Finally, the power failed utterly to the problem circuits. Markarian sent Brandon Hill over in 15 minutes -- yes, FIFTEEN. He listened carefully to our description, gave his opinion that it was a utility problem, but that he would test for other possibilities first. After testing some of the circuits, he gave his hypothesis that we were having a phase problem: one of the two lines into the house was not supplying enough voltage. He tested the meter outside, showed us the low voltage on one line, and explained how the lines feed the circuits in a pattern that would cause the unpredictable outages. He also took pictures. He stood by while we called Eversource to make sure that we could answer all their questions. From initial call to final diagnosis, everyone at Markarian was efficient, courteous, and helpful. Brandon was friendly, professional, and easy to talk to and understand. I would recommend Markarian without hesitation.

His knowledge of the wiring codes had him replace the breakers for the tub under recent code changes. Then he said he did recall, but he was working on a big job, and he gave me the same information about how he has these big jobs going on and feels badly there are so many local people who he can't get to. Ok, I thought I'll play along with this and I asked hiim politely when he expected he could get out. He said maybe on his way home. I said, what time would that be, he said 5 pm, but it was already 4:30 pm. Oh, that's right, he said that wouldn't work. He said I should call him next week and he would see what he could do and that he would never remember to call me since he doesn't write anything down. Needless to say I don't care how inexpensive your prices are or how good your work is, or what your trade is - doctor, electricain, hairdresser, tinker, tailor, sailorman - treating a customer like their time is less valuable than yours AND not having common courtesy to take 3 minutes to call and cancel or explain you are too busy means you are not running a good business. My sense is....this electricain will be happy to get paid to do work for you if he isn't busy with a bigger job but, converesley, will not tell you he's too busy to take on your job because he wants to keep your business for the times work is slow. That being said as it turns out the wonderful electrician we hired by way of recommendatioin from 3 local (Mayard/Acton/Sudbury) businesses ened up having to spend a full day to fix what turned out to be a large issue. E/R Electric (Eddie Rodgriguez) was the electrical subcontractor for my bathroom renovation project and installed a Panasonic Whisper-quiet exhaust fan with heater. He instructed my wife and I to "never run the heater and the exhaust fan simultaneously or you will burn up the motor". I should have questioned this at the time but was busy dealing with other major issues with the renovation. Well.. after the fan burned up for accidentally switching both on at the same time, I called a local electrician since we had other electrical work in the house to be done. The electrician who responded had to do a bit of research including discussing the issue on the phone with Panasonic customer support, and ultimately determined that the fan was wired incorrectly and installed with two hot wires connected (one for each the heater and exhaust) instead of a single hot wire to both as clearly spelled out in the wiring instructions for this fan. As this is a $400 fan, my new electrician suggested we reach out to E/R Electric, as he assumed it would save me money in parts and labor, fully expecting that Eddie Rodriguez would want to know he installed it incorrectly and fix the problem out of professional courtesy. Well this was the only thing my new electrician was wrong about, as Eddie reacted like a real jerk instead-- he refused to come and look at the issue, refused to speak to my new electrician, and basically just refused to be a decent person let alone a professional. So I paid nearly $2000 to have this repaired by the new electrician who was shocked at the response I received. He also found electrical code violations by E/R including multiple buried / hidden junction boxes and other technical shortfalls. Hopefully Eddie reads this and will learn to install these correctly, because now that the fan is wired correctly we CAN run the exhaust fan and heater simultaneously after all!! The entire situation and findings were so shocking that my new electrician has suggested I file a complaint with the state licensing board, which I am considering. Bottom line...DO NOT USE THIS ELECTRICIAN.

I've been in construction and buying a selling homes for 30 years. this is by far the worst subcontractor I've ever used in my professional career. The first time I've had to file a small claims lawsuit on a subcontractor for being so unprofessional and refusing to pay me back the money he scammed from me.
