I had a relatively pleasant purchase experience and got a good price on a 2003 5 Series. But, service has been extremely disappointing. My car developed squeaking door seals that took 4 visits over a year and a half to fix. The final solution? Clear tape on the door and frame surfaces! Unbelievable for a $45k car. I'm also tired of hearing "could not replicate customer concern" in response to my complaint that the car idles loud. Has gotten much worse - I've been told by another mechanic that it is probably a bad starter. Even more irritating, every time the car came back it was banged up with door dings and bumper dents. Took me a while to figure out that the damage was happening there. I thought it was in my condo garage. Turns out that 4 or 5 people I work with that service their cars there have had the same experience. Apparently they park the cars in storage within inches of one another. I live withing walking distance of Perillo but I have decided to go for service elsewhere. Anyone have a particularly positive experience with one of the suburban BMW dealerships? The idle noise that Perillo "couldn't replicate" they fixed by replacing the whatever-starts-the-car system. It's spacious, calm, and clean. Non of that tire-screeching pandemonium that goes on at Perillo. They park the cars on a big lot with plenty of room to open the door without denting every adjacent door panel. Best of all, they are open on Saturdays and will change your oil while you wait (better call first). What's not to like? It's right off the expressway so if you can travel from the city in non-rush hours it's a breeze. read more

I bought a car 5 months ago, not a great deal but that was my choice. Went back as my husband who lives out of town saw one online that he liked. Again no bargain at all but he found what he wanted ( both used) agreed to car and price. Had a dent on hood, said they would fix it once we committed. We committed, they fixed, husband flew back in after taking day off, while there car is out for a test drive. They said good thing you are here 10 mins later and car would be gone..they start paperwork and guy comes over says it is not yours anymore we have to sell to other guy. To be fair, they had something very similar coming in later that day. No I am sorry, no ownership of error. Blatant disrespect and don't care if they sell you a car or not. I purchased a 2007 X3 from Perillo in 2008. Because of my purchase, my friend purchased a BMW from this establishment. He purchased BECAUSE OF my REFERRAL. I went into the dealership today to purchase my second pre certified BMW. That would have equalled $90,000 in revenue for Perillo from me BETWEEN MY PURCHASES AND REFERRALS. I have a trade in and am ready to buy a pre certified 3 series. -The woman at the front desk's demeanor was apathetic. Sitting behind a space ship sized desk asking blankly, "What kind of car do you want?" seems a little beneath the BMW experience. -She began calling people (that were less than 30 feet away) to help me. I could see the person she was speaking to on the phone. He looked at me and said he was busy. Body language and eye contact says a lot. -The interaction with my salesperson felt awkward and he also seemed less than engaged. He didn't ask very many questions or assess my needs. He did however want to sell me cars that I wasn't interested in, specifically the X1. He also wanted to take me to price points that were DOUBLE of what I was comfortable with financing me for the next 72 months. He would have known what I was comfortable with had he asked more questions. -I called to speak with the manager...hoping to provide some feedback and see if there was someone else I could work with. SALENE, the manager was more interested in debating my points than actually listening to them. It was like a game of tennis. After 3 rounds, I said goodbye. What a great brand. What a disappointment of an experience. BMW, I still love you. Perillo, I do not. You create an atmosphere that is apathetic, insensitive, & indifferent to this customer's needs. You seem more interested in your own. Maybe you want to sell more 5 & 7 series. Point received. I will take my dollars put aside for a 3 Series elsewhere. I bought a pre-owned BMW from Martin George. Martin was extremely helpful and is a very honest person. He also showed excellent customer service which I have never experienced at a car dealership before. He had everything set up for a smooth transaction, and even covered the costs of my rental car (I drove from Michigan to Illinois). Martin is worthy of any of my business and I would not hesitate to make the 4.5 hour trip to deal with him again if I have to! Thank you very much Martin! read more

