Today, I stopped in to the Pepperdock Restaurant for my first time ever. As a Seattle native, I guess I thought that I've been here before, but nope. I chose to take a seat along the window, it's a light tight, close to the ice cream display, but the view is well worth it! I had a great combination of ice cream and cheeseburger and fries. The cheeseburger, didn't really look like much, but the flavor was great. The fries are some of the best I've had in recent times. They were crunchy outside and cooked to perfection. Pepperdock is an order-at-the-counter burgers/fish and chips shop in West Seattle near Alki beach. I stopped in with some friends right before closing. Two of them ordered the low-floor, low-ceiling staple known as chicken strips and fries. I had the fish sandwich, which came with a generous portion of breaded cod, tomato, lettuce, and tartar sauce. The fish was tender and well seasoned, and large enough to shine through the bread and sauce. My side of cole slaw wasn't too heavy on the mayo and had enough acidity to give me the likely false satisfaction that I had made a healthy choice. If you want ice cream while hanging on Alki Beach, this is the place to go. The prices and reasonable and the portions are huge. It was 4.50 for a single and 5.50 for a double in a waffle cone, and a dollar less for a sugar cone or bowl. The ice cream itself is super tasty with lots of real ingredients inside. We got the black cherry (with real cherry bits), coconut pineapple (with real coconut meat), and pistachio almond (with real almond chunks). So many great flavours to choose from, will definitely be going back. The line was out the door but it went by very fast, and the staff was super friendly and welcoming. As far as beach burger grease joints go, Pepperdock is one of the best I've seen. Pepperdock's location is great, right smack in the middle of Alki beach and easy walking distance from your towel. The inside of the restaurant is a throwback -- I'd imagine it hasn't been significantly updated since the 80s. The decor and tables are just a little cluttered and cramped, but not too bad -- most people will want to take their food to go and sit on the beach anyway. The menu is located overhead above the order counter and is a little confusing for first-time visitors (no descriptions, just item names), so expect to stand in line a little while as customers ask their questions to the order-taker. Although it would be nice if there were a place where the items were described in more detail (to shorten line wait times), it's really not that bad. At prime lunchtime on a hot Saturday afternoon, the wait to order was only about 10-15 minutes. The kids behind the counter were super friendly and helpful. I tried a burger, fries, and a hot dog. All of them were cooked up fresh to order (you can watch them grill it up) and were delicious. Portion sizes were generous for the price and location. Overall, this was an excellent place to grab a quick bite and I look forward to coming back next time I'm in Alki. read more

I didn't get a chance to try their food, and will be back to update my review at a later time when I do. I am sure that I have, but it must of been a long time ago. Anyways, this review goes to the ice cream they serve. If there is a sign up sheet to be a fan of their ice cream, sign me up! They are made very uniquely and something I have never tried before. I had the birthday cake ice cream (my most favorite kind) and my significant had the bubble gum ice cream (which is one of they're most popular flavors). The birthday cake ice cream was blended just right with the amount of dough crunch! Very delicious, not too sweet or bland. Just right. As far as for the bubble gum, it was absolute genius to put small bubble gum inside it. It make the experience feel like you ARE really eating a bubble gum ice cream. The sweetness is just right. Love the atmosphere of the place, and is pretty clean inside. It is right in front of the beach area, with the right amount of cold breeze flowing inside. Pepperdock is an Alki. In a hot day, it's a great spot to grab an ice cream cone and decent food. I've gotten ice cream there a handful of times and a burger once too. Honestly, if you're looking for a burger, then I'd recommend going to Blue Moon. That's not to say Pepperdock isn't good, just I like the burgers at Blue Moon more. What I go to Pepperdock for is scoop of rich, creamy chocolate or coffee ice cream. I'm simple. Give me an ice cream cone on a hot day and I'm set. read more

