    Cod and fries

Food was hot. Tasty Customer Service was excellent. Five star review will return here soon.

    Very tasty Cod and Prawns

Very tasty I had the special 2 Cod, 3 Prawns with Chips. Loved the crispy breading on the fish and shrimp. I'm not a "French Fry Guy" but these chips were tasty and crisp. Small shop , mostly takeout I assume but there are a few tables for dining in. Staff/owners were very kind and welcoming

The fish and chips were really the star of the show. The sides were such a disappointment. Cole slaw was $4 and had no seasoning, kinda watery and bland. Mac n cheese was the biggest disappointment. For $7 the portion was small with over cooked noodles and a sauce curdy and flavorless. The noodles literally stuck together while also being so brittle since it's over cooked. The Mac n cheese are pre-made, portioned into these containers and finished off by Chef Mic(rowave). At this point, we were kind of rethinking our life decisions and wondered why we walked into this establishment in the first place. Only thing that saved the meal was the fish and chips. The fish was crunchy and so tender. It just melted in your mouth. The fries also didn't disappoint nor was it something epic. Service was also amazing, the lady was kind and threw in an extra piece of fish.

Wow! Their fish and prawns with chips/fries were amazing! Nice batter, delicious seafood! I would come back in a heart beat //CONTEXT// I was staying in West Seattle and was craving seafood and specifically fish and chips! This place popped up so I had to check it out! //ENVIRONMENT// There's lots of parking on the side street. It's a small shop with maybe 3-4 small tables and more is for Togo however I ate inside. It's a very casual spot and no frills and clean. //FOOD// I ordered the fish and chips (I feel like I ordered the one piece but might have gotten the two piece?) and added three prawns to my order. I also ordered coleslaw and clam chowder and a drink. The fish and chips were so delicious! None of those frozen fish sticks here lol. The size was perfect and the batter was light and crisp. The fries were also delicious and had a light bay/cajun like seasoning. Prawns were YUM! A good chunky size and also well battered! Chowder was good but nothing too crazy too call out. Coleslaw was so yummy! Sweet but light and refreshing! //PRICE// I definitely over ordered for myself and it ended up being about $40-$45 but I definitely don't think I needed all that food. Since I was traveling I just wanted to try everything. //SERVICE// The lady was very nice who I believe was Probably the owner //OVERALL/// Highly recommend this spot!

Perfectly fried cod with chips and vinegar.

I've been wanting to stop here to try their food ever since they opened, but I'm always on the way to somewhere else. Today I knew I'd be driving past them right about lunch time on my way home, and I made my plan. The employees were super-friendly and it didn't take long at all to get my to-go order though it was made fresh on the spot. I still had a 10-minute drive home, and I can say that my order of cod and chips held up perfectly - cooled just enough to eat without burning my tongue, but the batter was still crunchy-crisp and the fries were creamy inside, just a little crisp outside like perfect British chips should be. The flavor was great with just a side of malt vinegar and a few squeezes of the lemon wedge they included. I'm sorry it took me so long to get there and I'll definitely be back!

The prawns are not to be missed if you're a fan of prawns, big and crispy! My family did a tour of Fish & Chips while in Seattle, this seemed to be the favorite of all 8 of us! We hit about 5 different fish and chips spots. Great fish, crispy light breading. Their clam chowder wasn't my favorite. Wish I could describe why, but I just didn't love it. The interior has three small 2 person tables and some chairs, but no AC, really warm on the Seattle hot days. Seems locals know to order takeout, a lot of people were in and out picking up orders. The owners were super sweet and kind, spot is the definition of a small, family business.

This fish and chips restaurant is fantastic. The family has owned it for many years and they are so welcoming and friendly. The restaurant is mainly setup for ToGo it seems since Covid but I think there is a table or two if you'd like to stay and eat. The fish we got was the cod and it was fantastic. The tartar sauce is fresh and it all was tasty. The fries had a nice crisp. Overall I highly recommend you stop by and support this local business. Enjoy!

I came in for the first time about 30 minutes before closing and was welcomed by the most patient, kind young man who never made me feel rushed. The fish burger was fantastic. Perfectly cooked, incredibly fresh tasting, and one of those sandwiches where after the first bite you immediately know someone in the kitchen actually cares. Easily one of the better fish sandwiches I've had around Seattle recently. The chowder was the only thing that held me back slightly. For my personal taste it was a bit more watery than I typically prefer, as I usually lean toward a thicker richer chowder. That said, the flavor itself was excellent and honestly overcame most of that initial thought after a few bites. What truly stood out though was the service. Absolutely fantastic people here. Genuine, attentive, welcoming, and the kind of staff that makes a place memorable beyond just the food. That level of attentiveness and care honestly feels rare nowadays and they deserve full marks for hospitality alone. Overall this place left a very strong impression on me. Great seafood, quality ingredients, and a spot I'm genuinely looking forward to revisiting soon. I can already tell this may end up becoming a regular stop for me after another visit or two.

You don't see that anywhere else, and this place has moved into one of my new top five fish-and-chip joints. No need to explain what I already ordered; we just happened to come here on a random trip. Figured we'd check it out before we catch the ferry to Seattle, stop over here at Proper Fish. Next time, I want to ask for mushy peas because I like my veggies. I kind of liked it, but definitely haven't experienced that with fish before. The fish itself, cod, was fine--not much flavor but that's cod. The tartar sauce was a standout: obviously homemade with a great lemon flavor. The fries: these tasted like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite a while. Warm but not crispy (except the tiny bits). Considering that there was an almost continuous flow of English fish and chips coming out of the kitchen and they were super busy, it's bizarre the fries weren't fresh. Almost flavorless. Cod chowder: I honestly couldn't tell which chunks were cod and which were potato. Super bland.
