Seeing that my last review for this resort was in 2015 (and that it had a different name back then), I figure it is time for an update... In the past eight years, a lot has changed, but much has stayed the same including the fact that this luxury pet resort is super trustworthy, professional, and a fabulous option for your pets to have a vacation while you do the same! Some of the selling factors as listed on their website include: -24/7 security and fire protection. Air Conditioning and monitoring. -Special flooring for comfort and cleanliness. -Playground equipment and play pool with artificial grass and canopies for shade. -Integrated HVAC system and monitoring to ensure safety in summer months. -Special epoxy flooring system with non-porous finish to keep pets cozy and protected from bacteria exposure. -Park style landscape features playground equipment and a play pool. -TVs in the buildings play pet-friendly shows to provide comfort so that your pet feels right at home. -Shade canopies and misting systems so your pet can lounge leisurely with the intense Phoenix sun kept at bay. So it had been awhile since I'd utilized Jet Pet, but I remembered loving them previously and trusted them again while I was away in NYC for a wedding with my husband. I left my kids and my older dog, Georgia with my father in law for the weekend, but decided to treat Neymar, my 8 month old puppy, to a staycation at JPR. Based on the report card I received, the pictures that were posted, and how tired Neymar was when I picked him up five days later, he had an absolute blast! I swear - he was sad to leave when I drove him home! I'll definitely return for boarding... and perhaps even some doggy daycare too. I board my pup here and have always been nervous prior to coming here about having him stay somewhere without me, he can be a handful. Pet boarding... cat boarding specifically. Was something i was nervous to do. Would they treat my baby like I do? Will they care for him? I had so many fears.. BUT they won me and my cat (theo) over. First took him when he was about 5 months, and then a couple more times. A year later i took him back so I could leave town for a week. Jetpet really cares about pets. They have an instagram you can follow for updates/photos of your pet. They really do take the time to play, feed, and give your pet attention. They love my cat, and he loves them too! The staff is so kind and the cat boarding prices are good. I recommend jetpet to everyone I know who has a cat or dog. I moved further away and still drive my cat there (the total drive there and back is an hour). But i trust this place SOOO much that the drive is worth it! Anything to have my pet in good hands. From the beginning - when I looked it up online the kennel was pictures of dogs in beds, big rooms, and I expected that because of the cost. When we got there, it looked like a shelter during our tour. Our dog had one small cot and all the dogs were so loud. I had to leave because we had no back up plan for the dog and we were going on vacation. I would not have left her there once I saw what it looked like. *Note that this review is for cat boarding.* I cannot say enough wonderful things about Jet Pet Resort PHX! I had been hesitant to adopt a cat because I was concerned about what I would do when I travel. However, I found a little guy who stole my heart and adopted a kitten who's blind about a year ago. I don't like to leave him at my apartment when I travel because I don't like the idea of him being alone for so long. I've boarded Franklin here several times. The car is totally not his place to be - but whenever we arrive and go inside he immediately calms down and is excited when the staff greet him. Every time I pick him up, while he's excited to see me, he isn't overly needy, which to me tells me that his care while at Jet Pet Resort is excellent! As far as actually booking, the process is incredibly simple. The first time I sent in his health/immunization records as well as filled out forms about feeding specifics and details about his behavior/mannerism. Now they have an account for my cat. So whenever I need to book a stay for him, all I have to do is send an email to get him set up. I do appreciate that they always check when I drop Franklin off if there's anything new about behaviors or feeding for them to adjust. Lastly, the price for boarding is very reasonable. Absolutely not. I toured the facility, it looked good, but my poor cat was left to rot to the point of becoming feral in her kennel because the untrained albeit very sweet young ladies were afraid of a 6 pound cat. Yes, she has attitude, but my little rescue is very affectionate when treated properly. It was a longer board, and they just ignored her, fed her, cleaned her box, but ignored her. Do NOT bring a kitty here. read more

From what I can see, this place only hires people that actually care about animals. They pretty much love our two furballs that stay with them every time we leave town. Do I know that the blankets we bring make their way into their kennel? No, but no way of knowing. Which brings me to the internet camera of which they don't have. That is literally the only item on my checklist that they do not have. It would be nice to see them while we are out of town. Even if it was just a 20 video over the course of the day. Pet parents like me just want a momentary bit of reassurance that their baby is doing ok without them! Other than that, no worries about Jet Pet treating them right and them enjoying themselves. Huge to have that weight off my shoulders when we leave town. I used to have to search and match schedules with homesitters, but now, it's soooo much easier and it isn't giving up anything. read more

