My rating is -3. When the new owner took over the Delisle Pet Value a few years ago, it seemed he stocked the store better and was friendly and personable. Over time, it's been about 4 years now ... I have come to know the business quite well as I have two dogs and a cat and spend a lot in the store. a year ago I spoke with the owner and advised him of the following based on three previous successive experiences.
1. his staff; are poorly trained tho friendly and if not supervisory ... they don't last long
2. items and discount signs did not match up and when shopping there you have to pay real close attention to small print because discounts apply to specific sizes in a product, it's so nit picky that even the cash register was not agreeing with some of the posted signs or discount labels on bags ... So I caution customers to look over their bills because the ignorant staff, the misleading signage and the input of items on the register leads to bills being out of whack by $1 or $2 consistently ... MORE when the package says $3 discount and the clerk fails to ring it in!
3. The staff are pleasant and friendly however supervisory staff lack skills to handle difficult situations such as reversing an overcharge as it actually floored one supervisor!
Having had this conversation with owner things appeared to get better. Then I went in to buy so big ticket items on Black Friday. The cat tree I wanted was not applicable for brochure $50 off because it had no ladder. The litter $10 discount only applied to the biggest bag so I asked for it to be delivered because I could not carry it home. I paid for all the items I bought. The next day, I received a call from the delivery person that he was on his way to deliver and there was a delivery charge of $15. I asked ... was delivery not free? per signs I'd seen in the store. He said yes but it did not apply to litter! Imagine! He also said I should know that!!! I then asked why I had not been informed in the store and further ... was it on the sign that says free delivery in the store? ... He replied, it is there in small print. I was annoyed and told the owner who was driving his black Mercedes to make the delivery that yet again I did not appreciate this surprise nonsense on his products and service and I was beginning to suspect this sloppy merchandising was maintained in his favour because here and there he is making a buck or two, and people are not noticing. He was upset with my accusation. I said it was not an accusation ... I have enough experience to begin wondering why so many errors? I told him I will no longer shop at his store because I could not trust it.
I feel the need to warn his customers about my experience so they pay attention to their bills because I think this way of doing business is wrong.
