This place has done wonders for my family and I. They have helped us bond with our dog, and be confident and educated. We have taken Vanellope here since she was three months old. We have put her through many courses and take her to daycare multiple times a week. We would never in a million years take her anywhere else! I would like to say that we had a great experience like everyone else however, we did not. We are recent transplants from Chicago and needed to find a groomer in the area. After reading all the amazing reviews I thought to myself, we found the place and my dog Dre is going to look nice and dapper for the arrival of his sister in a few weeks. My wife had booked a cut and bath but when she arrived she was told that Dre was only booked for a bath and the groomer reluctantly agreed to the cut. She requested to shave him down extremely short to which the groomer protested and said she would shave him as short as she could. He came running up to me as soon as he got home, he smelled great, looked nice and clean but his hair was not shaved down very much. I immediately asked my wife why they hadn't shaved him down to which she informed me that this was the "shave". Given the circumstances surrounding this event I can only conclude that the groomer didn't want to shave him down further because whoever had put the appointment down hadn't blocked out a sufficient amount of time for the services we requested. I essentially have paid for a cut and bath for a dog who still needs a cut. I am left very disappointed. I trusted them with a member of my family to which they only decided to partially take care of. Update: Before the end of the night my wife was contacted by the owner who was very apologetic and wanted to rectify the situation. My wife took our pup back this morning and everything is great. Mistakes are inevitable, but what defines the character of a company is how things are taken care of afterwards. LOPCI did a great job fixing everything. read more

Ive been taking my goldendoodle to Leader of The Pack for over 5 years and have always requested Lois as she is THE BEST! Last week when I took my medium sized, 38 lbg furry baby to get a bath and cut I was told it went from $80 to $91, thats over a $10 increase?! We are in the middle of a pandemic, I am out of work like 10 million other Americans are and Leader of The Pack still has a booming business yet they chose to raise my pups price over $10? Seriously? This is absurd and price gouging! Very disappointed in this significant price increase for my furry baby! We routinely board our two Boston Terriers here whenever we're out of town. A lot of kennels leave your dog in a crate, and let them out to play with the other dogs for an hour or two each day (not unlike the treatment of anybody in our penal system). They'll even have the nerve to charge you more for "extra" play time as if it costs them anything to do; it just feels like a tactic in a hostage negotiation. Not this place. All the dogs get to play with each other all the time as part of the reasonable $35 per dog per day rate. They separate the dogs based on size/demeanor (for obvious reasons) and will crate any dogs who aren't fixed or aggressive (again, for obvious reasons). Just in case you still don't trust this set-up, you're free to watch them on a live webcam (which is also included in the rate, without up-charge). The best benefit of boarding your dogs here: they are beyond exhausted when you pick them up; needing a day or two to recover, which is convenient because you're are usually recovering as well from your own weekend getaway. read more

I can't say enough good things. My dog has been an out of control problem child for the past 3 years I've had her. I've tried other trainers and multiple methods. I had one training session here a few days ago and the change has been absolutely remarkable. The pup and I still have a long way to go, but I know that we will be doing all of our future training here. We have been taking our 1 year old pup to daycare at Leader of the Pack for 6 months. All of the staff are very professional and knowledgeable. All dogs are screened and evaluated prior to being allowed in daycare. I highly recommend the training, the classes are great. Our dog was a rescue and had some behavioral issues. Lisa was amazing in our 1-1 sessions. Our dog's behavior has improved a ton since working with Lisa. She is one of the most knowledgeable and caring trainers we have worked with. read more

