We rarely eat at Perkins anymore now that my elderly parents are gone. The 55 and over menu was their favorite. Had dinner on a dead Easter Sunday (the place we wanted to go to was closed - duh!) and Colleen, our server, was great. I had a $10 BLT with Onion Rings instead of fries ($1/59 extra) and my man had potato pancakes which were, um, nontraditional. I liked them - he did not. Where do I start...walked in and there wasnt anyone there to greet us...finally a waitress came out and said she can help us but was told no by the Manager that she would help us...ok 5 min later was sat..while seated we watched other people in other sections seated after us getting drinks and even bring served their food...my husband asked the water who looked like he had it together if we had a server and he kindly said he would get her...another 10 min goes buy and she finally arrived and we ordered our drinks and food....20 min later about to leave drinks arrived and didnt bring the right drinks....watched table neae us leave because they were waiting even longer for their drinks and they were before us with same waitress...it wasn't busy....she had 2 tables ...the other table had enough and walked out....finally food arrived and again brought wrong order so we ate while my husband was without food..asked for rest of food to go and was told they sold out of his dessert even though he ordered it an hour eatlier when she said the definitely had it....the entire experience was a bust so when leaving we asked to speak to the Manager and was told she cant come talk to us because she is to busy cooking in the kitchen her words for the remaining two tables left in the dining room. This was my first time eating Perkins, so maybe it was an off day. I placed a pickup order online, and it was ready quickly- I should have waited to order because it was getting cold by the time I got home, but that was my fault. I was impressed and grateful I didn't have to wait. It was a huge portion of food and condiments were packed with care. However, the food itself was disappointing. The eggs and bacon were oily, and the bacon was fatty. The pancakes were doughy and soggy. Even the butter and syrup only did so much. I hate wasting food, but I threw most of it away. read more

Love the classic Eggs Benedict and The Chicken Biscuits breakfast platters. They're always good. Would have heaven 5 stars but made the mistake of ordering the Strawberry Crispers. We came to eat a late breakfast during Strawberry Season. The Strawberry Crispers appetizer caught our eye. They looked so yummy. The plated presentation was lovely. The Crispers were definitely crisp and served just at the right warmth. The cream cheese blend had the perfect texture and sweetness. But come on! Where is the strawberry jam? The photo in the menu shows at least 25% strawberry jam. There was just a tinge of a smear of jam inside the crisps served to us. I attached a photo showing Perkins' photo on the top & our actual crisps on the bottom. The Strawberry Crispers were a huge disappointment. Luckily our meals were good. read more

This Perkins reminds me of the Denny's restaurant I used to go to with friends at 1 a.m. when I was in my 20s. The food is OK for what it is. For pie and coffee or maybe Sunday pancakes with the kids, it's the right fit. For anything else I think you're bound for disappointment. While I was there recently I noticed the majority of the patrons seemed to be 70-plus. The staff seems friendly enough, and although the waitress got two or three minor things wrong with our order, she was fielding about five or six tables. Let's face it, being a food server is hard, thankless work and I don't fault her for a mix up here or there. My rating is for the food quality and ambiance. The place looks, feels and smells badly dated. While the prices seem reasonable, the food quality is merely OK. Honestly, you'd likely do better at a McDonald's. read more

I suppose Perkins as a chain epitomizes three star middle of the road "safe" dining, that while never being inedible also has flavor quality & originality that is one step over senior living cafeteria food. If you're not doing anytime breakfast then you need to be in the mood for some type of heavy meatloaf type item, greasy frozen burger, pasta or something buttered/fried hard. All food was average. Nothing quite done right yet nothing done too far off of center to warrant complaining at the time. Grilled cheese that was too burnt, a cheeseburger that bordered on needing to bring out Clara Peller's infamous "Where's the Beef!" line, and a Country Club Melt with soft/white half cooked bacon and greasy sourdough bread rounded out the experience. The service was the one bright spot as "A" was as sweet as a piece of.....well Perkins Banana Cream Pie. She was looking after a lot of tables yet the drinks kept flowing and the food was brought out within an acceptable amount of time. I don't get to Doylestown that often and when I do it's 100% driving thru to somewhere else but if I'm with the children I would probably stop here again as it's quick, safe and easy even if it's also greasy, buttery and quasi-flavorless at the same time. read more

