We decided to have breakfast in our room but didn't have time to wait for room service so I called, ordered takeout & brought it upstairs. The pumpkin pancakes were good but no candied pecans and no extra syrup. Chicken and waffles were done well but the description should have said hot "spicy" honey not just hot honey, which I thought was honey warmed up like a syrup, also missing the candied pecans. While we enjoyed our breakfast I was disappointed that there wasn't anything extra added to the takeout bag, I would have had to go back downstairs to get the candied pecans and syrup. I was staying in the hotel right next door to Per Diem and figured I would try dinner here for the first night. So happy I did! Reallly enjoyed my meal and loved the ambiance of the restaurant. I ordered the chicken schnitzel which came with potatoes and salad and my boyfriend ordered the pork chops, which he couldn't stop raving about. The complimentary focaccia bread was delicious and I wish I could have had more. My only wish is that I would love to see a bit more on the menu since it seemed kind of limited. Creative cocktails using unique ingredients correctly like ground cherry, lavender and shiso, perfectly seasoned food with acidity and salt balanced in each dish, incredible service, locally sourced ingredients, incredible covid precautions, and beautiful setting. A stunning atmosphere that took me a minute to realize they had clear barriers up between every table. Staff are attentive and masked. This place feels special. Cocktails were phenomenal, and our waitress, Olivia, was so kind to find about every detail I wanted to know, getting me small samples to try of the exotic ingredients. Service wasn't exceedingly fast, but they are clearly understaffed. Extremely attentive to water and other drinks. The rooster verde pizza is one of the best pizzas our group of 4 had ever eaten. Sweet heat and acidity on a chewey, perfectly baked crust. We got 4 pizzas and they all were perfectly fine, but we will be back for the verde. Two diners dislike chicken liver but loved Per Diem's, and their burrata wasn't the fake stuff thats just a mass of mozzerella. This was hand spun with a creamy center. Focaccia clearly didn't skimp on the olive oil, which is the mistake of most Americans, and it was a decadent, satisfying crumb of moist herbs! The fried pickled green tomatoes were firm inside, and it's a mystery how they got such a good coating of crumb on the outside. As a southerner I was impressed. We had a reservation but manager was giving us a very hard time (rude) when we first walked up. I wasn't necessarily looking for a particular atmosphere, this was just the vibe I got. On the the food! The app selection was nice. The sprouts and pork belly were flavorful and something I would consider ordering again if I were to return. Entree and dessert options were average and nothing to write home about. Don't get me wrong, they didn't taste bad, but I expected a little bit...more.... More than a the burger that I could have picked up for half the price at any local pub or pizza joint. Of it wouldn't likely be organic / farm to table at those locations. Service was great. They did swap burgers at delivery which gave my wife a medium burger and myself one that was well done. This wasn't a big thing for me, so I'm going to just guess that the food runner was new and wasn't aware of the what the markers stuck in the burger were for. ‍ All in all... it's a mildly glorified Applebee's with the pricing of a hotel restaurant. I'm sure I'll return at some point in the future to give it another go. I'd like to see a slightly broader menu in the future. Wow, I can't believe this place hasn't closed up shop and thrown in the towel. We gave this place three tries, the third against our better judgement and only because others wanted to try it. The food took a long time to arrive. Then, when the promise of food finally had come, three of us received our meals while the other three waited 5 more minutes. Sit still and watch your clock for 5 minutes, quite a long time. Pizza was cold and the caesar salad was small and flavorless. When asked about substituting cauliflower for the fries on the kids menu, we were told "no substitutions." So, we ordered the cauliflower separate at $3.50 extra and threw the fries out. I've had better experiences in fast food restaurants. They obviously invested more money on the decor than they did on the actual business of being a restaurant. read more

