We recently had dinner at Turkish Kebab House and really enjoyed our experience. Our waitress, Angel, was excellent. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal without ever being intrusive. We started with the Mezze Platter, and it was a great choice. The hummus and babaganush were especially delicious, fresh, flavorful, and a perfect way to begin the meal. For our entrees, we ordered the Beyti Sarma and the Chicken Sis. Both dishes were very tasty and well prepared. The only surprise was that the Chicken Sis appeared to be made entirely with dark meat. We don't mind dark meat, but it would be helpful if the menu mentioned that so guests know what to expect. To finish the meal, we shared the baklava and a Turkish coffee. The baklava was delicious, and the Turkish coffee was an excellent way to end the evening. The only other observation is that the prices are a bit on the high side, but that's becoming fairly common with many quality restaurants today. Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere made for a very enjoyable dining experience, and we'd happily return. read more

Can't believe I had no eaten here yet. Tucked away in Geronimo Plaza this place has indoor and cozy outdoor seating. Flavorful food... we had the Mezze Platter which I enjoyed as a meal. The beyti sarma was delicious and beautifully presented. Large portion sizes. Staff were good about explaining/ describing the dishes if asked. The street car has a stop by the plaza and there is a parking garage adjacent ( it does cost to park... but worth it). This place is close to the university- so street parking is available but challenging. Will definitely return. read more

Cute quiet little place tucked back on University Blvd. We tried the Turkish coffee (tiny cup, very tasty, thick at the bottom of the cup when finished- maybe it was supposed to be stirred?!) and hot apple tea (yum!) There were a variety of dishes, all sounding delicious, but opted for a couple wraps (preferred the taste of the falafel one over the beef/lamb.) Service was a little slow and they mixed up our wraps (we didn't realize it until a few bites in) but overall, it's a nice little place with a good selection of eats and drinks! read more

First time trying Turkish food and it wont be the last. The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating, it seems like a family run business. Very eclectic looking restaurant which was very tastefully decorated in the Turkish style. I had dinner here last night with a friend. We sat outside. It was a slow Monday night; the inside of the restaurant was empty, but there were people at a few other tables outside. I had the Adana Kebab Wrap ($16.95), which came with French fries and a little tub of garlicky yogurt sauce. The kebab meat (lamb and beef) was overly spiced, but otherwise everything was good. We were visiting Tucson and found this little gem. Our server was Angel and she was so friendly and kind. We had the chicken kabob, Greek fries and lentil soup. The chicken was so tender and delicious. The fries with the white sauce were amazing. And even though it was hot outside the soup hit the spot. I had a Gum Mint hookah and it was excellent! I didn't enjoy the Bayti sarma, as it's overpriced for the food quality and taste. Also, the service was lagging, where we had to find the waiter ourselves. I think this is a late night spot for students, but there are better restaurants where the quality/taste is better than my order. read more