This place is amazing. The staff is super friendly and has great customer service, replies quickly and and whole process was just so easy. We boarded my dog overnight for our wedding and she loved it. She doesn't get along very well with many dogs but she didn't have any problems because they do a behavior assessment and put her with a group of dogs depending on her characteristics. She was so happy to get there she wouldn't even say bye to me which made it easier on me as it was her first time being boarded. They gave her her medications and even sent her home with a report card! I'm sure she will be excited to come back one day! read more

I've been taking my puppy to Jet Pet (previously Tailwinds) for about a year and a half, and she absolutely loves it. We had gone to two other daycare places in the valley before we found Jet Pet, and we had problems with each place... but no problems with Jet Pet. When I drop my puppy off, she is excited to go, and sometimes I have to coax her into the car to leave, because it's not as much fun at home. She also gets boarded here when I'm out of town, which is about once a month, and she gets fabulous care while I'm gone, as evidenced by the photos that they post on Facebook. Extremely disappointed and very angry dog owner today! I took my dog here recently for his 3rd and Final visit. My first 2 visits were great, but the last one lost my faith for good on their unprofessional and uncaring service. I have a Frenchie with a very sensitive stomach. In the multiple page application they have you fill out I mention that, as well as advised them that the cause of his stomach ailments is rawhide treats. In fact I put on his application that he is ALLERGIC to rawhides and mentioned not to give it to him because he gets bad diarrhea. So when I took him the last time, my dog apparently threw a "temper tantrum" which usually means he squeals really loud when you crate him. I advised the owner of this and she assured me they get that all the time and they can handle it. Well let me tell you how they "handled" it. Yup, to quiet him up, they gave him a rawhide treat which he swallowed whole. When the handler that day told me that I was extremely upset. And rightfully so because tonight my poor guy is suffering from awful diarrhea. He is not as active and constantly having to go. What compounded matters more is the gal at the desk was looking over my paperwork to see where I mentioned rawhide and she couldn't find out. I advised her that the paperwork she was reading wasn't mine, and then she laughed it off when she realized her mistake and thought it read wrong because the documents described a cat's history. I was already so angry that they did not read my paperwork, but she was so unskilled to realize the difference between a cat and a dog. I had to point out her error, opposed to her not figuring out that my dog was not abandoned by a cat like the paperwork said. Ugh!!!! When I first visited I was also advised that I shouldn't worry about treats because rawhide is not one of them. Well guess what, it is. If you take your dog here, make sure they read your documents. Go over everything with them and mention your dogs issues, otherwise you'll end up like me staying up to take care and clean up after your sick puppy. read more