Came here for Sunday brunch and I really liked the atmosphere! The facility is absolutely beautiful, with a great mix of greenery/plants, wooden/rustic elements, and an overall modern vibe. Our service was good, despite it being quite busy. The one thing I did not love, was that our table was not set properly before we sat down. We had no silverware/napkins when our first course came. I also did not enjoy being seated next to a bus tub for the kitchen. I feel like that's something that should be out of sight for customers. For the appetizer, we got the burrata. This came with arugula and pears, which were a delicious addition! For my meal, I got the pear and prosciutto salad, which had an absolutely delicious honey lemon vinaigrette dressing. I look forward to returning sometime to try some of their more "sweet" brunch items, like the Nutella and peanut butter waffle. Don't hesitate to try this place!! read more

Took our family for our daughter's 18th Birthday; and this new restaurant did not disappoint. Nice seating for a large group and although it was busy; it was not loud and we were able to talk to other comfortably. Food was excellent; starting with Mac-and-Cheese with Crab. Good size portion which we able to share with others at our table. A few of us had the Purple Potato Gnocchi which was excellent. Two in our group had the Tour Burger and said it was one of the best burgers they had ever had. Salmon, Pizza, and Chicken and Waffles were also tried at our table; and all very good and filling. So bummed. After an amazing first experience at Per Diem we went back to celebrate our anniversary as we were staying at Hotel Rock Lititz. My husband had raved about the rom Caesar salad last time so I chose that this time but the lettuce was soggy and there was not much to it. I also got the crab cake special which unfortunately was a lot of filler. The fries had old bay on them. They were fine. Honestly I felt unsatisfied with my dinner since I didn't eat much of it so I ordered dessert - the chocolate tart was incredible. This visit was on a Sunday evening around 7:30pm. It was pretty empty and we kind of felt that could have had something to do with it? We will return and give it another shot since we had such an amazing first experience but I would probably head back on a Friday or Saturday. read more

This was my third visit to Per Diem- the first being closer to when they opened. There has definitely been a positive change to the food quality and service since my first visit. I've tried several items from the current dinner and brunch menus and all were excellent. Our server was a delight. Food was really good here - and as others have said, very different than the area vibe/cuisine. Decor was modern rustic - cute! I ate at the bar and all of the bartenders were friendly, though they did seem a bit busy. Had to ask for things that normally they'd just ask to bring you - water, a food menu, cocktail, etc. But understandable because it was a full house. I ended up having the salmon with plantains and the maple glazed brussels sprouts (a special that night). The salmon was cooked perfectly - the skin was super crispy with the center still being perfectly cooked, and the chimichurri sauce had great flavor. The brussels were also cooked great - some a little charred, which complimented the sweet sauce so well. Next time I'm here for work I'll be excited to see what's on the menu, since I believe it changes seasonally read more

The first time we went here was on a friday night. It took a long time to get our food but the server made up for it by giving us a free round of drinks and truffle fries. The second time we came back, the server, Brian, remembered us from the last time and treated us really really well. Free apps & bread for the table. Delicious food, I personally really love the salad. Only negative thing is I asked for blackened chicken but they only charred the piece they gave me, rather than properly blackening it with the seasonings like they usually do in fancier restaurants. I love the ambiance here! It's a wonderful local restaurant and if you're a music lover, you might just see a band you know dining here or just walking into the hotel. I really wanted to love this place, being a rock n roll fan who is originally from Lancaster & having been well aware of the Clair Brothers & Tait connections to uber rock & country stages/tours. The Rock Lititz Hotel I heard was cool & quite nice & it definitely is, with a music/tour theme throughout and photos of stages built for the stars such as The Rolling Stones & U2 to Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift & Lady Gaga. The lobby is chic & modern and last night decorated with a lovely tree for Christmas. I give the decor 5 stars. Now for the service & food. We had reservations set over 3 weeks ago for a party of 7 at 7:15, this was the night before Christmas Eve, so technically not a holiday and a Monday to boot. Five in our party arrived early & attempted to get drinks at the bar which was crowded, as was the restaurant. They offer a happy hour as I understand, but my husband & I didn't arrive until 