They were professional and pay attention to you and listen with respect to the customer. Not many auto repair places even listen to their customers. And they did a good job with my warranty service on a lifetime alignment that I paid for when I bought my car. The lifetime alignment was a great investment for me!! read more

Middle of the road Auto Parts Store with half being a Pep Boys and the other half being an Autozone, I mean nothing about this place jumps out and says it's amazing but if I'm rushing around and in need of Fluids, Wipers, and other conveniently available road related items they usually have what I need so at least there's that. Although, prices here are pretty high and their brand name carries absolutely zero credibility with Me so there's that too. I can't really speak about the Auto Service aspect of this business but I probably wouldn't have them work on my Truck for any serious kind of situation other than maybe lube or diagnostics in a tight spot. Wait, on second thought I just took a look at some of their previous customer reviews and decided to just stick with the retail side of things here. Manny, Moe, and Jack (the pep boys) are probably not too happy with this location at all,  LOL!! See You Down The Road!! read more

Been coming to these guys for a while from exhaust repairs, suspension to wheels and tires. Always been quality when it comes to repairs. If you have an inkling of car knowledge, it really helps communicating your issues with them. read more

This business suffers from negligence. I went there for emergency brakes. They kept my car for a day. They told me is fine. On the way home I dealt with vibrations and when ingot home I realized i gad a hot rotor. They knew my commute was long and they put my life and the life of others at risk. read more

Pep Boys - Hot rotor - Auto Repair Near Me - Parsippany, New Jersey

I see from other reviews that my poor experience is shared by others. I went to this Pep Boys location because of a service issue from another Pep Boys location. I explained the issue several times to multiple people. However, when the service was performed, they did not address the problem that I reported. This seems simple where a service ticket would be updated with customer notes or something. Basically, everything I reported was ignored. I had to escalate to service management before I was heard. It took two days to complete a simple service request because they did not listen. During my service, no managers showed up for work. The did not have enough techs to meet the appointment. It seemed that they did not want to do the expensive work needed because of the other location's problem. Miserable customer service! If you are desperate, give them a try. Otherwise, best to consider other options. read more

This a second review posted for the poor customer service experience. In another review, I shared my bad experience and opinion that you should seek service elsewhere. After I posted my negative review, there was a response in a couple of hours requesting that I contact Pep Boys so they could address my concerns. What is funny is that I raised my concerns with multiple people including documenting a compliant case with corporate customer service. So they already have the issue, and my contact details. And now into the 4th day and I have yet to receive a call from area or corporate management. So they make a show that they care about customer service - but they do not actually respond. All management refused to discuss my concerns. They left all contact to front desk people who hid behind "we have a policy that prioritizes the company over the customer." I suggest you find a good local shop where they pride themselves on service. If you are not from the area, go to Firestone instead. read more

I found this from a website search and I came here. I booked an appointment and I got there and was checked in. Everything went pretty smooth. I had to wait about an hour probably at the most. I made a reservation like a few days before, so I definitely would recommend making one. I'm not sure if they even take walk-ins, but it seemed pretty crowded. Obviously they tried to tell me a few more things or told me I needed a few more things done with my car, but I just couldn't afford it as far as the oil change everything went well. read more

Had a tire plugged and no charge. Seemed to be very busy but took the tire right away

I went here a month ago to have a tire plugged. They plugged it one month later it's still leaking stopped off at Mavis who told me that thing was leaking and wanted to replace my tire instead of just fixing it came to Pep Boys to have them fix what they messed up correctly they said they can't fix it and wanted to sell me a new tire. This is a scam in the industry. The tire is perfectly able to be plugged again, but they don't want to cause they want to just upsell you on selling a tire. read more

I appreciated Vinny's thoroughness on my 2019 Toyota Corolla. I came in for an oil change and tire rotation, and he took the time to look up previous repairs and performed a comprehensive inspection on my vehicle, which was in need of new breaks after over 6 years of use. The car feels fantastic. read more

SOMEONE SMOKED IN MY CAR. not cool. Ever. Oil change and second hand smoke and a smell that's lasted 4 days. Avoid at all costs.