I wrote the following review based on a phone call because I thought people needed to know about this. After the not-so-pleasant call to Tailwinds, I did some more research. And I found Smelly Dog. I almost didn't call because of the name. Schooner and I visited there this afternoon and the place looks pretty good...and they do NOT charge that ridiculous $10 fee for the temperment test. Schooner, of course, did great because that's the kind of dog he is. He is scheduled to go play there one day next week so we'll see how that goes. Read on for my initial review, which, after the owner's unremarkable comments, stands. I was shocked she didn't even want to try to earn my business. If you're looking for an overpriced place for your pooch where they'll call you a liar on the phone, not apologize for it, then not even bother to earn your business, Tailwinds is it! Thankfully, I know I'm a great customer and I have plenty of options when it comes to spending my money on my pet. I'd love to try this place out, but as someone who knows dogs and knows my dog, the idea of paying someone $10 to find out what I already know about my dog is ridiculous. The young lady I just spoke with was as polite as she could be, but just because other dog owners have lied about their dog's temperment does not mean I am. I was offended. It felt like I was being called a liar. By the end of the conversation, all I could say was to tell the owner she's losing business and to have a nice day. Now, signing on to Yelp, I see there are some free days for new clients. Well, maybe if the young lady had bothered to mention that I might have reconsidered. I still do NOT like what amounts to a ridiculous fee (that only one other place has done and I was able to convince them not to charge that fee). Gilbert Dogs remains my favorite doggie day care place! Sadly, the day I was calling about requires my dog and I to be up at Villa la Paws for an evening class and our first day care experience there was not stellar. Plus, they're the only other dog day care place that tries to bilk out an additional $10 for this temperment test. I'll give you references. I'll bring him in for a quick visit. But I am NOT paying that fee. It's the principle of the thing at this point. By the way, I easily spend $30 to $40 a week on doggie day care at Gilbert Dogs and the one other place Schooner loves, Four Paws Pet Resort in Mesa. If Tailwinds doesn't want my money (and the money of people I will talk to about this conversation), then so be it. Apparently you have enough business to make for a nice, profitable bottom line without my money. And what a shame that Schooner's very large fan club won't include the wonderful people at Tailwinds. This place is impressive looking but for daycare the price is a little ridiculous. The main reason I am only giving it 2 stars is that I feel tha I am constantly being sold to here. The almost make you feel guilty about not having a grooming done on an overnight visit. We selected this location because it is somewhat near the airport and we had read other nice reviews. However, Jet Pet has kept a lot of the same structure and policy as Tailwinds and not much has changed other than the name! Daisy Dog is a Pit Bull/Dalmatian mix with a sunny disposition and a whole lot of energy. In the cooler months she gets to go to the dog park, but when it gets too hot for her humans to play with her outside, she visits the well-manicured Tailwinds daycare facility conveniently located near my office in downtown Phoenix Daisy has been a Monday-Wednesday-Friday regular at Tailwinds this summer. I purchased their buy 10 get 1 free package, so I only pay $20 for a full day, from 7:30am to 6:30pm. She gets lots of time in the water, playing ball, and socializing with other dogs in the pink group that have similar temperaments. The staff treats her like one of their own. Daisy can't wait to get out of the car when we arrive and greets them enthusiastically, ready for her daily activities. I will often see her through the gate as I am leaving the property already running and playing in the grass outside. It's reassuring to know that she has the option of a safe and happy place to spend her day instead of waiting at home alone for her people to arrive from work. At the end of the day she usually gets a big hug and sometimes even a kiss from one of the staff members. Daisy usually falls asleep on the car ride home and is blissfully wiped out for the rest of the night. The only bad thing I have to say about Tailwinds is that my sweet girl never wants to leave! Other than the want for some extra shade for morning drop offs in the summer sun to protect paws from hot pavement, this property is truly top-notch. read more

I continue to go here because I can tell 100% my dog is taken care of. They know him by his name when we walk in for boarding. He never comes home nervous and actually goes right with them when I drop him off. It actually makes me sad he doesn't care. I typically get grooming service every few times and they do a fantastic job as well. His nails are actually cut to an appropriate level versus some places that do a small trim that I don't even notice. They are nice, facility is clean and impressive, and I know 100% my dog is well taken care of. I have zero doubt when I drop him off. He's stayed overnight and he's stayed 8 nights. They do a great job and are worth every penny to have my dog be treated so well in a safe environment. read more

Honestly, I have no idea what a good doggie daycare place is. Since this is the first and only one I visited. And to continue down the path of honesty, I am still a shamed that I pay for a daycare for my dog. But I love my dog. And I like to see him happy and he loves it here. The crew that works here treat him like a little prince. They also greet him and give him special attention when he arrives. I actually have a this countdown when I about to let him out of the car because he runs so fast to get inside that someones I cant hold on to his lead. And I know that it is not some prison of war camp for dogs. Because he hates to leave. He "cries" whenever we leave. Trust me, it uses up all your feels in one go when you see that. And I am saying that a manly bearded no emotions kind of man. It is a little costly but they have a buy 10 get 11 visits program that helps with that. And Tanuki (my dog) only goes 2-3 times a week. So I don't run through my visits that fast. And they are great for boarding as well! Since I travel a lot and do a lot of weekend trips that sometimes mean he needs to board ed, I know I can trust Tailwinds for a spot for my little bruiser. read more

Tailwinds is such a great place to send your pets! My parents have 4 dogs that range in size and age (they are suckers for the humane society) and they often take 7-14 day long trips. They are gone at least once a month, and this is where they take their pets! Their dogs love coming here, and are often quite sad to leave. Thus, once I got my dog Danny, I knew I had a reliable place to take my boy when I am on vacation! He loves playing with all of the other animals that are there, and the staff takes really great care of him. The groomer on property is also fantastic! Danny is half Pomeranian and has quite a bit of unruly hair, so he is difficult to take maintain 100% all of the time. The groomer here gives me tips on how to keep him healthy, and they always do such a wonderful job on him! He is such a stud muffin! I 100% recommend Tailwinds, without a doubt! read more