7. They tout a craft cocktail list, plus a few extra cocktails on the specials menu and then have craft beer; wine etc. Anyway the first 5 ordered various cocktails & by the time we arrived at 7, 15 min later, they had still only received 3 of the 5 drinks they ordered. So even though after a long day of traveling & having previewed the menu and knowing what drink I wanted I decided to wait until we were seated. We were seated promptly at 7:15 at a round table at the very back next to the kitchen. It worked but for some being next to the kitchen & service area would have been a minus. We had food menus, but only one drink menu & one specials menu none of which were explained by the server. The sever seemed overwhelmed & perhaps under trained. She was busy, but it came across immediately as impatient when she came to the table & saw some food had drinks and asked if they needed refills. Before we could look at the drink menu she said she'd explain the 2 specials tonight & then come back. I really wanted a drink by now, but my nephew suggested I not order what I had planned because that's what he had and he & the 2 others who tasted it did not like it. So I ordered what my niece had. Since I never got to see the drink menu I can't tell you what it was called but some kind of gin fizz. The others decided to order second drinks and after a 1/2 hour past no one had a single drink. We ordered 3 appetizers for the table & they were all fine. I'd say the tuna & fried Brussels were the best. The BBQ wings were good, but not out of the ordinary. I got my cocktail at 8:30 and thankfully it was delicious. It looked totally different from the cocktail my niece had ordered earlier (that was supposed to be the same drink). So it was literally almost an hour until we got our drinks. The server apologized twice saying "There's only one bartender & everyone seems to want cocktails". Which left me thinking "If you're going to offer a craft cocktail menu you better have enough bartenders to craft them!" That's the longest I've ever waited for a drink to be served. So I stuck with beer for my second drink. The beer was a can of hazy ipa which was cold & I enjoyed it and I didn't have to wait. I had the arugula & butternut salad, which was good. We all ordered pizzas, I guess thinking entrees could take long too. I had the Blanco and 2 others had gluten free crusts ordered for their pizzas. Our pizzas came out at the same time, but one was not gluten free crust so had to be sent back. My pizza was just average at best, not a lot of flavor & crust was hard on edges, but it was large enough to have 2-3 slices to take home depending on your hunger. So, Per Diem, you definitely need to step up bartending for your cocktails & maybe it's just that it was so close to the holidays & they were short staffed who knows? But we were underwhelmed unfortunately. However it is a cool place & I'd be willing to at least give the bar a second shot if I'm ever in the area again. read more

Underwhelming is the gist of Per Diem. My family and I came here to celebrate my Mother's birthday and were really excited to try out this new spot. Vibe is super cool in the new hotel, however the food and service do not match the upscale decor. The Beet Stracciatella was our favorite dish of the night, but everything else fell extremely flat. The Mac n' Cheese was basically just over cooked noodles in a cream sauce with a little green garnish on top. The Rom Kale Caesar was an uninspiring sloppy dish with a few uncut leaves of ornamental kale on the bottom of a romaine heart cut in half. My Mother's Purple Potato Gnocchi was probably the worst dish of the night. The Gnocchi was super thick and pasty and swimming in butter. The service tried, but seemed really inexperienced and not well trained for a restaurant that seemed to give off a more upscale vibe. To top it of, we had mentioned in our reservation and when we got to the restaurant that we were celebrating my Mom's birthday, even ordered dessert and didn't even get a dinky little candle! I don't think I've ever been to a restaurant where I've mentioned a birthday and they didn't do a thing! We weren't looking for a Chuck E Cheese dancing parade of singers, but something to make the night a little special for my Mom didn't seem like too much to ask. Over all, our drinks were good and I'd maybe come back here to sit at the bar, but the experience was super disappointing. I usually need some protein with my meal so I've stayed away from ordering the gnocchi. Boy was I missing out! I split wings and oysters with my friend (my protein) and had the wonderfulness of the gnocchi! The flavors were out of the world and the mushrooms (which I normally never eat) were delicious and added to the texture of the meal. Paired with my forever favorite cocktail, Fall in Love, I was a happy girl! My friends who grew up in Lancaster were visiting from LA and they said it had a very LA trendy vibe to it, nothing similar to it in Lancaster County since coming back. My friends enjoyed the salmon, the short rib and the burger and we were all happy! Something for everyone! So happy for this much needed addition to Lititz! read more