I am very pleased with the service I received. I had my tires replaced and the price quoted was exactly what I paid. George was the consultant that I worked with and he was very straight forward. I would go back for service for sure. read more

POORLY RUN SHOP! COULDN'T CARE LESS ATTITUDE. Made an appointment for brakes two days prior. Appointment was at 8:00am and I indicated i would be staying for the car. At 8:20 a car came flying into the parking lot and the man opened the store. There was nobody there. When I asked if they were open, I was told everyone else gets there at 9am. He said he would do the best he could but would have to send out for parts. read more

PROS: The staff was nice when my friend and I brought in his car and their tire discount was great (buy 3 get one free). The service was done in a timely matter and they have many garages CONS: when i walked inside they had no merchandise on display, it just looked like a big movable wall at the entrance. Not sure if their shop is on the other side or not OVERALL: great pep boys but only for mechanic works, not for in-store purchases read more

Pep Boys is a joke. This is our second bad experience - first was at a different location - they literally put the tire on backwards. This time, my husband made a 10:30 appointment for an oil change and specified Mobile 1 oil. It took over 2 hours - after a wait time even get started, and they used the wrong oil. At least they charged less because of it. They shouldn't be taking appointments for quick services that they can't even keep. read more

Their services price are significantly higher than the market average, and they will deceive you into adding unnecessary services. To fix a misfire engine shaking issue (we'll assume their diagnosis for now), needed to replaced the spark plugs, and they forced me to add some other services, costing $1700 after so-called discounts, which I paid $1400 (I asked several other shops, even a dealership, for the same issue repair, and the market price doesn't go above $1000). I understand if pep boys has a higher labor cost, and I can even understand charging a bit more when my car couldn't move. But is it not outrageous to charge almost double when they see a young woman who seems to know little about cars bringing in a problematic vehicle? Also, I don't understand why the engine problem occurred after the first time I got an oil change from them; there shouldn't be any connection, right? I don't know if other Pep Boys stores are similarly cheating customers, but I will make sure EVERYONE around me, my neighbors, and colleagues know about my experience. I hope this helps everyone avoid unnecessary losses! read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!! Especially if you are a woman! They completely scammed me and charged me over $700 on something. Pulling out of their parking lot a new sounds was coming from my car. Bringing it back they tried to charge me $1,100 for THEIR mistake. I said absolutely not and took my car to another mechanic. He told me there was absolutely nothing wrong with my car... maybe new breaks but that's it. THEY ARE SCAMMERS. while waiting there for my car 4 people were there brining their car back after having it there because of a new sound or problem. read more

I am so regret to choose pep boys to do my honda pilot B12 service. It is just an oil change and some inspections. But I am here for over 4 hours, they still did not start the checking. I should remember the waiting time last time I was here. read more

I never had someone try to blatantly rip us off like this. My father and I have been through different car services as there's an inspection coming up. All have stated there's only a wheel alignment issue. Pep boy had a deal for 4 wheels alignment at $90 so we bought our car in. After making us wait hours (even though the lady on the phone said it would be a 45 minute wait), they told us that the front must have hit something so they're going to replace the whole part. (We has a scratch from 5 years ago and never had an issue with this. Seems they noticed and wanted to take advantage). We said no thank you and would only like the wheels correction. They immediately said that it cannot be done unless they fix the front first which will cost us $1500... Obviously, walked away and will never come back. Make sure you get your car checked out at other places so you don't get ripped off!! read more

Purchased and had installed, 4 top of the line Michelin tires. Asked for, and was assured, that they were "fresh" tires (recent production dates). Due to tire experts indicating that tire rot concerns possibly starting around 6 years after production date. After installed, needed to check DOT numbers. Discovered that two of the installed tires were old production dates. After much back and forth, Pep Boys changed out the two tires, while telling me that they install new tires with up to 5 years from production dates. This leads to possibly short life of those tires, and potentially dangerous driving conditions. Other issues include that alignments done (both me and person right before me) without consent, and 2 1/2 hour wait to have tires installed, even with appointment on non-busy day. Then spent another hour to have the two tires replaced. Called Pep Boys corporate several times---they only referred my case back to the local store. Promised calls back from "corporate" never happened. BUYER BEWARE. read more

