March, 2026 I DO NOT recommend Pep Boys at 4700 Airport Blvd in Mobile. I'll start with cost - My husband was quoted a price of between $65 - $90 for an oil change on our Prius including a high quality oil (Penzoil). When I got the bill it was $119. Manager had ordered a oil filter while I was there. I was charged $17 for a filter. There was only one mechanic. The waiting room and bathroom were filthy. The whole experience lead me to believe the business is suffering (limited employees and supplies, unclean surroundings, manager's conversations, high priced service) Even with recent price increases, the price was too high. My husband called Toyota and the cost would have been much less. We have had good experiences at Pep Boys on Montlimar. We'll return there or take it to a Toyota dealership next time. read more

I arrived as they were locking up, no techs available. The 2 guys there were very kind and professional, let me leave my truck and then helped me with a tire change when I showed up the next day. Never go to Pep Boys in Tillmans Corner, called ahead of time for a set of tires, got there the. manager and employees in the shop were having a argument one worker walked out and speed off in the parking lot, just two working in the bay cussing loudly they finally brought my truck out and the manager gave me my paperwork after payment , I went to get in my truck and noticed the right rear tire was a used one!!! after I just paid $1000 for a new set of tires, the manager said the worker didn't notice it was use, these people just need to close shop, never again , and had to clean all the grease off door handle and steering wheel when I got home read more

On 3-19-25, I dropped my car off due to presumed bearings issue. Pepboys kept my car, inspected it, replaced my two rear bearings and said it was done. Got in car, drove off, and car still making same noise as before. Went back. Second time. I was told it was front passenger bearing. When I inquired as to how that was missed, I was told it was making any noise at first. Funny how it was the exact same noise as when I went in to begin with. At this point, I notice I was charged for an extended warranty. I never asked for that, and didn't want it. After a screaming match at the store, on both parts, where MF was dropped by myself and manager, I was asked to leave after informing other customers in store that they have to say they don't want the extended warranty to not pay for it. I was told by manager, Jason chandler, that the charge was automatically added. Again, no mention to customer. So after feeling i have now paid for a repair I didn't need (same noises as when I went in), I decided to go to get repairs elsewhere for the front. Well, elsewhere was ExpressOil. They changed the bad bearing. No noise now. I also had repairs done swiftly, at a lower cost that per wheel at Pepboys, and with a hell of a lot more respect from them towards their customers. BUYER BEWARE!!!!! Pepboys is running a scam with the warranties. I will be filing a complaint with the state on their warranty actions. When I spoke to Eric, I assume Pepboys DM, he said company policy was returns are processed by check and would be arriving in 10-15 days. I then asked him if company policy also was to charge customers for extended warranty charges without asking first since computer system was set up to have to opt out instead of opting in. His reply to me, "you were told what the repair costs were going to be". So, no empathy or respect from the manager Jason Chandler, neither was I happy with the lack of empathy from the DM. Nothing for them to be sorry for evidently. Well, let that tell you something g about their business model. My advice, read my review along with all the other bad ones. I wish I had read them all and taken them at their word. Makes me wonder if I even needed repairs in the back, and how do they miss the one in front. The one that was causing all the issues to begin with. Pepboys had banned me from the airport store due to my informing their waiting customers of the extended warranty policy. Guess they didn't want that to get out in the open. As a manager myself, I was an added percent to the company goal on selling extended warranties. My purchase was putting extra money in the managers pocket. Oh, and Express Oil change on Grelot is my new mechanic shop. Total respect given towards me, and it was much appreciated after the fiasco at Pepboys. I would highly recommend them. Not just for the respect, but to the FREE 12 mo. Parts and labor warranty that you get with their work. That in itself would save me $76.50. And they actually took care of my issue the first time. read more

I would not recommend anyone to take their car to Pep Boys on Airport Blvd. My daughter took her vehicle there for a slow leak in her tire. They told her she needed a new tire because she had a nail in it and it could not be fixed. They did not show the actual tire to her, but showed her where the hole was on another tire. They told her she could purchase a $200 plus tire to replace it. I told her to hold off and have them fill the tire with air (found out the next day they did not air the tire). The following day, she took her car to the nearby dealership (Honda) and they informed her that she had a nail in her tire and it was repairable. The dealership repaired it for free. Pep Boys should adopt the policy of being honest from the dealership. Taking advantage of young, innocent students!!! Really!!! Do not trust Pep Boys!!! read more

