Returning after about a year with out of town visitors for our last dinner before they head home…read moretomorrow. It seemed like the menu had been updated with more and improved selections. We ordered drinks and studied the menu some and put in orders for the Aspasia and hummus plates along with the big (we had no idea it was that big) family mix grill and chicken and beef shawarma. We received the Aspasia plate first and it was delicious! The kibbeh was so good but so was everything else. The mixed grill plate was awesome. The hummus and baba ghanoush were incredible. I don't think I can get enough superlatives into this write up to fully convey not only how good this food is but also how authentic it all was. Of course our server timed all the deliveries to our table so that everything came out correctly and at the right time. The inside of the restaurant is actually a big room, sparsely decorated with simple tables and chairs but again it added to the charm and authenticity of the cafes from the Middle East region. There is no other place in Tucson like this and I highly recommend this to you to go and try. There is plenty here to try and enjoy.

Of…read moreall of the dining rooms we have seen in Tucson this is by FAR the most elegant ambiance in all of the Tucson area: massive vaulted ceilings with intricantly painted sky scenes, gorgeous drapery, seemingly marble columns, tiled floors, and deluxe tables, chairs and booths! And that is NOTHING compared to their food! They first provided pita, mint leaves and sliced onion. Ann had their "chicken Barg" with exquisitely tasty basmati rice and vegetables. I had the Lamb Koobideh-A mixture of ground lamb minced onions and seasonings, skewered and broiled. Tender, wonderfully seasoned and one of the most tasty meats I have ever had! Lank, our server, was conservatively attired, quiet and yet very friendly, well informed, and professional. It would make a most elegant wedding reception that the newlyweds would remember for the rest of their lives. It was a little more pricey than we would normally spend for a typical night out, but this was a deferred Mother's Day outing, and the portions were very generous (I just had the second half for a next day dinner)!

We arrived at 12:30 and they were slammed. No available parking, so my daughter dropped me off (so sweet) and parked a couple doors down. The dining room was packed and noisy. The young man who greeted us said he'd have a table in ten minutes or we could sit in the air conditioned patio area. That's what we did. The patio was quiet and a large fan blowing over a trough of ice kept us cool and comfortable. We started with an appetizer of hummus, tzatziki, pita, and dolmades, with sliced cucumbers and tomatoes. The tzatziki was the best I've had. The sliced veggies were great so my celiac daughter could scoop the yummy spreads instead of pita. As lamb lovers, we ordered the lamb kabob plate and the lamb clay pot. The plate came with scrumptious rice, Greek salad, and sliced veg. The clay pot was filled with diced potatoes, tomatoes, and tender cubes of lamb, beautifully seasoned. So much delicious food! Our waiter offered dessert, but we were stuffed and settled for to-go boxes. I had an excellent lunch for two more days! As a big fan of Mediterranean food, I don't know how I could have missed Istanbul, but my first time surely won't be my last.

This place specializes in Turkish/Mediterranean food. There have various appetizers, pita sandwiches, entrees and dessert. I got the diner sandwich, which is pictured in the photo, pieces of beef & lamb mixed kebab sliced thinly served in a pita with red onion, lettuce, tomatoes and tzatziki sauce. It comes with your choice of Greek salad or fries. Their fries at crispy, not soggy. The meat was well seasoned and the spices the meat was seasoned with come through! It you want slices typical to kebabs or gyro sandwiches, get the Istanbul pita, which was what my husband got. Lots of seating for small and big groups! Service was decent, but not sure how it is on a really busy night. We came at lunch time, so about 8-9 tables and our server didn't check in on us much after we got our meal, which was out pretty quick after we ordered. We did have to wait and stop her to ask for more napkins and water but other than that, friendly staff. Would recommend checking this place out!

Slivers of moist seasoned chicken with 2 sides and warm pitas. Again have not veered from the 2 sides either, smoky baba ghanouj and silky smooth hummus over fries or side salad. Hubby is also stuck on his Gyro Deluxe $15.75 with Greek Salad. Has the most balanced dressing, just oily & tart enough but a tad sweet. Asked the owner, Reyna who is a delight btw, that I had met on our 2nd visit what exactly was in it...simply oil & vinegar turns out, the latter being Apple Cider not Red Vinegar..aha, the slight sweet. The menu has the Middle Eastern go-tos that we ordered but read along and discover it leans Jordanian and is quite extensive with family platters and stews. Notably too, their bar stocks several Middle Eastern beers, that we still need to pop. Dining Room is fairly small with a few tables and wall painted murals, and a couple of outdoor tables on the walkway in too. Unassuming location in the back of the strip mall, with ATL Wings and Peter Piper Pizza, across from Park Place Mall. Be sure to nav it here for fantastic Middle Eastern fare and maybe discover some new Jordanian dishes too...I'm working on it haha!
