This is the best pizza in the area. They use fresh mushrooms (not canned!) and the other ingredients are always very tasty. The pizza is always cooked perfectly and the sauce is nice and zippy. Driving by Perry's always makes me drool a bit! They take cash or personal check - no credit cards - so I usually write a check. read more

1 star just seemed too mean, 3 is way too much. ok... so I get it, this place has it's ups and downs. I can read it in every review so, ya, I truly get it. And yes, I understand the 'trouble' it is to cook a bunch of pizzas when the 'dinner rush' comes in. I can only imagine the complexity of multiple pizzas with varying combinations of toppings that could fly in front of you being a local tomato pie shop manager. But Perry's Pizza, come on...COME ON! To be fair, when I say 'dinner rush' I mean the expected moment in the night that you get a ton of tickets for the orders that invariably increase during the hours of DINNER time. So you could say the 'dinner rush' is in no way a surprise; really more an event that you, the line cook, wait for every night. That means when I order a "well done large pepperoni pizza" and you tell me it will be at my door in 30 minutes, I expect all of those things to happen. Especially since we are talking about dough, sauce, cheese, pepperoni and enough money to keep the overhead paid in order to make this pizza happen. I mean, I kept my end of the bargain. I called when you were open, I used cash like you insisted, and I placed my order in a calm tone with a clear voice. All an effort for nothing. So when it gets to my door in 50 minutes, from 1.5 miles away, cold as the rain that's falling down, with plasticine cheese and rubbery pepperonis, not only has my pizza come 20 minutes later than promised but my night's dinner is pretty much over. Appetite lost, left to wonder, "which is more hard? The ability to make and deliver pizzas as you promise to your customers or the rubbery crust of cheese that covers the white, half-cooked dough that you just delivered me?". Thanks, when I call to get some sort of explanation from your manager, for putting Perry himself on. It seems strange to me that his thinking as a manager, and I presume owner/operator, is to blame what he calls a 'dinner rush' as to why my order was late but doesn't address why it wasn't even cooked correctly. Doesn't wanna talk about why it seems that the last four times I've ordered it's been hit or miss. Regrettably, you got me hooked the first time I ordered here and I've been chasing that dragon ever since. The one and only time I got a pizza I could see eating again from this place was sometime earlier this year. But since then they've failed three times and Mr. Perry's candid account of the 'dinner rush', immediately proclaiming, "well I just got here", put the cherry on top. I've worked at pizza places, I've worked at 5 diamond places, I know what it is to have a dinner rush, and as I've said earlier, I get it. But COME ON, Perry's, COME ON. read more

This place is amazing. Been eating Perry's pizza since I was 5 years old and it's the best. This place is a hidden gem. Everyone is super friendly and they always let me know about coupons when I order. The cheese sticks are out of this world and the pizza is always delicious. Deep dish or round you can't go wrong. The crust is perfection and it's better than 90% of the places in Metro-Detroit. There's a reason they've been around for almost 40 years because they make an amazing pie. Yep; this is a biased review, because Perry's Pizza is the best - our favorite pizza, and we have tried many. If you are used to pathetic mega-corporate factory pizza, Perry's will remind you, or introduce you to, what a real pizza tastes like. The crust, toppings, and sauce are fresh and delicious; especially the slightly sweet sauce. The staff is always friendly, prices are fair, and our order is always on-time. It's too bad places like Perry's are a vanishing breed, as they become rolled over by the corporatocracy. We are grateful to have Perry's as a neighbor. This will probably be met with some derision because the shop is so pedestrian and Clawson is Clawson, but I really think Perry's is the second best pizza in southeast Michigan. Green Lantern is probably better, but the wrinkled up pepperoni and heavy cheese there can really upset your stomach. Perry's is for those who like sweet sauce. One of my friends says they use the old Dino's recipe. Their deals are pretty easy on the wallet. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE SQUARE. It's a lot like Niki's in Greektown. A good, relatively thin sweet sauce square pie. People rip Perry's if it is undercooked, but it is still good in that case. Shield's and Buddy's are inedible when they don't cook it well enough. read more

I usually get a square pizza from Perry's about every other week, and I have had nothing but good experiences there. I pick up my orders, and the times they tell me are generally close to when my pizza is done. Glad they now accept credit cards, as it is way more convenient. read more

I gave it 2 stars out 5 as a courtesy because I have lived in Clawson for the last thirty years. Over the last three decades of living in Clawson and eating Perry's Pizza I have noticed one consistency and that is the decline in the quality of their pizza and a decline in customer appreciation, Well that makes two consistencies doesn't it. The last time I walked in to pick up a pizza Perry himself was in the kitchen and kept his back turned to me the entire time which was about 5 minutes but one would think a Clawson business owner would care and appreciate customers more than that. Clawson is a city built on loyalty, families and friendships that are unbreakable unless one proves them selves unworthy of the loyalty. I had to pick every piece of Italian sausage off the pizza as it made me want to yack as I tried to eat it, key word tried. Not one to waste money spent I ate the pizza regardless of the sub-par toppings. The only good thing I can say is that Perry's uses fresh vegetables for toppings, their choice of meat leaves much to be desired...that's funny right there. After eating the pizza I was left with buyers remorse feeling that well I don't think of Little Caesar's as top quality pizza, I believe my money would have been better spent on their extra most best and I could have afforded two of those pizzas from Little Caesar's for as much as the one cost from Perry's. Don't even get me started on a comparison with Jet's Pizza about a mile down the road, Perry's Pizza couldn't hold a flame thrower to Jet's some of the best pizza in town is from the Clawson Jet's on 14 mile. I ordered the pizza from Perry's to see if the quality had improved at all after a few years of not eating Perry's for the very reason they had let their quality slide. Sadly I was disappointed by the lack of quality and the lack of personability from Perry himself as a Clawson business owner, I expect more pride of ownership and respect for Clawsonites and customers in general. I remember when Perry's son was cooking pizzas a few years ago and recall the pizzas his son made being the best quality pizzas I have had from Perry's pizza. It seems as if Perry's Pizza has become only an interest of income to Perry himself. Which ironically would bring more revenue for him if he invested more of his time in Perry's Pizza making good quality pizzas and treating customers with gratitude as nothing in this world is granted. Won't be back for another few years until feel like seeing if the quality has improved or not, honestly instead of waiting two years to order pizza from Perry's agian I should wait five years. PERRY'S PIZZA, on Main Street in Clawson! AWESOME! Perry personally opened his store early and brought pizza and Perry Sticks to my daughter's afternoon graduation party. He ran a tab for me so that when more people arrived all I did was call and 20 minutes later fresh pizza arrived. The guests said great things about the pizza. Easiest and best choice for a hot day. Ordered bread-sticks and a deep dish pizza with one topping and was told to pick it up in 15 minutes. Arrived after 15 minutes and waited for (the wrong) pizza that was not ready. Brought home a pizza that was not deep dish and soggy bread-sticks. I will continue to stick with Green Lantern and Hippie's. read more