Our dear kitten will be spending time here in a short while, so we took a tour today. I cannot say enough for this place. It is everything I could ask for in a boarding facility. We did tour another facility but it pales in comparison to Tailwinds. While doing our research, a lot of places have age requirements that our kitten just could not fit (she's 2 months old) and yet, Tailwinds opened their doors to her. The facility for the cats is indoor and literally an apartment (someone actually lives in it!) -- with a full kitchen, bathroom, tv, etc -- just accented with a few kennels. Our dear kitten will have opportunity to play as she wishes (under supervision since she is so little) -- at no extra charge, a rarity as I discovered. She will get all of her toys she wishes, her blanket... plus she will get to watch tv and interact with other kitties is she so desires! The staff is incredibly professional and kind. The place is spotless and the price is amazing for what they offer. I will not take my kitten anywhere else! read more

Jet Pet is not just for dogs! My kitty Bruno stayed at Jet Pet and he was thoroughly pampered--I think he might have been disappointed to come home! There is a separate upstairs area for the cats that is quiet away from any noise from dogs barking. The cats have their own little private condo area. Whenever I would call and check in, the staff were great and provided me with an update promptly. Bruno even made it to their Instagram page! We had a great experience and would certainly recommend Jet Pet to others! read more

My beagle Sidekick has been to Tailwinds over 50 times and we have never had a problem! I used to take my dog here daily for day care and I have never had a bad experience. He is always in a great mood when I go to pick him up and he is typically tired which makes me think he gets plenty of exercise. I am always hesitant of services I don't get to monitor, such as doggy day care, but Tailwinds has never gave me a reason to question their services. We have also boarded Sidekick here for up to 4 days and we have never had any problems. He requires special instructions due to allergies and it seems everything was followed correctly. The facility is very nice and it seems like there is plenty of room in the kennels and play area. My only suggestion is to provide a little more feedback in terms of daily activities completed and dog behavior. When my dog was a puppy it would have been really helpful to hear how he did during the day. I think it would be refreshing to learn about his day, so I can be more confident that my dog is receiving the proper care. Keep up the good work and I am sure we will be back soon. read more

After a horrible experience at Second Home Pet Resort, we were on the lookout for a new home for our pup while we were away. Enter Tailwinds. Conveniently only 2 minutes from our home in the Coronado, our friendly Aussie charmed his way on in, made tons of friends and didn't even want to come home! My tired boy is feeling great (though napping) and we have no digestive inconveniences. He's already looking forward to his next visit for Thanksgiving! He may even go back sooner if we end up going on a few little weekend trips between now and then. Thanks Tailwinds for being awesome! And the nightly all inclusive rate is great. You know the saying, "A good dog is a tired dog"? This place will help you have a good dog! I've boarded my 8 month old puppy here twice and taken her countless times for daycare. She loves the daycare, in the morning I'll say, "ready for daycare" and she'll run to the door and drag me to the car! When we pull up she gets really excited in the car too! The best part is, she comes home exhausted from playing all day and sleeps like an angel. I've been using the daycare a lot more now that it's so hot and I can't walk her as much. The pricing seems reasonable to me, especially considering all the benefits. This place doesn't charge you extra for playtime or anything like some places do. They will also post videos to facebook of the dogs playing - it makes my day when I see my puppy in one of them! read more

Tailwinds has been my go-to daycare and boarding place for some time now, and it really is a top-notch operation. It starts with the design of the facility: nice, gated entry to allow owners to enter one-at-a-time with their dogs as needed, and a beautiful area for dogs to roam with artificial grass and separate large, cylindrical buildings for indoor activities (dogs are kept separated by size/activity level). As advertised, there are snacks and "educational TV" for the dogs inside. Staff is more than happy to give you updates on your little one(s). In the end, my dog's reaction is my most reliable barometer. While he will sometimes cry or pull away when we go to another daycare business, he's actually excited to run through the gates when he realizes we are at Tailwinds. I highly recommend it. read more

Tailwinds is a fantastic place for our 3 dogs! We take them there for play days 3 times a week and some times for overnights when we are gone for vacation. They are learning to be more social with other dogs and come home EXHAUSTED & HAPPY! We recently used Tailwinds for our 2 Yorkies and when we picked them up after 8 days they both had ticks (total of 7). We had just bathed them the day we brought them in so they were pest free when we brought them in. We have used them in the past and the facility looks very clean and well run. The staff needs to be more diligent in keeping the facilities pest free and when returning dogs to the owners check for ticks first. We will probably not go back again. Update 8/8/12 We have been in contact with the management and they are implementing additional procedures to help ensure that this unfortunate incident does not reoccur in the future. They expressed a sincere concern over our pets well being and have taken steps to make things right. read more

