A coworker recently recommended I try the Peppermill. So I stopped in for the first time this morning. First off the front of house staff were friendly and attentive! I ordered the Peppermill Benedict with hash browns and black coffee. The coffee was quite good. I was asked a very odd question- how did I want my eggs poached. Soft or hard? The answer to that question is actually in the definition of "poached egg". (Look it up). I said "soft as opposed to hard. The very monochromatic plate came out with pale hash browns and a river of hollandaise covering everything else. I cut through the Benedict and it was like cutting a bag of water open, the egg white was barely set and uncooked egg white ran everywhere. (I know I should have stopped here, but i hate sending food back, that's my own neurosis). The tomato and avocado were perfectly ripe. The English muffin was ok. But everything else makes me absolutely sure that they do not employ a chef here and even so the kitchen staff should feel ashamed of themselves. The "ham" was several slices of ham lunch meat. The hollandaise sauce was poured from a jar. Or bucket. The potatoes came from a box, while that does not necessarily turn me off - but cook them long enough that there is some color on them and please add at least a little seasoning. On the short trip home I felt queasy, but I did make it home before I had to get rid of it . Bottom line, I'm going to have to reevaluate everything my coworker has ever told me. I was recommended the Peppermill by a server at a nearby restaurant. It was good...not great. I was thrilled thought to see they serve breakfast seven days a week. The server appeared to be the bartender as well, and there were very few in the restaurant. A few gentlemen were having beers and breakfast before golfing and they appeared to be regulars. It took too long for the server to come to the table to greet me, and then it took took long also for the server to take my order. I waited and waited and a few others were receiving food, and the server came to my table and asked me if I decided. I told her I had already given the order to her. Hmmm? I believe she forgot to ring it in, as I heard her call the cook her hero when was my plate of food was up. The food was good. The french toast was perfect, the over-easy eggs were excellent, but the sausage links appeared to be overcooked. It also seemed they were deep fried...I hope not. What really gets me is the "cold" syrup that is served with the french toast. Why pour cold syrup on hot food?? I have seen this too often in restaurants...just heat the syrup up. The remodel that was done a couple of years ago I was told is excellent. I do feel the booth tables are too low to the seat. I will need to try it again, especially on Prime Rib Wednesday, which I was told occurs on the first Wednesday of each month, and the breakfast is worth another attempt. read more

Rating: 3.5 stars Came here with a group of five on a Friday night. It has the typical neighborhood/dive bar vibes. The bar was pretty crowded because of a UO vs UW game going on in the background and cleared out pretty quickly once the game ended. Seating is open and you can pick to sit down wherever you want. There are some large booths available which were great to sit at. Service was a bit on the slower side though because it seemed like they may have been understaffed. The bartender that came over to help us though was friendly. They also have some pool tables and shooting arcade games in the back that you can pay to play. My friends decided to grab a round of scooby snack shots which were very tasty and reminded me of being back in college again haha. All in all, an average bar experience with some small games available as well. read more

Been there six times in the last two weeks and had food five of the six times. Has a large gaming area with pool table, dart boards, and video gambling machines, a typical suburban plaza sports bar vibe with enough room for large groups and tables, booths line the walls and bar seating. Overall, food is inconsistent: After having food there five times and appetizers twice, I find the cooking hit or miss. They seem to have some specials that looked okay, and I think it depends how good it will be based on the cook on duty. Breakfast menu is decent but quality is not consistent. Side orders like nachos were served cold with Velveeta cheese, morsels of chicken, and not much else. So bad that even my teenage daughters didn't finish them. Wings were okay, and they have a selection of sauces that you can mix and match. They have a large selection of beers, nice pours on liquor and some drink specials are good like - $6 Bloody Mary's. Service is spotty - hit or miss and of the 4 or 5 servers I've had, most seem distracted. A few regulars confirmed this as we watched games on the numerous screens. While the spacious place has close to 20 screens, they'll play the same game on many of them and have trouble navigating to put on games after polite requests from customers. For example, 7 or 8 screens were playing the same college football game when there were at least that many games on. Behind one bar, there were three screens in a row - and two other guys and myself asked two different bartenders if they could put on two college games, instead of one, and the NFL game on the third screen. They just couldn't seem to handle what is normally a simple request at other bars with multiple screens. They tried a couple of times and then just gave up. If I continue to go to the Peppermill,, it will be to meet my buddy for breakfast or a beer in the afternoon ONLY if I he calls me first and tells me they have someone who knows how to change channels. read more

