You can see that the owner put her heart into creating a warm and inviting space. It's her artform! The service was personable ~ DeAnn (the owner) personally served us and was kind, attentive, and engaging! What a joy... The food was absolutely delectable! Every bite was fresh, crisp, flavorful! I'm often reluctant to eat out because so many restaurants lack good quality ingredients, but you can absolutely taste the authenticity and quality ingredients! My oh my my Gump peeps. This place is a rare exception to Restaurants in De Gump. Farm to Table and they actually let You know the farms. The service is above par. The atmosphere is comfortable. Last night without a reservation we were able to eat in the bar area. The menu changes frequently based on local availability and was fabulous! Strawberry season brought a great sangria, strawberry shortcake and homemade strawberry ice cream! The grilled shrimp was really good! The kale chips were not like anything I have had before, but I really enjoyed them. Always enjoy the deviled eggs! We also had the conecuh piggies in a blanky served with beer cheese sauce and spicy mustard. Everyone enjoyed their cocktails! First class!! read more

I'm traveling across country to Atlanta and stopped for dinner. I'm so very glad I did -- I had the Gulf triple tail with polenta cake and a salad: GORGEOUS. The fish was perfectly cooked, and I very rarely experience that in restaurants. Delicious! The restaurant is a cozy bungalow and everything is served in good china from family homes along with the good silver plate utensils. And it's all hyper-hyper-superduper LOCAL, even providing a numbered list of locally sourced ingredients keyed to notes on the menu! Such a fabulous place! read more

We visited on 10-18-2025: The Perennial is a cozy, idyllic hidden gem located in the Forest Park area of Montgomery. From the moment you step through the door, you feel as if you stepped back in time. Every aspect of this restaurant is unique and thoughtfully designed...right down to the wallpaper and the way they bring your check to you. The ambiance is relaxing, and it feels as if you are having Sunday dinner at your grandparents home. The ingredients used are locally sourced from area farmers and producers. The menu changes frequently so you can go often and have a different experience every time. You can tell the chef is committed to quality and ensuring that diners have an unparalleled experience. All of the flavors complement each other and everything pairs well. The service is exceptional, and you're made to feel as if you are having a personally catered experience. My husband and I dined at Perennial Restaurant last night and the experience was, in a word, sublime. First off I would like to make the distinction that Perennial is not a fast food establishment. It is not intended to hurl food into your gullet and get you out the door in three minutes. The Slow Food revolution is meant to *nourish* your body, mind and spirit - taking care and spending time on how the food is sourced, the condition of the produce, the wellbeing of the animals - it's all important and valuable and this is what Slow Food attempts to give us. So when you go, expect to sit and enjoy all of the details that were put into your experience. The atmosphere is eclectic while being warm and inviting. The water served is chilled, filtered, and without ice which is a stellar touch. We were served by the owner, Deanne who was friendly, inviting, and gave us plenty of space to enjoy our own company without hovering while also keeping us informed on menu changes and updates. The menu is rotating & seasonal based on locally sourced ingredients which is a phenomenal way to experience what your area has to offer and made for a delightful dinner. We enjoyed a beef bourguignon, a seasonal kale salad with gulf shrimp, the bread served was fresh and lightly toasted, and dessert was a scoop of vanilla ice cream with olive oil, honey and sea salt - amazing! Some things to note: the space is relatively child-friendly, there are many china cabinets and breakables present but age-appropriate children would love the space - it is full of natural light and plants. The menu is priced according to what's available in our area and can also be rotating, plan accordingly and tip generously knowing your money is being poured back into your local community & its members. I am excited about such a restaurant and I do hope it is sucessful. Our group of 10 ate there last night. As you may know by now, the owner is a teacher at AUM in nutrition and all of ingredients are local and the menu is taylored to the local available products. This is a restaurant one might find in Atlanta but it is a delight in MGM. The setting is almost magical in an old house with antiques. The light switches are the old button type and one feels like they are early in the past century. The service was fantastic and the staff readily accomodated the need of our party to all sit squeezed at the same table. The only reason I did not give a 5 star rating is that none of us thought the food was outstanding. The appitizers from the shrmp cocktail to the mushroom pate were uniformly good with the sweet potato skins and the pate being the best. Only Alabama beverages were available and some missed their favorite cocktail but most felt those availa ble were well done. The bigger plates were a bit disappointing in that the chicken was somewhat bland and the lamb dish had little flavor. I had a homemade root beer float in that the root beer and the ice cream were made by the owner. Unfortunately I did not think this made the float better. The homemade sweet potato ice cream was good and one diner raved about the pecan pie. The prices of the dishes were in line with the portions. This is not a restaurant one should come to be stuffed, save that for your next Mexican restaurant. Overall, the experience was great and I hope on my next trip I get more flavor in my choices. I am told the pork chops, when on the menu, are fantastic. Give Perennial a try, and I will try again in hopes I can raise to a 5. We need this kind of restaurant to survive in Montgomery. read more

We ordered the toast (mushroom pate, truffle oil, honey on sourdough) and it was delicious! Also got the sweet potato skins, cornmeal biscuits, lamb ribs, navy beans and apple crumble.
