2024 came to the them, I had a 1975 Land Cruiser BJ40 full restoration, diesel engine, imported from Costa Rica. Invest on the car more than $47 k. I talked to them about trading with 1965 mustang convertible Window price was $33 k. got the deal I took the mustang home And $5 k check. The car was nice, I found issues and replace with new parts. As we know old cars always got details. that's what I expect No problem. Came back to them several months later and they told me that it was a lot of people interested on the Land Cruiser but they turned it down because it was a diesel engine. At the end, they told me they sold it but they lost money. I was confuse because I put a lot of money In to it. the could sell it for more. couple months went back to them for AC, oil change and other minor repairs on the Mustang. From $3 k estimate got me for $8k charge. A oil change and spar plugs cost me more than $580. Felt like they were trying to get their money back for the loss of the Land Cruiser. I didn't complaint, I found parts painted different colors, rusty parts, different hardware not original, supposed to be new carpet It was old and stain, Door handles ripped and broken, Ripped seats, water leaks, air come through on the freeway while you're driving, dash cover ripped and painted different color and many more Issues. It does start quickly and drives well. A few minor items are being repaired by Chip's professional mechanics. I also am an avid Classic car collector. I had a good buying experience in the buying process. Very supportive. I had the inspected by the recommend inspector. He seemed to do a good job. He discovered a bad rear end. I told Chip I would not buy the car unless he fixed it or replaced it. He said he did. Well if he did he did it with a rear bad rear end. When I go the car it wined and fluid was full of water. So the oil looked like chocolate milk. The next issue was the leaking transmission the trucker that deliver the car said he had to clean the car below daily so much transmission fluid leaked out. So I called to discuss the two issues. I was told the car was a good deal and these types of thing happen to old cars and they would do nothing So now thousands of dollars later I have a new rear end and a new transmission There were numerous other issues those come from and older car. On the surface these cars look good for the price. The cars are dolled up. BUT buyer beware . These car will cost you a lot of your money. When you buy a classic car they do require TLC. I just feel this dealer is pulling the wool over people's eyes I totally disagree with the other Yelp review when you buy a car issues with the car should be disclosed not hidden. Car buying process went great, everyone was nice, attentive and seemed knowledgeable. After getting the car home and putting it on a lift to take a look in greater depth, we found problems after problems. Power steering was held on by a single bolt, engine was supposed to be "completely rebuilt" but there was a blown head gasket. Mind you, we only drove this car less than a 100 miles before coming across all of this. Luckily we got it home on a trailer and didn't drive or we probably wouldn't have made it home with how far away we lived! Wouldn't trust the shop to fix and make up for it. read more

OK this is going to be my review of my recent buying experience from Performance Mustangs and my quick philosophy on classic cars in general. All in all it was a very pleasant buying experience, and I normally hate buying cars from dealers. I inquired about my car via a third party internet listing, and Chip called me back very shortly. I live out of town about 8 hours from Houston, and I had some scheduling issues to overcome before I could come down to look at the car. Chip assured me that if I told him the next day that I would definitely be driving down to Houston *the following day*, that he would hold the car for me. Basically he was telling me that he would hold the car as long as I promised him that I was coming from out of state to look at the car in two days. Sure enough, when I arrived two days later at about 10:30am there was another guy loitering near the car. This person told me that he was wanting to buy the car but that the owner told him that he had to wait until some other guy [me] came to look at it first. This guy waited around while I looked the car over and test drove it. This took me about an hour, and once I returned I told the guy that I was buying it, so he finally left. This experience alone told me that Chip was a man of his word. Now to the cars. Cars from the 1960's are half a century old. If you are buying any classic car from the 1960's, you are BUYING A HOBBY. I am writing this in 2017. It was common for most of these cars to have some rust, and to be approaching their first engine rebuild in *1987*. I remember; I was there. Many of these will be on their second or even third engine rebuild by now. If you think that it is a good idea to buy a 1960's car and to do any of the following things with it, you are most likely sorely mistaken and in the wrong: ..use it as your only mode of transportation to get you to and from work. ..use it as a daily driver because you have no other transportation. ..park it outside all year long because you have no garage space to store it. ..plan to pay someone else to fix every single thing that will need repaired in the future. ..plan to pay someone else to do the maintenance requirements. However, if you understand that owning a classic car is a journey, if you understand that many modern computer chipped and moduled cars will become glitchy beyond affordability in the future, and if you like tinkering on old things, then you will probably love/love/love owning a classic car. What Chip and Caren provide is a very good rotating selection of 1960s Mustangs (and a few other cars). All of these cars will need tender loving care. But are they badass and cool? Yes. These cars come from all over and many are brought in and sold or traded by previous private owners, and will thus have some things that need to be done with them. Chip's shop fixes many things on the cars, but sometimes he leaves them less than completely restored so that they will be affordable to those of us in the working class. These cars are becoming more rare and are not cheap any more. If you are paying less than $30,000 then expect there to be a few things that need to be done to any classic car. Chip provided good service to me and did not sell the car out from under me even though he could have. Another guy wanted to buy the car, and Chip did not ecourage the other guy and me to get into a bidding war with each other. He just told the other guy that a previous person who first called, had first dibbs. When I asked Chip to take care of a couple of electrical issues before delivering the car, he did. The delivery process was lightning fast (though car shipping services can take several days). Ed from Hyden Motors in Indiana transported my Mustang to my house, and I cannot say enough good things about him. I basically had the car withing 36 hours of Chip cashing my check, and I live in another state. Chip and Caren were very prompt in keeping me in the loop during the delivery process. I have already tinkered a bit with my new classic, but I would have it no other way. I paid $18k for my 1966 Mustang, and I would much rather own this than pay twice the price for a modern ultra-reliable Asian import with less than half the character and no soul. (An Asian import and a Jeep Rubicon are my daily drivers, hah.) I would definitely buy again from Performance Mustangs. read more