OK. Let's start out with the good. I did purchase my vehicle here and they did agree to get me the best price. Additionally, since BMW pays the servicing and repairs for the first four years, they did take care of me for that time. However, once my car went off warranty, my servicing experience there has been a complete disaster. They will recommend services that are not really necessary and sometimes charge you double the closest BMW dealership for many of the services. One example is $250 to replace a $35 air filter. Since Perillo has a lock on the City of Chicago, the only thing you can really do is complain to BMW via their dealer survey. Interesting, the last two times I was serviced there, I have never been contacted by BMW for a survey. Lets go to a specific example of one of my issues. My service light went on and when Perillo did the key analysis, they recommended two services totaling $2K. They did not tell me specifically what was wrong just that I needed these two parts replaced and the total cost. I had them make one repair and the standard oil change for $1K and had them not make the gasket cover repair ($950). Since I was able to drive the car away, I took the car to another Bosch certified garage that came highly recommended from another BMW owner, and had them look the issue over. They advised there was nothing wrong with the gasket cover other than one of the screws that secures the gasket being cracked and that screw needed to be removed and replaced. Perillo decided to leave that detail out when the wanted to replace the entire part for $950. They should have given me the choice but made the election to again be greedy, which has now cost them a client. I ended up paying $106 to properly fix the same issue. $100 for labor and $6 for the replacement screw. It pains me to know how many issues Perillo has probably gauged me for since my car went off warranty. However, I have learned my lesson and will not be taking my car back there if I can help it. read more

Service Department normally decent, however, in recent recall they really dropped the ball. I called them three times to schedule an appointment. First time, they provided decent information. Second time - no call back. ThIrd time, they told me I should call back in a month as they were still waiting for parts needed to address the recall. A month? For a recall? I called the car company directly who called Perrillo. Perillo told them they are not doing the recall work. What?? Why couldn't Perrillo tell me that themselves? Why tell me they are waiting on parts? I will be looking for another Saab Service location. read more

I found my 3-series advertised online and inquired about the car via email. Connie was very prompt to respond to my email and I was scheduled for a test drive. When I arrived at the dealership, Connie and Sean immediately directed me to the exact car I inquired about...I REALLY appreciate they did NOT try to sell me on other vehicles!! I was very hesitant walking into Perillo after reading some of the reviews on here. However, I'm really happy I did. I was promptly greeted when I walked in by someone I'm assuming was like a host in a restaurant. I explained I was there to look at a car that I saw on the internet. He made a couple of calls and I was greeted by a guy named Sebastian within about 5 min. Sebastian brought me to the car I was interested in and started explaining all of the features as well as its history. Shortly after that we were on the road for a test drive. Sebastian was surprisingly informed about every little option and detail of the vehicle. He was great to work with. When we pulled back in to the dealer ship he asked if I had a trade in they could look at. I had just bought a 2010 VW CC a couple years prior and was thinking about selling it outright, but I figured I'd see what they would offer. When we sat down to negotiate numbers on the car, I was shocked at how easy it was to come to a fair arrangement. Sebastian was great the whole way through, never got aggressive (like some pushy sales guys) and helped me make the right decision on my trade as well as financing terms. While I was signing the paperwork