Ace looks great and smells good also. The grooming he gets at Petco is the best and the staff really treats Ace good.

    Caitlin's Animal Training Services

    Caitlin's Animal Training Services

Caitlin Nagy was recommended to us for the training of our pit/chow mix Reese. We inherited Reese…read morefrom our brother. We initially contacted her for help with what we saw as aggression in Reese. Even when my brother was alive it was next to impossible to form a bond with Reese. We figured that she is a one person dog. Simply put, we were scared of her. When we reached out to Caitlin for help her response was that there were reasons for Reese's behavior and that we would explore different avenues. We set up a house visit for our first training. On the day of our visit she explained that before working directly with Reese, she wanted to take a video of us walking Reese. After a couple of minutes of taking the video and observing Reese she determined we should consult with our vet. She was concerned that Reese might actually have a hip or knee problem and be in pain and in need of meds. We made that vet appointment and sure enough Reeese has knee problems. With proper meds, it is everyone's hope that this will relieve some of her pain and hopefully make it easier to work with her. Caitlin's approach is to look at the "whole" dog, as well as teaching us about dog language. We like this approach. Now that we are addressing Resse's physical issues we look forward to our next steps in helping us feel more confident and safe with Reese and her tendencies towards aggression. We understand that this is a process and look forward to working with Caitlin on the rest of this journey! Thank you so much Caitlin!

During our private…read moretraining sessions, Caitlin does the heavy lifting of introducing Kiwi to a new command, then reinforcing it before we would all practice to further solidify the commands. We'd end each week knowing exactly what to practice with Kiwi, and so far, she has stellar recall when off leash, knows "sit," "down," "go to bed," and is becoming a pleasure to walk with around the neighborhood (she used to be terrified of cars and would not understand leash walking at all). Kiwi's behavior improvements are remarkable, and we have Caitlin to thank!

At first I was skeptical when she said that she'd be able to correct my girls behavior on the first day... but she really didn't stop until she did. Gwenevere was very thorough explaining everything in great detail which helped make me feel more comfortable too. Additionally, she did spend some time working with me as an owner making sure I do what's right. The group sessions are great and well controlled. Everyone is so welcoming and understanding. Literally everyone "just wants to get along". ;) I've read some other reviews for Marx's prior to contacting them. There was a few people mentioning that her technique might be excessive. After seeing the training first hand and participating I can guarantee everything she does is safe an effective. Gwenevere really is a dog behavioralist who understands how to effectively communicate with the animals and I look forward to learning more from her. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my experience so far-and my dog is much happier when I'm happy. I will recommend over and over again!

My family paid $600 and had one session at Gwen's home, where Gwen tested our dog and said that she passed the certification, and she gave us a certificate. When my mother went to volunteer at the local hospital, they informed us that Gwen's program is NOT a certification program, and that our dog still needed to go through a certification process (which by the way, cost only $40).

After researching, we decided to bring our 1 year old rescue here for their board and train…read moreprogram. We chose Tall Tails because their advertising specifically states they train using positive reinforcement only and specialize in working with rescue dogs. These statements sadly are not true, as they used a prong collar on our fear reactive dog without our consent. During our consultation, we made sure that Bill (Co-Owner/Trainer) was fully aware of the issues our dog has, including his fear reactive behavior. Our dog was in their care from Dec. 29th to Jan. 17th. We received little communication while our dog was in their care, including not having a concise pickup time. Upon picking our dog up, we received him in worse condition than his drop off. His legs were coated in dry urine and his neck was raw and bleeding from the use of the prong collar. We were told by Bill directly on pickup night that they missed multiple days of giving our dog his medication while in their care. He even joked that they could tell during training sessions which days our dog wasn't medicated. When Bill did the graduation demonstration, we watched in agony as he jerked on the prong collar for multiple minutes and physically pushed down on our dog's shoulders, trying to get him to listen to a command. Of the six commands they say will be taught during their program, they only worked on three with our dog. Because we don't feel comfortable using a prong collar, our dog has made no improvements at home with these commands or with his behaviors in general. His separation anxiety, ability to take medication, and his leash pulling and biting are all worse. He now also disengages from training sessions by hiding in his crate. We were in so much shock that we left their facility without confrontation, not yet having seen the damage to his neck. After debating whether or not to move forward with their group classes, we declined and presented our discontent with photo evidence of his injuries. Having paid $2,200 for this program, we requested only a partial refund for the training our dog didn't complete in their care and for the injuries they caused. We have not received any form of response from this business regarding our request. We do not recommend this facility and feel very upset for what our dog experienced.

The manager at the boarding and training facility has changed in the past year, and unfortunately, our experience under the new management was far below the standards we had previously expected. When we picked him up, he had diarrhea and arrived with a soiled behind -- yet we were never notified of any stomach issues during his stay. He also had a deep scratch across his nose, which we only noticed in the daily photos and had to point out to staff ourselves in order to get him proper care. When we submitted a review after his stay, staff claimed they had informed us about the scratch and that he hadn't had any stomach issues while in their care. Diarrhea is very evident with our white Samoyed, as his fur gets soiled and requires extra cleaning, so their claims felt like gaslighting rather than honest communication. Instead of acknowledging their mistakes or committing to improve, staff told us we were no longer welcome and even blocked our portal login. Their response was dismissive, unprofessional, and demonstrated a complete lack of accountability. For the health and safety of your dog, stay away from Opportunity Barks and their unethical, unprofessional behavior.

After reading all the amazing reviews I thought to myself, we found the place and my dog Dre is going to look nice and dapper for the arrival of his sister in a few weeks. My wife had booked a cut and bath but when she arrived she was told that Dre was only booked for a bath and the groomer reluctantly agreed to the cut. She requested to shave him down extremely short to which the groomer protested and said she would shave him as short as she could. He came running up to me as soon as he got home, he smelled great, looked nice and clean but his hair was not shaved down very much. I immediately asked my wife why they hadn't shaved him down to which she informed me that this was the "shave". Given the circumstances surrounding this event I can only conclude that the groomer didn't want to shave him down further because whoever had put the appointment down hadn't blocked out a sufficient amount of time for the services we requested. I essentially have paid for a cut and bath for a dog who still needs a cut. I am left very disappointed. I trusted them with a member of my family to which they only decided to partially take care of. Update: Before the end of the night my wife was contacted by the owner who was very apologetic and wanted to rectify the situation. My wife took our pup back this morning and everything is great. Mistakes are inevitable, but what defines the character of a company is how things are taken care of afterwards. LOPCI did a great job fixing everything.
