DO NOT GO HERE! THESE PEOPLE ARE THIEVES, CROOKS, AND LIARS! I went here to repair a leak on ONE of my tires. It wasn't flat and I was able to drive on it. Multiple things went very wrong for what should have been a very simple repair. First, they couldn't find the key to the wheel lock. They spent forever looking for it and then told me they were gonna have to break the wheel lock off (for an additional charge ofcourse). I asked to look myself and was able to find it in two seconds. It was in plain view on the back seat floor, which is where I told them to look. In the midst of all this, the guy tries to sell me 4 new tires for $890. Mind you there is absolutely nothing wrong with the rest of my tires. My car is only 3 years old and was brand new straight off the lot. I am the only person to ever drive this car. In the middle of his spiel, I tell him no but he ignores me and keeps going. I say no because there is absolutely nothing wrong with my other tires. The entire time I sat in the waiting room they were trying to sell people crap and offer "coupons". Eventually, They are able to look at the wheel and then let me know it just needed a plug. The total came out to $24. I was more than happy with this, thanked them, and got in my car to leave. When I get in my car, it lights up like a Christmas tree. It's saying the collision sensor and a couple of other things are malfunctioning. I go back in and let them know. Then they tell me the battery charge must be low because it may have gotten "cold". I don't know how my battery would've gotten "cold" in the few hours they had my car at that point. Also, why were they doing anything with the battery when I was there for a tire. They claimed they just needed to charge the battery and it would be a quick fix. Annoying, but fine and I go back to the wait room. After about 45 minutes, they come and tell me my battery has magically "died". Again, this car is brand new and only 3 years old. I had a used car from the same brand for much longer that never needed a battery the entire time I had it. There was nothing wrong with my battery beforehand and I got an oil change not too long ago and nothing was wrong with the battery then. They tell me I'm going to need an ENTIRELY NEW BATTERY for $300! Naturally, after this I become irate. I told them it doesn't make sense for my battery to die out of nowhere from the time I brought it into to the shop til then. The guy is giving me an endless amount of excuses about how he's had the same thing happen where he goes to a dealership for one thing and they find a bunch of other issues. During the exchange, the mechanic who worked on the car was standing there and in the middle of it he leaves and goes back to my car. I tell the guy at the counter to give me my damn keys and I'm taking it to another dealership to look at. He brings the car and lets me know that the warning messages have gone away and everything looks fine now. Isn't that funny :) ? 5 minutes prior I had a dead battery that needed to be replaced right away and now it's magically fixed. There is not a doubt in my mind that once they realized the initial repair would cost next to nothing, they messed with the sensors in my car and gave me some bullshit story about the battery. After I made quite the scene, told them I wasn't going to buy a new battery, and would take it to another dealership, the mechanic undid whatever damaged he caused to the sensors to get me out of there and cover their asses. These people are SALESMAN. The only thing they care about is pocketing as much of your money as possible and will try to sell you crap you don't need and even go as far as messing with your vehicle. AVOID THIS SHOP AT ALL COSTS UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SCAMMED AND LIED TO. read more

Alright needed new tires. Searched several places online. Found tires here that had a sale which included free installation. Issue was that the deal ended before I got back to Alabama. I worked with the ladies in the office several days. They ordered the tires for me and let me prepay for them so I could get the promotion. Great appointment set for 12.4.21 @ 10am. I arrive at 9:39am. I go in give my info and keys and proceed to walk the parking lot to get my workout out the way. An older guy came in after me. They got him right in without an appointment. Okay. Maybe the guys that do what I needed are working on the others cars in the bay. Lady arrives 20 minutes later and goes inside. It's now 10:30. They go and pull her in and I'm thinking wtf. I go ask when will I be started and He asks which car like he didn't just check me in. He goes and tell the guy to go ahead and pull me in and they take the other car out and pull me in. Im trying to be understanding and not let all these previous reviews scare me but wtf are y'all doing? Now I'm watching the guy search my car like the cops looking for my wheel lock instead of just asking me where it is. Im slightly worried at this point. The job was completed and I prepaid for my service so I was given my receipt and all set togo. Sabrina was nice and friendly and I appreciated her and her rapport. The tires seems fine for now so I just need to go get them washed up to get all the markers off them. read more