in the finance office, Sebastian had all of my belonging moved into my new car. Once all of the paperwork was done, I was escorted to my new car. Sebastian again gave me a run though of a few options on the car that I didn't know about as well as BMW Apps. I was in and out of the dealership within about 3 hours, which I thought was really impressive considering I was asking a million questions. A couple of days after the purchase Sebastian called to see how I was liking the car and if I had any questions. It was really top notch service all the way around. I was extremely surprised to see all the negative reviews and comments about Perillo BMW. My boyfriend and I had a much more positive experience. We purchased a used BMW a few months ago. The dealership we purchased the car from changed the oil and topped off the fluids before we took the car; however, the low coolant light came on. We tried buying the fluid at a local parts store, but they were not able to tell us which fluid we should use. To be safe, we decided to take our BMW to Perillo to see if we could purchase some of the coolant from the Parts Dept. Parts was closed when we arrived so a salesperson told us to pull into the Service Area. A service coordinator told us to have a seat and within minutes we were ready to leave with the fluid topped off - at no charge! This week we came back to the Parts Dept to purchase another key and fob for the same BMW. Instead of just selling us the expensive key/fob combo, the salesperson in Parts asked why we needed the key/fob. Based upon our needs, he suggested a solution that saved us $200. I was quoted an exact amount for a simple wind shield replacement. A little under $1000 for parts and labor which is still overpriced for a windshild. I waste my time dropping off the car. Then i get a call from the service guy 2 hours later, he says its actually going to be $300 more than they quoted me. After 5 decades on the planet, I have a sense of what car dealerships are like, and Perillo is like no other. I bought a used '97 328i convertible a number of years ago, and as soon as I brought it in for servicing at Perillo (oil changes and various repairs) I was treated extraordinarily well. So when the time came to finally exchange my beloved red convertible for its 2010 incarnation, I naturally investigated Perillo's sales. Sean Dwyer was an absolute pleasure. In pricing, he bested all others. But the remarkable thing was that the sale was where the fun began. During my short wait for my custom made car, he was as present and dedicated as when we were negotiating, and truly shared in my excitement for my new mechanical marvel. This is the 9th car buying experience I've had over my life. I typically lease and get a new car every 3 years. It is the first time with BMW (had a number of Acura's). I live in the city so I visited Perillo and really not sure how BMW would represent their product and how expensive it would wind up being. Mark Schneider, one of the sales reps, introduced himself to me and it was a great experience from beginning to end. His level of professionalism, product knowledge, accomodating style, and low pressure sales approach made my experience exceptional. Like many, I'm a stickler with customer service and Mark was genuine. I told him what I was looking for (2015 X3 xdrive 2.8 x-line, almost fully loaded) and he had the car built for me. No money down. The car came in about a month later (as he promised) and I came in to test it out. It is a sweet vehicle (the technology is class leading) and the financing process and finance team was easy to work with. They did talk me into the bumper and ding protection package which, living in the city, is probably a good idea. It's been a few days now and I already received follow up communications to make sure everything is going well. It sounds like some folks had some bad experiences, but I really don't have anything I would suggest in terms of improvements. I will see how their service department in about 10,000 miles when I'm due. I definitly recommend Mark to help you shop for your new BMW...it really is all about the people you work with and he was great. read more