I run over a nail on 46, and was able to make to pep boys. Granted they were closing in 30 mins. The service rep (some young black girl) brushes me off like I was a peasant who bought her room temperature water on a hot July day. She offered no help, did not even make a suggestion of how to fix my problem. Waited in line at the parts and advice section of the store where the gentlemen helped me find what I needed to to back on the road. The girl needs some training. She was on Instagram and not doing her job. You lost me and money. I rather wait on the side of road for AAA during a blizzard than to spend another penny here. read more

Take note from your fellow Yelpers. If you're the kind of person who values time, do yourself a favor and bring your car troubles somewhere else. We had Pepboys take a look at our brakes after what they explained to be a quick fix. Hundreds of dollars and 3 days later, we picked up our car only to bring it back the next day for another repair. Dropped it off on a Friday and we had to call them periodically for an update... We were told the car would be ready first thing Sunday morning since they were getting a part Saturday at 6pm. After calling again Sunday close to noon, we were told that the part hadn't come in and they once again assured us they'd call as soon as the car was done. Needless to say, there was no update until we called for the final time Monday afternoon. It "has been ready" and no one decided to notify us. We picked it up Monday evening and will not be returning again. read more

I have a normal place I go for getting my cars serviced so this is just about the parts desk. I stopped in on Sunday to buy wipers for my daughter's car. Walked in and checked the 'book' hanging at the end of the aisle and saw that the book only indicated two wipers (for the front) and didn't have anything for the rear wiper. I went to the counter and asked the guy and he looked it up on his computer...he then tells me "they don't make them, we don't have them." So I asked, 'What do you mean they don't make them or have them...where am I supposed to go to get the replacement?" Guy tells me I need to go to the dealer. this sounds like a total load of crap to me so I said "ok thanks" and leave. I step out the door and see that right across the street is an Advanced Auto Parts so I drive over and go inside and ask the same question of the young lady behind the counter. She looks up the car on her computer and she shows me that they have all three blades. She walks over and grabs them for me, I paid and they install them for free in about 90 seconds. I was in the store for less than five minutes. Sorry Pep Boys, your competition clearly one-upped you today...and got a new customer if I need parts again... read more

The absolute worst! Do not take your car here even if it is an emergency! Terrible time management. I dropped my car off at 7:30 a.m. and it will not be ready until 6:00 p.m. Thats after I gave them a day in between to obtain the part! I will never bring my car here again! read more

This may not be an issue with this particular location, maybe an issue with Corporate . But unfortunately when i bring in my car, i am told i need to use Full Synthetic Oil because the Pep Boys computer system says so. My car's owners manual clearly states the recommended Oil is 5W-20 and i do not understand why Pep Boys would not eve allow the technicians to use a manufacturer's recommendation but instead need to use their own recommendation which 0 20 and needs to be full Synthetic. read more

I was treated well at this store today. I was given a discount coupon to make up for a small problem I had the last time I had service done there, by a service manager who today no longer works there and I half expected they might not want to honor it. They not only accepted it, they did a great job servicing my car, finished quickly and everyone was very professional and pleasant. I clearly got the impression that everyone was trying to make my experience as a customer satisfactory. Today was definitely a five star service day. read more

Don't know how they do it but, never a long wait, always polite, professional and courteous! Love this place!

I went for an oil change they rotated my tires. The customer service reps behind the counter were very nice and helpful gave me a great deal. Since moving to NJ from another state, I haven't had a set mechanic I feel comfortable with established yet which brought me to Pep Boys. I first came here to fix a flat tire. I had found out I had ran over a nail and the tire could be patched instead of replacing it. I was happy to hear the cost to patch a tire is much lower. They patched it up and I was on my way about $25 later. A few days go by and the exact same tire goes flat AGAIN!! I knew something was up. I couldn't have possibly ran something over again! I was stuck on the side of 287 on my way to work. I called AAA who put my spare tire on and I brought my car back to Pep Boys. After a bit I was told the mechanic didn't properly seal the tire and that's why it was flat. They so blatantly admitted their wrongdoing but didn't apologize for it. I had to take half a personal day (mind you I only get 3 per year) in order to take care of this and it wasn't even my fault!! I wasn't charged of course but still put me in a bad situation with my PTO. Fast forward a few months and I just recently got my oil changed this week. I used their online system to schedule an appt. I called to see how I can apply the 20% off coupon listed on their webpage and I followed all the instructions. I originally checked the box indicating I would be dropping the car off for service. I decided about 20 min before my appointment time I was going to stay and wait for the car. I called to let Pep Boys know my change of plans. I was then told they were in the process of calling me to cancel... 20 minutes before!!! I was just about to leave my house! I was super disappointed they didn't let me know they were backed up a few hours earlier in the day. This could have given me time to schedule elsewhere. I was going back to work the next day and really wanted this taken care of. I called around to 3 other Pep Boys locations who, on such short notice and an hour before closing, couldn't take me. I called back this location to see what could be done. They gave me a voucher for a FREE oil change. This was definitely a nice gesture and I really appreciated this service however, to call just minutes before the appointment is unprofessional. I am still in the process for looking for a mechanic I feel I can trust. This place just isn't it for me. read more