I can't say enough great things about Tailwinds. I've boarded here and we do daycare twice weekly. The hours are great and the prices are extremely reasonable, especially in light of how much my dog loves it. You can't argue with her reaction to getting near the place - she vibrates with excitement. The staff always greet her by name when we arrive and are always willing to have a brief chat about her day. You can tell that they enjoy animals and that they truly interact with them. The facility has an awesome set up and is always clean - I never worry about my dog's security. A great side benefit since she's been going to daycare is that her social skills have improved tremendously. She's very blasé about interactions with other dogs nowadays. I also LOVE the short little videos that are occasionally posted on the Tailwinds Facebook page. Getting to see my dog having loads of fun makes me very happy indeed. read more

Tailwinds came highly recommended from a friend. I reached out to them as I have a trip planned the last week in June of 2017 where I would be gone for 3 days. I spoke with tailwinds, and was told to start the intake process I would need to fill out pet profiles for every dog staying at their resort. I downloaded them and filled out 5 profiles for them. I took the paperwork in the next day and was given a tour. All of my dogs are rescues and I stated that, as well as them having treat aggression. A couple of the animals have had incidents where people have entered our property unannounced and have been bitten. However, I stated when supervised these five furry animals do listen and respond well when instructed. I was then told all shots must be current which is standard and that all 5 dogs need their parvo shots. I told tailwinds it would be done Monday and I'd bring their records in then. Once I arrived Monday with the records I was told that the owner had viewed all 5 of my dogs pet profiles and decided that none of my dogs could be cared for in June. My dogs had not even had the chance to prove themselves in their temperament visits which I was also told needed to happen individually on separate dates, which I was ok with. I was more caught off guard that this decision had already been made and nobody bothered to call me before hand. In stead after 3 hours at the vet, getting through central Phoenix traffic with everything I thought I needed up until this point. I was greeted very coldly, then told about the owners decision that none of my animals would be accepted there for boarding. Now I adopt, rescue regularly, foster and volunteer within the Arizona animal community and I found this place to be the most unsettling, unprofessional pet resorts I've ever encountered. Now I could understand turning away my dogs that have bitten, who I must be clear about do not show aggression when supervised and guided (unless given treats all at once) but to not even offer for my animals who have good history the opportunity to be a part of the tailwinds resort family was upsetting. I have found the facility to be nice and the young woman I met who was keeping the dogs company on my tour to be very friendly, welcoming and relaxing. The owner seems to not be considerate and caring of her potential guests feelings. I would not suggest this resort as the intake process is long, difficult if you work full time and unprofessional when turning guests and their families away. My animals have been to pet resorts from here to Alaska and while I answer honestly on all intake forms I have never been told of any incidents where my dogs don't listen and don't take commands. I suggest checking all of your options before settling on tailwinds. Save yourself the hassle and trouble. I apologize for the one star but if I am being honest, I am hurt that my furry family wasn't even given a chance. Nobody called me to discuss not coming in with anymore necessary paperwork, not even to discuss the decision that was made and instead handed back half of the paperwork already brought in and sent away. We have boarded our dog here a few times for 2-3 day periods when we were out of town. Once you have completed the intake paperwork and the temperament test, reserving boarding space there appears to be fairly easy. Their facility (what I have seen of it, not sure they give tours) appears nice, and our dog doesn't appear to have had any adverse experiences the times we have left him there. You don't get any sort of report card when you pick your pet up. But he always seems happy. I will say that during one stay, we asked for him to be groomed, and when we picked him up, he didn't really smell or look any different than before. By contrast, we recently boarded him at a different facility in Scottsdale because we had to also board our cats and one of them needed to take medication that was being prescribed by the vet practice at the facility. Not only was the boarding cheaper, but the dog smelled yummy and looked fluffy when we picked everyone up. Also, Tailwinds weekend pickup hours (by 4 pm) are inconvenient if you're flying back in from out of town, and most trips I have had to take time out from my work on Monday to go and pick the dog up. Of course, we then incur a charge for an extra night of boarding, and my son doesn't get to see his dog until the next day after school :-( So overall, for boarding they are fine, no glaring deficiencies, but I think other boarding facilities offer better value and service. read more
