Well Ace calls me next day and tells me he was able to make a key from existing lock and all set in less than 24 hours...vs item sitting at other lock place for at least 6 months or more until I asked about and told me to pick it up.... Well staffed at Ace and stocked, know their stuff... I'll be doing all my business there in future.... Quick, reasonable and great staff.

I had Ace come to my home a couple of months ago to re-key two doorknobs. After they left, one of…read morethe doorknobs would catch occasionally and not open even though it wasn't locked. I lived with it for a while as it would open after jiggling it a little. Recently, it got worse, so I called Ace to come and look at it. When the tech got here, he said they "don't fix that" but he could replace it the doorknob. He was here for maybe a half hour total and installed a new $40 doorknob. I was charged $307 dollars. Apparently, I was charged $90 just for the guy to drive here and $175/hr (one our minimum). I found this to be absolutely outrageous, especially given the fact that I didn't have a problem until Ace re-keyed my locks. I will never use them again and I strongly suggest that you don't either. It's no wonder people can't afford to live when business screw people like this. Disgusting.

We initially discussed the job would take 2-3 hours at $85 / hour (for one person) with the understanding that due to retrofitting a new system to an older existing system could take longer. Two people were assigned to the job (which I didn't authorize or expect to pay for) and the job took 5 and half hours. In my view the original job time was grossly underestimated and these people are supposed to be experts so job should not have taken approximately 11 man hours and cost double what I had expected. Lesson learned for me and others to specifically clarify cost and job time limits up front.
