When I pulled up in front of the place and saw the awning covered with disgusting bird poop, I should have turned around and gone home. Long story short, Kim misquoted me on the pricing and timing of my dogs grooming. The price was $100 more than quoted and the grooming of my two long haired dogs took 4 hours despite the fact that they were being groomed simultaneously by two different groomers. My past groomers have taken no more than 2.5 hours to do both dogs one at a time. When I came to get my dogs after 4 hours, I could hear my dog whimpering, when he was given back to me he immediately urinated on the salon floor as he had been there so long and could no longer hold it in. I paid over $400 not including tips for both my dogs. This is not a fancy dog spa, it is a bare bones operation and the groom was of average quality. Yes Kim, they had to be hand scissored, that should never take four hours. When the groomer brought Bogie out, he said, "Oh, I guess that's why he was crying". So my boy was left uncomfortable and crying because your groomers can't get their job done in a timely manner. EDIT: In response to Kim. When I picked up my dogs, the male groomer was telling me how Sasha was cuddling with him. There was zero mention of aggression.YOU DID NOT MUZZLE MY DOGS, STOP LYING!!!!! My dogs have been groomed monthly for nine years and they have never shown aggression to any groomer, including yours. NO NEED TO LIE KIM. They are hand scissored regularly and it takes 2 1/2 for both dogs, done by one groomer. My dogs came to you in excellent condition and your failure to do a good job in a timely manner is on you. It's sad you need to make up lies about innocent dogs to make yourself look better. read more

A fantastic pet spa. I have a double coated samoyed. I've used a bunch of "recommend" samoyed places. They refuse to remove any matted fur. She kept getting mats behind her ears, and no groomer would ever do anything for her. We would try to cut/brush them out out ourselves. They would keep reappearing. We took her here and they spent hours teasing out the mats. Six months later, she hasn't had a single mat behind her ears. The price is about double the other groomers we've gone to, but the level of service is in line with the price. They are transparent about the price. We are in the process of an out of state move and made the point to come back. I highly recommend, and am worried about finding a groomer as good as this one. read more

Prices go up whenever they please. Easily $100+ more than the nearest other groomers. Save your money and don't go here. Other groomers charge $250-300 for hand stripping and their prices don't go up every 6 months. I think most of your customers would agree with me. Not sure who you are, Alec, but Kim (owner) called us earlier and to tell us that we were not welcome to her establishment anymore because after their prices went up, she offered us a $25 credit and instead of honoring the credit, she decided to "remove" us as a customer. UPDATE: After leaving the review below, the owner left me a voicemail devastated and profusely apologizing that they didn't notice and reassured me that they would never have behaved this way had they known. While this situation is unfortunate, I am reassured that they also find this to be as unacceptable as I do, and I do believe it was purely an accident. Updating rating to 4 stars. ORIGINAL: They cut my pup in his privates while giving him a haircut today and then didn't even bother to tell me about it. I had to find out tonight when rubbing his tummy. There is so much not okay with this I don't even know where to begin. 1. As a professional groomer that charges 3 digits a session, the bare minimum is you do not hurt the animal entrusted to your care. And 2. if you make a mistake, own it???? Just took my 2lb 16 week old puppy here for the first time. It was her first time getting groommed!! Kim the owner was so kind, and the groomer, Karina was so gentle, patient, and lovely. I'm happy that they eased my dog into grooming-- I asked for a particular cut and they were transparent saying if my puppy was too scared they'd trim her just a bit instead of traumatizing her for the first time by doing the short cut I requested. This is my first time bringing my pup to a professional groomers. I requested a quote on yelp and called for an appointment. The process was easy and professional. I briefly told Han, that I wanted a more teddy bear cut for my puppy, Katsu. I even provided a few photos that I looked up on Pinterest, and I am blown away with the results! I will start by saying that I will never be coming be back to this place for a grooming (or anything else). I came from the UES, because Unleashed Spa had very good reviews and for those reviews that we're not that favorable the owner seemed to be very responsive and caring for making her customers happy when something didn't go well. In my case there's no point in complaining with the job they did because it's not fixable. I can do nothing, but wait for the dog's hair to grow back out. The only reason this is not a 1 star review is because my puppy was not harmed in any way nor did she seem stressed when she came out. Also, this is totally a 1st world problem rant, but if I'm paying money I would like to be happy with the results. That said, she looks absolutely heinous. She's a rat with a fluffy head. There's a reason why I didn't get a Chinese Crested Dog ... I don't like hairless dogs. I thought I'd given pretty explicit instructions of wanting a puppy cut (which means leaving at least an inch of hair). I did make the mistake of saying summer cut and then did correct to puppy cut, but she came out with a really short summer cut. They even trimmed her beautiful eyelashes that I explicitly said not to touch. She had a few mats throughout, but I certainly don't think a full shave was needed. This business has been in the neighborhood 17 years and had mostly great reviews on Yelp so I tried it today. I had my two senior dogs (ages 16 and 11 years) groomed. I was able to speak directly with the groomers who would work on my dogs, as well as the owner. I explained my dogs' ages and health conditions. They promised to stop the session if either dog exhibited any signs of stress. They did an excellent job, were courteous, friendly and professional. The grooming took 2 hours, NOT 4+ like at Petco Union Square, and price was comparable. They notified me when the dogs were almost ready. This has been my go to dog spa for the past few years. My dog is a sweetheart but when it comes to grooming him it's extremely difficult for me. Somehow they gain his trust and he comes out looking brand new. I appreciate their hard work and know they put up with a lot. I can barely get one nail clipped myself and they manage to do all that and more. When he leaves there he smells good, no matting, his teeth are clean, no injuries or cuts and he's extremely soft. He gets compliments from strangers every time, they'll even yell from across the street "did he just get groomed?! Wow!" I love the way he looks fluffy but a good grooming is important for his health. I love my dog so much and I wouldn't leave him alone with anyone I didn't trust. Heck, I travel all the way from Brooklyn. I get my errands done and shop while he's getting groomed. I always bring water and his bowl so that we can unwind at Tompkins park for a bit which is only a few blocks away. It's a great neighborhood. read more

