While visiting family in Calgary, we found ourselves craving Persian food. Coming from Los Angeles--where we're spoiled with an abundance of exceptional Persian restaurants--our expectations were admittedly high.
Persian Plate had been recommended to us several times (even ChatGPT pointed us here for its consistency and authentic flavors), so we decided to see if it lived up to the hype. It absolutely did.
We arrived for dinner and were seated immediately. The restaurant is impeccably clean, with a modern, thoughtfully designed interior that feels both stylish and inviting without trying too hard.
One of the unexpected highlights of the evening was meeting the owner, Sam. He was warm, humble, and genuinely welcoming. We had a wonderful conversation, and it's easy to see how much pride he takes in his restaurant and in creating a great experience for his guests. That kind of hospitality leaves a lasting impression.
The food arrived fresh, beautifully presented, and in very generous portions--we had more than enough to enjoy again the next day. More importantly, every dish delivered on flavor. The meats were tender and perfectly seasoned, the rice was fluffy and aromatic, and everything tasted balanced and authentic. It reminded us why Persian cuisine is one of our favorites.
Finding Persian food that satisfies someone accustomed to the Los Angeles food scene isn't always easy, but Persian Plate exceeded our expectations. If you're looking for authentic Persian cuisine, generous portions, and genuine hospitality in Calgary, this is a restaurant that deserves a visit.
