Michael provided a much more reasonable quote, but what amazed me was after I arrived, he opened the hood to show me what was happening. It turns out the expensive removal and replacement wasn't needed. Michael is an honest mechanic. Sometimes as a woman, you're never 100% sure the auto shop is being fair when it comes to pricey repairs, especially when you're driving a reliable car. I would give them 10-stars if possible! I have to admit I was a little nervous about the service when I explained to him that Midas had told me that I did need to replace my front brake pads and he told me he didn't even know who Midas was. He did the service in a reasonable time about an hour just like he told me. and the price was right. so far the brakes are working pretty good.

Let me not bore with the mundane details, just know: -they took good care of the car, addressing every item on my list. -Frank, the service manager, took the time to discuss the list of repairs with me and explained what they would do-to make sure we were on the same page with everything. He listens! In fact, when he received the list (which I'd emailed ahead of time) he immediately spotted a safety issue and reached out to me to get it addressed promptly. -they finished the work AHEAD of the promised completion time -took the trouble to score parts at a lower price than quoted (and passed on the savings!) -provided a detailed completed work order with information I about my vehicle that I found valuable. There are literally over a hundred options in Escondido to get your cae serviced. I've been to quite a few of them over the years. Performance Auto Care & Tune Up is my favorite! The manager Tony is a super nice guy....and has never tried to sell me or my wife on any product or service we dont need. Their maintenence is quality! The pricing is very reasonable, and it has been my experience that they reward repeat business. Because of all these reasons, they are my first choice when it comes to servicing all three of my vehicles including my F350 Diesel. The store is clean, bathroom is clean, and always has a Keurig with k-cups ready. The best part is that they bend over backwards to accommodate people with busy schedules. Still, I'd call ahead for an appointment because they are popular and thus - busy. They offer a grest range of services and if you happen to require a car service that will take a bit to get done, Lourdes Mexican Food is right next door in the Shell station and you can get some quality grubbing on while you wait. read more

Mechanics are professional and skilled, and FRIENDLY and HELPFUL! My car suddenly had some unknown engine issues when I was driving back to Los Angeles. I was told it might take at least two hours for the diagnosis. Concerned, scared of being in somewhere I don't even know, I became really anxious, keeping asking mechanics what should I do. They comforted me to have a sit, and had a professional check my car real quick. I only waited for around 30 minutes in total then they told me that I was good to go. Problem fixed and I could make my way back to L.A.! Isn't it magic? Oh, they also explained how to maintain the car and everything else to me. I stumbled on this Auto shop about a year and a half ago. They are next to the Shell station. I figured what ever they were going to charge was going to be cheaper then a tow to the guy I was using at the time. There I met Sammy and was given better prices. They have never over charged me or tried to get me to have work done that wasn't really needed. They have been fair honest and told me if the work is needed right then or if I have a little wiggle room in when stuff got done. I suggest calling ahead of time and making an appointment to get your car in. I think word has gotten out about how good these guys are. Oh don't forget they Warrenty their work for two years or 24,000 miles on most things they do. read more

I brought my car here because it broke down on me on the freeway. Not knowing what the real issue behind it was, Tony and his team were quick to find out the problems. Unfortunately for me they were costly issues the car had (engine problems), but Tony was able to reassure me that he would get me the best price and parts he could find. Even searching on his days off in order to get it done, you cant find service like that anymore. I was happy with my experience with Tony and his team, they worked fast and got my car working again! I showed up Friday afternoon with a check engine light that had gone from steady to blinking. I had a serious problem and it was stressing me out. Tony slid me in and found the problem. I needed a valve job but they also took care of a few other problems while they had it apart. They looked for the underlying problems and fixed those as well. The amount of work I needed kept my truck over the weekend, but they got me back in my truck by lunch time on Monday. Tony is supper easy going. Not pushy but welcoming. I found this place by chance when my car broke down on the freeway. I was so happy with my experience. The mechanics started working on my car as soon as I drove in. They worked very hard at getting my car fixed and out as soon as they could. They did the same with the other customers that were there. This place had the quickest and best service in town. Mike was very helpful. before coming here I had my check engine light on, I went to a Mechanic shop that was charging me 500 to fix it, saying I need a new Canister Purge Valve. I was recommended to go to Performance Auto from a friend, so they diagnosed the problem fix everything under 200. The first time I walked up I was helped immediately. The manager Tony was very respectful and reasonable. Gave me straight information and fast service. While I waited I got to watch a cool movie and enjoy some free coffee. I would recommend this shop 10 times over and if anyone ever asks me I'll let them know Performance Auto Care is the place to go. Called, one of the mechanic answer the phone, Tony, very friendly and helpful guy, he answer all of my questions, recommend me on what I should do. Tony and Sammy and all the techs are very friendly and helpful. Triple A recommended them to me. They installed a new engine for me within a week. I have had other work done as well and each time they are fast and up front with all pricing and work. My accelerator cable was stretched and jumping off, they adjusted it for free and didn't tell me I had to buy a new one. I bought one myself and they put it on. TONY helped me out a lot. I recently replaced my brittle body sensor on my 2011 Silverado but it did not go through the idle relearn procedure. I was running a little low on funds and really needed my daily commuter back up and running,he fixed it in less than 30 minutes and was literally refusing to charge me anything because it was easy for him. Honestly the most trust worthy mechanics I've ever been to. Went the first time to get my brakes done and quoted 4 to 500 and I talked to Sammy and got it all done for 2/3s that. Just recently got my clutch replaced and got it done for less than 1/2 the other quotes. It's truly hard to find a place that isn't going to sell you and stuff you don't need. I have an an entry level Lexus Sports car, and really get tired of topping 100 bucks for an oil change at Jiffy Lube, I decided to try Performance Auto instead, Tony at the front desk immediately set me up with an appointment the following day. He let me know it was going to be about a 40 minute wait, but they had me out in 30! Excellent customer service, excellent timing. I will definitely be back for any maintenance needs. read more