We were so fortunate to get same-day appointments! We're new to the area and our pups hadn't been groomed in quite a while, so we were desperate. Our 6 year old boy is a lovebug, but we're always worried about our 2 year old girl, who has severe anxiety. So, I took my 7 month old lhas Apso to Unleashed for the 1st time this past Thursday. we had an 11:00 appt and she was taken by Kase on time. I gave him a picture of how she looked from a groomer I took her to in Florida twice. I didn't get my pup until 5 hours later. I was lucky to be able to sit in the Salon where I get my haircuts. Throughout these hours Kim came out to apologize again and agAin. Yes, I was patient! However , This was unacceptable. A normal grooming should not have taken more than 2-2 1/2 hours. Kim also mentioned that Kase had not groomed for over a year after she was already in for two 1 1/2 hours amd had to "get back into the swing if things" Now, I was worried. Kim promised me I would be satisfied. Fast forward to 4:30 Kase and Kim brought my pup out. She was so excited to get out of there. Needless to say, she had two cuts on her face. Being disabled, I was so exhausted, I couldn't really inspect her haircut or the cuts. I couldn't wait to get her home. When I did get her home she was a total mess. Her cut was completely uneven. I did pay, against my better judgement. And, although I thought I had a full grooming package kim said she was taking off and not charging for teeth cleaning. I still paid the $108.00 and, not realizing how horrible my pup's haircut was I gave kase a very nice tip. My tip should have been - get out of the business. Well this was the first and the last time here. My pup was so stressed out when we got home she didn't move and urinated on herself. I put bacitracin on her cuts. . I am dusgusted. Never again, and the money I paid was pure abuse. Now, I have to take her to another groomer to fix her up. Add: In response to your answer. I am not being dishonest at all. Kim specifically told me kais cut the dog twice on her face. If that is being denied then you are outright lying. I NEVEr cut any hair off her face whatsoever. After Kim told me she received two cuts by Kais, I even asked kim if she was bleeding profusely and she said no. So to say I did it ,is an out right lie. They were fresh cuts. I did not groom my dog myself. I clearly said she had some sap on her legs and I cut a bit of hair off her feet which I showed Kais. Never on her face. As a business owner if you knew kais was "out of shape" then you never should have allowed him to practice on my pup. I am not in the habit if writing bad reviews but after this experience I felt it was due. I even asked kim to let someone else finish after she told me about the cuts and the time it was taking, but she told me they were all booked up and even had to cancel Kais' other appointments. I was Not angry I had to sit either but I was upset it took a long time, and, regardless, I paid for the service. I refuse to waste my time going back and forth. read more

We bring our mini-goldendoodle Walter to Shannon every month or two. And she's incredible! Walter comes out happy and looking great every time. I brought Peanut here for his first ever grooming experience with Han. We paid $87 including tax, not including tip, which seems so be about average (if not, below average) cost in the city. The place is unassuming and small, but our puppy came out looking like a million bucks. He smelled great as well! We asked for a teddy bear cut and showed Han a picture for reference.