I have been in PA for exactly four weeks today. This place has saved my life. I am a devoted dog parent of a 1 year old Lab/Hound mix who LOVES to play and I try to get her enough exercise so she remains a sweet angel. But I cannot walk her enough to tire her and the nearest dog park is 30 minutes away. When it rains or I don't have enough time to get to the park, I drop her here for a few hours or all day, and for a reasonable fee ($18-$24) I get a tired, well-behaved dog at night to enjoy. The staff are very friendly young kids and the owner is nearly always around. This is not one of those "lets franchise a dog business even though we know nothing about dogs" places where no humans are present and the conditions are squalid. (I've seen them!) LOPCI has cameras so you can check in on your pups and there are always people monitoring them. The owner is a certified, legitimate, trained canine professional. All dogs require up-to-date shots, etc., and a behavior/temperament test to attend. They also board dogs. I will be using that service later this month but haven't done so yet. I have had them groom my dog, too, and that was great. read more

We won't be returning unfortunately. The last time our dog was in, he had a behavioral issue. He is a high energy dog and I know he can be a handful. On the day in question however, I had been watching him on camera all day from work. He had no issues that warranted a phone call but I had seen 2 corrections from the girl who was in the room, 1 of which appeared to be a swat toward his face. The issue apparently arose when 2 of the rooms were combined as they were being set up for the overnight boarding. I did not see what he did, but when I looked on the other room's camera he had already been pulled from the floor. Minutes later I received a call stating that my dog was no longer welcome at day care. Apparently he had mounted another dog which has been an on and off issue when in day care. Once I said that I would come and pick him up I was told that he was more than welcome to come back for boarding which consists of sitting in a large cage all day. If you're in a pinch and need a place to park your dog, I wouldn't say don't go here, but be prepared for phone calls if your dog has a bad day. read more

We have been dog owners throughout our lives. In past cases we did not feel obedience training was necessary for the dogs we adopted, we have always adopted. Our recent adoption was a Plott hound mix, stubborn at times and a bit of an alpha, also very smart. I believe obedience training is always a good idea and have worked in a kennel and worked with dogs. I was extremely impressed with Meghan and her helpers and the respect they commanded from the dogs and the humans. They are committed to helping humans and dogs forge a stronger bond. Understand that there is no magic wand waved here, you are trained to train your dog, you are supported by the staff and the process is rewarding. Throughout the past few years I can honestly say that the staff at Leader of the Pack are very skilled, sociable and incredible with dogs. It's family run.. so if the family does not like you, you will not have a good experience. We took our pup there for training, that worked well, he was in for two classes (6 ? weeks each).. that was ok.. it is tough to teach a puppy. We stopped the training and just used for boarding and day care. Apparently we fell out of favor with one of the owners . We were told that our dog was attacking other dogs, and that he needed to be in a private kennel (which they charge more for). We have never seen him attack other dogs so that surprised/embarrassed us (and the employees there told us they were surprised that our dog had to be private too and it was only the one family member that ever said anything bad about our dog, but maybe the employees were not in back, maybe they were disgruntled.. who knows). After the cost of adding private (and they charge extra if you want to feed them, or if you want them to give them a pill or walks when in overnight) we went to another place in Bethlehem. We warned the new place or the experiences (it too was an open environment).. they promised to keep an eye on him... they reported no problems. He has been at the new place for a year, and loves it.. though it is a farther drive for us. So...it may work for you.. I know they push the "best of the valley" thing a lot, so take the reviews with a gain of salt... ask for the full cost, including all the services when you sign up. They sort of have a captive market since there is no other doggie day cares within 10 miles. read more

We adopted our dog, Gigi, from a shelter. In fact, she had been surrendered to a shelter in the short 6 years of her life twice. When we travel, I can't bear to put her back in a cage. I visited other facilities, but wasn't comfortable that no one was with the dogs 24/7. I'm a vet tech and a nurse and am concerned for her well-being. I chose this facility for the Full-time care and the open space both inside and out. I like it that I can see her on the camera every day. They follow my feeding instructions to a tee. I would give a 0, if it was a possible score. I boarded my dog for several days recently. Now my baby is sick with Kennel Cough due to the stay. Before I went to the vet, I called Leader and asked if there were any issues. This is when I was told by an employee that they had cases of kennel cough and Bordetella. How sneaky is it NOT to mention anything to your customers or post any signs about it. After the visit with my vet, I called to advise Lisa of the issue. I could not tell her - all she did was YELL. She never even asked how she was doing. Now my baby is sick and all Lisa can do is yell at me....??? WORST SERVICE EVER. (I think this should be obvious.) read more