I had a very positive experience buying with Vanessa, I had dealt with a couple of other guys there who were not always responsive and not getting me the cars I wanted to see.( A lot of cars are on the website but not on site at the dealership so they have to bring them on the lot for you.) But once I got connected to Vanessa I was able to see the car I was after, she really made it happen. I think it had just been traded in the same day. She was a total rock star and class act all the way. She was also very responsive with all of my follow up needs. I am a salesperson myself and I don't appreciate dealers who mess around. We just moved from an Audi A4 to a BMW 4 series. We had shopped several brands and dealerships, and ended up working with Rick at Perillo. He was patient and helpful, and ended up finding us a car with exactly what we wanted, and at a good price. The cash coming back on our trade in seemed to take longer than they initially predicted, but this was likely secondary to our bank being slow, and when everything was set up, they ended up overnighting the check, which was a very nice gesture. We strive to deliver a great Customer experience whether you are purchasing a vehicle or servicing your BMW with us. Although you may think otherwise that in fact is our ultimate goal. We are a family owned business and have been in business for over 30 years. I think what makes us unique is that not only are we family owned we are family operated. I can tell you first hand that the Perillo family cares about there clients. In fact ownership is very involved with the daily operation while that is a rare find these days. ownership chooses to be here because this has been there passion for many years. I understand that you brought your vehicle to your neighborhood BMW Center and I am sure that they are very capable of repairing your BMW. I will say that you have to be careful when visiting some of these Centers as they tend to like throwing other Centers under the bus (especially when you didn't buy from them). I am not saying that this is the case, however, it concerns me that in your review you use words like "significant oil leak" "Obvious that the car had been leaking for some time". This concerns me because I was able to look up the Technician notes from the dealer who worked on your transmission leak. The technician mentions in his words ,not mine, what he describes as a minor leak. The technician did not have to replace a part at this time he simply cleaned the area in question and sprayed a special powder to help pin point where the minor leak was coming from. The technician then applied lock tight to the bolt threads in hopes of preventing any seepage . Unless the dealer completed a repair at a later date and has yet to make a claim with BMW N.A this is what is coming up on our end. Hence, why I am concerned that you may have been told an exaggerated story in regards to your transmission leak. Which in turn made you question your purchase with us. In regards to your wheels possibly being refinished. I must inform you per BMW's CPO guidelines we can CPO a vehicle that has refinished wheels as long as there is no structural damage. We followed BMW's CPO inspection process with your vehicle as we do for every vehicle that we certify. With all do respect if you are looking for everything to be brand new on your vehicle, you should consider purchasing a New Vehicle. We certainly do not want to end our relationship because of this. If you'd like to come in or email us pictures of the wheels that are in question we would be happy to take a look. -- Trish, -Thanks for having a Service Advisor pull my vehicle's service history; I also have a copy of the record. When having the burning smell checked I was approached by the Service Advisor who stated the vehicle had a significant transmission leak, that the undercharge pan was saturated and that I could not drive the vehicle until it was repaired. What concerns me is that instead of trying to understand how the vehicle was never inspected properly, be it a small or significant leak of any kind, your dealership again has chosen to discredit my claims in an attempt invalidate my review, just as you have done with every negative review here on yelp. I would strongly recommend taking the high road and attempt to provide customer service to your customers, rather than slamming the door on them. -The wheels had structural damage and were spray painted. They were not refinished by any standards that would be deemed acceptable by the CPO program. Unfortunately, Perillo is not required to adhere to said guidelines, which effectively makes the CPO program nothing more than an overpriced OEM extended warranty. -"With all do respect if you are looking for everything to be brand new on your vehicle, you should consider purchasing a New Vehicle." --Trish P. Per BMW's CPO Website: "They must pass an extensive examination and a thorough and rigorous inspection by BMW factory-trained technicians. They inspect the vehicle for safety, performance and wear. Things that come to mind when thinking about Perillo's adherence to whats to be an "extensive examination and thorough and rigorous inspection" -Transmission Leak: Not inspected of fixed -Wheels: Spray Painted with underlying damage, not "rigorously inspected" -Front and Read Bumpers: have not complained about this as I bought the vehicle knowing about paint damage but lets be real, never would have passed CPO inspection at a reputable dealership. And with this, thank you Trish for validating the main point of Perillo's exploitation of the CPO process. Upon moving to Chicago, I was told to never take my car to Perillo for service. I assumed that ordering parts was safe. I placed my order in person to make sure that the correct part was ordered (a sunroof switch cover and hood cowls). After several weeks of waiting for the call to let me know that the parts had arrived, I called. After a long hold, I was told that my parts were there. When I made the trek (parking is horrible for customers!), they couldn't find my order. The hood cowls had not been ordered; they did have a burglar alarm cover for me though. So, a 3 part order resulted in 1 inaccurate part. To make it worse, I didn't receive so much as an apology and had to pre-pay for the parts to be reordered. The cashiers were too busy posing like models and looking coolly busy. ugh!!!! ridiculously horrible customer service!!!! read more

