Recommended by a coworker because my check engine light was on and your vehicle will not pass emissions unless it is off. Took it in and spoke to Robert. He told me that it could either be an O2 sensor or something else like a vacuum leak. He asked me to bring it back in the morning. Brought it back in the morning and waited in the office/waiting room area. Comfortable and relaxing. Read my book on a leather sofa under a ceiling fan on a hot morning. Was there a total of 2 hours. Turns out it was only the O2 sensor. Part was ordered, delivered, and installed. Code was cleared and I was advised to drive it for 50 miles in the city (not highway) before going through emissions. Drove around as advised and went through emissions with flying colors. Would definitely recommend Perfect Tune for anything your car needs but especially for emissions related issues. read more

I went to Robert right after I got back from emissions to test a check engine light and they scheduled me in a few days later. I went to get my car check engine light fixed and all Robert had to say was that I needed to put injector fluid in my car. He also said that I was going to fail emissions after I took it back over there. Overall I had a bad experience and my car was not fixed in any way and I was charged 60$ for Robert to do nothing to my car and not giving me a straight answer about what I needed to do. I had the pleasure of meeting Robert when my 85 Jeep flunked it's emission test. Right off the bat he knew exactly what to do, adj. the carb and fix a clogged Purge canister, and bingo it passed the next day with flying colors. The irritating " check engine light" would not go off, and it was time for an emissions test to renew our tag. We have had work done on our car as far as oil changes . The last place we took our car destroyed our oil pan and we had to have it repaired. We took it to another shop and they lied to us about replacing the pan. They rigged it so we could drive the car without knowing what they had done. When it was time to have the oil changed again we went to have the oil changed and the next shop we took it to said they couldn't help us. So, we found Perfect Tune. Robert was honest and proficient. I at first was weary of coming here but I left completely satisfied. I was in a tricky situation with my carburetor and I couldn't figure out the problem. Bringing my Prelude to Perfect tune was the best thing I could do. Not only did I get my carb situated I also was able to pass emissions within the same week. Robert is very knowledgeable on any sort of issue that occurs, one of the best I've ever met. Pricing was good as well, I did have trouble when leaving but Robert was able to fix it up. He did charge a substantial amount for that but everything else was perfect. I recommend this shop for your older vehicles, emissions and any other odd problems that arise in your vehicles. As long as you give him time and trust him, he'll complete the job with excellence, mechanics get quite a bit of work to do so always be mindful of that when your car takes awhile in a shop. My in-laws have been using their service for ever and now I know why!! Robert is so honest and he knows what he's doing! At first we were just trying to be independent and went to another shop for an inspection for our car. And the mechanic at the other place told me to do multiple replacements and change the timing belt and gave me a huge number on the quote. But when I went to Robert today, he only needed to change one broken engine mount and told me to come back when my mileage is high enough to do other tune ups. I tried this place on recommendation of my apartment's rental office when the left tail light of my car stopped working and I determined it wasn't a simple fuse replacement. Not only were they courteous, fast, and affordable, but they were also upfront about the exact piece I needed to replace on the fuse box. This was the most impressive part, as when my car had electrical problems two years, the mechanic I went to then sold me buying a new wiring harness, and the cost exceeded 600 dollars. When I wasn't able to find the part in a junk yard (a splicer pack), I brought in a workaround found on the internet. Not only did they readily accept the task, but also finished in record time despite having other cars to work on, and at a fraction of what I was expecting to pay. This guy (Robert Lott) knows his stuff! I called ahead because when I drove by, the place looked so busy, I didn't think I'd be able to get in for weeks, but he said bring it right over. I had been unable to pass emissions, after over $1,000 and a month spent at another garage. I sat in the waiting area about a half hour when he said it was fixed. I could hardly believe it, and the price was quite reasonable. Better yet, I passed emissions the next day, with no problem. I can see why he has fans. Robert took my car inside his service area and instead of replacing the alternator he did work on my transmission. I