We came here looking for some healthy dinner options in the area during the Tour de Tucson race. The two staff at the counter, who also made our meals, were extremely nice and kind! The food smelled delicious and their menu is simple but has lots of options if you know what I mean! We had from beef and chicken plates, salad, dolma, tzatziki sauce on the side. The super nice lady gave us extra garlic sauce and their house spicy sauce. Overall, it was such a delicious, healthy, full of proteins and veggies! This is my first time ordering urban pita. I ordered chicken Shawarma to be delivered. There was so much oil that it soaked through the bottom of the container. The hummus is very dry with no flavor. The salad had one piece of feta cheese in it. The dressing wasn't bad. The chicken Shawarma itself was absolutely awful. There were no onions absolutely no sauce. It was hard and dry and overcooked. Probably the worst chicken Shawarma I've had anywhere in Tucson. Very disappointed I do not recommend. read more

We called ahead before ordering to make sure what I wanted was gluten free. I was able to enjoy the chicken and garlic sauce bowl with rice and veggies. It was so good and the hummus was also fantastic! They don't have gluten free pita but I had gluten free option at home. My husband loves their loaded fries with gyro meat. I stopped in here around 10pm on a Saturday night. Downtown was busy and there was no crowd here. I had a chicken schwarma. It was ok but could have used more sauce and cucumbers. The bar next door was airing a boxing game that drew in a crowd, but luckily the noise inside the pita place was minimal. I ate facing the window and enjoyed some classic rock. I used to eat here all the time but hadn't been in a while! We went before a concert recently and it was just as good as I remembered! They have a couple gluten free options- I got the chicken shawarma plate with no pita bread and an order of dolmades. All delicious! And the garlic sauce is one of my favorite garlic sauces! So garlicky and delicious!! Unfortunately, their fries are not gluten free- a bummer. But their falafel is labeled gluten free, as is their hummus. Flew into town late after a business trip and needed to grab something decent for dinner. Ran across urban pita and figured we'd give it a shot. After wading through the streets full of drunk college kids we made it to the restaurant. We were welcome by a really friendly employee and ordered our meals. I ordered the Mediterranean fries or something with chicken. My wife and sister both got the falafel plates and my daughter got the chicken shawarma pita. The staff made everything to order including my daughter's custom order. Falafel was pretty good, but the fries were the ticket!! For a late night meal, you can't beat this place. read more

Open 'til 3am, say WHAT!?! We got there around 10pm on Saturday night just before about 15 people walked in so our service was prompt. The older guy behind the register seemed a wee bit "focused" but maybe it's because he was anticipating the slew of people coming in after the bars closed with cases of the drunk hungrys. Anyway, our order was simple enough - two gyros, hold the lettuce and an extra side of tzatziki sauce. Price was very reasonable however the portion was kind of underwhelming. Since I like just a bit of tzatziki on my gyro, the portion on my sandwich was perfect but for my husband, it was no where near enough. So glad we got an extra side of the sauce for him. Meat was very flavorful and tender with a good amount of tomato and onion on the gyro. When this place first opened, I drove 40 minutes to try it out for the first time. The man at the register laughed and gave me a downtown discount when I told him. I'm happy to say, it was well worth the drive. I'm always eager for a good, fast casual Mediterranean restaurant and this joint ticks all the boxes. You can order the pita wraps (aka sandwiches) in regular or large, but the regular is well-sized and makes for a perfect lunch or dinner. I always order the chicken shawarma with garlic sauce - the pita wrap is warmed, the chicken is plentiful and excellently seasoned, the tomato/lettuce combo is fresh, and the garlic sauce itself is well-balanced. I don't know if I'm the only person who cares about this, but I was very happy with how tightly it was wrapped in the pita. Some pita "wraps" are so loosely put together it's more like a pita taco. But this is expertly wrapped as tight as a burrito. It's excellent! The menu isn't small, but it's succinct, which I think is a key to their success. They don't overwhelm themselves, and so put great care in everything they make. Well worth the drive, wherever you live! read more

It's open late AF with people from nearby bars stumbling in for a bite. Based on that alone, I thought Urban Pita was really going to suck, but it doesn't. They have the rare ability to be open late and still actually care to serve a quality product, one that's not overtly greasy at that. You can't go wrong with with a gyro and san pellegrino after midnight. It's the best food you can get at this hour in downtown Tucson. We decided to grab some gyro pitas and call it a night Urban Pita is located on Congress in the same area as HiFi. We went at the wrong time (10:30pm Friday night) as there were so many people out but it didn't stop us We went in and right away, they were available to take our order. Urban Pita is a-ok. It had been a few years, so I thought I'd give them a try again. I placed an order for delivery. I ordered the Steak Shawarma w/ Tahini sauce. I added a side of Shawarma chicken and a date bar for dessert. The delivery was timely and everything was packaged just fine. Unfortunately, the steak shawarma did not come with tahini. Instead it came with garlic sauce and tzatziki sauce. I ordered this dish for the tahini. The steak had a very grainy texture to it that I did not love. Perhaps it was the seasonings/marinade? The pita that comes with the dish is always really good. It's got some fluff to it and it's not dry. The side salad with olives, feta, red onion, tomato and peppers is really good and fresh. The chicken shawarma also tasted better to me. The date bar is not sweet at all, which I expected. It was just right and topped with pistachio and cashews. I went to the new location on Wilmot next to Davis Mouthan AB. I stopped by to pick up meals for my family. The gyro meat did not taste right. the meat's texture felt like ground meat. The fries we ordered were undercooked and greasy. The price I paid for all three meals, I expected more. This was my first time in this location. I usually go to a Greek restaurant on Broadway, I wanted to give this restaurant a try since it was closer to my home. It's my first and last time going there. read more