We are from outta town and need a place to watch college football with friends and family. First of all the rating here are brutal. Lower your expectations people, you need to realize that this is a divey sports bar. The food is supposed to be hangover greasy pub food and there should be 100 TVs, pool tables, huge bar, and this place has all of this! I absolutely feel sorry for the girls who are working Sunday mornings...not only are they obviously short staffed, the manager is a disgrace. I watched this man for over an hour and have to say I am disgusted. The only table I saw him put attention into was a young, pretty blonde girl by herself. There were several other tables that came in during that hour that sat and waited for a long time to be served and it was obvious he could care less because they weren't young and pretty. I watched him drink a Red Bull while conversating with a guy at the bar while the lady next to them waited for close to 15 minutes with her credit card in hand to cash out. At the tail end of the hour, a table walked out because, in my opinion, he was not supporting his staff properly. And I have close to 20 years of restaurant experience to know what I'm looking at. i have eaten here for several years and played video porker and lately have not been happy with the service. especially the woman at the bar, i think her name is sheila. she has been there for awhile and i think she is not very nice, she takes for ever to get her attention to order food or drinks. when you want to cash in a lottery ticket or anything for that matter she avoids eye contact like she is ignoring you. i think she is very rude except to regular customers. the food is good but i would not recommend going in there if she is working. read more

This is a second review of this neighborhood eatery. My initial review was very positive and glowing. Unfortunately my second review is not. First let me share that the wait staff at Peppermill Lounge has always been wonderful. My concerns are: 1. It seems adequate staffing might be an ongoing issue. Our waitress this morning was working alone, covering the cafe and the lounge. The extended wait times are too common and frequent. 2. Your food had better be so outstanding that customers are willing to tolerate the long wait times. I have had some very good meals here. Unfortunately, my last meal there was very poor. I ordered the Spanish Omelette. This omelette included tomatoes, green chilies, diced ham, onions, cheese then it is topped with sour cream and salsa. I am guessing that the tomatoes and green chilies are canned and likely sitting in liquid/water because my omelette was soaked and oozing water from the filling ingredients. I did not think to complain about my food quality at the time. I should have spoken up but did not. I hate being the complainer. Upon leaving I thought about my disappointment and decided to address my concerns on Yelp. I suppose I can be a complainer after all. Hopefully justified. I would never serve an omelet like that to someone in my house. It bothers me to think the kitchen staff made such a sad omelet then thought nothing of allowing it to be served to a paying customer. Went to catch NBA playoff game 5/22/2024. Everything went great, service, vibe, drinks. Ordered the Tuna Melt. Within 30 minutes I felt a queasy feeling in my stomach, which got worst as I went home lay down feeling like I was getting sick. Chills and aches . Threw up twice in next couple hours. Wanted to share with manager and suggest they pull the Tuna offline and discard. I left my name and number but he did not return my call so I'm posting. Great local sports bar with good drinks and great portions. Plenty of room and excellent hospitality.

They call this clam chowder. Unfortunately, it's just a basic bland potato soup. I found 1 actual bite of clam and 2 small pieces of celery in with large chunks of mushy potato that got stuck on my spoon. I could see pieces that might have been minced clams, but there was no clam flavor whatsoever. Soups used to come with garlic bread, and that is now an upcharge. Service was fast & friendly. Fun place to watch the game! The bar and resteraunt are separated by a wall so if you go during food hours ots kid friendly. But the bar is narrow with places to sit and an area to play pool. It can get crowded on busy nights but for the most part it's pretty spacious. They have really good weekly deals and often times have promos where you can get free samples and win some prizes. Absolutely the worst staff imaginable. Like many have mentioned before in past reviews, nothing has changed. The staff will not serve you for at least 35 minutes consistently. I got 86'd for absolutely no reason. I always tip well and am very polite yet got 86d when others around me got riled up. The staff are quick to 86 customers whilst at the same time not serving the ones that they don't 86. Absolute garbage bar, do not waste your time or money here. You will not get served and you might get 86'd just because the guy next to you was a little too loud or rude. read more