was charged for a new alternator. Robert return my car to me and I could barely drive it off his lot. The car was pulling so hard I could only drive 15 miles with me pushing my foot all the way down on the accelerator. I immediately turned the car around at the light and took the car back to the shop. I explained what was going on to Robert and he told me he was going to have one of his guys look at the car. It took approximately ten minutes and Robert return to the waiting area and told me I quote, "You have 5 quarts to much fluid in your tranny" I asked Robert three times "what are you talking about"? Robert was sitting right next to me in his chair and he either didn't hear me or didn't know I was talking to him because he didn't respond. I turn around and looked at my daughter and asked her "he didn't hear me?" His wife and son were sitting in the area and they didn't say a word (I talk loud). I then asked Robert again "what is a "tranny" he said the transmission. Now let us remember I did not take my car into Robert shop for transmission service and nor Robert or his workers should have been working on my transmission, and especially should haven't put 5 quarts of the wrong transmission fluid in my car which caused damage to my transmission and engine. There was nothing wrong with my transmission when I arrived at Robert shop and after he drained the fluid out of my transmission he assured me the car would be okay. It was less than 24 hours after I left Robert shop my car literally broke down and sounded like it was falling apart while I was driving the car back home. The sounds were so loud the car began going CLUCK! CLACK!, CLUCK!, CLACK! loudly down the street it sounded and felt like it was literally going to fall apart and stop running. I just prayed all the way home. I called Robert while I was still driving so he could hear the sounds coming from the car and he began telling me about how the transmission fluid was so dirty and how often it should be changed. Robert also said, "your car is old and have a lot of miles". I told Robert my car only has 130,518 miles on it (a 2002 Buick). Robert then repeated the question of asking me if I had a receipt to show he removed the transmission fluid. I then asked Robert what was he going to do about my car? he said he wasn't liable for my car an hung up the telephone. This is a person who have been repairing my car for eight years. Robert did admit to putting too much fluid in my transmission he said they would remove the fluids and he did not charge me for the work. This was so he wouldn't have to give me a receipt for the work and it would be his word against my word in court because Robert kept asking me if I had a receipt for the transmission fluid being removed. My daughter asked Robert son "Who do work without charging the person? especially when he just charged me $462 dollars for the alternator. When I went back to Robert shop to get the old alternator he began telling me I had to buy it back because he sold it to the people he brought the new one from and if I brought the alternator back it would cost me $800.00 dollars to get the old one back. Robert than got really angry and jumped up out of his chair and began screaming and slammed both of his hands down on his counter making a really loud sound and I quote, "When I am talking you listen, don't be talking when I am talking" he had this real evil look in his face. Robert continue to refuse to repair my car after he damaged my transmission. BEWARE!! go to his shop at your own risk. read more

I've been to quite a few different shops and have a mechanic at Auto Tech Randy I've been going to for at least 6 years. Unfortunately he couldn't fix what was wrong with my car so recommended this shop. This is by far the worst experience and bad customer service EVER! I was told to different prices and there was some miscommunication that happened and Robert had got inches from my face and was so very rude! I mean even if I was all in the wrong who treats their customers like that! Bad business and poor taste in my opinion and thankfully will never have to go back there. read more

I've been going to see Robert for over 20 years (in multiple locations) and my late father-in-law was seeing him before me. Quite frankly when it comes to automotive repair the guy is a genius. He got out of mechanic school in 1969. Back in the early 90's he helped me expose Sears for flimflamming my wife (got sold a CV joint unit and all she needed were the CV joint boots). Had enough proof to get our money back from those thieves. He will give you a ridiculously accurate estimate and even ask you if you want to buy the part(s) to yourself to save you a few bucks. Who does that? The place itself is a little unusual, cluttered with vehicles, motors, etc. and it's best to park on the street and go in. He doesn't do brakes or alignments but recommends Bailey's Brakes, and Bailey's recommends him for mechanical work (although they've never even met).
