Anthropology, Cracker Barrel and Restoration Hardware had a baby. This place is half restaurant and half garden store. The food is farm to table style. Everything was fresh. The salmon bowl with quinoa was very good and healthy but probably not that healthy after I washed it down with a beer and really good carrot cake. Will be back hen in the area.
Great ambience and service. We went for a late night visit for a coffee. Ended up getting summer refresher drinks. We got English garden ( gin) and cucumber refresher. Had lobster rolls and fries to go. The vibe is cool, relaxing wirh a lot of green!
I've been to Terrain a few times over the past several months. It took a few visits to figure out whether I liked the restaurant or not. This wasn't because of poor service or bad food, because those are both pretty good. This was really just due to the atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, it's a newer building and well-maintained (and clean). But gives me "Tea Room" vibes from the colors to the plants. With that said, I won't let this affect my review. Our last visit was on Saturday night. It was a strange night because on Sunday, we were set to be hit with snowstorm Fern. You could tell that people were bracing for what would come. To me, it was very reminiscent of just before the lockdowns for COVID-19 in 2020. Anyways, moving on from my memories of that! We sat at the bar, which is always my favorite seat in any restaurant, but we don't do much as normally we have our six-year old son with us. Not tonight! There were two (or maybe three) bartenders. It's a large bar, probably about 20 seats, and at 4:30 pm, they were all open but 2. We started with a few cocktails, an Espresso Martini for my wife and the Torched Orange Negroni for me. The drinks were good...the Negroni was too good and went down too quickly; time to switch to beer I guess. For appetizers, we ordered the Fried Cauliflower: crispy cauliflower tossed in pastrami spice, served with tangy mustard aioli; and the Artisanal Cheese Board: a curated selection of local cheeses, tangy pickles, fresh fruit, sweet preserves, crunchy crostini, and golden honey (and yes, we added the prosciutto for $4 more). The cauliflower was pretty good; it wasn't breaded, which I was happy about, and both the spice and aioli added good flavor and contrast. It wasn't that hot, but I didn't think anything of that (more on this later). The cheeseboard was larger than I expected. Several mixed berries, five different (large pieces) of cheese, the priscuotto, and some crackers. All good. The crackers were probably the highlight and the most disappointing item. They were very good, heavily flavored with rosemary and the perfect crunch and salt. But, they overpowered the delicate cheeses. My wife likes a cracker with some cheese, but in this case, we just ate them separately (still very good). For entrees, my wife ordered the Shrimp and Blue Crab Bucatini: green garlic butter, fresh scallions, and spicy Calabrian chili oil; and I ordered the Terrain Burger: 8 oz. grass-fed beef, Cabot Creamery white cheddar, sweet balsamic onion jam, brioche bun, simply dressed greens, with an egg (cooked to order over easy) and bacon. And since we were facing the snowpocalypse, I ordered the Truffle and Pecorino Fries for an upcharge instead of the normal salad that comes with it (more tea room vibes here?). My wife's plate looked very good, and I'm always happy to see when a pasta dish with seafood isn't ruined with a heavy red sauce. Instead, a light butter sauce complements the light flavors of the seafood. My wife took a bite and said, "Whoa, that's spicy," but the subsequent bites showed that perhaps she had the only Calabrian chili in the first bite, and it was not mixed through. She did mention to me that her food was just lukewarm (cauliflower flashback?). I briefly wrote this off because sometimes she likes her food far too hot (temperature)...but maybe she was right. I was first surprised when mine arrived. I was expecting fries doused with fake truffle oil and some grated pecorino on top. Instead, I saw fries that had a truffle cheese grated on them, not quite melted yet. It honestly tasted good and was a good change. But it wouldn't melt; my wife was correct with the food being lukewarm. My fries were cool, so the cheese never melted, and the burger seemed cool too. Now, that aside, the burger was cooked to a perfect medium and was seasoned well. It was good! All in all, it is a good restaurant. It's a little on the high end price-wise for what you get, but it is a good change. I will return and think about my Tea Room fears as I hopefully enjoy another meal at the bar.