Save your time and money!!! I took it to them out of convenience due to most mechanics being closed on the weekend. They took over a day to run a simple diagnostic test and say there was nothing wrong. I had to call them to get updates. I got my car back, still had the same issue. I took it back so they could correct it, they quoted me over $900. I took it to a more trusted mechanic to get another opinion, turns out they weren't close and it was only a $200 fix. As a single mom with enough worries to bear, it's nice to go into an auto repair establishment and be treated with honest service. Not what I got here. A gentleman recommended I go to Pep Boys to get a read on my car's check engine light. I figured I would get my oil changed while I was at it. I have used Pep Boys in the past for a FREE diagnostic. But the gentleman was quick to tell me it would cost $99 to do a diagnostic! I didn't even bother to ask about an oil change and walked right on out with a thank you. I called and asked over the phone and got the answer I should have gotten at the store, "We don't have a technician available to do that today but we can on Saturday." Fine, no problem. That is fair. So I went down the street to another business for better service and will continue going there because they have proven to be honest. read more

Went early to get an oil change done. Got in and asked the manger (Jason) how long it would be. He said there was one car in front of me that they were finishing an oil change for and I would be next. So I sat there literally for 2 hours and watched them get 3 customers in and out before they started on mine. A lady came in about 9ish and asked what I was getting done, I guess she was a cashier? Told her that I was getting an oil change and had been there for 2 hours already. She came back and said that they were working on it and that it took some time to drain the oil. I can clearly see my vehicle from the window in the lobby so I was watching the whole time. They just so happened to be working on another person's car at the same time as mine, and of course got them out in a timely manner. Then the manager comes in and tells me that they broke my wheel lock key. Then he also tells me that I would have to be the one to go to chevrolet and get it replaced. The broken piece was left in the bolt. This is the worst customer service we have ever experienced. It's complete bullshit that they break something and tell the customer that they would have to go somewhere else to fix their fuckup. This is not the first time they were very subpar with customer service. But this is definitely the last time they will receive any support from us. 100 percent won't recommend this shop to anybody even our worst enemy! read more

I have given this place too many chances. Took 2 hrs for an oil change, when I had an appointment, and all the bays were empty. Another time I went I asked for mobil1 oil and they didn't give me that and they told me I had to ask for that specifically, when I did when I made the appointment and when I dropped off vehicle. Another time I asked for a tire rotation and they didn't do it, how do I know? Because one of the rims is scratched and was in the same location. read more

I want to give less than a one star! Visited this location for a simple oil change. It took an extremely long time even though they were not busy. As I went to pay and leave the manager referenced the difficulty they had removing my oil filter. I leave the store to only get a call back saying they think oil was leaking from my car. I returned immediately and was told all should be ok now. Well a week or so later I notice oil drips in my garage so I returned to the location and was told there was no problem. I returned to my regular maintenance guy to learn that a piece had been broken on my car from Pep Boy's attempt to remove my filter. I called the store and per conversation with the manager the tech that serviced my car was no longer employed there and that he would order the part. That was a month ago. The service manager (Jason Jordan) at the Pelham, AL location is absolutely terrible. I took my 2015 Dodge Challenger in to have four tires mounted, balanced & aligned. My wheel speed sensor was damaged by the service technician (Matthew S.) during the alignment. Jason offered to replace the sensor free of charge, but the part wouldn't arrive until the following week & he still wanted to charge me for labor even though his technician was responsible. I asked him how much labor would cost & his response was, "We're pretty busy right now. I really don't have time to look into it." Feeling completely disrespected, I left the store. Probably the absolute worst place to take your automobile. They have had my truck for over 24 hrs now and I'm still waiting to have my tire replaced. One was still under warranty and they are telling me it is not. I have lost a lot of potential customers due to their incompetence. My son got 4 new tires on his truck from Montevallo tire and was in and out. I just needed two. Now I will have to settle for one since I have been told that there is no record of road hazard . Ridiculous!! I really didn't want them to do any more work on my truck because it took them an entire day to do a oil change. When I say all day I mean I dropped it off when they opened and picked it up when they closed. But I had a tire under warranty supposedly so I was giving them another shot. I was towed into this Pep boys at midnight after a tire rolled off. The staff started looking at my car as soon as they arrived in the morning, and then the owner and mechanic drove out to where the accident had happened and looked for the tire. Is there anyway to give 0 stars? Back during the first week of January we ordered two tires for the front of our vehicle. Paid over $200 up front. Tires would come in following week. Next week....no tires. Next week....no tires. I called them and explained the situation. Not only that...in the meantime my husband passed away (who originally made the purchase). So I was left to deal. Finally after weeks of finagling the tires arrived. Went to put them on. After a few days, in amongst funeral planning, I find they did not put the tires on the front where they were needed. They were placed on the back as per their "policy". This should have stated up front in my humble opinion. The back tires were disposed of by them. I personally know the rear tires were not an issue. So it would seem I am "required" to buy two MORE tires for the front, according to them and they will give a "generous" 10% discount. Ha Pep Boys. I will personally let everyone I know via anyway possible the service I have received. Call it playing the "widow card" if you want but heaven forbid this happen to any other person. Thinking I was going to spend the next several hours at a shop I Reluctantly looked on the internet to find auto repair services open on a Sunday. Pep Boys was the only one I could find. I was there 15 minutes before they opened and there were 4 others in front of me. I was extremely happy that they got to my vehicle within an hour. Always check your receipt. I had some work done on my car at Pepboys in Pelham this past week. I had a feeling I needed to check the receipt. I found a charge for a limited extended warranty. I didn't ask for an extended warranty and wasn't asked if I wanted an extended warranty and wasn't told anything about a warranty. I called George at Pepboys and asked about the warranty. He tried to explain the warranty. I told him I didn't ask for it and wasn't told about it. He told me to come back in to get a refund. When I got there I asked George if they do this routinely. He said they are told to add it. Told by who, I don't know. I said you're told to add a charge for an extended warranty without it being asked for and not telling the customer it's being added? Yep. I've used Pep Boys Pelham 4 times, twice to plug a tire which was fast and free, once for weird brake problem with 1995 camper van, the cost was same as estimate from express oil, and once to fix a window that was stuck, which they put back on the track and didn't try to sell me something I didn't need. They are friendly, prompt, open late and on Sundays for people who can't always drop the car off. I've been satisfied with the cost and quality of the repairs. read more

