Put simply: this is some of the best bbq I've had in quite some time…read more This little stand is located in Laytonsville at the Pleasant Valley produce stand. It is made up of a few pop up tents. I came up and asked if they sold meat by the pound, and they don't... well at least without notice. The older gentleman informed me that if I did want to buy meat by the pound I'd just have to give him 72 hours notice (optimally) so that he could prepare for it. He was really kind and introduced himself and the younger gentleman at the booth and gave me his card so I would have his info incase I wanted to put in an order in the future. I decided to just go with the BBQ smoked chicken leg quarter meal. $13.50 - very reasonable price. The meal came with a nice size smoked leg quarter and a small side of coleslaw and a small side of macaroni and cheese. FIrst off, I tasted the coleslaw when I got home and was like.... OK queen! It was delicious. But I did a bit of cooking before I decided to dig into the rest, so I will admit that I got to eating the chicken leg and the macaroni and cheese about an hour or so after I bought it. AND even with that delay on time it was EASILY 5 stars. The meat was super tender, wonderfully smokey but not overwhelming, and the macaroni and cheese... well... dang. I mean... even cold it was some of the best macaroni and cheese I've eaten in some time. This place is such a sleeper. Just a little popup right next to a produce stand. But if this meal is to judge them by, I literally can't wait to go there and order more. It's on my way to my pottery class at Something Earthy in Laytonsville, so I pass it usually once a week. Well, correction: I USED to pass it once a week. Now I likely will be stopping there once a week lol.

I'm so happy I did because if I could describe the overall taste and quality, it's "the cousin who cooks family dinner with the flavor of our Auntie's, but the technique and health-consciousness of a well trained chef" kind of deal lol. Everything was so delicious! I had the green beans , mashed potato, candied yams, and jerk lamb meatloaf. So you're aware, the food is made to order so it's perfect when you're planning ahead for lunch or dinner. They also deliver! (Ask for details dep. on your area). The chef was so, so nice! It's an honor to support her business! All of the vegetables tasted like they were farm-fresh--nothing was frozen! The green beans were expertly cooked with fresh tomatoes, mushrooms, and onions. The best green beans ever! I would love to get these again! The mashed potatoes were so creamy and the yams were nice and sweet, but not too, too sweet. They were perfectly balanced and had the best texture! The meatloaf was made with all of the love in the world! Now, since it has lamb, the flavor is very, very prominent. I'm not really a big meat person but this was a cool touch, and I'll try anything once! If you're a huge fan of lamb, I recommend it. I loved how there was gravy at the bottom and the traditional tomato based topping on top! I shared with my brother when he came to visit, he tore it all up! Lol. I would definitely order from Auntie's again. I saw that a friend follows the chef on social media and she absolutely loves Auntie's, too! Shame on me for putting this delicious food on a paper plate, but last night I had come home from dance class and had to eat immediately lol.

If…read moreyou're on the hunt for a great Smashed burger in Gaithersburg, look no further than Steeze Burger! What started as a pop-up by Hunter Karametos has now flourished into a brick-and-mortar, and it feels like Steeze Burger is just getting started. The concept is simple: burger, cheese, sauce, fries. But Steeze's take on it is what makes it special. The beef is local and specially curated by the owner, the signature Steeze sauce is unlike anything else, and even the fries feel thoughtfully chosen. Nothing is overcomplicated. It's just a simple concept done really well. The whole place has a super grassroots, super MoCo feel. Hunter's love of skateboarding is woven into the personality of the shop, from the skateboards on the walls to the logo and overall vibe. It may technically be a fast-food joint, but it definitely feels like an experience. We love supporting a family-owned business, especially one with such an interesting story behind it. They also keep things fun with frequent specials and creative menu additions while staying true to the simple burger-shop concept, which I love. Great food, great story, great local energy. Highly recommend Steeze Burger. Check us out at @flavors.club on instagram to get better highlights on this dine-in experience.
