DO NOT USE PERFECT POOL!!! The owner Chris is a liar. We contacted perfect pool and spa to refinish our pool after a fire. Chris claimed he repaired and pressure tested the pool drains. After pouring the concrete deck we found that Chris lied. The pipe for the main drain was missing a 6 foot section of piping. When confronted with these facts Chris stated " We can take it to court." Another incident that all should be awAre of is his employees are not electricians. When the new electrical panels were installed by perfect pool and spa they were installed incorrectly resulting in shorted outlets in the panel. This is after we expanded to Chris we were refinishing our pool due to a traumatic fire. I had to stop contact between my wife and Chris because he was demeaning and told my wife "If you could understand basic concepts then you'd get what I'm explaining to you but you don't." We have been with this company for almost 10 years. We have hand full of different pool guys with the company come out over the years and this last guy left our pool gate open. When we called to notify them, they said they left a note on our account and ensured it wouldn't happen again. A few weeks later, the pool gate was left open again and our dogs got out. Thankfully a child never wandered into our pool. I called and abruptly cancelled our service and never received a phone called from the owner or management regarding my cancellation or concern. We were clearly just another monthly bill for this company and they did not take my safety concern of leaving my pool gate open seriously. We used to recommend this company to all of our friends, however we will never do that again. read more

This company was assigned as a service company from a home warranty. The process is simple, pay the home warranty a $100 deductible, they assign a partner for the job, job is scheduled and completed. Pretty simple. After 4 confirmation emails and 2 text confirmations, I took the day off work to wait for the 9am to 1pm window from these multiple confirmations. When 1:30 came, and no one had showed up, I called Perfect Pools. The phone person outright tells me that "these warranty companies make appointments all the time, but if you didn't get a call from us it doesn't exist". Um...ok. If that were true, how did this rep know my address? They clearly had some indication of a service call. I'm then told that "maybe" they could come out on Thursday, and I'd need to take another day off work...outside of that it may be a couple of weeks. Unacceptable. So, I reach out to the warranty company...who coincidentally tells me that they DO NOT MAKE ANY APPOINTMENTS. So, who is lying here? The company that knew who I was, likely saw all of these confirmations, and no-showed? Or the national company that just hands them business? I don't trust these folks now (especially after reading reviews and seeing their 3 stars here), I'd encourage you to look around as well. read more

Two stars because their workers are nice and friendly. I called to have my pool cleaning system fixed. They did the wrong thing and then didn't diagnose what was wrong with the system. So I did my own research and to the best I could figure it was a pump issue. So I called them back and explain loaned my system still is not working. They fixed the pump without diagnosing, and left. System still not working properly so I called again. I asked if they diagnosed the problem and all they said was we switched the pump, they charged me a 3rd time and my pool system still doesn't work. $2000 later still having issues... I don't like leaving bad reviews that could affect businesses incomes of the workers but they need to fix how they handle service calls! Workers are friendly but I will never call the company again for any of my pool needs. read more

We had perfect pool and spa service for a very long time.Sometimes they were good, sometimes they were not. They had not done an great job for some time now but I attributed that to the comany's growth. Recently we needed to resurface our pool. PPand S were more expensive than other two bids but agreed to do the 2 x daily surface brushing for 4-6 weeks as we are out of town often and we are older folks..... So, they applied the new surface and not only did they not brush twice daily, they came and brushed one time only. Our son was here the day they finished and could hsve brushed the pool for a few days but he wasn't advised to do it. We also paid an extra $1,000 for abalone to create sparkle but because it was not brushed (I could only do the shallow end when I was in town), the sparkle only shows a few places in the shallow end. The brushing was in our contract which was made with Mike (the only person we could call that could get things done after Chris became management). Anyway, Chris then told me "that's why Mike no longer works here". Bottom line is that they also broke my pool light, sent a guy out who said he'd be back with parts and I never saw him again. In fact, no one, even Chris, has contacted us at all. They left the job messed up, missed a few places, no brushing, no abalone sparkle and stopped responding to our calls. We still owed them a little but they owe us more which I guess I have to get via small claims. Since then, we got the pool light fixed and have new pool service which is so much better than PPandS that they aren't even close. Do yourself a favor and avoid this business. They were okay at first then got greedy and are all about money and zero customer service. They work very quickly and it shows. They don't stand behind their work and don't do agreed upon work. Do yourself a favor, avoid this company and the aggravation. To Mike - where ever you are: PPandS was the loser when they fired you. You were the only reason we stayed as long as we did. I hope it wasn't our contract that Chris used to fire you but I'm sure you've discovered he did you a favor in the long run. If you ever need a recommendation, let us know! read more