We took our dog Bella to leader of the pack while we went on vacation for 10 days because our regular sitter was busy. While on vacation we checked the web cams numerous times and never saw her once. We would call and they would tell us her laws were sore and she was "resting". She was actually in a cage, the very thing we were trying to avoid by going to leader of the pack. Once we picked her up we noticed her eyes were seeping and she had red bumps all over her body. We took her To the vet and he told us that he was seeing lots of problems from leader of the pack. We now have Bella on 4 different medications. Thanks leader of the pack for the worst first experience at a kennel. We will NEVER go back there. Please if you truly love your dog do not step foot in leader of the pack. read more

My first review was based on my poor experience my dog and myself had at leader of the pack. I still stand true to that review, I would not recommend this facility based on the inability and lack of enthusiasm of the trainer and the lack of follow-through on the COMPANY's end once they had my money. However, now I must revise my review to focus on the complete lack of professionalism of the owner, Lisa. Since I left my review in July 2014, I have received four messages from her, attacking my character as a faithful and loving pet owner in a condescending and just downright nasty manner. It's very sad because my poor review could have been prevented or changed if Lisa would have offered to correct my poor experience and asked me to give their facility another try. But instead she went the route of continuously harassing me in ill-mannered, patronizing and just downright unprofessional messages. She even went as far to rate her own company to offset my poor review (which has been taken down). Do not go to this company solely based off the way this woman runs her business and treats people that have solicited it. My advice to you Lisa (since I will never reply to your messages), focus more on bringing your business up then attacking someone who is already spreading poor word of mouth due to your actions. read more

Terrible experience. The worst in the lehigh valley! We took our dog for a grooming appointment. Noone greeted us with a smile or a hi or hello when we walked in to drop our dog off and to pick her up! They are clearly over-whelmed and under-staffed. They even called us half an hour prior to the appointment saying they were double-booked and were wondering if we can come early! When we went to pick her upm the lady we spoke to at the front desk (perhaps the owner) was extremely rude and stressed out. Our dog's haircut was nothing like we requested. On top of it, we were told that our dog had diarrhea "in the crate". If you have seen Leader of the Pack's website they really market their philosophy of bring a crate-free facility!! This is the reason we took our dog there, since she gets anxious in crates! Naturally, she had diarrhea when they put her in the crate (out of anxiety). I asked them why they put her in the crate, and the response was extremely rude and there was NO apology whatsoever! They also charged me more than what I was quoted. I paid the price not wanting to get my dog more anxious in there and to waste my time arguing. It was shocking to hear the lady at the desk say "You will find yourself another groomer"!!!!! The worst customer service I have received ever and to think my poor dog was there for two whole hours. The people I saw there look FAR from dog-lovers. Our dog arrived home sick (with diarrhea), anxious, unhappy (am sure she wasnt treated well there) and of course, with a bad haircut. Strongly urge you to not use these guys for your dogs for grooming or boarding! read more

My experience with this company has not been good and I would not recommend them. My husky has attended training for obedience and social skills. The the middle of social training I was asked to remove my pet from day care because he was not social. Today I tried to have him groomed to remove his under coat and instructed the groomer he needed to be muzzled because huskies are mouthy. Those instructions were not followed and 1 hour later I was called to pick him up because he chewed a blower. When I picked him up his face is all bruised from the cage he was put in. read more

