Stopped in for an oil change with no appointment last week. They were able to fit me in and were very thorough with my inspection. They called to let me know that I needed my 2 front tires replaced (I was actually expecting them to say all 4 so I accepted the service with no issues). They also noticed my front breaks need to be checked but they didn't have a mechanic available to do it that day. My mom was in a car accident and I was driving around with one donut tire trying to get quotes from body shop. I passed by a Mavis with zero expectation trying to get a tire to match the other 3. Mark came out and looked at the tire and I was told they didn't have it. But they could order it and have them delivered on the same day. I was around 9 and got a call around 11:30am the tire was in. I got there around noon dropped off the car and it was done within 30 mins. Not sure if it was the cheapest I could get but it was exactly what I needed within a few hours when I really needed it. It's yet another Mavis Discount Tire & Auto that used to be an STS that will try and service your ride if you wanna gamble with these kind of crappy service places. They're located right on Route 10 East and they sell gas here too that's the only reason I stop in. Just a side note: this area definitely doesn't need anymore Mavis Discount Tire stores, as there is one on every street corner. And you can officially take the "Discount" out of your name because ain't Nobody getting a discount except for maybe your stock holders. Mavis You Suck!! read more

I have been a witness how they tried to scam over 100 bucks from a customer by adding all kinds of fees and labor to a firm quote they just gave an hour earlier. As for me I have been given a timeframe of 1.5 to 2 hours to simply change a tire. No problem, I planned this in my schedule. But after coming back in two hours they still didn't touch my car. Ended up waiting 3 hours and instead of apologies I got a rude attitude from Devon. Not listening at all, Interrupting me with his "all right", rolling eyes and turning away. I have left maybe a grand total of two reviews so far in my life because regardless of whether the service is good or bad, it is very rarely to an egregious or exceptional degree but this review is purely for a gentleman named David. He was working the front and to date is the most amicable person in a manager/management role that I have come across. He was relaxed, professional, friendly, and excelled at his job. The truth is the majority of commercial car service spots are very rarely going to give exceptional service and to be honest I haven't even received my car back yet (I'm writing this as I wait, also it's a simple tire change) but terrific customer service deserves recognition and appreciation. I went in to have a a nail removed & the tire plugged (because Mavis Tires doesn't patch tires?) When I returned to pick up my car I was charged for new wipers. I did not ask for new wipers & no one called me to authorize replacing the wipers. Is that even legal? Imagine if they had decided tht I needed 4 new tires! Get out of there! Run! Highway robbery! I went in with a complaint of a dragging break caliper squeak. They told me I needed new break pads and drums. I didnt need drums, I knew that. I agreed to the break pads, and they told me I needed new shocks and struts so I got them, dont know if I really needed them, but in the end they charged $1350 and the squeak still not fixed! Im considering talking to a lawyer. Struts cost 180 a pair plus 100 for breaks, and come on probably 60 for an alignment. $900? In labor???!!! Idiots. They were suppose to flush out break lines which should have fixed the squeak. read more

Before I picked up my mom I noticed my tires were really bad so I chanced it and on my home I called STS looking for prices.The man that answered the phone was really nice and helpful. when I asked what time they closed, he told me 5 and was already 4:25. I went into Mavis on Route 10 in East Hanover to check if my tire had a nail in it. I didn't have an appointment but they were able to check my car. In addition to patching my tire, they did a quick check on the other components on my car. Thankfully, they saw my struts and tires needed to be replaced due to severe wear. I saw the wear on the tires and the poor shape of the struts. I appreciated them finding the hazardous condition of the struts and tires. The customer service and attention to my car was great. Service is only open until 6PM, not 7PM like advertised by other Strauss locations or their own website. Not sure why they have a gas station when instead they should be open longer when people um get out of work? They also screwed my GF by not telling her that she gets free tire patching and rotations when she got all 4 tires replaced here. She was not very happy when she found out that she was needlessly charged for tire rotations. At least I was able to force them to patch her tire for free when she had a patch (since I remembered that she had her tires changed here). This place does not deserve a five star. Apparently for a car to be aligned the computer just had to show green for all the selection. My car steering wheel was crooked at an angle even though the car was THEORETICALLY aligned. I went to another tire shop and explained them the situation. The professionals there aligned my car properly and explained the following: -Yes the car is "aligned" but, -The back tires were aligned to the left of the max tolerance - The front tires were aligned to the right of the max tolerance This caused the car to be PRACTICALLY unaligned. Avoid this place, spend your money on a more reputable shop with experienced technicians, not some monkeys at a gas station. read more

Horrible. Took my car to get fixed. They changed the muffler and exhaust spring bolts. Put a muffler that was too big in my car but seemed to fix the original problem. Muffler was banging against metal under the car bc it was TOO big for the car. Then caused another problem that they can't fix or want to charge me. Don't go here. Big scammers. great, great service and people! i came back from a 5 day trip away in early november to find out that my car couldn't start, and it was probably because of a dead battery. and i panicked and called costco on route 10 to ask if they did installations and they said they sell the car battery but not installations (wtfack??) but then was referred over to STS. So i called STS and they were INCREDIBLY friendly, super quick and efficient about getting me into the system and just told me to come on in before they closed on a sunday at 5PM. fortunately my car got jump started around 4 so i drove over there and they put me in right away and changed it for me ASAP. i dont even think it took even a half an hour?? it was amazing. and the guy was so friendly that helped me out at the counter. i would highly recommend them for your car repair services because they're efficient AF! that's something i definitely value in a service is efficiency and also friendliness. the price was on par as well. their battery has a 5 year warranty and a 120 day free re-installation warranty thingie too. read more

I would not go to this Mavis Tire again. Went to get a simple oil change and they gave me a list of things wrong with my car including a "bad battery", 90% worn brake pads and rotors, as well as my shocks/struts. The employee, Kareem told me I needed to get my battery and brakes replaced right away and he would do it for a low price. Therefore I took my car to my trusted mechanic and he checked my car out. Turns out I had about 10,000 miles left for my brake pads and my battery was fine. Point being they tried to con me so be careful and get your car checked out by another mechanic if they give you a list of problems! read more
