I had a new set of tires installed on Saturday and wanted to get an alignment done but most of the auto mechanic shops were closed the next day. Performance Auto Care was the only shop that was open on Sunday. The guy at the front desk was nice and helpful. The technician who did the alignment was professional. My only issue was that I was charged an extra $115 for the removal of my after market strut bar and stock strut brace, both of which I can remove myself in less than 3 minutes. Overall great customer service but the extra charge was a bit much. read more

Wow! An incredibly reliable shop with zero hidden or costly agenda. I brought in my 71 Chevelle for some emergency suspension care after a long cross country journey. Every shop in North county was booked for 3-6 months, but Sammy and his team were welcoming despite their own line of pending jobs. They gave my sexy chev a place to crash (with security) and through the entire process it was friendly, responsive and transparent; trifecta that is hard to find in most shops. Can I give these guys over 5 stars? I was about to go on a solo road trip to Colorado with my two young girls, to meet their new cousin. The night before (Friday night) and my check engine light goes on, blinking.... and my acceleration was jolting....... Did I mention it's the Friday night before we are supposed to go on our HIGHLY anticipated vacation, which we've counted the days down to and saved up for. My 6 and 8 year old girls are looking at me with pleading eyes, asking me when we are going to leave. Oh gosh. We have a talk about how sometimes things don't go as we expect and we may have to change plans. First world problems. But, still, we say a prayer. I explain that usually auto repair shops aren't open on weekends, but we'll see what we can do. Surprisingly, I see that Performance Auto Care is open Saturday and Sunday and they have really good reviews, all 5 stars on google. Tony answers the phone, he says to drop the car off (this is Saturday at 8am) and they'll see if they can fit it in. He said worst case scenario, they'll get to it Sunday morning and that they CAN often get parts on Sunday (because I did ask that). He didn't promise anything, except that they'd do the best they could. I appreciated the honesty. I called another place that made me promises that sounded suspect, considering they weren't even open on Sunday, so I went here instead. Tony told me to ask for him, when I called on the phone. All businesses should do this, it immediately makes the customer feel cared for. Tony gives off an aura of trust. He tells me to call back in 2 hours, but surprisingly he calls me before the time he quoted. My car is a honda. It's spark plugs, which I suspected. It needs a specific part (which they can get in 30 min). It's more expensive than usual (I know this to be true as I've had honda's my entire life) and it didn't set off any red flags. He was honest about the risks of continuing to drive on it (didn't't make it sound scarier than it was), but did say it could lead to much more expensive problems, which aligns with everything I had read online. Again, I appreciate someone who doesn't try to make something sound worse, just to get the sale. He gave me the facts with no drama, based on that I was able to make a good decision. He says he can get it done in 3 or 4 hours. He calls back at 12:30pm (I dropped it off at 8:30am with no appointment) and it's done. Again, before he initially quoted me. This may have been a light day for them. But, the service I received couldn't have been better. He knew we were going on a road trip and checked everything else out (amazingly didn't find anything - we all know that some places ALWAYS find something), he checked my tires and threw in an oil change for free. Seriously!!! I could cry. I think our prayer worked. I was able to tell my girls that we can still to go on our trip after all and now we know our car is in even safer condition. It doesn't always work out that way, but had we gone to another mechanic, the chances that we would have needed to delay our trip to at least Monday, maybe Tuesday. And based off of everything I read and that they included, the rate sounded very fare. Highly recommend and will always go back! read more