Terrain Café is such a charming and unique spot--part café, part garden boutique, and fully magical, especially with the holiday decorations. The ambiance feels like stepping into a cozy winter greenhouse with warm string lights, greenery, and rustic wooden decor. It's visually stunning and perfect for a relaxing brunch or a special occasion. I ordered coffee and a mixed dessert board, and everything was beautifully plated and well balanced--not overly sweet, with nice variety. The latte had smooth foam with a delicate finish, and the macarons, cookies, and mini pastries were fresh and delicious. Service was friendly and attentive without feeling rushed. The attached retail space is also worth browsing--lots of seasonal décor, lights, wreaths, and unique home items that feel thoughtfully curated. Overall, Terrain Café offers a memorable dining experience with great food and a magical greenhouse aesthetic. Definitely recommend for brunch, coffee dates, or anyone who loves beautifully designed spaces.
Went here for brunch with my family. We made a reservation the day before and were able to get a spot. The building is really cool and the shop out back is worth the trip alone. Our server was very attentive and came over immediately and took our drink orders and explained a bit about the restaurant/menu. I got the salted caramel latte and a beer. The latte was delicious! The bread and butter that were brought to the table to start were very fresh and really good! For food, I ordered the eggs and short rib and the French fries with truffle cheddar. The server also brought the caper aioli as well to dip in and that was wonderful with the fries. My meal was very good. The egg was poached perfectly and the short rib was so tender it was falling apart. The potatoes were also deliciously seasoned. The fries were crispy and were devoured by the entire table. For dessert, we all split the boudino and chocolate terrarium. Both were really good and a nice end to our meal. Overall great experience in a beautiful building.
The cafe has a very cute seasonal vibe. I would rate the food a 6 out of 10. I feel like I need to try other items on the menu to get a better idea. The flower pot bread was delicious, especially with the hibiscus or dragon fruit butter. However, the pot pie needed more chicken and flavor. Our server, Paris, was sweet and helpful throughout our visit.
Such a cute spot!!! The service was amazing, our server was so kind and attentive. The food was okay. We got the salmon toast, harvest bowl, and omelette. It was good for the one time experience since it was a little pricey, but overall it was decent! Not sure if I would come back, but I loved the interior and vibe.
Olivia is an absolutely delightful soul! So wonderfully attentive to our table, and her recommendations were spot on splendid! I really enjoyed my mushroom soup !! And the omelette with the side salad was so delicious !!!! The atmosphere was so upbeat and it's just so delightful to be around all the beautiful colorful springtime, flowers, and plants in this wonderful terrain !! I look forward to coming back soon !!
The host and waiters are very nice. Food is absolutely amazing. They have a store you can look around and shop in in the restaurants. All their vegetables are grown by the university next door. I got the rolled lasagna. All though it was delicious they could have added more sauce to it. It was bare in the middle. And my salmon was undercooked.
Came for a bridal shower. Stunning venue. The lobster roll were delish, though a little skimpy. The burgers were good, as was the quiche. Good, not great. Service was great though!
When I say 10 out of 10, it is a 10 out of 10 Terrain Cafe was absolutely the best. I went on a Friday with reservations for 10 AM with a good friend of mine. The place is beautiful with greenery everywhere. Might I had it was selfie and social media pic worthy. Our waiter was Gianna and she was the sweetest and gave us many recommendations when we asked and was very helpful. We decided to start off and order the hummus plate and it has to be the best hummus that I have had thus far. We decided on drinks, I ordered the pomegranate mule and my friend ordered the grapefruit martini which she wasn't a fan of, but I tried it and I was very good and I decided to keep it and then she ordered the seasonal drink, which was the fig margarita and that was delicious as well. We decided on our Entree's and I chose the short rib with poach egg and potatoes. I will say it was good but if the potatoes were sweet potatoes instead it think it would have been perfect. My friend ordered the fried avacado with egg over cauliflower. We were so pleased with everything that we are already planning our next visit back. read more