Do not use salesperson Ken Reffsin unless you are looking for a rude experience. I bought a car from Ken and thought my experience was terrible, but chose to not say anything. On April 17th I visited the dealership with a good friend of mine and ended up with Ken again. The experience was worse than ever. He told my friend very snidely, after my friend made an offer that Ken did not like, that "maybe this car is not for him". Ken then said he had another car for him to look at and would call him that day when he could see it. Ken did not have the professionalism or courteousness to call him. The friend left and bought an X3 two days later at Fields BMW and was treated great. Perhaps if Ken would have spent less time passing judgment and acting superior he might have sold a car. I might use Perillo again, but I certainly would never use Ken. read more

AWEFUL customer service! I took my car in on a saturday morning. I was told they weren't sure if it had to stay overnight for workup but that they would call me so I could make future plans. They never called, despite me leaving a voicemail before closing time. They're closed sunday, so I called Monday. Left a couple voicemails with my service guy and the service manager to see what was up with my car. I received no callbacks until Tuesday morning where my service guy (Mario) said they had to keep my car for a certain part and that he was out of the office today so I couldn't get into contact with him. He also informed me the part would be in Wednesday and I could get my car then. I received no call Wednesday. So I left a very frustrated voicemail on Wednesday with no call back until late Thursday afternoon. Mario never addressed my concerns about the lack of customer service even after I confronted him with it. He vaguely apologized, saying that they were very busy there. He acted like he had no idea he was in the service business. I have taken my car there about 5 times, and 3/5x I had a similar experience. The other two times were only one day services so it was less complicated for them. I will never go back to this dealership, I would rather drive 1.5 hours out of the city to Knauz to get my car serviced/buy another BMW. read more

I don't have any strength left and it makes my blood pressure up when I try to think about what they put me thru. Believe me I am not easily stressed about things. So I'll just say this briefly. If you end up doing business with them you will be left with half fixed car with recycled old parts and wasted money and tons and tons of time. No one will ever call you to update you on things. I purchased a CPO BMW from Perillo in March. The inherent excitement for a new-to-me vehicle was tempered by some elements of the vehicle not meeting expectation and leaving me frustrated. That said, when I voiced my concerns, I was blown away by the desire to make it right for me. I am an out-of-state buyer, so taking care of these things was an obvious logistical challenge. The Perillo team brought forth creativity and flexibility to ensure my issues were addressed and that my overall experience was positive. I called Perillo BMW because I was looking for info on a Airbag recall on my BMW X3. The rep asked me the vin number to find any info in regards to the issue; after waiting for a moment the rep told me there were no recalls on the X3. I told the rep I was having issues with my passenger airbag, and since I have read about the issue on the government recalls page I was looking for help......well....all I got was...."Sorry but there are not recalls on your X3".....and that was it...... Right after I called Elmhurst BMW, and from the beginning the rep was amazing not only trying the find the most info about the issue but also about offering different options for to have my car checked up. He was able to explain that there were no recalls but since BMW had extended the warranty on the passnger airbag I had the option to bring the car in for service. Right after I was immediately asked if I wanted to take my car in and if so when.......Again what a huge difference on the quality of service from Perillo to Elmhurst. read more

This place is just horrible. I stopped in the Friday before Christmas and there was no one there to help me. I then requested additional information via Truecar and again no follow up. I followed up with Perillo and then they had a rather unresponsive saleman reach out to me. I set up some time to go meet with him, we went for a test drive and I indicated what I wanted in the car, which they did not have in stock. He said he would locate one or we could discuss ordering. I followed up a few times via email over the last 3 weeks and nothing from Perillo. I live 2 blocks away from this dealership, but ended up purchasing my car at Laurel BMW in Westmont given the Perillo just did not want to sell me a car. I don't get it, extremely poor customer service, stay away. I have heard such bad things about their service department as well, my doctor bought a car here and told me that everything on yelp is true about the service department, based on his own experience. read more

Drove for almost an hour to get to the Gold Coast Perillo BMW location after emailing my interest in a specific vehicle and setting up an appointment. Met a sales person, test drove the vehicle, kick the tires, everything you do before buying. When we were going to buy the car, we were told the automobile had been sold early that morning with wired funds. We wasted nearly 5 hours of our time, driving to and from the dealership and time spent with the sales rep to hear that someone forgot to tell any one who would listen that the car had been sold. Manager was nonchalant about it and basically told the salesman, it is what it is. She had the file on her desk and couldn't tell the salesman, who's desk was across hers, that the car we were test driving was sold. There was no remorse, no trying to make things right. Never again going to any Perillo automobile dealerships. Especially avoid Perillo BMW. read more

