Went to perkins for first time and was not impressed looks like a dying franchise... Service Wasn't bad but the layout and the bakery counter upfront that looked unused it came off as super old. Food was okay except for my eggs they came out cold. I dont think i will be returning. read more

We were hoping for a pleasant lunch, but today was not a good day for turkey and dressing or chicken noodle soup. My wife was disappointed at the temperature the food was served and the quality. The dressing, according to her, looked and tasted like cardboard. Her soup was not hot at all, nor her main dish. I was very sad to see that she could not even eat after this. She would not even order anything else. I odered the meatloaf, and although it had a good taste becasue it's one of my favorite dishes here, the mashed potatotoes really had no flavor at all and tasted very "from the box". What saved my dish are the fried onions... I love these with my meatloaf. I also ordered a small tomato bisque as my second side. It was "warm", not hot, but was good and I ordered toast with it... cause I wanted something to dip. We love Perkins, we really do... but for some reason, this location missed the mark today. The manager did come over and apologize and removed my wife's meal from the receipt and also provided a coupon for a future visit. And our server was the best, polite and understanding. read more

This is an older location where the staff is working to keep it clean and in great shape. There was a strange odor when we first came in, but it did dissipate as the evening went on. Most of the staff was over the top friendly and that is why the 4 stars. Most of us ordered breakfast and it was prepared as ordered and came out hot and good. read more

This is our go-to for comfort food. We have lived around the corner for 20 years and have made this restaurant a staple in our diet. My husband loves vegetables with his protein at dinner. Their veggies are always first rate and not canned. The food is fresh and good and they always try to make it the way YOU want it. The servers are attentive and friendly and quickly rectify any problem. I guess that's why we love them -- family oriented, they remember you, good food, killer pies, fresh veggies and the type of waitress you would covet if you owned a business! We went on a Saturday night and go there around 6:30 pm. The parking lot was almost empty, we were seated almost immediately, and there were only a few customers in the place. I don't know if it's a good or bad sign that the place is that quiet on a Saturday evening. The waitress said she was just coming back after having been off for a long time so she wasn't that familiar with the menu. We got the fried pickles to start but my wife said they tasted like they had already been battered and just thrown in a fryer. So, not freshly made. I got what they called the Monte Crisco in a pancake, which was like an omelet: it had diced turkey, ham, and cheese, but in a pancake instead of an egg. When I ordered, the menu said that it came with either potatoes or hash browns so I ordered hash browns. The waitress came back a few minutes later to make sure that's actually what came with the item. But it wasn't as good as I expected: the taste of the pancake was overwhelming and I couldn't really taste the meat or cheese. Okay, sure, the pancake with the maple syrup was good, but if I wanted to eat pancakes with maple syrup, I would have ordered a stack of pancakes. The hash browns seemed like they weren't cooked all the way through. And it seemed like the diced meat was only stuffed inside and not overflowing, like the picture on the menu. My wife got the fish and chips and it was terrible! First, when the waitress brought them out, it was a few large fish nuggets, and a big pile of fries. The fish was hard and seemed like it wasn't fresh, and one of the nuggets was burned! Her dish was NOTHING AT ALL like the photo shown on the website or on the menu! The photo showed 3 long, golden brown pieces with some fries around it, but hers was more like burned nuggets. I know there's a certain amount of "puffery" on menu photos, but still! We complained to the waitress who then brought the manager over. She said that it's a little hard to cook the fish all the way through while not burning the outside. Yes, but that doesn't explain why the size of the fish doesn't match the menu. She asked my wife if she wanted something else, so she got the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and corn. (And the manager took the fish and chips off our bill.) But it seemed like the mashed potatoes and corn didn't taste fresh, like they were microwaved, since the plate itself was still hot. They had a special price to add a beverage and pie to an entree, so I got the peanut butter silk pie to go. But when I looked at it, it seemed like a fairly small slice, and definitely small for the $4.99 listed on the menu. The service was good and the waitress was quick to refill our drinks and check on us. But overall, we weren't that impressed with the food so I don't know if we'll be back. read more

Stopped here with my daughter and two granddaughters for dinner granddaughters had breakfast and so did my daughter. It was very good and granddaughters also ordered fried pickles which they love very much. I had the club sandwich which was good. The service was amazing. The people and staff were very friendly and helpful. However, there was an odor to the entire place not that you couldn't tolerate, but it was not pleasant. That was the only downside everything else was great. Was going to give it a free rating due to the odor, however could not do that to the staff in the food. read more

The highlight here is the friendly employees. I hope they're treated well. My party visited on a Sunday afternoon, they weren't super busy, which seemed unusual. The tables and menu and condiments were all sticky and kind of gross. The waitress was attentive and kind. As a vegan I ordered the breakfast potatoes (not cooked fully), fruit bowl (slimy melons) and avocado. My friend ordered eggs Benedict which she said didn't taste like anything. Neither of us had been to a Perkins in many years but remembered it being good food. Maybe they were having a bad day? Stopped by for lunch on Sunday and ordered a coffee and a trio special (burger, fries or tater tots, slice of pie, $9.99). The burger was perfect, yummy and juicy, and the coconut cream pie was delicious too. The place looked clean and well-kept, and the wait staff was friendly and helpful. Only one problem: the order took AGES to arrive! The other customers, mostly elderly, were complaining about the slow service too. If there were enough kitchen workers to handle the load, Perkins might be as packed at lunchtime as the other local eateries; as it is, it's a quiet place to enjoy a tasty meal, but bring plenty of patience--you'll need it. read more

