We have driven by the Persian Room many times and FINALLY got to take Ann there yesterday. WOW! Of all of the dining rooms we have seen in Tucson this is by FAR the most elegant ambiance in all of the Tucson area: massive vaulted ceilings with intricantly painted sky scenes, gorgeous drapery, seemingly marble columns, tiled floors, and deluxe tables, chairs and booths! And that is NOTHING compared to their food! They first provided pita, mint leaves and sliced onion. Ann had their "chicken Barg" with exquisitely tasty basmati rice and vegetables. I had the Lamb Koobideh-A mixture of ground lamb minced onions and seasonings, skewered and broiled. Tender, wonderfully seasoned and one of the most tasty meats I have ever had! Lank, our server, was conservatively attired, quiet and yet very friendly, well informed, and professional. It would make a most elegant wedding reception that the newlyweds would remember for the rest of their lives. Just a heads up, this will be a bad review. This place is confusing, it says fine dining, but just charging way more than in customary for the dishes doesn't make it fine dining. In the end it's just poor middle eastern restaurant. There are a lot of middle eastern options in Tucson and all are cheaper and better than this, fine dinning. First, the service was fine and the ambiance is that of an old school Italian place which is fine. The place was empty. Now for the food. They bring you dry lavash with roughly cut raw white onions, cilantro, and some mint, that has seen better days with bottom basement food service butter packets. Apparently you're supposed to smear this 'butter' on the lavash and then put a slice of raw white onion and herbs on it. It's as bad as it sounds. Fine dining. Seriously, chop all that up with some olive oil or some real butter, put some effort into it. Fine dining is about the effort and quality put into the dish not just the high prices. I got what was essentially a steak and chicken skewer. It came with plain rice, dry flavorless chicken, and about 2-3oz of beef sliced thin and laid out to 'look' more substantial. It was all dry except the steak. They did not provide pita, hummus, or labneh, or anything any other middle eastern place would provide, which was sorely needed because everything was dry. Fine dining. My wife has a saucy chicken and a special rice, I don't remember what they called it, but what it was just the same dry rice with fruit and some seasoning mixed in. Not cooked together with care, like you would expect at any middle eastern restaurant or fine dining establishment, just stuff added to already done rice right before serving. She was not pleased. Everything screamed skimpflation, but this is fine dining that is charging a premium so there is no excuse for cutting corners or being cheap with the dishes or effort. This place had an overall great ambience and well designed place felt high end. I've had a fair share of Persian food and I was recommended to come to this spot. The food I would say was good but not over spectacular in my opinion. We got the Persian room special which came with chicken, beef, koobideh, rice and it was decent I enjoyed the beef more than the chicken, I felt it could of had more seasoning and taste and was prob a 7.5/10 overall. The fassenjan i had for first time and that was really good 8/10 and was tasty. The salt drink doogh that I was told was good was honestly not for me, for some reason people enjoy it would give it a 3/10, really just tastes like straight up salt and water. Everything else overall was decent the waiter was okay he could of been more prompt as we had to repeat few times a few things for him to bring some items, but it was busy so gave him a break. I cannot believe I have driven past this unassuming restaurant so many times without stopping until now. Walking in there is a beautiful water feature, dim lighting and beautiful decor. The smell of fresh cooked pita bread wafts throughthe room and is brought to you quickly while you have a chance to puruse the menu. 2 Warnings/Huge Perks of Eating here: 1. Delicious homemade pita bread... try not to fill up on only pita bread. 