*****Update***** Not Good News I took my SUV in for a routine oil change and to get my wiper pump looked at because fluid wasn't coming out. I dealt with Tony directly. He was able to get me in and all was going normal until I received his call. He called me and said my Kia was ready and I asked him what they found out with the wiper pump/issue. He said he had forgotten to ask his guys about it and he would call me back after they looked at it. Now, keep this in mind, i showed my cards to Tony and told him that the car had an extended warranty so I could get the pump replaced free of charge if that was the cause, but I wanted to see if it was just clogged because the car isn't that old (2014) I have no issue with making mistakes, we're all human. So I'm patiently waiting a couple hours to hear from Tony and he eventually calls me back and says "Hey your car is all ready" and this leads me to believe that the problem has either been resolved or discovered. I arrive and pick up my vehicle and I said, "So what happened with the wiper fluid not coming out?" And he looked at me perplexed and said, "Ugh.... oh my guys said they think it's the pump that's broken and it needs to be replaced" followed by "We tried to unclog it but it was fine, it's the pump." So here I am a little discouraged because no I have to setup an appointment with CarMax to get my pump replaced for my wiper fluid. It's more so just a pain but I was happy to find the issue. Well, fast forward to two weeks later at CarMax and they said they looked at the car and within 5 minutes saw a little clog in the line and cleared it out. The pump didn't need to be replaced because the car isn't even 4 years old. The problem here is that this shops integrity is now compromised and when that happens I can't trust them anymore with my car because this thing is my lifeline on the road. What happens if it were my brakes that needed replacing and they lied to me? The principal of the matter is the biggest issue here and I will never be returning to get work done here with compromised moral integrity. Please learn from my experience and steer clear. ____________________________________________________________ Review Update: I dropped my wife's truck off here and because we had suspicions of the starter being bad as the car wouldn't turn over. Well, I clearly know very little about cars so I brought it to Performance. Right away Tony knew it was the fuel pump and the fuel line. What blew me away was that he was able to do it so quickly and efficiently in just one business day. He called me and said it was going to be "x" dollars for the pump and the line would be an additional "x". The great thing though is that Tony recognized takes his customers feedback seriously and knew I took care of him here on yelp. So he upped the ante and comped the fuel line. Well, hats off to tony and crew for A+ Work and Service on my wife's truck. One of the worst experiences I've ever had with a mechanic. Please beware of this company they do not do good honest business. Very dishonest, unprofessional, and rude staff and management. Truly cannot warn anyone enough to stay away from this mechanic. I paid them over $4000 and they did NOTHING with my only car for 2 months. The only way I was able to refund my money was through a credit card dispute. I brought them a truck to complete a full engine replacement on in November 2021. They told me the parts would be ordered immediately upon my deposit of $4000+ and the job would take 4-6 weeks to complete. After 7 weeks they tell me it will take another 4-6 weeks because they had not ordered the part yet. I immediately had my car towed away from them and taken to a different mechanic which finished the same exact job, using the same exact suppliers in less than 2 weeks. They would not refund me so I had to file a claim with my credit card company which we did end up winning. Not only did they not meet their turnaround time they did not even order the parts for the repair and lied to me several times about the status of the job and claimed the part was getting delayed. They never returned my calls, not even once. I had to call them every time just to get false updates on my truck until I cancelled the work with them. After weeks of me having no car to use, they provided me with a filthy loaner car for a week with 200k miles on it which overheated immediately because they did not check the fluids and had zero coolant in it. Even after the 'head mechanic' Tony said he had checked it all over and it was in good working condition. They had to come and tow the car away and did not even offer me a replacement loaner car after that. They couldn't even keep their own cars in working condition. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else, you'd be better off with a YouTube video than trusting these guys with your car. Beware of this mechanic the reviews are misleading. Second time here. First time Tony helped me with my Honda, he replaced my powersterring pump and a tube attached to it. Its been 3 months since and i havent had any problem. Today I needed an oil chance and Tony gave me a 10 dollar discount for being a returning customer! They also checked my car and found out I will need new rotors but did not push me for a sale. Instead he asked me to check if they're still under warranty from the place I bought them from and if not I can come back and get them done here. Honest, Trustworthy, and Friendly After price checking 3 other shops for rack and pinion replacement I called Tony and he gave me a price that beat the other shop by almost $500. Come to find out replacing the rack and pinion is a 5-7hr not a 2.5hr job is what Tony