Back to Peppermill for breakfast this morning. I had the Triple Berry Sweedish ( it was spelled that way on the white board) pancake special, with scrambled eggs and bacon. Good, although there was too much berry compote liquid and not quite enough whole berries, it was still tasty. Princess had a grilled ham and cheese ( ok, did I mention we slept in?it was about noon) and french fries. Also half of one of my pancakes, and some of my bacon, and chocolate milk. She was happy.Her bread was a little dark, but she dissected the sandwich anyway (as usual) and ate the contents... she's odd like that. Think Wednesday Adams meets Dakota Fanning, that's Princess. Princess' dad had a Western Omelet ( peppers, onions, ham, mushrooms, tomatoes, cheese) and hash browns, wheat toast. His omelet had the ingredients all through the egg, rather than inside the folded egg, you know what I mean? like a folded over frittata more than a traditional omelet. He said it wasn't bad, just kinda odd. Coffee good, server nice, water refilled when asked... still a decent morning choice after a grumpy Saturday. (don't ask). Breakfast makes us happy. Peppermill just remodeled and it looks fabulous! The food is very tasty especially the tuna melt, burgers and nachos. They have a good selection of beers on tap but would benefit from having a nice Golden (I think they carried Dale's) and a better NA option like Athletic. read more

***Updated Review*** So today the consensus amongst the church croud was to skip Antoni's Restaurant and go to Peppermill..apparently some people (not I) were unhappy with the service they had been receiving. So we went to Peppermill. This wasn't my first (or 2nd, or 3rd) choice, but i decided to try something new. My choice was the corned beef hash. On first reciept the potatoes were basicly raw. There was no cohesion to the plate. The corned beef was rendered fairly well and kind of resembled bacon, but the potatoes, onions, and small green squares which i think were supposed to be green peppers were just soggy and bland. I expressed my disappointment to our server and i was delivered attempt #2. It was slightly better. At least there was an aspect of crunchiness to it, but it was still pretty bland. Hope we go to Antoni's next week. ***Edit*** So just wanted to say that the server was very nice and took 50% off of my meal. Excellent sercice and attitude. read more

This place is not my speed really but it might be yours. Its challenging for me to find something on the menu. I am just not that into fried food and the salad I ordered sounded good but I was charged like $13 for a salad which was basically iceberg lettuce - and my friend had a coupon. I can spend far less money and get an amazing array of food. I remember now why we stopped coming here. It's Friday night. The bar is fully staffed and the place isn't fully at all. The service sucks. I don't one star very easily but THIS. Incompetent no service is just my biggest pet peeve. After sitting at our table for almost 15 minutes, we had to go get our menu. The waitress didnt even ask if wantes to order drinks. She's too busy talking to the regulars. She also passed our table twice. Twice. I mean when there are three people standing behind the bar serving drinks to 3 people sitting at the bar, who the hell is working the floor? The last time we were here was for lunch. Service sucked. It's not even a fully busy Friday night and service sucks. I remember now why we stay away. And you should stay away as well unless horrible service is what you're looking for. No "Hello". Rather surprised by this. Partner and I went for Sunday brunch. From the reviews, I had been expecting good food with a customer service problem, and neither was quite so. We had typical breakfast stuff that in my case was very bland and variable in cooking/temperature (some potatoes tough, some cold). Nothing had a lot of flavor, so if you are allergic to strong flavors you might really like this place. I like strong flavors, however, and did not find them. The service, however, was redemptively good. Everything one could ask for, including a typical diner-style waitress with all the outgoing personality that a typical Westerner finds welcoming and friendly and bantery. Since the food's the main thing, I can't rate the restaurant very high, but the problem seems to lie with the kitchen rather than the service. Longtime customer here, I think I mostly enjoy several Peppermill Restaurant Servers more than the food. Biggest complaint I have is that a simple cheeseburger, fries and a soda is over $12.00 (before tip) which is pretty horrible for mediocre and sometimes poor tasting 'dead food.' There are better values in lunch around and have better burgers and fries, like Annies up on TV highway, or the $9 cheeseburger and homemade cut fries over at Westgate on Cedar Hills....which is amazing! Breakfast is pretty high priced as well and Peppermill has little to offer when it comes to normally very high quality Portland grub....think greasy, burpy and gassy...just saying. read more
