I've been on a bit of a shawarma kick lately and have been trying to find some "go to" spots in the city of Calgary. I definitely dig this place. It's open very late and the mixed chicken and lamb platter I had here was quite tasty. It's on the pricier side when it comes to shawarma but the quality seems to be there and the portions are very generous. I for sure found a new spot that I will be ordering from when I'm craving Shawarma. With all the great reviews I'm surprised it took me this long to actually try it out.

Nice and clean!

Deliciously spiced Kafta, mounds of other Mediterranean and they're open until...4am?! What struck me about Shawarma and Falafel City is they're clean, friendly and tasty enough that they you definitely don't need to limit them to late-night, post-pub, drunk-munchy binge eating. Lunch, dinner, snack, it's all cool! In case the name wasn't a big enough giveaway, you also might be surprised to learn that they do in fact sell shawarma and falafel. I haven't had either of those yet, but I'm excited to go back and try them out! I stopped in for an early lunch and bypassed the usual shawarma suspects for one of their Kafta beef burgers. If you're not too sure what kafta is... well heck I'm not going into it but they have a great description posted on the wall. Read up, it's fun! 7 minutes later when your burger arrives (it takes a wee bit of time since they cook it fresh) you'll be a well versed connoisseur in the world of kafta and you'll be ready to take you first perfectly spiced ("10 spices to be exact" as informed by their wall) bite. They have 3 sizes of shawarma ending in "humongous" or "gigantic", or something like that. I can't remember the adjective they use, but given the large amount of food I received for $8, I can't help but wonder what kind of monster wrap $15 would could buy me. Morbid curiosity will get the best of me soon enough and I'll be updating this review while fighting a shawarma coma, yelling "what have I done?!" ...while loving every second of that. Until that time, I'm more than happy to recommend the Kafta burger, but I feel like my future visits will be for the wraps and plates.

Oh. My. Gosh!! I am in love!! I had the mixed meat shawarma. The meat was seasoned to perfection. Make sure you get all this sauces. Ask for everything on it!! My mom had the Chicken Twook and that was so good too! This was my first time having Egyptian food and I'm sold. This is my second time in Canada and my buddy who's from here wanted to show me this place. It's looks like I've found my Canadian food spotPlease go here! You won't regret it!

Make sure to get the garlic sauce in the wrap and then a side of tzatziki sauce to go with the fries.

Have had lots of Shawarma in my day and some of the middle eastern foods our family likes best. We…read morestopped in for a hearty lunch and found the food absolutely average at best. I had a falafel platter which was dry, old and flavourless. The platter was mostly old rice and old potatoes. Hubby and daughter had beef donairs and described the meat as dry. My older daughter ordered butter chicken and it was dry dry dry and she found hair in it! The place has not been cleaned in a very long time and I think thats a direct reflection of how many F$&@S are given in the establishment. Won't be returning.

Came home exhausted, tired and hungry for some warm delicious comfort food. After a quick search for restaurants near home, we decided to order from the KING of Shawarma. Reviews seemed decent. 5 stars on FB and 4 stars on YELP. Figured, why not I'm new to Calgary and need to find some good shawarma and Mediterranean food. I order through Skip the Dishes. Food came fast. Took about 45 minutes. I specially requested for all sauces and dips to be on the side, since I've worked in the restaurant industry before I understand that food doesn't always travel well and in order to avoid soggy messy food made my request and even apologize for the inconvenience in advance. Food comes. I look at it and instantly become irritated. Everything is mixed together. And all the exact same shade of grey and brown. The skin was falling off the potatoes (and not in a good tasty way) the chicken was dry and flavourless. I can honestly say that neither mine or my roommates food was touched. Literally made me sick to my stomach looking at it. Whatever, ok things happen. I get it. I called the restaurant to complain about my order and to request either a refund or a new meal. I asked to speak to a manger, the person on the other line said he was and that he remembered packing my food. I told him it wasn't what I ordered, and that I wasn't happy. He was rude, arrogant and refused to take responsibility for the situation. He tried to blame skip the dishes for his poor work ethic. After about 3 minutes of talking to his fine outstanding young man it comes to my attention that he is in fact NOT a manger and that none are there to talk to me or deal with the situation. After all that talking, this person can't do a thing to help me. I tell him to talk to his manager and to call ME back. He agrees. Fast forward 30 minutes still no call. Nothing. So I call back. First call phone rings about 15 times then disconnects. Second call straight to voicemail. Third call he answers. Tells me the manger isn't there. I tell him I'll be by tomorrow to return this food. He shrugs off my concerns and lets me go. Well today, as much as I wanted to bring the food back and collect a refund, life got in the way and I needed to work. Still have yet to hear from a manager. I didn't even receive an apology or nothing. Wound up making freezer pizza for dinner, after only wanting shawarma from the king.