quoted me for, I think the estimating software had a glitch that I hope Tony can figure out for his sake, not ours... Despite the software mistake Tony charged me the original price on the quote and said "I can only charge you for what I quoted you" Tony is extremely honest and it won't be the last time I bring my car the Performance Auto Care. The staff were really nice and helpful, especially Tony! Tony really helped me out and even showed me a picture of a nest (rat or bird?) that was under my hood. He was GREAT! Thanks Tony! My car overheated on the freeway on a Friday afternoon and the tow company referred this auto repair shop, which was about 2 miles from where I broke down. I found the prices to be very high, I spent over $1400 to replace a thermostat and sensors. Labor cost $895 and parts cost $495 plus taxes. Engine coolant/antifreeze, alone, cost over $62. I was hoping to get my car back the next day but because of the lithium battery company fire, I was told the parts delivery couldn't be made so I didn't get my car back back for 2 days (thank goodness this shop is open Saturdays and Sundays!) I took my car to the dealership a few days later for an oil change and other repairs, not related to the thermostat change, were needed so I spent an additional $1400+. Tony told me the warranty for the work that was done is 24 months or 24000 miles but the receipt show 24 months or 24 miles! I didn't notice this until just now as I'm writing this review. I'll have to call tomorrow to confirm. My car hasn't overheated since the repairs but it's only been less than a week since the repairs and the weather has cooled off considerably. Hopefully, the repairs will last the full warranty period. read more

I hate taking my car in for small, routine items like an oil change. Why do I hate it? Because halfway through the service I hear the dreaded, "Miss, can I talk to you about your car for a minute?" and then they tell me about some problem they've discovered and how I really should have that fixed while they have my car up on the rack. So I end up either paying $200 for what was supposed to be just an oil change, or spend the next six months wondering whether my car really does have a problem that I need to address before it explodes in a ball of fire on the freeway. Today I went to PAC for an oil change and smog check. I dropped in without an appointment at a very busy time - my bad - and as a result spent a long time waiting around their office. I observed many other customers coming and going and what stood out to me was that nobody got the, "Can I talk to you about your car?" treatment. Not over the phone, not in person. It seemed to me that everybody just got the service they asked for. It's sad that I should be impressed by something as simple as that, but honest service is hard to find, especially as a female customer, so I will definitely be back to this shop. read more

I had probably one of the longest days where things were not going smooth. I filled my tank next door at the Shell/car wash and my battery completely died. Of course luck would have it that I left the house without my phone so I went inside shell, they wouldn't let me use their phone (not their problem) so they directed me to PAC where SAM went out of his way to help me. He gave me a jumó, tested my battery, went over the cost and value of batteries. Unfortunately they didn't have what I needed but SAM called someone next door and they came and walked me over. The price seemed a bit high. I went back to SAM. He called down the street verified they had the battery, it was a great price plus only$10 compared to the earlier labor charge of $100. SAM gave them my name and gave me another jump and sent me on my way. Thank you Sam for being kind and for helping me. It takes a community and you made me feel apart of it. My friend Carter referred me to this place he is a Tow truck driver I thought he would know where to go because he had a mini Cooper I thought the problem was the water pump so I called to get a quote on that their price was $750 everywhere else was $850 and above there were 3 places that said they didn't want to do it even after they told me they worked on mini's? I guess the water pump is hard to get to, so I was happy to hear $750 and brought it in I spoke to Sammy & told him that I was the one who thought it was the water pump so they needed to check it out. He called me back and told me it was a hose and a bad radiator cap that was a great phone call they could have really taken advantage of this situation instead they were totally honest and did the right thing. I have been dealing with a torn underbody protection cover that occurred after a cement parking stopper ripped it and an ultra high speed bump took it inches from the ground. The dragging sound was so embarrassing this morning after I went over a speed bump that I finally couldn't take it any more. I found this team on Yelp and it was one of my best finds of the year.