Lunch here today, large falafel sandwich. They have a pretty extensive menu, unfortunately I didn't see the daily specials before I ordered (see photo below). Prices were reasonable. Service was friendly and reasonably quick, 7-8 minutes before my food was ready. The sandwich was 50% falafel, 50% lettuce and tomato. The falafel patties were freshly fried and had a lot of flavor. The pita bread had a crunch to it that I'm not used to, but I liked it. I sat by the window on one of their square stools. Extremely uncomfortable, and not enough room to put my sandwich down + allow me to read while eating. The seating area is pretty small and was quite crowded so as a solo I was trying not to use up a table. Their chicken shawarma looked excellent, will have to try that next time. The gyros looked pretty spent, like they needed to hang a new slab of gyros meat on it. Summary: good sandwich, spartan seating good value. read more

I saw this place and had to immediately try it. I lived in the suburbs of Detroit and will never forget the shawarma I would get at a restaurant called La Shish. Unfortunately, unless I missed it, there is not Lavash options and it was missing pickles. I also couldn't tell if it had toum on it. The chicken was delicious but without enough sauce it ended up being too dry. Great concept and decent food but not what I was hoping for. If they ever add a chicken shawarma in a lavash with pickles and extra toum to their menu, I would eat there once a week. read more

I had the regular gyro sandwich, just plain this time, well tzatziki sauce of course. The flavor is really good. My wife said flavor of the chicken was really good but just a little dry. I tried it and I think it was good. She passed on the garlic sauce. Maybe that is what helps with the chicken being a little dry? Overall I think a pretty good place. The price was a little high but I think it was pretty worth it. The service was really good too. The two guys that were helping us were really friendly and helpful. This is probably one of my more brutal ratings, but as always, I have to be honest. First, this is just based on this one experience, as I was traveling and will likely not eat here again, so I was very tempted to give 4 stars and not be so harsh. But, it is what it is. Okay, the service. Super prompt, maybe too prompt, could account for the quality of the food. The food. Both my gyro and chicken shawarma were very dry, which was unfortunate, because the seasoning was pretty good. The tzatziki sauce was curdled and not packing much flavor. And the falafel - which I was very excited about - had a distinct burnt flavor. Just overall very unimpressive meal. Hubby and I opted to walk in here on a late lunch. I wanted a gyro but looking at the reviews, decided to try the chicken shwarma plate (not sandwich). SO GOOD. SO.MUCH.FOOD. The only critique I have is all that food (they give you a good 2 cups of chicken and an entire serving- @ 3/4 cup- of hummus AND a salad) is served with one pita bread. No matter how I conserved, I couldn't finish it all with that one pita. 1-1/2 pita is prolly the perfect amount for the plate. We ordered 2 more and I had 1/4 left, which hubby gladly ate. It was good. My one peeve is that the hummus was both oily and saltier than I'd have preferred. Hummus is pretty hard to mess up, so it was kind of disappointing. The chicken was PERFECTLY seasoned though and the pita bread was both warm and perfectly moist. It was decidedly not your typical dry, bagged, pita bread. It was perfection. They don't have a public bathroom in the place, but the bathroom is connected and accessible to paying customers with a key. So, fine. It was at least clean, well-lit, and equipped with everything a bathroom SHOULD have. I was impressed to see dolmades, baba ghanoush, hummus, shwarma, tabouli salad, gyro, spanakopita--or "spinach pocket", AND falafel at the same place. Usually a place specializes in one and offers only maybe 3 tops. I wanted chicken shwarma and hubby couldn't be convinced to try anything else so I'll definitely be back to try other things. The location and parking are pretty good, the store is new and clean, and I love that they have canned drinks (sue me, I hate Tucson water lol). Solid 4/5 with potential to grow. Friendly staff and fun atmosphere! First time here and I had the Steak Shawarma. Chatting with the staff, we learned they makes the shawarma in house. It was incredibly tender and extremely flavorful! My friend got the gyro and enjoyed it as well. We couldn't pass up the baklava for dessert. Someplace it's far too sweet, but the baklava here is on point just like everything else. Will be back for sure! Great Mediterranean food! The Lamb is exceptional and the hummus is flavorful but not too oily with lemon, whole chickpeas, and parsley. We have had most of the dishes here and have enjoyed every one. They have lassi with daily flavors that are refreshing. The service is friendly and helpful, the place is very clean and comfortable and they are open late into the night for those looking for a late night snack. They are very affordable with daily specials that keep you coming back. We look forward to every visit. read more

Just no! So disappointed with this meal (chicken shawarma sandwich). Ordered to go and took back to my hotel. Received no napkins, condiments, etc. The wraps were placed at the bottom of the bag and were soggy to the point that the paper holding the sandwich together was torn and the contents were spilling out. There was no flavor to the chicken,which was dry, and the tomatoes were soggy. As for the fries.... Lifeless no salt. There appeared to be some seasoning sprinkled on top (which I'm hoping was supposed to be salt/pepper), but again, fail. The fries were dry and tasteless.