OWNER'S RESPONSE TO MY REVIEW: BOLDFACED LIES. COULD BE THEY WERE OVERWHELMED WITH TOO MANY DOGS THAT WK & SHE WAS HAVING A BAD DAY WHEN WE CAME TO PICK HIM UP, BUT LIES ARE UNACCEPTABLE. HAPPILY MOVING ON :) We recently had a very bad experience with Leader of the Pack Canine Institute (LOTPCI). We had to find last-minute boarding for our dog and chose LOTPCI due to the mostly good reviews and convenient location. Once we were already out of town, they evaluated our dog and told us he "failed" their eval & therefore had to be put in "private" boarding, which consisted of a small room by himself wherein he could hear, see & smell the other dogs, but was not permitted to interact with them. We were told he was given 5- 6 "walks" per day. Our dog ALWAYS gets along with other dogs. We believe the reason he "failed" was due to his being stressed by being put in a strange/new place and was given an eval in a very unnatural manner. He was put in a room and dogs were introduced to him one at a time, increasing the number of dogs until for some reason he "snapped" at one and was then put in private boarding. We spoke with the director and requested he be given a second chance the second day, or even third day in, and were told they would not honor our request. We purchased 15 minutes of playtime wherein we were told someone would toss a ball for him (this cost an additional $15). We were used to a place where our dog ran free, under good supervision, slept, ate, played with the other dogs and the people, who always loved our dog, loved to play fetch with him because he is so energetic, athletic and accurate. He was always given an excellent report upon completion of boarding, having been the "social leader" of the pack, welcoming the new dogs into the pack and always willing to share a toy. He loved cuddling up with the people and other dogs at night. He was always a pleasure for them to have, from day one, at their facility. We were shocked to hear he was not going to be allowed to play with the other dogs here. Upon return from our trip, we went in to pick our dog up, we paid our bill, and were treated very rudely by the owner (Lisa? I didn't even know she was the owner, as she did not introduce herself.) She could clearly see that I was not happy with the fact our dog was isolated for five days, and rather than take my husband and me aside, and ask what the matter was, she gave me a cold, hard stare, and was very short, curt, and rude, asking me what the problem was. I started to explain to her my complaint, when her husband walked in, and she rudely interrupted me by telling him he would have to talk to me because she "just can't do this" and left the reception area. I started to explain to him our complaint when Lisa walked back into the front area and rudely interrupted me again, spatting out, pointing her finger at me, "Do you know why your dog failed the evaluation?! Because he SNAPPED at a dog! That's why! Your dog does NOT get along with other dogs!" I told them, yes, I do know the reason he was put in private boarding, but I was simply trying to explain why we were upset with this, as usually our dog gets along fantastically with others, & for a second time was rudely interrupted and not given a chance to talk. Her husband tried to get her to stop spatting words at me and to give me a chance to talk, & she wouldn't. She was clearly very defensive, and certainly not open for any type of negative feedback from customers. When she and her husband left the room to go get our dog for us, a young man at the front counter heard me saying to my husband "Wow, I had no idea she was the owner. That's no way to run a business. The customer should always be heard." This young man was apparently the owners' son and he said "That's my mom you are trash-talking and you need to get the hell out of our lobby!" Well, I didn't leave until my dog was brought out to us. He was ecstatic to see us needless to say, and the feeling was mutual. He was fine physically, however, it took several days to get him calmed down and for him to trust that we were not going to leave him again. He also had a very hoarse, "crying" bark for two days. We assume he was very stressed & barking a lot for those 5 days, wanting to hang with the pack. I do have to say the husband (didn't catch his name) was kind, polite, & tried to give me a chance to talk, but his wife sabotaged it. I believe the overall approach & attitude of the business, at least in our situation, was very closed-minded, strict, & not pro-dog socialization. They did also say at one point they had far too many dogs on site to take a chance putting our dog in with the group. Perhaps they might not want to have more dogs than what they can comfortably manage. Needless to say, we will never go back here. We found an amazing place called Priority Dog in New Tripoli that has open fields and a very kind, open, positive approach to dogs, not a closed, punitive approach such as LOTPCI. read more