It's very noticeable how nicely kept this restaurant is! As soon as we entered, there was a very polite, happy lady ready and willing to seat us and offer menus...she even asked for our drink orders while we were in the process of sitting down. Wow, this is good service right from the get-go. We did have a little wait until our order was taken, but we weren't in a rush ~ and once our waitress did come over, she knew her stuff. You feel confident your customized breakfast/lunch order is being paid attention to. The bacon was extra crispy, the pancakes were fluffy and light and tasting even better with warm syrup (thank you!) and the scrambled eggs were perfect. And those breakfast potatoes ~ excellent. Late breakfast at Perkins hit the spot. Ordered a country gravy and biscuit with eggs and hash browns. Small complaints. Biscuit should have been open rather than closed with the gravy on it so you could get gravy on both sides of the biscuit. Hash browns were underdone. Over easy eggs were fine. OJ was overpriced and clearly from concentrate. Coffee was industrial coffee, and the only creamer available were the little things on the table. Service was slow to get to me after I was seated but once my order was taken, it was attentive. I will return but will be careful what I order. read more

This Perkins is clean, and looks just like any other Perkins. They've got a big lot since they're smack dab in a shopping center. Haven't tried the bakery here, nor am I aware if they have one, though I would be surprised if they didn't. I've been here once for breakfast, and once for lunch, both times fairly randomly. This Perkins restaurant seems larger compared to the one I usually visit. On a Sunday evening though, they didn't have much of a crowd and seating wasn't a problem at all. The food is about as average as it can get. This is a restaurant chain that takes no risks at all. If you want something spicy or exotic, look elsewhere. On the other hand, if you want something that pretty much no one will take exception to, then Perkins is your place. I would note though that portion sizes seem to have gotten a bit smaller over the years and the platters have more filler (rice, fries) than meat. However, I do commend them for allowing us to substitute more fish for the shrimp in the Double Catch platter at no extra cost because one of our party's members couldn't eat shrimp. Service was very attentive throughout the meal even though our server had other cleanup tasks around the dining area. It may have helped that Sunday night was a slack period for the restaurant. One problem I saw was they left coils of vacuum hose lying in one of the aisles of the dining area, forcing me to go around that every time. It's sloppy and they should have put that away. read more

The good news is you can get a decent meal for the money here. The bad news is it's not Applebee's, Ihop, Friday's or any place like that. With the Subway in this shopping center falling victim to the franchise's downsizing, needless to say it's an opportunity for Perkins. This was my first visit here and I had the chicken strips with fries and corn. I do like the vast selection of soft drinks they offer, so I had a Pibb zero. Nothing to write home about, but again, fair for the price paid. I did not have dessert or any bakery item this time, but I'll consider that in a future visit. While they do offer the usual American staples, except for the soft drinks the selection leaves a lot to be desired. If you want pancakes, you have two options--buttermilk or blueberry, and that's just one example. It's not Pennsylvania Dutch by any stretch, but it's an eatery that wants to keep things plain and simple for folks who want to do the same. 202 Parkway Trail users: You can access Perkins from there, but you'll have to go 3.7 miles (on hilly terrain with some traffic) and use the Lower State Road spur trail and work your way through the borough. I recently had lunch at Perkins and ordered the Southwest Chicken avocado salad. Much to my surprise there was about one teaspoon of chicken in the salad. I was very disappointed because I had this before at another Perkins and it had a good amount of chicken. My wallet did not like paying $10.00 for a salad without chicken. As much as I have loved Perkins in the past, this Perkins leaves something to be desired. Every time I've been at this Perkins, there is an undesirable smell eminating through the restaurant. You get a warm, welcome upon arrival , especially if Jessica is on duty, and are seated in a clean and comfortable dining area.Then the serving staff takes over and they are excellent we espcially enjoy having Heather or Shannon wait on us. Bboth women are personable, hard-working and efficient,accurate and attentive and teat us like friends, not just customers. The food is prepared well and is always plentiful and tasty. Save room for dessert from their excellent bakery. They also have a senior menu with a good selection of breakfast and lunch/dinner items at reduced prices.
