In Boise for Fathers Day, and we decided to get a reservation and try Percy. Located in a new building downtown, the Percy is a towering room that still manages to feel intimate because of its timeless decor, moody interior, and classy finishes. We made a reservation for their patio, a small but perfectly appointed and positioned area on the North side of the building. My only criticism from our experience was that we were seated several minutes after our reservation time, in spite of there being multiple tables available. While I understand the restaurants need to plan for all their tables and reservations moving forward, I believe if the restaurant doesn't honor the reservation time there should be a comped drink or dessert or something. If we miss our time, we can be charged as customers, so the same courtesy should extend the other direction. Finally seated, a very friendly server took drink orders and delivered menus. We ordered their Percy house made chive biscuits with tomato butter, and a whole roasted artichoke for the table. While both appetizers were exceptional, the biscuits are a show stopper. Not exaggerating when I say none of us in my family have ever had better in our lives. If you go, this is a must order. Entrees ordered were a delicious Salmon dish with cous cous, flank steak with a cheesy green chile rice, and steak frites. The salmon and marinated skirt steak stand out as top bites. The steak frites, while prepared perfectly didn't rise to the same level, and I would likely not order them again. All in all, this is a fantastic restaurant! A perfect blend of upscale dining with a sheik yet casual vibe and excellent service. Highly recommended. read more

This place knocked my socks off. The sourdough focaccia was delicious, so was the sourdough pasta. I heard their starter is super old and is shared among 3 restaurants, you can tell its quality. Loved this place from the moment we walked in! We had booked a reservation to celebrate our daughter's 25th birthday and were sat right at the beautiful round table in the front window... they made her feel special as soon as she arrived. Came in with some friends that are regulars (at least one of them) so had some guidance in app choices. Love the room, the feel, the flow of the room, my sort of spot! Great service, comfortable seats and lots to see! We did the biscuits which as a huge fan of the biscuit, both making them and sampling...these are the bomb! I recently ate at Percy with someone who was in town to visit and we had a great experience. The restaurant is beautiful and I really liked the seating with the open booth concept. The service was fast, but not rushed. We had the rotisserie chicken and the beef tenderloin and they were both so good. We started with the focaccia and ended with the cheesecake which was lemon blueberry the night we were there and we would highly recommend. Visiting our son from out of town and he suggested Percy for brunch. Beautiful restaurant and the staff was fantastic. Very attentive and polite and patient with us. The food was excellent! A winner all around! We started with drinks at the bar. Highly recommend the Hemingway Daiquiri. Our booth was ready at the time set for our reservation. Friendly and helpful servers. We ordered the crispy cauliflower with parsnip tahini sauce-- a standout! Also had the salmon and the branzino. Each selection was delicious. Another place we selected during our trip because of the wife's always thorough pre-trip research. Good call by her, without a doubt. The place was packed when we got in, so we were obviously in the right place to be. We were lucky and got a couple of bar seats. Will was our primary bartender (although we met a friend of a friend behind the bar later during our dinner). Spotless service, great personality. Wife had the Black Lotus drink, and it was...amazing. Not too sweet, like she prefers. I had the Highlander "Salmon" IPA. There was nothing fishy about its great taste, and I loved it. I guess we continued the salmon theme by ordering the salmon toast. Ridiculous, and a perfect start to the meal. For the mains, she got the pappardelle, I had to try the burger. Both were fantastic. I am known to rank my burgers, and it does indeed make an appearance on the list. The salmon starter still might have won the overall food battle for my visit though. One other thing, I love hot sauce, especially house hot sauce, and fun things to dip my fries in. They supplied three containers of awesomeness. No TV's to watch sports, but the overall experience and atmosphere, along with the flawless service make you not need them anyway. Everything was tasty, described accurately, and efficiently delivered. The place has energy without bordering on obnoxious. It balances perfectly going to a nice, classy meal or just going out for some drinks and fun. This was one of our favorite stops during the trip. I love this place! We went for my birthday about a year ago and had their brunch and everything we had was excellent. Our server was kind and friendly and stayed on top of things despite it being very busy. Last week we went for dinner instead and while everything was good, my meal (the onion and leak orzo I think it was) wasn't mind blowing...but the low-lighting for dinner was a nice change of ambience and my in-laws all enjoyed their meat dishes! This is our new favorite restaurant in Boise! we are a married couple, long term Boise residents. This our favorite ever server: Ryan! That's saying a lot because we were there to celebrate my husband's 79th birthday. We've been in a lot of restaurants with a lot of servers. Ryan was the most consistently efficient, kind, conversational, well groomed (even a pressed shirt) which seems trivial until you compare it to some other local restaurants. Ryan gave us solutions to questions, recommendations and generally nice but professional discourse. He was outstanding. We were also impressed by the cleanliness and rich but casual design style. They managed to make it look well crafted and designed without using cost prohibative materials while not showing cost cutting measures. Everything was immaculately styled and cleaned. Ryan said they do deep cleaning once a week and it shows. Extra features like brass hooks under the bar for backpacks, umbrellas, bags and purses showed an extra mile approach to design elements. The bar foot rail appeared to be brass or coated with brass. Linen clean cafe curtains hung unwrinkled between booths. Some seating had