I have neglected my Kia Sportage a bit, and GG is helping me get it back on track, one thing at a time. I wanted an oil change but I knew it was far more than that. The complete electric diagnostic showed me areas I suspected needed help but I was fearful of finding out (you know, out of sight out of mind?). Whatever the case, I had my oil flushed and cleaned out and taken care of. I can FEEL and HEAR the difference in my engine. Over the next few months I will tackle other things as I get paid. Bruce was a gem. Friendly and up front. When he says he's gonna call, he does. The quote stays the quote. No pressure to get anything done. I like that. Bruce is even going to make up a maintenance schedule for me. Solid. I'll be back.

AAA approved - They even ask you if you have it to give you the discount. Who does that right?! They always ask you if you need a ride. AND even though I live way out in the boonies of Escondido, they will take you home after dropping off your car and pick you back up for FREE when your vehicle is done. They always call to make sure you're satisfied with their work after and even send a handwritten thank you card. That is truly top notch customer service!

I called and talked to Mark on the phone who was so kind and easy to talk to and was able to get me in the next morning for a few things I needed. I feel like when you think about going in to get anything done with your car you never think of the quality of service and sincere care that the workers provide but that is what this spot is all about. They truly are the kindest people who you can tell care about you and your car and not trying to screw you over. I got my car back later that day running better than ever. I will 100% be coming back here next time I need anything serviced!

This is not the same place it was 2 years ago! I never thought I would have to re-consider my review for this place. Initially, I first came here in 2018 for an alignment on my truck. ONLY reason why I came back and continued to be a returning customer, not because my alignment went out of place (Steering wheel almost in a full left turn steer to be able to drive straight!) as soon as I got on the freeway from this shop after having a 4 wheel alignment done! I called since it was close to closing and Raul offered to check it out for free the next day. Found out, a bolt was loose! Fixed and sent me on my way! FYI, printer has not worked for 2 years or more and they will not show you the before & after. I asked and they sent me a picture through text . Yeah.. not legit. On another note. Zeke was the man and straight forward! No bs, no games, just there to do work! Unfortunately, he's not there no more. He was very transparent with his customers! Anyways, cool I can trust these guys since they fixed it for free Fast forward to 2020, I had 3 cars dropped off ever since 2018 and within those two years, I kid you not, I did 8-10 RETURNED visits! I finally gave up after the new employee and Raul wanted to play stupid with me within these past few weeks! Let me share one of my experiences. First and foremost, these guys don't know what they're doing and are just taking in what they can to give themselves work (especially during COVID-19) and when they do take work, oh man, they take their sweeeeeet time. First and foremost, out of all my 8-10 returned visits to this shop for separate occasions since 2018, alignment, sensor install/programming, unfinished maintenance work, the job was never fully complete! You think this is nothing? Well I am just glad I never had engine builds/costly work down here. I can't event imagine! I am all for supporting small/local businesses, but people running a business thinking they know what they are doing, not being transparent that they really don't have the "know-how's," and not understanding that time is much more valuable than money, the business will definitely forsee a huge reduction in customer retention and customer loyalty. I like to recommend my peers and networks, I am simply just trying to save you the hassle, nonetheless, your time. Future customers, are you thinking about going here? If you are second guessing, your gut is telling you no!!! Take my advice and my full transparency. I am all about giving back, but the guys at this shop are playing the "milk the clock, delay the time, and kick out the customers 20 minutes before shop closes and let the customers know, if the issue returns, just come back tomorrow" game. There is no tomorrow when you can't even figure out today. 100% would not recommend.

Still hadn't heard back from them by the end of the day, so I had to call them (this will be a recurring theme). They said, among others things, that my spark plugs needed changing. Only I had JUST had them replaced in November (when it was different people). Took him a while (this will ALSO be a recurring theme), but he checked the records and saw that I was telling the truth. The "manager" was a fast talker, constantly talking about how he's doing this and doing that and always keeps his customers in mind. Meanwhile, they kept my car for TWO WEEKS!!!! He said one of the spark plugs was stuck, and he couldn't find the right tool, and this particular thing didn't work and blah, blah, blah. Excuse after excuse after excuse. He also said that he would call me in an hour. Or during lunch. Or at the end of the day. HE NEVER DID! (oh, wait, praise Jesus he did call me back one time). I was constantly having to bug him and be the one to call him. One time I called and the other mechanic put me "on hold" - aka, put the phone down to the side - so I could hear the "manager" helping a customer. It took him 45 minutes to figure out how to work a credit card machine - and it was because the paper was backwards. When the car was "fixed" he then had the audacity to only charge me $198 instead of $220 because the spark plug work had already been done. Gee, thanks. I had my car for all of two miles, when it starts making a horrible noise. I was instantly done with my car and instantly done with Star Auto. I was a loyal customer and they just lost one for life.