I've been here before but our waitress really went above and beyond for us! She had warned that the mussels were on the spicy side and my cousin is a bit sensitive to heat and had asked if she could try the sauce prior to making her decision. Our waitress was able to accommodate the request, brining out a sample to try. She also made wine recommendations as well as chatted with us about the area and past career paths. So, let's pretend that I have not spent my entire life in the hospitality industry. The service I received tonight at Per Diem was "horrible" - I wouldn't have described it that way, but that was the word the "manager" used. So I just want to be consistent and use the managers own words. The beginning was fine - Alycia - I believe was the servers name. We got our menus - she took our drink orders then took our dinner orders. All good. My Aunt and I and my 12 year old daughter talked and laughed and caught up. The very nice young man delivered our food. All was good. I do believe Alycia did check back with us once to be sure all was good. but that was it. my drink was empty and my aunts drink was close to empty ( yes, we both had a beer). No one ever checked back with us. The server was speaking with a couple that was seated next to us - the server was spending a lot of time talking with this couple. All good. I understand relating to and connecting with the client, but not at the expense of the other customers. We said loudly "excuse me" Can we order dessert? the waitress came over dropped menus on the table without saying a word - actually startling me. we ordered my daughters dessert. She got her dessert from a very nice young man. And then another red head waitress dropped our bill on the table - not our server/ waitress but someone else. Then this gal proceeded to the server station and started talking with who was our server, laughing and looking at us. I got up went over, and told them that I did not appreciate the service we had received. The red head asked what was the problem and I told her that we did not appreciate the way the bill was presented and the lack of service, and the attitude we received when my daughter order her dessert. She laughed. I asked to see the manager. A young gal come over and said" how was everything". I said "I assume you came over because I have complained about the service" she respond - I am sorry you had horrible service. What can I do for you?. My response - "nothing. if you realized i had horrible service, you should not ask me what do I want, but say " i am sorry you did not have superior service, I would like to make it right. Can I offer you a xx% off of your bill? Or I would like to comp your dessert - or something. I understand the canned response of " what do you want me to do"....but this was not one of those times. She was very flippant and unsympathetic. I am very disappointed in the service, and the management. I got better service from from the food expiditor. I have been to this establishment before and have sat the bar. There I received good food and good service. I was to leave a 20% tip. My aunt paid for our dinner tonight - and she still left the 20 % tip. If were up to me, Alycia should have paid for our dinner tonight and pay us 20%. These kids these days have to learn the true meaning of customer service. no customers means no pay. But maybe I am just a nobody from Lititz that doesn't count because I am not a not Katy Perry or Madonna or Mick Jagger. Sorry that my money doesn't have the same value as them. I welcome a response. Stopped in for brunch with some friends. I thought the place was pretty cool for the small town of Lititz. I felt the service could have been a bit better. When there are only 4 tables in the place, you would think our server could be found. If your filling up coffee at our table, why not ask if others would like to have our coffee filled? I thought that was very strange. We asked for pepper and I was told it must be stuck together in the shaker... that's weird... that shouldn't happen... however it was empty and it took about 5 minutes for her to bring it back to the table. I would think you just grab one from the empty table next to us, and go fill the shaker on your own time so my food doesn't get cold before the pepper comes back. Anyway we got the Avocado Toast for breakfast, with a side of bacon. It looked extremely appetizing, however I think the balsamic was a bit excessive, so I didn't really enjoy it.