2. If you order an entree be prepared to bring half home. These are GENEROUS portions. We split a delicious appetizer of Kash O'Bademjan delicious with the pita bread or scooped up with a spoon. The leftovers from this made a delicious lunch the next day. The Koobideh is quite possibly the best thing I have ever had. Flavorful beef with minced onions etc and served with basmati rice. We have been dining at Persian Room Scottsdale since 2015 and we have never had a bad experience. Had a planned trip to Tucson and decided to try this location. It is a lot smaller than the original location but the food is consistent. I would have to say though, a bit disappointed with the bread. It was premade and not like the Scottsdale location. Wow, wow, wow! I've eaten here twice now and I can't wait until my next visit. First, the ambience. From the outside, you're not really sure what to expect, but once you step inside you're immediately transported to the old world and all of its charm. The fountain in the lobby. The huge red draperies. The chandeliers! It's truly one of a kind. Now, the food. Yes prices are a little on the higher end, but the portions are gigantic and the food is so, so, so delicious. You start with complimentary bread--made in house--which is served with fresh basil, cilantro, and mint and a special type of onion, grown in California, as our server told us. There's also butter. A simple combination of this delicious bread, fresh herbs, and the onion is so yummy! A great way to rev up your appetite. I also love their raspberry iced tea--unsweetened and perfectly made! It the perfect complement to the meal. For entrees, I've gotten the shish kabob both times. The meat is tender and perfectly seasoned. It also comes with a generous serving of rice, a grilled tomato, and onions and peppers. All done perfectly. My husband has gotten one of the chicken dishes and it was so tender and juicy. My mom got the salmon and it too was perfect. My dad got the gyro and that came with sooo much meat. Everything just so yummy and perfect. For dessert we've tried the baklava and the Persian ice cream--both delicious! Service is solid, if just a tad slow, but nothing that hinders the experience. On our most recent visit, our server gave us a lot of good explanations and information. My only gripe with this place has to do with the bill. There's a 3% charge if you use a credit card--seems beneath a "fine dining" establishment, in my opinion. Also there was an automatic 20% tip for "large" parties which here is 5 or more people. Not a deal breaker--I'm fine with a 20% tip--and next time I'll just be sure to bring more cash. Just a heads up! We came here for the first time last night for dinner. The decor was maximalist and felt fancy. It really was a vibe, and it was really cool. We were seated promptly and our friendly server brought us delicious lavash that was freshly baked. We also ordered some hummus as an appetizer. They had shakers of sumac on the table, which was a yummy touch. For our entree, we ordered the Persian room sampler that came with filet, chicken tenderloins, and kibbeh. My new very favorite restaurant. I went for a quick lunch today (before an appt because I really wanted to try it, but I highly recommend you allow time to enjoy the experience and amazing food). I was greeted by a very friendly man... The service was excellent. I ordered the yogurt and cucumber dip with a glass of wine. I got a chicken kebab lunch special that comes with salad, rice and a tomato. All dishes come with a huge bunch of fresh herbs and onions, fresh, pita and butter. It was a very calming nice environment. I brought my food home and it was absolutely delicious. It had flavor, great seasoning, great care and an abundance of bread and sauce. The service was amazing as always, our server was so nice & attentive so really appreciated him. Food portions are great! I ordered the gyro platter after having it last time and had loved it the first time! Sadly, this second time, I found that the food was not up to the same standard I had tasted which was a bummer for sure. Last time the gyro meat tasted fresh and exquisite, this time the gyro meat was in rounds...looked overly processed and packaged. Not horrible, but not fine dining quality. We made a reservation just incase cause the parking lot always seems busy when we drive by. Our waitress was attentive and personable. The food was served in a timely manner. We started with the hummus which was delicious! The entrees were huge and I thought they could be easily shared by two but my husband said he could have easily finished it because the meat was seasoned and cooked so well. The rices were so fluffy and flavorful. I had the lamb loin which was perfection at medium rare. My husband had the sultani which was the filet and the koobideh. I was so full but my husband always has room for dessert so we got the baklava with Persian ice cream. I loved the Persian ice cream, not overpowering. I didn't care for the baklava because I like a crispy phyllo and the nuts had a slight bitterness to them in some bites. My husband loved it though. Not really sure how to review this place. It may be good on Tucson standards but not on Atlanta standards. Rice was greasy. Grilled tomatoes were not grilled well and were hard. My lamb chops were good but unevenly cooked. Some well done and some with red blood coming out. Bread at the beginning was kind of thin. They gave you a few herbs and some