Went to the Perkins in Apopka on Christmas, the lady at the front register--Very loud and annoying. Thought she was funny by telling stupid jokes. Waited almost an hour for breakfast. This place operates Mr. beast burger and it is complete garbage. They act like they have no control over it but the same cooks that cook for Perkins is the same cooks that cook for Mr. beast burger. After ordering my food I was excited looking at the menu seen a beautiful big Smashburger and some amazing beast fries. What showed up to me was some trash burger that was so hard it was not edible and fries that looked like they were cooked 20 minutes too long. When logging my complaint they said they do not operate beast burger which is the opposite of what the girl said before the manager came to talk to me she directly told me that the cooks are the same and they operate the same it's just a different name for delivery! Be very cautious of the scam because it goes on quite frequently where restaurants operate fictitious names to deliver garbage food! Love the service here! Very down home atmosphere which is important to a GA girl such as myself. I had a party of 8 waiting for 20 mins at the IHOP across the street. It was a bit ridiculous since the place was pretty empty so we left. Came to Perkins and was seated immediately and..... they had way more people. Our Waitress was very nice and continuously kept our drinks filled. We tried the southern chicken biscuits, the country fried steak, and the steak and eggs. Decided to stop in here for a bite to eat. My server was Laura, she found a great spot for me to sit, brought out drink. Anybody that has read any of my reviews knows of my food allergies, it can be a big problem. Laura was very informative and knows the kitchen there. Gross and disgusting. That about sums it up. There were ants on our table. I proceeded to wipe them with a wet wipe only to realize that the table was covered in filth. I gave them the one star because they were open after the hurricane - Milton - but that dirty issue is not from the hurricane that was previously there. The ceiling tiles had mold. The condiment basket was rusted and gnats were everywhere not to mention that the food was very greasy and lacked taste. The French toast was dry, the pancakes looked like cornbread, the hash browns were sooo greasy. The eggs were something I cannot describe. The drinks - coke and juices had a funky taste to them. The manager joked that she needed to give ppl hard hats bc the tiles kept falling as a result of the hurricane. That issue may not have occurred if the property was properly maintained. We were patient with the waitress bc she was the only one there nevertheless my daughter asked for eggs with her meal and she never got them even though we asked several times, to her and the manager. Who just walked around aimlessly. Nonetheless, we were still charged for the eggs. $100 for 5 ppl for crappy food. Will not be visiting again. When I asked why it was so expensive, the manager made a reference to the current administration. Guess who failed economics??!! Learn how the economy works before you blame ppl in government. We got in and the restaurant was pretty empty, not always the best sign for a a breakfast place that I associate with nostalgia. We waited about 10 minutes for a table. The server, a middle aged woman, was top notch she knew how to upsell, was very friendly and got our order in correctly and promptly. My girlfriend ordered soup it was ice cold, the serve handled the problem well and got her a piping hot soup pretty fast. Our entrees were only okay. If you're looking for over priced average food you can find it here. Otherwise save some money and go to dennys or ihop the prices at this Perkins does not match the quality of food they serve. Came here with my Mom when in town for a visit. We were on the way back from the doctor where she had fasting blood work performed and obviously wanted to eat afterwards! It took a minute to be seated and we were for some reason placed right into a crowd when there were plenty of other open tables, sort of odd. We were at a table and I could've easily reached out and touched the man in the booth next to me. As a matter of fact, we did shake hands when he left as he was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam. It also took a minute or two to get someone's attention to pay at the very end, as Perkins is a "pay up front at the register" joint as opposed to leaving payment with your server from the table. They've got a decent sized menu, similar to any decent diner with an emphasis on desserts and "home cooked" style food: think pancakes, turkey with stuffing, things like that. I went with a waffle, turkey sausage and bacon. Waffle was cooked perfectly and the bacon was actually not too floppy and greasy for a restaurant. My mom had pancakes that she enjoyed and also had turkey sausage. The coffee is typical diner coffee, meaning if you drink it black as I do, you won't taste much. At least they leave an entire carafe at the table for you. Service was attentive at first but trailed off toward the end. That's ok as we were full and got everything we needed. My main complaint is the cleanliness, I didn't expect schmutz on the front doors at 10 am and so-so bathrooms. It's also not the cheapest in the world. A simple waffle with no sides is around $9. I hate eggs so that also limits the options for breakfast. Mom took home a couple of muffins and chocolate chip cookies. I sampled a cookie and it was pretty good, soft but not crumbly. Also no urgency from staff at all. Hostess dragging her feet and mumbling to everyone . Perkins is going down hill - the whole chain. Restaurant was not prepared for the onslaught of Easter dinner. We had to wait in the lobby for a while but yet they were plenty of booths opened in the restaurant. When we finally got seated my wife ordered the turkey which was very dry and not very tasty. I ordered the eggs Benedict. the first bite that I took there was a long piece of hair in it. When we finally got the waitress's attention (after about 10 minutes) she came to us and asked "is there a problem" and I showed her the hair. I'll get you another one was her statement. No apology. I did get my second order and they did comped me for it. There was a couple of gentlemen in the booth in back of us who complained about their turkey meals as well, this will probably be our last visit. The pie however was awesome. read more

I gave this Perkins a second chance because I like the food, and living in Apopka it is close. I will never come back to this Perkins, the server that had an attitude took over 5 minutes to come to our table to take our drink/food order. We got our salads (after a rather long wait) and then it took 25 minutes before our burger and turkey sandwiches was brought out. My burger was barely warm, the bun cold...I was going to return it but was too hungry to wait another 20 minutes.