I came in last minute after work after finding out my tiring was flat and Filmore, Alex, and Prince were a great help all together they were really helpful with me. Throughout the way Filmore checked me in and explained what was wrong and then my man Alex came later to warn me that throughout the process there could be possible complications and asked for my approval if they could proceed and thanks to the great work and patience with Prince and the rest of the team no further complications ended up even happening and I sent home with a relief and smile on my face. read more

I can see from the consensus of reviews that the staff at this place are unprofessional and the customer service is poor. I share a similar view. Sorry this is a bit long, but worth reading. I hope this helps: One late afternoon, my grandfather was stranded in the cold because his tire popped. The spare is bolted under the car, he had no jack, or proper tool set. He called Pep Boys and they told him they would have a tow truck there within 1 hour. Two hours later he calls me to help him. I tried calling customer service, but my call kept getting looped and in the end they told me it would take 4 hours for a tow which was not guaranteed. We ended up driving the vehicle slowly on the shoulder of rt 46 and pulled into an advance auto store directly across the street from Pep Boys. Parked the car in that lot and drove in my car across the street to pep boys. (it was 2 miles to make a u-turn, and we were worried we would damage the rim). At Pep Boys the manager named Phil said that they would tow the car tomorrow morning to the shop and service the vehicle. Next day I called 9am and they said that they did not have a tow available and it would take 3 hours. At 12pm I called to have a status update, spoke to Phil again and he mentioned it would take another 3 hours. Finally called at 3pm, and he told me the same thing. At that point I called 4 towing companies and found one available within 5 minutes! Got the car towed literally to across the street for $95 with an outside towing service. When we got the car over there it took them another hour and half to put 2 new fresh tires on the vehicle. Not to mention my grandfather almost fell in the parking lot because they did not shovel or plow. In the end they only took $50 off my bill. Now I am not complaining that I didn't get a better discount. I am writing this review to explain the experience my grandfather and I had to go through, which was simply terrible and frustrating. The staff were slow and inefficient, not to mention inappropriate especially how one of them turned around and started flirting with one of the mechanics. Meanwhile there are a line of people that need help. Just a complete mess. read more

Pep boys misdiagnosed a simple oil seal leak on my CV Axle that would have cost under three hundred and replace my Rack and Piñon assembly that cost over a thousand that was fine. Nice staff but results aren't regarding mechanical issues. Tried with two different cars. Really wanted it to work out.

This is the second time this particular Pep Boys has gotten me out of a difficult situation that was semi-urgent. 4 years ago my battery gave out and just last night my tire blew. They were great in communication and got me in without a wait 15 minutes before they closed. Omar and Juan were efficient and I was out within 20 min of being there. Could not have asked for a faster or more efficient experience. I think there are 2 moments that define a service, urgency and elective. I have minimal experience in their elective work, but definitely give them 5 stars in their urgent experience. read more

I must have gotten a nail in my tire while I was driving on route 46, so I pulled into Pep Boys. I didn't have the time for them to find the nail, but one of the nicest mechanics, John, offered to put my donut on just so I could get home. No charge! He was sweet and fast and put everything back in my trunk so neatly. He even put a quarter on top that he must have found in my messy trunk (those new canvas shopping bags!). The cashier was also very personable. read more