onion and butter. No radish, my plate was lacking in mint had a few basil leaves and mostly a parsley. No cheese. No walnuts. Trading was fried rice. Visited for the first time to celebrate an anniversary and had an incredible experience. The atmosphere of the restaurant felt truly upscale, making it the perfect quiet and romantic date night option. Food tasted homemade, with large portions. Also one of the only places you can get cherry rice in Tucson. The staff made you feel like royalty, the woman with glasses who was our server was excellent! Loved the pomegranate wine as well. First time here a week ago. I've never been to a Persian restaurant. I enjoyed my meal, taste great. Not know anything about the cuisine I don't know how to judge it any other way than taste. The place was very clean, staff were great. We went on a Thursday night and I think there were about 6 groups of people enjoying and only one waiter. So service was a little slow but we were in no hurry so it was actually nicer having time to chat with the guest we brought with us. I kinda equate the meal as similar to Greek food but with different spices used. A different taste. We live northeast, so going here for dinner is basically same as going to Phoenix for dinner. But we finally made it!! We made a reservation, which I highly recommend for weekends. It's a nice atmosphere with tables close enough so you can see what everyone is eating to help make your decision but far enough so you don't have to worry about people listening to your convos. They bring an appetizer which is very unique - pita, that you butter, then add raw white onion and fresh mint, basil and I think it was cilantro. Seems weird - raw onion? But it works. We also ordered hummus to start which was tasty. The pita is made fresh there and brought warm from the pizza oven (?) in front. For dinner I had lamb shanks which is served with a dill rice with fava beans. Lamb super tender. Amazing sauce and insane amount of rice. Soo good. The husband got the ground beef dish with name I can't remember. Huge portion. His dinner that night, plus dinner next night too. Very flavorful. Our friends got the Persian shared platter. This is not Mediterranean food even if there are few shared ingredients- this is a cuisine on its own. I came on a weekday around lunchtime. Stood at the front for about 5 minutes with no one there. Saw staff walking by but no acknowledgement. Walked into the seating area and was acknowledged, told I can sit anywhere. Waiter came around and asked what I would before noticing I had no menu, he apologized and brought me one. I ordered the chicken shish lunch plate. Food came out in a timely manner. The precursor was some Persian bread, sliced white onions, cilantro, and butter. I wasn't quite sure how to eat this in an appropriate way but the bread was delicious. As for the entree, the salad portion was very warm, the chicken was not very flavorful and dry/burnt in some spots but not bad, the rice was actually the best part being so fluffy. I usually take the grilled tomato served with the food and half of the rice and mash the tomato into the rice and squeeze some lemon, not sure if that is what you are supposed to do but it always tastes great. Be sure to remove the burnt parts of the grilled tomato. The other half of the rice I leave alone and have it as a palate cleanser. Some things to consider: I was going to choose the chicken filet since it seemed like it had more meat than the shish but if they are flavored the same then I am glad I went with the shish because the red and white onions part of the shish were so delicious probably because they may have been buttered. The lunch special says you can choose between a salad or a grilled tomato but I got both. The interior decoration at this place is very nice, totally loved the vibe. read more

While the food is good and the ambiance is unique, I was troubled by this restaurants business ethics, or should I state accurately, lack of business ethics. When the check arrived, a non alcoholic drink listed at $4.75, showed on the bill as $12.50. I asked the waiter to correct the bill and present it again. He was distraught and asked if I would simply deduct the amount from his tip, because he was fearful of losing his job if he went to the owner - who had prepared the check - and asked that the correction be made. Sorry, I will not be party to an obviously overbearing, and threatening owner mistreating an employee! I started with nothing and built a thriving business. Never in 40 plus years would I ever consider mistreating an employee. I won't go back and I don't recommend that anyone else patronize this establishment. The are many restaurants in Tucson with good food. I'm disgusted. And I did not deduct from the tip and I paid the $7.75 extra! read more
