CAJUN SEAFOOD!!! My oh my, does this place have my heart! They know how to get down right here. It was super close to where we were staying, and since I didn't catch a seafood boil in the Quarter or anywhere else in town, I had to try this spot. My friend and I had our eyes on it, but once our Uber driver confirmed it was a bomb spot, we were all in and it did not disappoint. I even met a lady who drives 45 minutes just to get here, so if she makes that trek, you know this is the spot. I will be dreaming of this place! Being takeout-only gave it that authentic, local vibe, and I loved every bite. Unlike the typical mixed seafood boils, they bag everything separately, and I mixed it all together once I got back to my place. They have some garlic butter you can add, and I got it spicy! It definitely had a kick, and I loved it. I had a pound of shrimp, added sausage, two boiled eggs, the BOMBEST potatoes and corn, all tossed with the spicy garlic butter and I devoured it. Let me just brag on that shrimp and those potatoes for a second: both were amazing. The potatoes were cooked to perfection! Soft, not mushy, and seasoned just right. And the shrimp? Wow. I can still taste it. If you're in NOLA, you have to check this spot out! I will say one more thing though I wish I had room to try the gumbo! I would have loved to taste it here. Lastly, I didn't get to grab a po' boy in town, so we came back the next morning to try one. Sadly, the seafood section wasn't ready yet (we went around 10:30am), but the roast beef po' boy with gravy, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and maybe few other ingredients in it was incredible. I loved it! Food: Yakamein aka Yaka Meat (NOLA style) - I hadn't had this exquisite NOLA native cuisine in a long time and I hadn't been craving it especially with the lowered temperature in the city. It was filled with nice chunks of beef, shrimps, and chicken. The broth was perfect (some places make it way too salty) and definitely satisfied my palate. Seafood Gumbo - Like most New Orleanians like me, we don't eat just anyone's gumbo. This hit the spot in every way gumbo should hit the spot! Service: Impeccable! Everyone I've come in contact with at Cajun's on Broad Street have been nothing short of wonderful. My experience has been amazing because they will address you with a smile as soon as they see you. They take your order and engage you in conversation treating you like a human being and not $$$. The staff is courteous and efficient. Ambiance: Fun family vibe and personal attention. It is takeout only - there is no seating available. I saw a few pictures and reviews on Yelp that mentioned seating but that is not the case, at least not at the Broad location. It's small inside and you get in line to order and then pay at the register. There are some free parking spots around the corner on Washington Ave in front of the beauty supply store. Don't bother trying to park in the restaurant's parking lot, it's a mess with everyone double parked so even if you find a spot you might get blocked in. Honestly we were a little concerned about leaving the car around the corner where we couldn't see it, but it was fine and we weren't there for too long. You can definitely tell this place is a local's favorite. It was packed and had a long line to order when we walked inside. The staff was very efficient though and the line moved quickly. The service was expedient, about what I would expect from a seafood market type of establishment. Courteous enough but definitely no nonsense as they are very busy and have to run a tight ship to keep things moving along. They mistakenly overcharged me for something and when I pointed it out they refunded the difference without any issues. As for the food, everything we tried was on point. 10/10. Crawfish was super tasty. The cajun seasoning was flavorful and spicy. I don't know what they did to the corn but it was amazing. They must have boiled it in butter or something. Potatoes were perfect and had great flavor. We also ordered the shrimp fried rice and shrimp po-boy, both were great. Prices are very reasonable for what you get. Wow... my friend recommended me to this place for seafood boil. First off .. apparently it's in the hood per my Uber drivers. They don't have anywhere for you to sit, so you purchase & bring it back to your place. It's super spicy if you can't handle spice. I could handle it, but was struggling. The sauce is really flavorful & it doesn't taste oily like other places I've had. I'm Asian and the rice isn't what I'm used to (hard long grain). We got 5 lbs. of spicy crawfish and a few corn, plus spicy garlic butter on the side. You can order your seafood boil regular or spicy. We chose spicy because we knew they would bring the heat. The spice level had us teary eyed. Don't order spicy if you're in between spice tolerances, just get the spicy garlic butter to dip into. The crawfish were succulent and juicy, so flavorful with spicy Cajun seasoning. First, you have to separate the head from the tail. Next pinch off the head and suck it, getting all the succulence. Then, peel the tail, dip it into the spicy garlic butter which makes it literally out of this world. Imagine little, tiny lobster tails. The spicy garlic butter was house-made and an extra $4 for each little 2 oz. sauce container. Well worth it, this stuff was liquid heaven. The crawfish was $5.99/lb, an