Let me help you out here - I'm gonna lead you right to the breaded mushrooms! Absolutely the best (and biggest!) mushrooms I have ever had. A customer in the restaurant saw them on my table and asked me if they were hush puppies. No, but the mushrooms were so fat they coulda been confused for hush puppies. The ranch dipping sauce was okay, but I went ahead and made my own improvised dipping sauce using the squirt bottles of mustard, mayo and catsup that were on my table. The burgers here automatically come with fries. Typical charbroiled burgers, really nothing more to say than that. The was a foursome at the table next to me. One of the ladies could have just walked out of "Real Housewives of Orange County", with all the bling she was wearing. I don't know why she kept talking to the older woman in such a condescending and loud voice. It was embarrassing. For a burger and fries at scenic Alki Beach, I would say prices are quite reasonable. I have seen this place lingering as long as I can remember. I think its the memory of better that brought me back. Its not that it was bad, but really everything was frozen or prepackaged. I had a craving for a burger and this place just seemed to tug at me. Reviews said yes. Ok so I came and ordered the king cheeseburger. So here I am thinking that they must certainly make their own patties since its obviously better and cheaper, and instead on the grill went the preformed patty which shrank pretty substantially indicating not the highest quality. Ok I tell myself maybe its gonna be great. So I wait and the order with fries and 3 onion rings was substantial but in all honestly too much food by far so a fail in food costs. Sadly, memories are better than the real thing. Cheeseburger: This is like school cafeteria food. The bacon on it was not cooked to order and it was actually pretty sad looking. Take a look at the pic I posted. So it had some shredded lettuce and mayo. I doubt they cut that lettuce it looked like it was out of the bag. Also they have two push tubs for ketchup and mustard. Seriously you cant fill little squirt bottles? So its not the easiest to dress this. It was greasy, heavy, the bread was cheap and they had processed cheese. That is the biggest crime I think. It just was a sad uninspired low value meal that is a shame because this place is on the beach and facing the sound! It should be gourmet! What the hell its not that hard to achieve a great burger! Disappointing. Onion Rings: Thin and clearly frozen. Pretty tasteless. Again why are you not making these from scratch? Food costs are always much better as is quality using fresh ingredients. Fries: Clearly frozen and probably the best thing I ate. Still they did not season them at all, not even salt. The best time to season something is as soon as it leaves the fryer. So in short this is a frumpy run down place with frumpy run down food. I dont think whoever has this knows anything about cooking or has never trained in any decent restaurants. I dont want to hate on them and that is not my point but a restaurant should be more than reheating frozen cheap food. There is no pride in food here, either in presentation, composition, taste or quality. Everything is frozen including the fish that I saw the other table eating. The batter would be a dead give away. Also the decor is disjointed, old country and just sad like no one cares. This place needs an intervention and sadly its probably not gonna happen. Could you imagine if someone with a palate and vision came into this place and realized the potential of the location? First time here! Food is so delicious! We tried the fish and chips with onion rings, garden burger, fish burger, and fries. The seasoning they put on their fish and onion rings is so different and so good. These were the best onion rings we've ever had. I went for the first time for ice cream and chocolate syrup on top. It was a very good first visit experience. The lady was extremely nice, sweet and personable; and complemented my two dogs. I went a second time and the gentleman was NOT as pleasant. I ordered the same thing. I made a mistake asking for fudge chocolate. He said they don't have fudge chocolate. I explained it was a chocolatey syrup that the lady used when I came before. Instead of stating the type of syrup they carried; he asked what lady. I explained I did not know her name but come to find out it was his wife. He became very combative wanting to argue the fact that they don't have fudge chocolate so I told him whatever chocolate you have which apparently they only have one type. He continued badgering me about fudge being different than chocolate syrup. Not sure why he continued on and on about me referring to the chocolate as fudge when we already established what I was referring to. His demeanor was very combative and condescending. His tone was belittling and I told him at the end of the day as a customer I want chocolate on the ice cream; chocolate is chocolate. Then when I went to pay, it was two dollars more than I paid the first time. My neighbor and I left and was completely baffled by his degrading and condescending behavior. He was very unprofessional and combative. I will never go there again and have shared my experience with everyone and will never recommend them. read more

A decent place to grab something to eat while over wandering Alki Beach. For only a few bucks you can grab a burger, veggie burger or chicken sandwich. We were over in west Seattle doing errands when we realised that we were both quite peckish. The boyfriend grabbed a couple of slices across the street. I wasn't quite in a pizza mood so I thought I'd check out this place. It looked a little rundown but it was pretty busy. And since I never judge a place by its exterior, I headed in and didn't mind the wait. The burgers looked and smelled good. I ordered a bacon burger with mushrooms and Swiss with fries on the side. Next time I'll skip the fries, they were just okay. The burger though... THAT was quite good. The bacon was crisp and the mushrooms were perfectly sautéed. I took my burger and sat at one of the few outside tables. The inside tables were all full and the only open table was beside a family that had been brusque with the teenaged counter help. Sadly zero stars is not an option. First I am not one to leave negative reviews but tonight's interaction deserves attention. I entered the restaurant at 7:45pm with my service dog wearing his vest and was immediately told dogs were not allowed they quickly corrected themselves with 'oh it's a service dog'. I placed my order and the counter help told the cook to stop cleaning because they had more people coming in. I asked if they were closed and was told no they were just cleaning because they close at 8pm. They did not seem happy to have my business, should have walked away then. I went outside with my dog and friend, the dog was tugging at me a little as he does before an episode begins. When I walked in to get my food they told me it was illegal to put a service vest on an non service animal. I informed him that he was a service dog and he continued to argue with me. I provided them with an ADA pamphlet for their knowledge and have contacted my attorney. It is absolutely unacceptable for anyone to harass me because of my disability or the behavior of my dog as you do not know what he is trained for. This entire interaction took place with the owner Song. I do not recommend Pepperdock. Blue Moon is just down the street and worth the wait they have never questioned me about my dog. read more
