    Rice with fave beans

The worst was sour cherry rice that was definitely not what is shown in the poplular photos of it. It had almost no sour cherry (maybe 2 or 3) and was extremely oily. The koobideh and shank was ok. The plate size was weirdly small. The service was great though. We had saffron ice cream for dessert which was again just ok, didn't worth not the price nor the calories spent. We also had Mirza ghasemi for appetizers which was basically oily fried eggplants, not mirza ghasemi!!

So what makes this a one and done? Let me tell you... Server is abrupt. No introduction just are we ready? Tabbouleh was salty. Overpowered the flavors. Good enough to eat but barely. Mirza/Eggplant dip nothing to write home about. It was served hot and tasted like mashed eggplant. Pita was fresh and warm. Lamb kebab has no stick. No chunks of nice juicy tender lamb. It was thinly sliced thumb length pieces of lamb at a whopping price of $30. Was it good. Yes. Was it worth $30? No. Dark meat chicken. Described as marinated in onions, tomatoes and lemon juice. So naturally I expected it to be served with onions and tomatoes. The chicken although tender was the size of an infants fist. Got about five of these baby fists. Both dishes were served with rice. Server said I had a choice. So we chose rice w dill and favas. But beware for some reason there was a $4 charge for this. And the rice takes up one whole side of the plate. I get so frustrated when restaurants do this. It's like they're compensating for the dish. Again server wasn't friendly. Didn't ask at any point how are food was. Did ask if we wanted dessert. No Brought us a little tasting from the kitchen that tasted like cotton candy. This was a nice surprise. Ordered 2 drinks. A pomegranate and fig mojito. Both were watered down. I can deal with the lack of alcohol flavor but they imparted no flavor of their moniker. Pomegranate looked the part but did not taste it. The fig had one half of a dried up fig at the bottom. It tasted like a fig newton lol. But there is no way to expect it to add flavor. The ratios for these drinks were totally off. Maybe I shouldn't write this while I'm upset. I mean at least 20 minutes went by when the waiter dropped off the "dessert" with no check and never returned. So yeah, I'm mad. If I had a better server who was friendly like his counterparts I could've enjoyed the meal more. But sadly it's not the case.

Great place to come for dinner- me and my husband actually came here on Valentine's Day and the place was decorated with balloons and had a cozy intimate vibe. They did not have a prefix Valentine's Day menu- which we were happy about! The waiter brought a basket of fresh rolls that was to die for. The saffron rice with chicken was delicious and I would highly recommend when coming here! Will definitely be back.

Staff were very polite and helpful, the food was cold and not the best tasting. I would score my meal very average. Consider placing salt and paper on each table so we don't have to waste time and ask for it. Salt and pepper is a must on Persian tables. The ambiance looks cozy and very New York. I'm sure it could be entertaining on weekend nights. I recommend you improve your kababs, best wishes. Again super polite and friendly staff. Thank you

Amazing Persian spot in the UES. My family often makes the trek in from Queens to eat at this spot since it's so great. My favourite are all the lamb dishes! I'd recommend getting a few and sharing if you're coming in a group. Lamb shank is so soft and moist and each bite is extremely tender and flavorful. My personal fave is the lamb kebab where you can easily pull off bite-sized pieces of lamb to eat with their wonderfully sweet rice. I also love the hummus here - it's so creamy and reminds me a bit of peanut butter.

Persepolis is a great whole in the wall on the upper east side. The Persian food was great and the service was very fast. We ordered the grilled salmon kebab and the lemon chicken. You get to choose one of five rices to pair with your meal. The salmon kebab went great with the saffron and sour cherry basmati rice. The lemon chicken was great as well. The shepherd salad was also a great appetizer with grape leaves and feta cheese.

It was a little hard to hear and converse at times as it gets crowded, but the food was delicious and there are really unique items on the menu. Food: The duck shawarma was one of our favorites! The lamb and scallops were also flavorful and tender. The dips were delicious with the pita, but I wish the serving size for the dips were bigger. The fries were great - well seasoned! Also recommend the milky pudding, it was a nice refreshing way to end the dinner. Service: Our server was super helpful in letting us know what items are more shareable and his suggestions for cocktails. Definitely try some of the arak based cocktails. Vibe: Gorgeous interior, the mirrors and lighting really elevates the space and makes it a lovely spot for group dinners or dates.

We were lead upstairs to a table. There were 7 of us The seating was cozy but not cramped. We started with 7 family style small dishes: Hummus with Falafel Pops (chickpea purée, tahini, falafel, olive oil), Spring Burrata (roasted cherry tomatoes, toast, basil oil), Hamachi Crudo (passionfruit vinaigrette, citrus zest, cucumber, mint, sesame tuile), Scallops (carrot puree, serrano pepper, brown butter sauce), Tenderloin Skewer (zaatar chimichurri, fresh herb salad), and Shiitake Stuffed Grape Leaves (tomato coulis, yogurt foam, herbs). Everything was delicious. The hummus was well seasoned the falafel had a nice crunch. It went well with the warm puffy gyro bread that came to the table. The burrata was wasm and creamy. I love the vinaigrette on the fish. I ended up eating most of it. The scallops were the sweetest, most tender ones I have ever had. The tenderloin skewers were tender and well seasoned. I liked the grape leaves but the rice consistency was very soft almost mushy and you can barely tell there were mushrooms. There was barely any mushrooms flavor. Next we all chose an entree. I got the duck breast, my husband and daughter each had the beef tenderloin. The duck breast was smaller than i expected. The skin was nicely seared and very crispy but boy did it give my jaw a workout. It was done medium rare. It was juicy but tough. The small beef tenderloin was tender and smoky. The waiter poured the sauce over the tenderloin for added flavor. Finally dessert was a fruit plate with ice cream and pudding. The fruit was fresh and the flavors of the ice cream and pudding unique. It was a nice end to a good brunch. The price was a little expensive at $85 a person.

It was chilly out, so the soup was very appreciated. Not a hearty soup, but they are not shy about giving you plenty of breads for dipping. The chicken was "fluffy". Yup! That's the word that comes to mind, like these light flavorful clouds could float off the table. What they provide is substantial. I took some home with me. And yes, it is delicious when microwaved. The fairly large restaurant is situated on the corner. It's chilly today, but the place seems like prime hot weather real estate. There was club music in low tones. All the food had a lemony citrus taste to it as well as olive oil taste to it, which I liked from the bread to the platter. From the vegan platter, I really liked the eggplant and Cauliflower. The grape vine was very sour. The portion sizes are really big here, and it feels you up! However, customer service could use some improvement. The service was slow and it took a while for the server to give us the menu, the servers also weren't very attentive or fast. They didn't continuously refill our water, like other restaurants I've been to. I saw people waiting for a while for the food. I also wanted to try the mint lemonade, and one of the severs said that they were out of it, but 10 minutes later, they served mint lemonade to the table next to us. The food was really tasty, but service could use some improvement. Price:$25 Rating: 8/10
