Great place to visit when in the New Orleans area. This place is where all the locals go. I was actually recommended to go by a local. It had a large choice of items to order. Mostly Cajun style food. It was amazing my friend had a build your own poor boy and it was huge. We ordered the chargrilled oysters, calamari and assorted boil. It had crawfish, shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes, and crab legs. Everything was amazing and the service was as well. The place was busy and you can tell a lot of people knew everyone. They have two separate areas one for dining and an area for 18 and up. It's a bar area. This place is really friendly. Your food comes out fresh and delicious. My dear friends from Louisiana made this our first stop on my trip down to visit, and I can definitely see the appeal. Between about 8 of us we must have tried everything on the menu and it was all fabulous. Never in my life did I ever think I'd eat a crawfish but I'm happy to report they are delicious here! Gumbo was great as well. The biggest appeal for me were the oysters. We opted for the seafood stuffed chargrilled oysters which were absolutely delicious and addicting. I love me some oysters and these definitely topped the list. They also have a lot of fried seafood which was tasty but I think the real draw here is the oysters and crawfish. Janelle and Chester were amazing last night! This is my go to restaurant for lightly fried shrimp, not crazy about the french fries wish there was a substitute. You get huge butterfly Deveined shrimp fresh farm raised. I know many people have a problem with some of the waitresses they are a little snooty, borderline racist, not really sure what the problem is maybe they are just not happy with themselves. I haven't been there in a while because my husband doesn't like this restaurant for the above mentioned waitresses. However I've gone there a couple times without him and last night again I enjoyed myself thanks to Jenelle and Chester the kept me entertained while dining alone. Can't wait to go back! read more

Perino's didn't really stand out to me in any above-average ways. You get a good amount of food with your order, but the prices are a bit steep for the quality of the food. Nothing seemed seasoned beyond a bit of salt and pepper, which is a shame because the seafood was fried well. We ordered po' boys, the bread of which could of been a little fresher. The condiments, like lettuce and tomato, came in a little plastic container. It was a build-your-own type deal, and it kind of felt unnecessary since we weren't eating it to-go. The wait staff seemed to do a whole lot of standing around and avoiding eye contact or just flat out ignoring diners. We just weren't impressed. Meh... The GNOA disappoints again when it comes to boiled seafood. Granted, I'm a picky Cajun gal... but generally this place was mediocre at best. Hush puppies to start were delicious, but pricy. My grandmother had the shrimp basket. The shrimp were a nice size, but tastes frozen and were not seasoned at all. Nor were her fries, not even with salt. I had the Dungeness crab, which was the only reasonably priced thing on the menu. And it was okay, but under seasoned. I've had better boiled seafood from transplants in Houston. Lastly, the service was awful. Our waitress kept disappearing behind the bar just standing around not paying attention to us at all. Wouldn't waste time or money giving them another shot. read more

The atmosphere kind of threw me off as soon as I walked in. There's dead/fake animals all over and the lighting is super bright. Located on the West Bank right past the Harvey Tunnel (depending on which way you approach it) near a night club & a motel. Seems like a family owned restaurant more than a chain restaurant, that's a plus #supportlocallyowned. Walk in you can sit at the bar or seat yourself & sit in the animal adorned dining area. Loads of gaming animals both large & small lets you know the owner/decorator is a hunter... Ya think? Spooky, yet kinda cool. So on to the food & the service. The menu is sure to please even the pickiest eater; gumbo, fried seafood, boiled seafood, salads, there's something for everyone. Drinks by way of soda, water, draft & bottled beer, cool beans. Service is good, I found the servers to be attentive & that's a plus. But I didn't like paying $2.75 to make my platter a po-boy; why charge for bread, lettuce, tomatoes & pickles when you're already paying for the platter????? Why not just charge for a po-boy??? A few months ago, we went to this place with our parents from China and we all loved it! I just happened to think about this place today and wanted it soooooo bad but I'm in houston. :( The place isn't a super fancy one, maybe more family and tradition oriented but the food is good. We had 5-pound crawfish, a dozen chargrilled oysters, and fried alligator. The latter two are AMAZING! I swear I never had this delicious alligator meat at any place. Their fried food/sauce/ingredients tastes sooooo good! Now I really miss it. Someone please let us know if you have had similar quality and taste food in Houston so that I can go. I may have been just so missed it so that I sound like Houston has no better food... I believe Houston does but I just didn't find out. Nonetheless, this place is amazing. WOW. This place is everything I wanted in a NOLA crawfish boil place: 1. The ambiance- casual. The food was served in a large vat, and they give you another vat to put your "ruins" in. It is fun to see one empty as you fill the otther one. There are the old style video games in the back. It is nothing fancy, but you still feel comfortable at this sit-down restaurant. They keep it casual, but it is a clean and friendly atmosphere. The staff was very polite and constantly checked on us. I don't think my water glass ever got close to empty. Also the locals are here, so you KNOW this place is good! We saw this old couple who have been coming there "as long as they could remember"- they swear by it! 2. The food Crawfish- How do they pack so much flavor!? SO good! The tails just slipped easily out of the crawfish, easy to eat. Shrimp- also good, but not my favorite. For some reason, the crawfish seemed to hold in the flavor. For 3 lbs crawfish is the same price as 1 lb shrimp, so I'd stick to that Fried catfish- crispy outside, juicy inside. Perfect. Fries- perfect counterpart to your seafood. Boiled corn- doesn't have the spices of the boil, but tastes fresh LOVED it here, would recommend that everyone take the short trek away from the French Quarter to enjoy a local bite here. read more