My overall experience with Perillo BMW was simply awful - although I understand that my experience is not uncommon among Perillo customers, so perhaps my expectation for fair service was out of line from the onset. While the entire saga of my experience would fill a small novel, here's a "taste" of what went wrong during my latest Perillo visit: 1) The service representative (Chris) initially "forgot" that my car was under a certified pre-owned warranty, and called my wife instead of me (I asked the service rep to call me and left my cell phone number as my wife refuses to deal with Perillo after her previous encounter where Perillo tried to double charge her for an oil change) to tell her about the costs to repair the vehicle. 2) Once reminded that my car was in fact under a CPO warranty, then an engine intake part was deemed to be outside of the CPO warranty. 3) Calls to three other BMW dealerships all indicated that this part was covered under a CPO warranty, yet this didn't persuade Perillo. 4) Calls to BMW North America customer service resulted in them calling Perillo and leaving a message with the service manager, but this also didn't persuade Perillo. 5) It took roughly 8 separate conversations with the service representative to convince him to let me speak with someone at Perillo that is empowered to make any sort of decision. 6) Upon finally receiving a call back from the service manager (Israel), he acknowledged the problem/issue and offered a discount for the out-of-warranty part such that the out-the-door and all-in price would be $170. 7) After 5 days of this back-and-forth, I called again on the day my car was supposed to be ready (you always have to call Perillo to get a status update), I was told that my car was ready to be picked up. I asked to just confirm that my total invoice was going to be $170 as agreed upon by Israel, at which point I got "Oh, I need to call you back". After another few hours, I received a call back and said that the total price was going to be $220 (layering on the $50 deductible). When I explained that the service manager committed to an all-in and out-the-door cost of $170, Chris indicated that Israel meant this amount plus the deductible. 8) After discussing the technical merits and definitions of the phrases "all-in" and "out-the-door", Chris called Israel, then called me back, and said the best they could do was $200. In other words, the best they could do was $30 more than what the service manager offered me and what I used as my basis for authorizing the work. I realize $30 isn't a significant amount of money, but when I asked Chris if $30 was really worth upsetting a customer for life, he just repeated "$200 is the best we can do, or we can take the part off the car". There are plenty of other frustrations that I had along the way with Perillo, but hopefully this at least gives you a sense for my complete dissatisfaction. After a total of roughly two dozen calls from inception of the service request to when I picked the car up, I am left with the general notion that Perillo is a dishonest organization to work with, horribly unorganized, doesn't honor their commitments, and won't admit mistakes on their part (even when their mistakes are blatantly and overtly obvious). read more

I would give ZERO stars if they would let me do it ...this dealer it's a BIG JOKE ...i bought used 3series and the experience and service was horrible ...turned out to be a lemon car ... they didn't care or try to help me ...the manager (Chris ) was useful , worst as possible ...don't buy cars from this place !!!!shame on you Perillo!!!!!!!!!! read more

Here is my story. I have 08 650i. My breaks were kind bad. When I am driving, it's shaking only if I am breaking... So I went to here last year. First time, they told me I have to replace the front breaks. Which is I did, I spent $1200, but the same problem couldn't disappear. Then, after three month. I went to there again. There was coolant light on. This time, they told me the vibration because I have to replace the real breaks, and my wheels have to repair. The coolant light is because something wrong I could not remember. It cost $400 to fix coolant problem. $500 for the repairing wheels. Another 1000 for the breaks. Total was close $2000 plus the first time. It's over $3000. When I picked up the car. I couldn't feel any Vibration. But after a week .. It's getting shake again. I really don't know what is really problem on that breaks. Then I went to Champaign Bmw dealership.. They told me the same thing. Front breaks are bad now. But I have only used it for two months. They replace the breaks for free. But again, some problem after a couple weeks.. And they told me I have to go back the original dealership for the vibration. I drive my car not that crazy.. But I don't know why I spent money, the car can't be fixed. Coolant light appeared after three months. Then some people told me just buy the coolant liquid. It's like 10 dollars. I added some, the lights was off. But I did spent 400 for that coolant lights.. I really don't know what they have done with my car.. Two problems , over $3000. Can not be fixed. I live four hours away form Chicago. And I am foreigner. Just because I thought bigger dealership is better than the local business. Now, I don't know what I can do... read more

I purchased my second BMW yesterday at Perillo. My salesperson, Jim Demeter, could not have been more friendly and professional. Usually the car buying experience is tedious at best but all my experiences here have been met with respect and professionalism. Also Sebastian Zielinski and Alex Lebdeh helped with structuring a great deal for me. And the best part, I left with my new car and I still had the rest of the day to enjoy it. read more
