I took my dog, a senior Yorkshire Terrier, here for a grooming today. I'd been looking for a few days for a dog grooming place that had a seamless appointment booking process, and ended up choosing Pet Promise due to the proximity of the location to our home, and the ease of making an appointment. Appointments can be made easily over the phone. I made an appointment two days prior, and it was convenient and quick. They sent a text reminder on the day of the appointment. When we got there on the day, Michael was very friendly and welcoming. He asked what kind of cut I wanted, and said she'd be ready in an hour. When I came back an hour later, Gremlin came running out of the back room happy and alert. She looked and smelled great. Payment is made in either cash, Venmo, or zelle. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!! Besides having the worst cut I've ever seen, the owner was absolutely horrible to work with after I noticed my dogs ears ALL cut up. He refused to acknowledge he did this (as if it just happened overnight). I saw another review stating the same thing, so it seems like it's a reoccurring pattern. For context, my dog was extremely matted. We have been traveling for the last 6 months and I did go too long without an appointment for her. I do acknowledge that it requires her to be shaved down, but NEVER should they let a dog go bleeding without informing the customer. I know mistakes happen, and gave him the chance to make it right, and he refused to take any blame. Absolutely horrible customer service. He's rude, a bad groomer, and not willing to understand his customers. Her ears were SO bloody and cut up. I've never seen anything like this. She has not been her usual happy self since the cut and is clearly traumatized from it. Do not make the same mistake I did and take your dog here. Anytime I've taken her to a groomer, they spend hours and hours on her, while he took 1.45 hours. He clearly just wants the money and does not care about anything else. I've never felt the need to write such a negative review, but want to save anyone else from taking their dog here. UPDATE: a week after her cut and constant shaking her head, I noticed this GIANT clump of fur in her ear... the amount of neglect during this cut is absurd. read more

The best Groom our wheaten terrier "Woody" has ever had! Woody is a strong and sometimes difficult dog to groom. Master Groomer Michael was able to groom him perfectly! The appointment scheduling was super convenient, we called in the morning and our boy was finished by the afternoon! My favorite thing about the groomer is the way he treats the dogs. You can feel safe leaving your babies with him because he treats them so well. At the end of the groom our beautiful boy was so happy, clean and perfectly groomed. WARNING - THE REVIEW WE READ ON HERE ABOUT PET PROMISE ENDED UP BEING B.S! As a store to get great treats, this is your spot! BUT I brought my 10 month old puppy in to be groomed and had a terrible experience. The owner told my wife 'he may need to shave him', when she came to pick him up he was shaved down to a zero. Our dog with amazing long hair was shaved down to a zero... Looking at a review from 8/26/2020 by someone named Shri made it seem like this would be handled differently. Shri mentions that he had patience, and it took a few hours... My experience was anything but that. It took an hour and half, at most and he just completely shaved him without letting us know he was going ahead with that. The communication was abysmal to say the least. My wife picked up our dog and when I went back to discuss with the owner what he had done he just kept bringing up that he cuts show dogs and wanted to show me pics on his phone of it. Again, my puppy is 10 months old, we're first time dog owners and we don't have a show dog or expect a drop off and pick up without communication (you are a groomer!) if you're going to completely shave our shelti-doodle. Needless to say we'll probably be going back to the groomer in Williamsburg that we've gone to (just moved to Dumbo this month), who at a lower price spends much more time, TLC and sends picture updates and doesn't just shave every inch of your dog to a zero.. Love these guys! My chihuahua, Blu, passed away at 13 years 4 months ago, November 21. But they were so great at trimming her nails that I stopped taking her to her vet for that as it was half the price and it was not a traumatic experience for her. I thought so much of them that on the day I was scheduled to euthanize her in my home, I took her by their store to say goodbye. Great and convenient experience. Called for a much needed appointment and got one for the next morning, first thing. Upon arrival, the owner was wearing a mask as a precaution during the pandemic. My dog hadn't been groomed in some time because of the NYC Pause set in place. The owner was friendly and gentle with my dog and asked me to return in about 1.5 hours. Took My sweet Oscar to Michael at Pet Promise for a grooming after seeing what an amazing job he did on another pet while I was shopping. My Oscar gets very messy he is a frenchie and has folds that get dirty and ears like a venus fly trap. Mike washed him twice over with some great products as oscar has danfruff/ flakey skin. (seems to have disappeared!!) its already been a week and he still smells and looks like the first day. Going to use Mike as my monthly routine. Mike does an amazing job! I have an 8 year old German Shepherd who gets nervous around strangers, especially men. He took great care of Mila, allowed me stay for the first visit, was extra patient and understanding. Her coat and nails have never looked better. I've also noticed that the clean coat seems to last longer than when I take her to other groomers. Brought my 70 proud labrador/golden mix to Pet Promise for a good grooming, nail clipping, and ear cleaning. Total was $80 which was totally reasonable when I saw the amount of hair he was able to get off my dog! (Which normally ends up all over my floor.) The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but he absolutely loves dogs and is incredibly kind and generous with them. We always leave with free treats or poop bags. I'm so glad this is located in my neighborhood but honestly even if we move we will still come to see Michael. read more