Excited to try a new place in the area. Went on a busy night as there was a show nearby but was able to be seated quickly. Server was available to answer questions about the menu and offered suggestions. Decor was authentic with some Turkish lamps near our table. Unfortunately I can't give a good rating of the food. Order of hummus for appetizer didn't show up. Apparently it was given to another table. We did get that after asking again but at that point we had our main plates. The hummus was good but many of the pita were BURNED on the bottom and inedible. Ordered a falafel wrap that came with fries and salad. Unfortunately my wrap was also burned so had to send this back as the taste was not good. Couldn't wait for it to be made again. Came here for lunch with our toddler and enjoyed sitting outside. Servers were friendly and patient with our little one. We enjoyed the mucver as a starter with a side of very fresh salad with yogurt dressing. My husband had Iskender Kebap and I ordered gyro döner. Always looking for something new to try when in the university area for events. Decided to try Turkish Kebab House as its in a great location and had decent reviews. Ordered a diet coke- all they have is cans so doesnt justify $3 costs. When food arrived, we informed waitres we never got the appetizer. The falafel wraps looked pretty on plate but had so littke falafel you couldnt taste it. The actual wrap was very very charred with a bitter nasty burnt taste. Asked to send it back and did not reorder as it to so long first time we could not wait again. Hummus appetizer finally came but once again pita bread burnt. Not grilled, was burnt. When bill arrived was still charged for the fries and salad that came with the wrap despite telling waitress to take it all back. Overall service not great but food was awful. Will not be back. The building was medium space inside and clean. I did like how there's an outside portion. Had good decorations and color scheme. I was excited. The staff didn't speak to me, didn't hand me a menu as they did for previous couple. I get to the counter, I said hello and ordered. The response was "19". I said okay. Gave my card to this gentleman in his hand. Normally people just run my card but he wanted to flip it over to look. When transaction was finished, he put my card on the table. He said, "receipt" and I said no thank you and he walked away from the counter. Didn't say food would be out shortly or will call your name when it's ready. He proceeded to talk with another worker and checked on other guest using sentences. I sat down at the table closet to the door and received odd looks from two servers. Another worker came in and was very nice but I was already uncomfortable. Got my food and left. Didn't feel comfortable eating it so it went into the trash but I will share a picture. Great flavor and sear on a single Adana Wrap lamb/beef spiced minced meat skewer with greens in warmed pita $16.95 with handful of frozen fries, picked sauce, and tbsp of dressed spring leaves. Not the best value Same for $6.95 appetizer of Baba ganouj with a warmed commercial white flatbread. After asking for the check a small snifter of hot black tea is served for free, it's very good. 4 for flavor, 2.5 for value. Maybe entrees are better. I was excited to see Çiğ köfte on their menu. This dish, traditionally, is sometimes made vegetarian/ vegan with bulgur wheat and sometimes with raw meat instead or in addition. In 2008 serving it with raw meat was banned in Turkey so restaurants there serve the vegetarian/ vegan version with Bulgur which is what they serve here at Turkish Kebab house as well and I really enjoyed trying it. It is essentially well spiced- tomato- red pepper paste softened bulgur shaped and eaten with spritz of lemon and lettuce. I was a little disappointed it didn't come with the pickles that were mentioned on the menu for this dish. I enjoyed it as an appetizer with some pita my friend ordered but they also serve it in a wrap. I also enjoyed trying their candid Pumpkin dessert with tahini and nuts. Everything tasted fresh. The women who took our order in limited English said she was Kurdish and a child helped bring our pita. I enjoyed the cultural aspect of eating here. The patio outside was nice and pleasant. Good food and portions overall. We had a party of 4 and came in around 10pm and it was empty inside, the service was attentive and the waiter was helpful with suggesting food and accommodating dietary needs. The only improvement I'd want is for the vegetable casserole to have more seasoning/flavor, since I ate it without the white sauce side dip I had to add salt and pepper to it. However, the rest of the table did really like the white sauce, they said it was like a garlic yogurt with some type of pickle or relish in it. I ordered the Cig Kofte appetizer which was a spicy seasoned dough wrapped in lettuce with lemon (I'd recommend squeezing the lemon over it, it brings out the flavor). It came with a pomegranate sauce that was really good! I even used it as a dressing for my side salad. Also most of the food came with some type of salad/leafy green which was very fresh and a nice addition to the plate. I made my comments on the vegetable casserole above but I will say I still enjoyed it. The veggies and rice were cooked well, and it was a large portion that included little slices of seasoned pita bread. I'm not a fry lover so I can't comment on them, but the table really loved the fries because they were crispy outside and soft inside - they tried the plain fries, Greek fries, and garlic fries. My friends also ordered a variety of the meat platters and some falafel and had only good things to say about their food as well. read more

Must visit! If not for anything else, this was the best baklava I've ever had! We stopped by for dinner on a chilly Friday night. They have space heaters and blankets for the outdoor seats. The vibe is fun with music and videos playing on TVs. They have hookahs available as well. Service was great, we felt like family. We ordered the Salep which is a warm milk drink. It was a nice treat on a cold night. It's mildly sweet and reminds me of fruity pebbles milk. The mezze appetizer is perfect to try a little bit of everything. We really enjoyed the carrot tarator, babaganoush, and acuka in particular, The beef alinazik was delicious. It's well-seasoned beef (or lamb or chicken) over something creamy made from smoked and pureed eggplant. Perfect with the warm pita it's served with. Come for appetizers, not the entrees. We enjoyed the grape leaves, hummus and salad but that's about it. Out of four people not one of us liked our entrees. The service was abysmal. We were one of three tables they had to serve on a Saturday night. The manager/owner? sat down at a table to smoke a hookah, the one or two waiters they had were leaning against the wall most of the time and only came to our table to drop off our food. Never once came back to ask how everything was or if we needed anything. We felt like we were bothering the staff when we needed them to refill our waters and get a few more napkins. Three of us ordered the lamb skewers. The lamb was very tough and very dry. It appeared the lamb had not been marinated or marinated for a long enough time. The rice was tasty. The dish was supposed to have a cooked tomato that was not on the plate. The cabbage salad on top of the green salad was very tasty, the salad part had little flavor. We drove over because of the Yelp rating but we were disappointed. We eat this cuisine often and this did not live up to the Yelp reviews. The service was fine.
