Wine Country French Toast
Teena M.

This place is worth the hype! Very cute Full bar Espresso bar The food - AMAZING Our server really knew the menu well and had great recommendations We opted for one of Guy Fieris recommendations- Wine Country French Toast - I have never had French toast this good! We also tried the Baja omelette which came with rosemary potatoes and I chose rye toast. The omelette was incredibly tasty and the rosemary potatoes were perfectly cooked. My husband tried the Corn beefed country style hash and he raved about it all day. My son had the breakfast burrito supreme - the size was fit for a king and the sauce was the boss. (Which they sell by the bottle btw) My daughter had a waffle with bacon and eggs and she wasn't disappointed. I tried the Guava mimosa and I loved that it wasn't sweet. It was mainly prosecco. So good! Their coffee just tasted like typical diner coffee I cannot wait to come back to this breakfast spot again! It definitely is in my top ten breakfast in the Valley!

Steak and Eggs

Its been a couple years since I have reviewed Perks Eatery in No Scottsdale on Greenway Parkway. This remains a reliable breakfast restaurant for us on our annual visits. The staff are cheerful and always prompt with service. On this years trip I wanted to add a review of my husband's new favorite breakfast "The Cowboy steak and eggs". The beef filet medallions are served with eggs, toast and roasted potatoes. My husband opted for a side of his favorite New Mexico Chili sauce. He had this dish at least 4 different times and each time the beef was cooked perfectly medium rare. This is a great meal before a long day playing golf or sight seeing. I appreciate that this restaurant remains consistently good in quality, quantity and price.

Huevos Rancheros

So good! Loved my first visit to Perk Eatery. The house made chorizo is fabulous, especially in the Huevos Rancheros with the green chili sauce. Paired with the one pancake we just had to try, made a great balance between savory and sweet. Tip! If you're ordering from the Espresso Bar, order it on ice and get twice as much! The space might be small, but it's light, bright and interesting.

The food was great with way too large of portions. I had the Gordo and my wife the two eggs with bacon and rosemary potatoes. She had the rye bread and it was amazing. Both meals were excellent with very fresh ingredients. Even the rosemary potatoes were very smooth and delicious. The menu is large for a breakfast place. The staff was very friendly, efficient and quick with the food being hot on delivery- something many places fail to do. While busy the staff was very attentive. They must treat staff well as one mentioned she drives over an hour to work here and loves it! The ambiance is a simple casual dining... exactly what one expects in a strip mall. Simple with walls decorated with sayings. Exactly what one expects.

Checked out this breakfast spot and had hoped for a better experience. The restaurant is clean, bright and has plenty of both indoor & outdoor seating. We were seated promptly and delivered water. Coffee drinks took a while and were just not good - I'm no coffee snob but it was not drinkable. The omelet I ordered was fine and was accompanied by loads of potatoes. The English muffin was not good either ( my opinion) - should have ordered toast. Long wait for bill to be presented considering the place was not overly busy. Perhaps we visited on an off day.

I'm not a big breakfast eater, and I can certainly create something pretty good at home, so it's nice when I get taken out for the first meal of the day. This was my first time at Perk, and I was definitely not disappointed. The menu was extensive with the usual; eggs, waffles, hash, French toast, etc., but then they slipped in a few irresistibles. It was a tough choice: lemon/ricotta French toast or their wine country version. I went for the grapes! Out came perfect thick slices of egg-soaked bread with melted brie in the middle. The syrup had a hint of rosemary, and the roasted grapes were like candy. I could not finish it all. My host ended up full and happy with his choice. The employees are friendly and efficient, and the restaurant is so clean. They also have seating outside, and the liquor license allows for a Mimosa or Bloody Mary to accompany your meal. Prices are about average for the area, and they do add a surcharge if you use a credit card. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

I haven't had a drink I haven't liked, you can't go wrong with any of them. The 50 first dates has become my favorite, however. For food, the milk bread is a delicious starter. The chicken tenders are also amazing. Can't wait to go back!

Based on how this place is described and marketed, we were expecting an intimate, vintage-feeling evening where we could sit down, have a cocktail, listen to jazz, and enjoy the atmosphere. That was not our experience. There were definitely things we liked. The location was great, the overall theme and decor were beautiful, the lighting created a great atmosphere, and we enjoyed the food and drinks. The service was also very good. However, the entertainment was a huge miss and completely took us out of the experience. We walked in and the band was performing "Genie in a Bottle," followed by other current/recent pop songs, Backstreet Boys songs, and "Creep." The singer was repeatedly screaming into the microphone and encouraging everyone to scream and make noise. At one point, while sitting in what is supposed to be a speakeasy, we were literally listening to him sing "creep" which is one of the most depressing songs of all time. It felt much more like being at a loud dive bar or country bar than an intimate 1920s inspired speakeasy. My biggest issue is that the entertainment did not match the experience being advertised. You can decorate a room beautifully and make it look like the 1920s, but when the soundtrack is "Genie in a Bottle," "Creep," and Backstreet Boys songs being loudly belted into a microphone, the illusion disappears pretty quickly. The noise level also made it difficult to simply sit, have a drink, talk, and enjoy the space. We specifically chose this place because we wanted that relaxed jazz/speakeasy experience, and that simply wasn't what we got. The cocktail selection was another disappointment. For a speakeasy-style bar, I expected a stronger selection of specialty bourbon and whiskey cocktails. The prices also felt excessive for the overall experience. On top of the already-high prices, we paid a $20 entertainment cover ($10 per person) specifically for the band. I wouldn't have minded paying a cover for quality live entertainment that fit the advertised atmosphere, but the artist was not particularly impressive and, more importantly, the music didn't fit the theme at all. There is a lot of potential here. The space itself is beautiful, the service was good, and they nailed many of the visual details. Unfortunately, the entertainment is such a major part of a speakeasy experience that it overshadowed everything else for us. If you're specifically looking for jazz, flapper-era music, and an authentic-feeling 1920s speakeasy atmosphere, I would not recommend this place based on our experience.

The appetizer (bacon wrapped dates) only came with two small ones, and the fig app was even smaller they looked the size of peanut size m&m's. The main dishes were also not great, the skewers were lacking in flavor and the polenta had a weird texture. The tri tip just came out without any ask to cooking temp and was overcooked (well done).