Perfect pool's is like if you hired a lawn service and all they did was edge your lawn. They wouldn't mow or blow the trimmings or treat any fungus. They don't assist you in any way on care and maintenance of your pool. If you get Mouse as your poll guy, then you should have read my review. He is terrible and doesn't want to talk to you and wants to just get to the next pool. I would like to know the individuals I allow on my property and It took us a month just to meet the guy, I wish hadn't. Don't let them have a dime of your money. Office staff was very unorganized and communication was non-existent. Owner knows this and gave me his direct line because I refused to communicate with his office staff last fall. We only used them because last summer we were planning to rent out our house for two months and the big draw in a Redding summer is the pool. We noticed a 4-6 inch tear in a corner of the shallow end. They were the only company that said they could do a patch before the time when we were going to rent out the house. It came with a caveat that we pay $1,000 down payment and in September have them install a new pool liner. The "patch" was 3 strips of gorilla tape that didn't even cover the whole tear. Pretty pathetic. That was in early June 2023. Did not hear anything from them until workers showed up to our house mid September to drain our pool. 3 months of silence and no communication on dates/times. Then my father-in-law asks a question about a bulge in the side of the pool towards the deep end and the office manager calls off the whole team. Literally shuts down the entire project because she was so frustrated and confused. Bizarre. Owner leaves my wife an angry voicemail (I've told him that his office needs to lose my wife's number and only deal with me). I call him back and he sincerely apologizes for his voicemail and for his office manager's unprofessionalism and mistake. Liner gets put in, we swim a few weeks then winter. Swim a few weeks this spring and the liner lock starts falling in to the pool. I email pics to the office and get a condescending call from the owner that this is perfectly natural and just put it back in place. I naturally thought for $9,000 I wouldn't have to be fixing anything they did after a few weeks of swimming. Sent another text saying if it is so easy have one of your guys come fix it. In response the office calls my wife (did not lose her number) but I was there and the lady (different one then last summer, thank goodness) says that's not under warranty and it's $95...for probably a 3 minute job. I leave owner a vm with no response. Call a few more times and after a heated discussion he says that's only for filling the pool and not necessary anymore. Bang it back in to place, cut it, remove it because it doesn't matter. Odd that didn't come up during the installation or multiple phone calls and texts. So still seems kind of weird to not care about the delivered product once payment is received. Doesn't seem to be a desire to stand by their product. Almost all interactions over the past year were condescending on their part (like the installer's response when I raised an eyebrow to the overall cost...shrugged his shoulders and said, "Well a pool is a luxury item.") Definitely would not recommend. Oh, some reviews are about weekly pool service. I did that for a few weeks after the new liner was installed. Sometimes tech was there less than 5 minutes and we received zero communication on what was done. Just a bill. I asked for what was done and was promised in the future customers will receive that. Cancelled quickly and now do maintenance myself for a fraction of the cost, full transparency and zero condescending conversations! read more

I have a pool where the Pebbletec was installed to where it met the deck. The Pebbletec started popping out within 6 months of having the pool built - but we lived with it for over 20 years! I tried getting someone to help me with this problem for at least 5 years, no one seemed to be interested in revamps! - then I got a card in the mail from Perfect Pool & Spa. Chris James showed up on time, was very easy to work with and I got ideas of what could be done. He then brought his "Ace" Tile installer, Darrin, in for a consult. In a simple word, Darrin is the BEST. He showed up on time, was extremely pleasant to work with, had great ideas and suggestions (never pushy) He was so great, that I am going to work with him on other projects. I do want to note that I was a bit hesitant on using Perfect Pool & Spa after reading the reviews. After meeting Chris and Darrin, however, I felt like they were good people and went with my gut - and I am so happy that I did! Unfortunately, I can't find a lot of my before photos - hopefully this will show how great this works - its even better in person! This spring we are revamping the deck. read more

Oh were do I start! Way over priced on the supplies - they pay their workers commissions on what they charge you for extras! I changed to another service and am saving about 3/4 on the cost of supplies. Incredibly unprofessional on all they do - they put the new fountain pump into the pool and not the fountain. They never told me the pump they were putting in was bigger and stronger then the one I had thus it pushes too much water. Find another company - save your money or give it to the homeless. Had an auxiliary pump installed and was not done professionally. The pump was not secured to the slab as required by the city code. When I asked why it was not done the installer said, it will take a hurricane to move it. Well, that is not a reason to not follow the code. The pump is also leaking where the water connections are. Started leaking a few weeks after installation and another technician came out, looked at the pump and said I knew what the problem is and how to fix it. I am going to tighten it and if it leaks call the office and I will come out to fix it. Well.... yes.... I called the office, and I am now told the 3 month warranty expired and I have to pay to get the pump fixed. Well, let's see what the judge says in small claims court. read more

