, everyone has always given great customer service to both me and my dogs. read more

We have used the do-it-your-self bathing for my daughter's boxer multiple times. They have a collar to keep her in the tub, a good water sprayer, plenty of towels and a hair dryer that works very well. I bring my own medicated shampoo, but they have their own shampoo and conditioner if that is your preference. No mess, no fuss and the price can't be beaten. This is the only way to bathe a big dog. Plus if you need anything the staff is very helpful. read more

Dupree and I go to this Petco alot when we need little things. Its where we got his beds, some carriers, a cute shirt for him, random dog accessories, leashes, collors, potty pads. They actually do sell a small selection of the foods I feed him too which is good if I can't get it from my normal place. They also have fish food when my cichlid gets hungry or needs a travel feeder thing. read more

We've been taking our pup to the Petco groomer for quite some time now and have always had great experiences! The prices are reasonable and we can tell that the groomers really seem to care about our dog, which really puts us at ease as first time dog parents! On one of our first visits, our pup had gotten into a massive pile of stickers and his entire body was covered in matted fur. We couldn't get any of the stickers out without taking out chunks of hair and somehow the groomers at Petco were able to get every last sticker out without hurting our little guy. Took my Pomeranian in recently for a haircut and bath. She left with a cute cut but developed a hot spot from biting/itching where apparently she wasn't rinsed well. I could tell the groomer cared well for my dog as she seemed kind and my dog left very happy, but more attention to bath time and maybe a sensitive skin wash would have helped my pup. Customer service at grooming has been very friendly and helpful but the sales staff - not so great. At least give your customers eye contact? And a thanks see you next time.. or there may not be a next time! I would be happy to shop here again but not happily enough to leave a 5 star review. read more

Only came in because I needed food for my dog and I had a $5 coupon. There was one employee who took it upon himself to get in my dog's face because she was making noise and try to scare her with a "training technique" that I never asked him to demonstrate. A red bull can filled with beans isn't a tool I'd like to use. Between that same employee who called my dog "crazy" before frightening her and the customer behind me who threatened my dog before leaving because she was barking, there aren't enough coupons in the world to bring me back to this location. read more

Took my Border Collie for bath at their self service bathing area. There are three bathing stalls available. Started in one stall and switched to another when the water wouldn't drain. Moved wet dog to the next stall and by then she was shivering (cold water the entire time) and again the water wouldn't drain. Their setup is awkward to bathe a large dog. The hose handle was awkward, the tile floor was slippery and there were no towels. Luckily Saturday was a warm day and I just let her shake outside to dry off. What a mess! Should have waited at Dirty Dawg's down the street but was in a hurry. Their wet floor is an accident waiting to happen. read more

This place doesn't even deserve a star. Their merchandise is disorganized and in the wrong place. When you go to check out the bill is much higher than anticipated because of THEIR disorganization. Furthermore, the cashier will want to argue with you about it, be condescending to you; when AGAIN its their merchandise in the wrong place. ...and not just one item but many. I encourage people not to waste their time shopping here and go to any other pet store in town except this one...unless of course you like be treated like a village idiot and wasting your time. A vet employee returned my purse to the front. What a blessing right? Wrong. Of course $200 worth of cash went missing from my purse. The guy at the front wasn't being very helpful, he even insisted that they don't have cameras watching the back end of the store. It's a shame to know that one of these employees would do such a thing to a customer. Will make sure I advise everyone that I know not to go here. read more

I took my 11 year old Australian Shepherd for a grooming appointment. Halfway through the appointment I was called and told they could no longer finish because he was "too old" and a lump on the top of his paw which the groomer will not admit but she aggravated it. Prior to his grooming I made it a point to tell them to be careful of his paw as he had a bump on it. I had him groomed there 3 months before with no issue at all (still not a great groom job) but I thought I would give them a second try due to them being close to my home. She did not clean his ears, clip his nails or brush his teeth. I was not charged and would not have paid if I was asked to do so. I have never heard of a dog being too old to groom, ridiculous. If you care for your dog, do not take them here. read more

I've been taking my puppy here to get his nails trimmed because I am scared to do it myself. Petco says they will trim them up to 6 months for free. I've been told to go to the vet inside instead of grooming because he hasn't had all his shots yet and they will take care of his needs. Because of the quarantine he hasn't got his 3 month shots yet, though they let me make an appointment for his nails. therefore I drove all the way up there just for the vet to tell me they won't do it because he hasn't had all his shots. They have been trimming his nails since we got him and he didn't have any of his shots at that point. Not only have I had numerous rude encounters with the staff here but this is just ridiculous they couldn't TRIM HIS NAILS because I wouldn't pay their ridiculous prices for his shots. they rather let a puppy go without his nails trimmed. It takes 2 minutes. They are not friendly and they don't give a shit about your dog they just want money. I'm done coming to this place. read more

Beware this grooming location. I was contacted with a 'deal' for grooming that was not honored. They called me because I was on their list having been to this location one time before. They quoted me a price and said it included a cut plus all the other things a good groom costs. When I got there, I was told there was no way I was told what I was told and they would not honor the deal. They were rude as well. I wouldn't trust their "deals" unless they are very specifically in writing. Also, if you have a complaint, I would suggest their customer service phone line instead of the store based upon the treatment I got...in front of other customers. I also filed a complaint with the Dallas BBB and this store currently has a rating of "unsatisfactory". read more

I recently took my pup to this location to be groomed and when I walked in there were pens and papers all over the ground so of course my dog grabbed the pen and while trying to get it from him an employee walked over so lackluster of any type of pleasant customer service and grabbed the pen. Then when I dropped my dog off to be groomed, what seemed like the main girl had such an attitude. It was the morning so I just took it with a grain of salt assuming they just weren't morning people but when I picked my dog up he came home and wouldn't leave his private areas alone due to them being covered in razor burn. And then a few days later he started hacking up stuff uncontrollably so I had to take him to the vet and it turns out he has kennel cough which the vet said is common after coming from the groomer which clues in at the sanitation of that place. Now the poor pup is on antibiotics and all trying to recover. I love Petco as a whole, but please be weary of this specific location and drive the extra mile for another one. read more

My aunt took the family dog for grooming. The groomers put a deep gash in the poor pup. The manager Patel was obnoxious and compleetly uncoopertaive when this was brought to his attention. He was rude, and refused to reimburse any vet bill. He accused us of "overcharging' the vet bill. How incompetent can they be? Apparently he has trained the rest of the groomers. BEWARE! read more