unbeatable price for the quality and quantity. Ended our feast with a slice of Ooey Gooey Red Velvet Cake. Every bite was a soft, buttery, melt in your mouth delight. OMG! The best Cajun Seafood and Po Boys ever!!! The gumbo is the best I've ever had- a deep rich seafood stock full of of shrimp, chicken, andouille and crab. Soft shell crab Po Boy and hamburger Po Boys were fresh and delicious on soft yummy bread. Fantastic every single time. Cajun Seafood tends to be really consistent and delicious. As I've said before, this is the best spot for boiled seafood in the city! It's been a hot minute since we've come to get food here, and we noticed a few changes. It's not such a "hole in the wall" kind of place anymore; I would say it's a little less divey since they revamped it. However, the boiled seafood is just the same as before! I admit we went a little overboard this time. We got some: *Shrimp fried rice - Pretty great! No skimping on shrimp, fresh scallions, no complaints. June 2023 and fresh boiled crawfish was $5.99/lb. A little on the pricy side but not terrible. I devoured 3 pounds, usually I'm full after 2.75 lbs so maybe the portion size was small or maybe I was hungry. Great flavor and spicy yet it also had a hint of sweetness. Pretty fresh although there were a handful of dead ones. Corn was actually good, it had tons of flavor, only 89 cents. Sausage for 2.99 each was kind of dry and not great tasting. So Cajun's is a great restaurant for "Cajun" crawfish. They really hit the Cajun flavor that any good crawfish should have. Spicy, seasoned...what most Louisianians love. They also have pretty good turkey necks and other side items. Again, all seasoned well and spiced just right. However, I'm quite disappointed in their snow crabs. They're small, a bit hollow, and it's obvious that they are usually not fresh (at least in my opinion). Mine had a brownish fatty-like substance on the body part. But, like their other seafood, the taste was near perfect. Oh, and shoutout to Cajuns for actually having decently boiled potatoes. I cannot name the countless places I have tried that seem to totally dismiss the idea of having quality potatoes. Cajuns is not the best in this area, but they're not the worst. I had a surprise 50th bday weekend in NOLA planned for my hubby so I googled the best place to get a crawfish seafood boil and Cajun Seafood was top of list. So I contacted Mary and started the process. We ordered 3 large sheet pans full of crawfish, large snow crab leg clusters, blue crab, shrimp, corn, sausage and potatoes. The amount recommended was perfect and the price was fair. She made it extra special by giving me a half tray for each of my guests to use, a bib, gloves, crab crackers, crab tools and a lot of napkins. She even gave me to go foam boxes for everyone.. It's basically a little convenient store type place on the corner at a busy intersection (their streets are just weird in general). 1st Visit: I ordered 2lbs of crawfish & 1 sausage link which totaled up to $12.59. The crawfish was cheap which is a plus in my book & hot & spicy...as in my mouth was on fire lol but they were so good. As for the sausage, I wasted $1.99 because it was disgusting (I still ate it though). I was better off getting corn or maybe even a turkey neck. Every one else ordered meat-pies which they stated were a little spicy but simply delicious. The best part is that the food was fresh. 2nd Visit (2 days later): We all ordered meat-pies so this time I got my own taste & they were right on time. Ultimately, I will be back during my next visit to NOLA. The only downfalls that I see is that they lack seating for customers & parking. The space isn't that big but even just a few seats while waiting would be nice. There are a few parking spots on the side but people end up parking behind each other & blocking each other. During this time we call quarantine life in south Louisiana there are only two things that make me happy, crawfish and beer. Cajuns, you bring one part of life to me, your yummy, spicy, flavorful crawfish and sides! On this day, there were a couple people in front of me, no big deal. ..There's a wait everywhere now a days but it wasn't really that bad max I was there probably 20mins tops. During our one night stay in New Orleans I really wanted to have some crawfish. So I came across this place on yelp and decided to check it out. It's a small family owned place it seems like. Service was OK, they were efficient with handing out the orders being placed. They have a pretty good selection of seafood, Poboy's, and some Asian style food. I decided to get the crawfish which were nicely seasoned and spicy, fried turkey wings, pigs feet, snow crab, soft shell crab poboy, and catfish poboy. Everything was very good. My only complaint is the snow crab was on the pricey side and was over cooked. If we ever stop by New Orleans again I will definitely come back to try more items on their menu. Now, if you are coming here to dine at the establishment, then don't bother. This is pure takeout joint. Order your food, pay and go back to your home. We went with three pounds of crawfish, some corn, some potatoes and a pound of shrimp. Their food is on the spicy side, as they infuse New Orleans and Asian spices... if you are not a fan of spicy food, then skip Cajun Seafood. So we paid and went back to our hotel... we grabbed some newspaper and enjoyed our purchase.