faux velvet banquettes with interesting chairs, seating varied but was consistent in each area yet blended across the restaurant, adding visual interest. Huge windows surrounded two sides, beautifully lighting the area and showcasing blooming white flowering trees outside. It was lovely and calming. The bar and seating areas were done in a faux mahogany or walnut traditional casing which looked authentic and beautiful. Liquor shelves showcased sparkling clean bottles of top shelf spirits. The drinks were superior, no shortcuts there, even though it was happy hour with buy one get one half off. Cadillac Margaritas were fabulous. The menu was happily different than typical fare. We found ingredients to be extensive and generously utilized. Excellent appetizer, we had the salmon toast with onion, dill, and several other components on delicious bread. My husband had tallow fries with the au jus Porchetta Dip, he loved it. I had the skirt steak, delicious. I was thrilled to find out they don't use seed oils! We had so much food that we brought half of it home for tomorrow! We also had the blueberry topped cheesecake. They were so sweet, they lit a vcandle on it for my husbands birthday. It was very nice and tasted good. We are an older couple and were very pleased to find this place with more traditional service and decor, while still being modern. Anyone from Idaho would really like it because it isn't corporate with trucked in frozen/reheated processed food. Its owners have several local establishments, including The Wylder, Wyld Child,Certified Kitchen and Bakery, and others. They are local, originally from Arizona. Ask for Ryan for exceptional service, although to be fair, we went early so he had time to be extra attentive. I'm sure the others are just as good. We felt relaxed and peaceful being there. Went here for my birthday dinner, and it was pretty good! We ordered Ken's biscuits for appetizers, braised short ribs and sourdough pappardelle for entrees, and the warm cobbler for dessert. Ken's biscuits were AMAZING. I guess they change the flavor seasonally. The ones we had were the smoked bacon and chives and they were delicious, especially with the maple butter. The braised short ribs that my hubby ordered were good especially with the mashed potatoes, but it got pretty salty the more you ate. My sourdough pappardelle with short ribs ragu was better. It had the right amount of flavor, so it didn't feel too savory or salty as I kept eating. For dessert, we got the warm cobbler. I guess depending on the season, the fruit they use also varies. The one we had was with tart cherries and pears. It was tasty, but not amazing. I think the biscuit they used for the cobbler was a little too thick for the amount of fruit underneath. Overall, it was a good experience! We'll definitely come back to try their brunch menu too. At the very least, we'll come back for Ken's biscuits . From the food to the service and ambience, I had very little to complain about. This place is great for date night or a family outing, but if anything the lighting could have been a little lighter. We had the biscuits and spinach artichoke dip to start, both of which were unbelievably good. The biscuits rivaled those I had in Georgia, and that's saying something. The skirt steak was okay, maybe a B+, but the lamb shanks was pretty amazing. If you have room for dessert,the carrot cake is pretty delicious but on the massive side. We came to Boise to visit family and Percy was our first meal out and it was an excellent start. Our foods were amazing but the service from our waitress, Shanell, was exceptional. On top of being professional, friendly, and efficient with managing the rest of the team attending to our party of 5, she was extremely knowledgeable with the menu items including the most minute ingredients used in the dishes. We ordered fries as one of the starters and we could tell it was cooked in animal fat due to the richness of the flavour. They were so good. We asked if she knew how the fries were cooked. With no hesitation, she said beef tallow. That was just an example. My pappardelle with short ribs was a perfect rib-sticking dish for the winter. The star to me, however, was the apple cobbler. The bathrooms are communal. Even if this restaurant had a great menu and good food, I would not return. For the owners to decide for me that I shouldn't mind sharing a restroom with someone from the opposite sex in the stall next to me is an absolute non-starter. The soda I ordered was flat. The waitress came back with a replacement, letting me know she changed the syrup!?!?! (Not the CO2). Obviously, no change in the carbonation - it was just as flat. She kindly returned with a replacement ice-tea I requested. (It had 3 ice cubes in it). I ordered the French Onion Risotto and added chicken as a protein. They brought it to me with about 10 small strands from a rotisserie chicken (perhaps from Costco) on it, instead of a nicely grilled, seasoned breast of chicken - that even a place like Chili's would have done. The classic prime rib French Dip is not on the menu, but instead a Porchetta Dip. When I asked the waitress what porchetta is, she said it's a fatty cut of meat from a pig (pork belly). This is an upscale restaurant? The men in my family settled for the hamburger and fries because there was nothing else on the menu that interested them. When they brought it out it just looked like the kind of meal you'd order from a cheap, knock-off fast food restaurant. No flare whatsoever. The guys said it tasted just okay - my nephew didn't even finish his. We had gone to celebrate my birthday. The waitress wished me a happy birthday, but they did nothing celebratory for me. When we had finished our meals, she brought the dessert menu, mentioned the specials and walked away. The wait staff were friendly. That's the only thing positive I would say about this restaurant. We decided to skip the apps to save room for the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. We started with the old fashioned and sleepy hollow cocktails. Both were delicious! I ordered the skirt steak and subbed fries instead of the cheesey rice and my husband and the homemade sourdough pappardelle with short rib ragu. The entrees were great! The marinade on the skirt steak had a great flavor and the fries were delicious. Moving on to the pumpkin cheesecake - so good! Far superior to pumpkin pie. The caramel sauce complimented it so well. We had a great dinner and would 100% return!
