Was driving through Calgary and found this little gem tucked away in a little neighbor. This is a no frills shop, but don't let that scare you away - the food is incredible. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the staff, and asked if this was our first time. We had said yes, and they offered us samples of everything to try before ordering. I appreciated this because I went in thinking I was getting one thing, and after the sample changed my mind. I got the lamb - it was so flavorful and not greasy. the wrap was the perfect amount of food. Jimmy's s is an old standby been around for years when it started. Jimmy himself actually lived upstairs and went to SAIT. Many years later, there's still family on the front end and it shows. Would recommend! We stopped from out of town and when they asked if we had been there before, they kindly offered to give us samples of all the meat/falafel. Everything was so good! Tasty, flavorful, and filling. I had the chicken shawarma but could not have gone wrong with the other options. I personally think Jerusalem is still better. Especially in terms of donair meat and sauces. I think Jerusalem has way more flavour and their hummus and sauces are made better and have more flavour. However, their customer service is great and they do put A LOT of meat. I tried asking the guy behind the counter "how do I eat the grape leaf rolls" and he offered me a sample to try which I ended up ordering 3 and I really loved them. It had a slight tangy taste to it but it was good. This place is not terrible for donairs so it's worth giving it a try! I just personally think Jerusalem is still my favourite. read more

I went to Jimmy's today around 6:30 for dinner. I originally wanted a lamb platter with 200g extra protein, sweet sauce and garlic sauce on the side and a chicken samosa, but I might've come too late and they were out of what I wanted. I instead ordered a beef and chicken dinner platter with 200g extra protein on the side and sweet sauce on the side. What I received was a chicken only platter with the extra meat added all together and only garlic sauce and a beef samosa? Because that's all they had. As it wasn't bad it just wasn't what I wanted x2 and because of that I didn't want to finish it at that moment. I understand I came later so menu items aren't always available. And the service was fine, it was a bit of a inconvenience that they didn't take visa but the person helping me allowed me to go to a atm to get cash. As a whole I see Jimmy's as a great business with superb service and excellent food. This one experience just disappointed me. read more

Amazing place, in love with it after my first time going. The location is very close to my university and so easy. Great building as it's very neat and clean and I could tell right away this place meant something to them and they take care of it like a home. Awesome service there as it was so quick and made with love and they made sure it was exactly what the customer wanted and needed. Everyone was so nice there and was very welcoming and helpful. My first time here and I got the veggie falafel - really good and the small was a big portion for me! Friendly service and a wide selection of desserts, groceries, hookah, and snacks! Now I'm wishing I got some fries or an empanada! Only thing was that it took a while for my order to come out while my friends' meat shawarmas came out quick. We live walking distance to Jimmy's and it's one of our favourite local spots. Even during the "Covid" epidemic the customer service is amazing and the portions are huge. My favourite is adding the Kalamata olives and the drool worthy garlic sauce. This is a real hidden gem. Just dropped in the other day with a friend because we had not been there for awhile. We ordered lamb donairs, the portions are generous and taste delicious. Yes, it's a bit pricier but worth every dollar. Only order a large if you are exceptionally hungry. Although it's only takeout and delivery for now it's worth the visit. Normally, you could eat in and browse their extensive deli selection as well as their dessert treats which by the way are delicious. The gentlemen that help us, who I presume is the owner was super friendly and made you feel welcomed. When he learned this was our first time he had us sample a few items and everything was delicious and full of flavors. He explained everything was home made and the food flavors confirmed it. We all decided on the meat with garlic shawarma/wrap since the meat was tender and full of flavor. We also took a selection of stuffed olives, eggplant and hummus that was outrageous. Picture Homer Simpson when he sees something really delicious that he wants to eat. His eyes close a bit, his mouth waters profusely, and he makes that mouthwatering gargling sound. Do you have the image in your head? Well, that's probably me exactly when I think about eating at Jimmy's! It's so delicious that whenever I think about it, I have an instant craving! The amount of food you get for the price is unbelievable! The donairs and shawarmas are so big I struggle to finish one. Even when I'm stuffed to the brim, I can't bring myself to throw any away, so I always make myself sick by force feeding the remaining wrap into my mouth. I wouldn't for one second dream of wasting a Jimmy donair. I know that everyone who goes here will all be saying the same thing: it's so delicious and marvelous that nothing else will ever be satisfying again! The first time I went in here I had no clue what I was doing or what I wanted to eat. Lucky for me, Jimmy was behind the counter serving people and he pointed me in the right direction of something yummy. He was super friendly and extremely helpful. Don't tell Jimmy but I kind of have a little crush on him. Maybe that's why I keep going back. Nah, it's because of how fantastic the food is. Besides the donairs and shawarmas, they also have a bunch of little desserts you can buy. There is a whole display of baklava and other yummy looking treats. Along with the food, Jimmy's is also a great place to go if you want to buy some shisha or hookah pipes. They have a large assortment of different sizes and shapes, and all the flavours that you can imagine smoking. I seriously love Jimmy's so much. I miss the days when a friend used to live behind the store and we ate there almost everyday. Now I have to go a little out of my way to get there, but it's totally worth it every time. Okay woah. Jimmy's A & A is a true hidden gem located on the corner of 20th Avenue in the NW, sure it may look ghetto but its ghetto good!! Its a small place with a ton of food. Whenever I go, I always order a shawarma which is a Arab sandwich-like wrap. They make the BEST CHICKEN SHAWARMAS in all of Calgary. They're truly amazing. Sometimes they can be out of the chicken or beef so you would have to wait a couple minutes, but its definitley worth the wait! Fresh chicken or beef? Yes please!! Just like everyone else said, the SMALL is huge! (~$9) They stuff the wrap with the meat and have this amazing garlic sauce, lettuce, pickles, onions and tomatoes (if you want all of the toppings) and you can get it spicy or not. The spice is just some hot chili sauce they squeeze on. But the wrap itself has SO MUCH FLAVOR! Not only can you taste it, but you can actually see the spices on the meat. Its mouth watering. There is a very strong garlic taste but I love garlic! So I dont mind.. They do have a big selection of food, from salads to shawarmas to samosas to baklava! I ordered 3 random pieces of baklava for after and they were nice and flaky. They seem really oily (which they are) but they're delicious! Ps. If you order a shawarma, be sure NOT to take the shawarma completely out because it can get very messy...the paper bag and wax is like a support system for the wrap. We ordered donairs and a donair platter and let me tell you that is not called a donair platter. it came with nothing and when asked for veggies the guy said it's $2 a veggie.. who the hell charges for veggies on a platter. We lived in the house next door to this place for nearly the first two years of my life and my dad swears it's the some of the best donair in Calgary. When we visited this past summer and I got to try it, developed memories intact, I can finally agree with him.