Brought back January, store manager admitted they rushed through the install and did not properly balance. After third visit in February, promised store manager would "call the next day." Your store in Pelham, AL only did half of an alignment and then lied about it stating that the front end can not be adjusted. At first they would not even give me a print out of the before and after measurements for the alignment. They finally gave it to me once they realized I wasn't going to leave without one. Then I noticed they had not done anything to the front end that was out of spec. The office guy referred me to the mechanic. The mechanic told me the front end is not adjustable. The mechanic told me I had a structural issue and would likely have to take it somewhere to get worked on and get new parts. I took it to the dealership hoping it was under warrant and to my surprise all it needs is a front end alignment. The same service for which Pepboys had already been paid. The front end absolutely can be adjusted. Pepboys does not do the work they say they did, then they lie about it. I will make sure to tell everyone, everywhere to avoid your company. read more

The first time we went there the tech "forgot" to screw the oil filter in place which caused loss of oil and having the car towed and the second time they "up charged" the oil change from a basic to a synthetic and the "forgot" to rotate the tires and bent a piece of metal underneath the car! I would NEVER use this place ever again!! And when I complained to the manager he was going to give me a store credit which never happened!! read more

I run maintenance on a fleet of 15 trucks for a roofing company. I have been using pep boys in Pelham for a number of years. They used to service my vehicles fast and efficiently, in the past year or so I've been dealing with a character named George. George is an %$&^*& and not doing his job. I've waited up to three hours for an oil change. I have spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars a month with his company. In my business time is money. My trucks cannot stand idle for hours. Today was the straw that broke the camels back. I called George this morning and set up an appointment to get one of my trucks serviced. Told George I had to have it done by 9 am, he assured me it would be done on time. I called him at 8:30 he said they were finishing it up and would be done on time. Got there at 9 and guess what??? no truck. Waited until 9:40. George hid in the back the whole time I was there. Its not even the first time its happened. I will NEVER bring another one of my vehicles there. read more

On a recent vacation my truck had the brakes lock up. The truck was towed to this Pep Boy location and I was told over the phone the caliper had locked up. I was without transportation, in a campground over a 1000 miles from home. The truck was towed to Pep Boys by my United Car Care service policy road service. United Car Care stated they work with Pep Boys. What they failed to tell me is that work with Pep Boys to deny claims on the service policy. Brakes are covered under my policy and the Pep Boy manager told us it was the brakes. However, he told United car Care that the bearings were loose, this was never told to us and since they were loose that caused the brakes to fail. Thus my policy did not pay. The manger looked us straight in the face and lied and lied during two subsequent phone conversations. I can only wonder how much of the $1800 bill paid was not necessary since now I know how deceptive Pep Boys can be. My only thought is that Pep Boys and United car Care have a secret arrangement to make certain warranty claims are denied. read more