My "local" friend brought me here, so if I had to find it again, I would get lost...however, as others have stated, definitely a place to enjoy the bountiful seafood from New Orleans. As long as locals continue to eat at the place and not the tourists, this would remain a hidden gem in the Crescent City. Humongous oysters on the half shelf ($10 for a dozen), crabs, crawfish, shrimp, very flavorful, order by the pound. The potatoes and corn on the cob were bland, but you need the blandness to counteract the flavorfulness (in other words, the spicyness) of the seafood. Wash it all down with Abita ale on tap (order by the pitcher) - life is good. The decor is very simple - actually a bit retro (probably original) but you can tell that capital ($$$) is definitely spent on maintaining the quality and quantity of the food being served. Service, seafood quality and quantity are outstanding...wash all down with cold Abita bier...life is good. In a battle between man verses food, seafood may win. read more

The staff were really friendly and helpful. Charbroiled oysters were my first ever, that I've tried. They were ok. Nothing to right home about. The crawfish were overcooked and didn't have a ton of flavor. Same for the shrimp- they were like rubber, left those on the plate. Alligator was nothing interesting either, bland batter. Had to buy potatoes and corn separately. Corn had some decent flavor /heat. The potatoes were plain, no butter. Nothing. I went on a local's recommendation so was expecting a bit more. Consider $30 round trip for the Uber and $95 for dinner for two with a couple of beers, water and a sweet tea, it's not a place I'd return or recommend. The staff were friendly. That's what the 3 stars were for. I left a 20% tip. But for a night out with $145, we might have well gone to the French Quarter for those prices. read more