I have dined here several times and enjoyed the food and service each time. On Monday I took a friend there for lunch. My food was great but my friend ordered a crabmeat salad flatbread. Our waitress told her it was on a crispy cracker like crust. When our orders came her flatbread looked like chopped lettuce on top. There was no crab that we could see. The waitress took it back and they sent out a little cup of crab. Than she tried to eat it. The regular knife couldn't cut the crust. It was hard as a rock. She requested a sharper knife which also wouldn't cut through it. She ended up trying to tear it by hand. However the cheese was stuck to the crust. It was overall a bad dish. I felt terrible that I took a friend there. read more

Cold brew with whole milk was practically water. Couldn't taste the coffee at all. So bad we just threw it out. What a shame, beautiful place but not worth it. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE. The aesthetics and the vibes are always so beautiful, and they have the loveliest staff! I got their burger and matcha latte which always hits the spot, BUT this chocolate terrarium was a great surprise! The chocolatey goodness from the mousse and ganache were so smooth and delicious! The matcha crunch was a great added texture! The chocolate rock and microgreens were so cute and made the entire experience so memorable! Will be back for more! read more

Better than expected! I had always thought this place was just a sandwich & salad place for some reason. They have way more than that. There were 3 of us for lunch on a Thursday and we were glad that we had made reservations - it was just about full at 1 pm. The 2 cocktails, a Winter Citrus Margarita and Pomegranate Mule were very good as was the bottled Stella Artois. The delicious warm Bread in a clay flower pot with Vanilla and Hibiscus flower butter was a nice start. The Beet & Burrata as well as the Cesar Salads were both very generous portions and were delicious. The Chicken Pot Pie was an upscale version of that dish with very tasty mushroom slices throughout. All the staff were friendly and the setting very nice. We will definitely return. read more

The start off the atmosphere is beautiful. Natural and rustic. The service was good too. Attentive waitresses and the food comes out at a good pace. Flower pot bread; very cute and soft fresh bread. Their butter complimented the bread well. Citrus Tea: 5/5 very refreshing! A good way to start your meal. Terrain Breakfast: 5/5 a simple healthy breakfast. Everything cooked to perfection. Short rib and egg: 0/5 this sadly was the biggest disappointment. It was way too salty making it near inedible. Budino: 5/5 delicious dessert. Well balanced and not overly sweet while still tantalizing. Overall: 3/5 but would've been perfect if not for that short rib. read more
We had a lovely dinner at Terrain! The interior is absolutely gorgeous with all the greenery and plants! Service was wonderful as well - our wait staff were all attentive and friendly. The food was excellent - I would come back for the mushroom soup and truffle fries alone! Flower pot bread was so adorable! The burger was great, as was the braised lamb special. My halibut cooked well but was not outstanding - maybe just needed a little more seasoning. Will absolutely be back to try the rest of the menu! read more

Little disappointed with this location. I was so excited to find out that there is a terrain cafe near my house! Similar to other location, there is ample parking and the interior is super cute with the rustic vibes. The food was unmemorable. Starting with their famous flower pot bread...that was so hard that we couldn't eat. The other dishes were okay but was lacking flavor. The best dish we had was the French toast. Hoping to come back here for a better experience! read more
I really wanted to love this place because it looked so cute online! The interior is stunning, perfect for Instagram pics! Unfortunately, the food is just not good, at least not for brunch. They seem unique on the menu but taste bland which is unfortunate. The drinks are decent but I don't think I'll be driving 45 minutes to come back. read more

I'm not sure why this place doesn't have a better rating- I can see some food items being not that great, but the beautiful and unique ambiance of this restaurant outweighs that for me. 3 of my girlfriends and I came here over the summer (the menu changes seasonally), and had a great dinner overall. We made a reservation online several weeks in advance to secure our spot for a Sunday dinner. Our server Amanda was attentive without us feeling like we were being rushed, we enjoyed the cute flower pots the bread came in as it fit into the farm/garden/floral theme, and the food was pretty good. The mushroom soup was surprisingly really tasty for some of us non-mushroom lovers, the seasonal hummus and cheese platter were okay, and we liked our pasta dishes. This would be a beautiful place to have a baby/bridal shower or birthday party! read more

3.5 What a great place to have lunch with the ladies. It's in a great location right on the university grounds. Beautiful area: amazing flowers, plants, wonderful place for a baby/bridal shower. Our server was a joy. Friendly, funny, polite and informative. She gave us plenty of time to eat and talk without feeling rushed or forgotten about. The bread came in a terra-cotta pot which is very unique but the lemon butter was on the bland side. I shared the grilled cheese which came on thick rye bread crispy, crunchy with just the right amount of butter, cheese and had a nice fig jam. The Caesar salad had a good dressing not too over powering with nice grilled chicken. I also tasted the cauliflower which was seasoned very well. I was not impressed with the cheese plate read more

I have heard so many good things about Terrain and finally got the chance to try it while treating myself to a solo meal, and it did not disappoint!! I cannot say enough how STUNNING this place is! I couldn't stop staring. And the drinks and food were all so good (I am forever a charcuterie girly and this was perfection) and the staff was super attentive and friendly. What's even better is that if you dine here you get a 20% off coupon for their garden store next door, how fun! I got some little bath bombs that I can't wait to use. I cannot wait to go back!! read more