Upon further inspection most of the sand from the filter had been emptying into our pool. My home warranty company sent out a tech to fix my noisy hot tub. The company the tech came from was 80 miles away from my house. Within a minute of arriving, the tech claimed that all hot hubs resonate and that noise was not covered by home warranties. He took a cover off and claimed the noise was due to wood rod though the pump and motor are one unit and no amount of moving them would even slightly change the noise. The problem is likely the motor beginning to fail but the tech rather rudely told me there was nothing he could do and in less than 10 minutes left. I was stuck paying an $85 home warranty service fee and got absolutely nothing for it. Before he came out, I told the dispatcher at Perfect Pool and Spa that the reason for the service call was due to noise, yet she did not say that noise was not covered, which would have saved me the money and hassle. The tech also said that even if I wanted them to, they could not repair the hot tub because the office was too far away. What a useless company. Later, I reviewed my home warranty contract and there is no mention of noises not being covered. I contacted the home warranty and requested a refund of the $85 and agreed. I will not use the company again and do not recommend them. read more

Chris, who appears to own the company got paid $1,500 to install a $400 new motor on my pump. His technician programmed it incorrectly, now all the components are running out of sync, with the sweep motor and salt cell running dry without water. He was unwilling to help me program it, said he didn't know how to and he told me the pump was incompatible with my system controller. He told me this only after he installed it and now refuses to correct the problem without charging me even more money. He could have easily offered the next size pump which could work with my controller - but he did not. Told me I should have asked. Chris - if you read this - please make it right and I will change my review. If my review is still up, Chirs never made it right. BTW - he was over 2 hours late for this appointment as well. read more

Never had a company owner treat me the way this companies owner did. It was my 2nd day on the Job and I was met with rudeness and disrespect. He told me to go clean the debris from the company truck, there were 4 trucks outside at the time so I asked him which one and he showed me. So I did as he asked and asked if there was anything else I could do and he ver batum told me very aggressively and rudely "I'm the company owner, I don't have time to be telling you what or how to do your job". 'this was not a good experience' is being way too nice. my home warrantee company recommended them (they will be getting a review next) and the first time they came out they sent the owner to inspect. after a quick glance he told me i needed a new pump and control panel. keep in mind the spa was working, it was just leaking badly. he told me the pump and control were covered so i didnt care if i got new equipment since i did pay for the warrantee(but still seemed pretty sleazy he was just looking to line his pockets at fidelities expense). he said the leak was not covered and i had to remove all the paneling so he could figure out where it was leaking from. he assured me he would screw the paneling back on and do it right. he told me he would come another day after i had taken the panels off. we he came back couple weeks later he found animal carcasses and told me that again was my job he would not touch it. so he left and removed the dead bodies and called them out again which was almost a month later. this time he sent 2 of his employees to replace the pump and fix the leak. after a couple hours they left and said nothing to me. i checked it out noticed a new pump and leaky pipe was fixed. but everything was apart and spa was empty so i figured they were not finished. couple weeks later i called since nothing more had happen and they told me the job was complete. baffled because how did they even test it if it was still empty? plus the panels were still off. i filled the spa to test myself but it would not even power up. when i called them back some rude punk kid told me i had to pay for a new control panel (that was working before) if i wanted them to come back out. i called the owner a week later myself and asked him why he did not screw siding back on he claimed he did not recall telling me that. so 120 days into this i have a torn apart spa that wont run. the warrant co refuses to send another company out and i am dumfounded. paid huge to add the spa to my coverage when bought this place and i got nothing for it. read more