I visited Perrino's Boiling Point for the first time, back in 2011 and i really enjoyed their crawfish! They were fresh, juicy, and just spicy enough. The decor was pretty interesting at first, But reminded me of my childhood, because my grandfather was a hunter. Felt nostalgic and extremely casual. But the BEST thing they have to offer is their OYSTERS!!! So, i go around trying oysters all over because i wasn't the biggest fan and wanted to find some i could truly enjoy. I just happened to see that they sold oysters here. When i tell you, these are some of the best oysters I've ever tasted!! The seafood stuffed ones are awesome, but so are the charbroiled! I can't even say which is the best! The charbroiled cost about $18 for a dozen and the seafood costs about $21...a little more, as expected. Totally worth your time! Quickly switched up my order to blue crab, seafood stuffed oysters, fried calamari and LEMME TELL U I WAS IN HEAVEN. Mona was an excellent server! I had to give Perino's Boiling Pot a "meh. i've experienced better." THE AMBIANCE: Perino's Boiling Pot ("Perino's") is a fairly large restaurant. I was there with a group of about eight (8) and we were sat at two (2) tables placed together. They have these large crawfish and alligator statues in the front you can take pictures with; I thought they were fun. THE FOOD: We ordered a bunch of different seafood and the seafood came in double-tier trays. The seafood came with slight seasoning. I felt like, that's it? Most of it came with no seasoning, which is fine. The seafood also came with some salted crackers in-wrapper. We all ordered large beers because beer is a necessity with seafood, as is lemon/lime. I wish Perino's had butter on the side I could dip my seafood in. The side potatoes ($2.79/lb.) were whatever. I did enjoy the Dungeness Crabs (2 clusters for $17.50), which you have to take apart as they come whole. In all honesty the winner was the new item on the menu: Charbroiled Oysters!!! I saw them on the menu and my spirit lit up with joy. We ordered the Charbroiled Oysters - Cheese and Garlic Butter Sauce ($18.98 per dozen/$10.98 per dozen) and they were delicious! I would come back only to eat these and the whole Dungeness Crabs. The rest was not worth it for me, including the regular oysters (not the kind I like; fat and slimy). The first thing you notice is the freakish number of taxidermied creatures. THERE'S A LOT! The place is pretty bare bones... besides all the animals. You get real plates, but plastic utensils. There are rolls of papertowels on the table as only befits a seafood joint. We had the gumbo which was 100% seafood with zero sausage, my favorite! And the cup is really a bowl and the bowl is enormous. My friends had raw oysters which looked plump and luscious. Then there was the 5 pounds of crawfish (price break for 5 pounds so $20 on Monday). And I also had the seafood salad. The seafood was tasty but the lettuce was blah. Why do I do this to myself? This was a fantastic Louisiana experience for a first timer! I'm from California and met my boyfriend's family for the holidays. I never ate crawfish until I came here. It arrived on a large tray with a bag of potatoes and placed on a stand. The server put another tray beneath the stand for our empty shells. Luckily, I had locals explain how to eat crawfish which takes a lot of time and hard work but folks, it's good. I unshelled 1 crawfish to my boyfriend's brother 2.4 crawfish. We also ate the catfish, shrimp, boudin and oysters. The catfish and shrimp came with fries and were yummy. The boudin was interesting. Not bad. Not great. Ok. The oysters were the best!!! Omg! This is a pretty basic place: they have a bar area, you sit at a table and you order whatever you want. We decided to get a few pounds of crawfish, potatoes and two big pieces of sausage. The crawfish was pretty good, and although I like it when it's a bit spicier, I enjoyed them. It's early in the season, so they were small and some were mealy, but that's not the fault of Perino's. Pitcher of beer was perfectly cold Full order of oysters arrived in 10 seconds flat 5 pounds of crawfish, sausage and potatoes were right behind them. Everything was perfect. Oysters were a good size and tasted of salt and sea. Crawfish were a bit on the small size but it is early in the season, flavor and heat were spot on. Again I wish I could award and addition 1/2 star because this place is great only thing I didn't like was that everything really came out all at once which crowed the table but my partner and I managed to clear all the plates anyway. read more

When you live on the Westbank there are 3 places I go to get crawfish and this is number one. Yes it's a Cajun restaurant & bar and yes they have stuffed animal decor but guess what? It's what you see when you want to go somewhere that knows how to cook their seafood. Crawfish are in season and I've been here twice this week to get crawfish. The crawfish have been a decent size, super juicy and well seasoned. Their menu also has fried seafood plates and they have raw, charbroiled or seafood stuffed oysters! Also have fired alligator meat. That's always a tourist favorite. My second must have item is the raw oysters. Man oh man they hit the spot everytime. The location may seem a bit sketchy. It is part of a hotel and real close to some funky clubs (to be reviewed soon) and if your not looking for it, easily missed. There is the westbank expressway, upper and lower. You need to be down on the service road by the Harvey Tunnel. The atmosphere is kinda low key no frills, but it is huge and absolutely made for large groups. No reservations needed, I dont think they do them anyways, but a group of 20 is easy for these people. Its long tables, maybe folding for all I know, with covers on them. Each table has a nice assortment of sauces. Hot sauce, mayo, cocktail sauce, katsup, different hot sauces and tar tar. A roll of paper towels too, as also a steel tray that is used to hold the trays. They have a bar room along with pool tables too. Draft beer is available. Call ahead though because they have been known to close for vacation. Which really sucks because the staff is amazing and and their fried food is great.. the name of this restaurant should make people think their boiled seafood is amazing but it's quite the opposite. I was in NOLA in May for a conference with my fiance. We knew that it was still Crawfish season so we were looking for a good local place to get some good boiled crawfish. We met some locals at the French Quarter and they directed us to Perino's. Boy were we glad they did. We ordered 3 lbs of crawfish and 2 lbs of shrimp. The 2 of us finished the whole tray. The crawfish were wonderful - full of flavor and spice. The shrimps were just so-so, can't compare to the crawfish. It was definitely worth the trip away from the touristy part of NOLA. Price was great. Food was great. We felt like we ate with the locals. Would definitely come back if I make my way back to NOLA. read more