They came to fill our pool with salt for the season, and were able to address everything going on with our pool in the matter of 2 days. Chris' knowledge and Don's helpfulness getting the pool ready for the season was unparalleled (cleaning filters, fixing sweep, explaining all the added salt and what we should be keeping an eye out for). Misty, the phone coordinator for billing and scheduling was a delight to talk to about questions. She really did her best to get the guys to our home on time, and when we couldn't be home the second day, she coordinated and communicated very well between us and the technician. Chris has come out twice in the last two years. First, we purchased our house with a lime green pool and a pool pump that was making noise. He help troubleshoot the problem and direct us towards a great city rebate that saved us hundreds of dollars. Secondly, he came out and troubleshot a used spa that we had. He found the leaks and gave us a best and worst case scenario oh for the repair. He was friendly, prompt, and bid under what we had expected from other providers. Had an appt that I made with Chris for middle of the day. They never showed up and I lost 3 hrs worth of income. I called 2xs that day and left messages on Chris phone with no call back. Then the next morning Matt calls to apologize...too late. Already bad business in my eyes. Then today almost a week later we get a bill for the service fee i was quoted, PLUS extra $25 for materials!! Are you kidding?! When I called, Chris was apologetic and stated that those bills are generated prior to service...seriously?! How can you send a bill to someone you have never worked with. Don't shop there! A company of crooks! Came over to give an estimate on repairs of our spa. Spent a total of 10 minutes and named off three problems and told us it would cost us $800 for the repairs. We then called Affordable Spas in Redding who came over and after a detailed inspection told us all that was wrong was the heater. Total cost $99.99 for heater, $70.00 for labor! As I said, don't shop at Perfect Pool and Spa, give Affordable Spas a call instead! read more

Set up an appointment and they never showed up!!!! Played phone tag for about two weeks with Chris. Customers should know that he will call you back once, but not attempt to make any additional calls to reach you. Even though I made it clear in a voice message, what my work hours were, return calls came in at random times. I finally gave my mom the number and asked her to try and set up an appointment. An appointment was set and nobody ever showed up. It is now 3 days after the scheduled appointment...no call, no follow up, no explanation as to why the appointment was missed.... Do not waste your time with these guys. I have a very long story with Chris and his team. I asked him to bid about $17K in work. I was prepared to do all of it with them. He was responsive at first and bid it all reasonably quick (which I'm learning is rare for Redding). One of the items was to have a safety pool fence installed. He told me that the only color he could get me was black. I thought that was ridiculous. I easily found the color I wanted online and asked if he would just install it for me. To his credit, he agreed to install a product he knew nothing about. But that is where it stops. The install was absolute crap. I mean horrible and very unsafe for children. And they thought it was just fine. Again, to their credit, they came out two more times to try to make it right. I have no idea if I ended up paying for that rework. I'm sure I did. But the work was so shotty, there is no way I am going to have them do a $10K resurface job for me. And Chris never came by to see how bad the job was to try to make it right like he said he would. Beyond that, I was having them do my regular pool maintenance. It was horrible. Went green twice. They had to shock it because they didn't maintain it well and then charged me for two overpriced shock chemical treatments. And they charged me for a piece of hardware (filter basket) that I did not authorize them installing. Needless to say, I dropped their service. My life is much better not having Perfect Pools in it. Bad repair and inflated prices! Use another company. We regret using this company. Our pool light (only a few years old) was filling with water. The owner, Chris, came by (was here about 7 minutes and somewhat rude), removed the light and said he needed to replace the lens seal and motor inside, and would use some sealant on the back where the cord enters and had a worn rubber gasket (where the water was actually coming in). He said it would be a few days, couldn't tell us when. A few days later, we went into the backyard to find the light reinstalled (hopped our locked fence??!! We were home, why didn't they knock-or call?? Sneaky). Again, the light was filled with water! We called Chris and he didn't respond. My husband removed the light and found a lot of wet clear jelly-sealant on the cord entrance on the back of the light, not very effective sealant. We went to Home Depot and bought marine grade sealant, read the instructions carefully which clearly said to let set for 24hours before getting wet. We removed the wet blob that they had applied and used the new sealant and let it set for a day, it then sealed good and lights, but because water had already been inside the light again the motor was ruined (the new motor they charged us $100 for!) so it doesn't rotate as it once did. In total they charged us over $200, including $50 for the initial visit which was supposed to be free, for a bad repair that WE eventually had to fix. We called the owner many times and he never returned our calls. I eventually spoke with a Mike? who was very nice and agreed we had been overcharged and he understood that there was no way their sealant could have set up in the short time they snuck into our yard. He said he would reduce our bill. The owner then sent me a very rude and arrogant email, saying his work was perfect and he would not reduce the bill, then completely lied and said "I warned you guys you might just need a whole new light". He NEVER said anything of the sort, and we did NOT need a new light, just a more honest and knowledgeable repair person. He inflated his fees, did bad work, and was dishonest with us. Had a problem with one of the pumps in my pool. Called on Thursday, Chris showed up Friday morning and had it fixed in no time. (Very responsive). Asked about 1 minor issue with plumbing and got a very reasonable quote. Monday morning Matt showed up and did a great job with plumbing, but took the time to answered a lot of questions.