Buyer beware! Crooks, Robbers and Bandits work here. I only give a one star because that's the lowest. One star is too much. Terrible service, incompetent mechanics working here. My daughter brought her vehicle to them to have a simple starter repair completed. They destroyed her vehicle. We had to tow it to dealership and pay thousand dollars to have a real mechanic undo their damage to the motor.They would not refund any money for their service. I tried to discuss with their manager but he offered no recourse. He actually said they did not know why the car would not crank. Turns out it was a loose wire. Pep Boys - Oil Change Stations Near Me - Mobile, Alabama

This doesn't deserve the one star I was forced to give it or I would not have been able to leave a review. In my opinion, Pep Boys should be prevented calling themselves 5 Star Service. They should be out of business. They admittedly ripped me off by repairing something that was not needed, charging me for it and not being able to actually fix what was wrong with my vehicle. They gave my car back saying they couldn't fix it and never offered a refund on the over $850 that Pep Boys "stole" from me. They gave my vehicle back with parts missing and the cooling fan unplugged. I took my vehicle to another shop and it was fixed in 1 day, replacing a small module (and recharging the A/C coolant) costing about $150 plus labor. Pep Boys are only good for tires, I don't think I would trust them with an oil change. I have also reported them to the Better Business Bureau in hopes that no one else will be ripped off by Pep Boys' inadequacy. WARNING - NEVER EVER USE PEP BOYS! I will never again use them for ANY reason!! read more

Great service! All I really needed was a battery for a key fob. I wasn't sure what size I needed, but when I was looking a guy came in and asked me what I was looking for. I told him I needed a new battery for my key fob, and Meek (another guy) opened it up and replaced it right there for me! Excellent service. Just a little note...... if you advertise you will be open at 7:00....you really should try to be open at 7:00. We needed service at 7:00 because battery was dead and we were packed and leaving on trip. After getting a boost we drove over here to get a new battery. It was 7:00....no one was here....we waited...finally found another Pepboys at Schilolinger that was open (as advertised) and they fixed us up. It is little things like this (reliability) that create loyal customers. I came in for an oil change... a mere 2.5hrs later, I was FREE!!! I know what you're thinking. But, Philip, those places get really busy! If that were the case, I would excuse it. There were 2 other vehicles being worked on when I arrived and none waiting for service. Both of those cars were done 10min after I arrived. absolutely horrible service. i had an appointment to have my tires looked at because they were flat. they still made me wait 4.5 hours before being seen & then said my tires just needed air but that one tire had a nail in it that would be no issue to me. 2 days after going & having not driven my car, the one they said had a nail in it was completely flat. i called the same shop & explained the situation just for the owner or manager to accuse me of lying saying his employees would NEVER say a nail in the tire is fine. I hung up the phone, double checked the location, called again & was PROMISED by the owner they would take car of my car if we brought it in. we did & they made us wait 2 hours & pay for the service after their mistake & promise to fix it!! read more

So thankful for these guys. My car suddenly ran hot and luckily I was a block away. Meek was so responsive - very patient with my explanation of what was wrong and clear in how long it would take to assess. Ultimately, they stored my car Saturday and Sunday, and we had to have a tow truck to take it to the dealer for a part that had to be ordered - to ensure that nothing else had caused it to break. On Feb 2 I had my rear brakes replaced at the Airport location, and shortly thereafter I noticed a grinding noise from the rear passenger wheel. I went to the Azalea Rd location to have it inspected and was told it was a rock that was lodged after the tech went on a joyride in my car for about 30 minutes. I left with the same problem. After a complaint to Customer Service they scheduled an appt at the Montlimar location. At this location I was told the grinding noise was coming from my shocks by 2 different technicians. One of which was Jeffrey Holton. I don't recall the other tech's name. I took my car to a local mechanic this morning and within 15 minutes no more noise. The problem was the inside brake pad. I am beyond irritated. This problem could have been solved if only 1 of these techs knew how to do their job. I can only imagine how many people they have taken advantage of. Mind you, I originally spent $437.81 to have rear rotors resurfaced, new rear brakes and a lifetime alignment. I can assure you that in the future I wouldn't even stop at a Pepboys locationto ask for directions! read more

I had a dead battery that was caused by computer code issues in my car. I had purchased the battery one year previously from Pep Boys. They worked on my car for two hours, after I announced I was not paying a dime because I thought the battery was bad. After two hours, tests which showed the battery was good, and the issues were problems with the computer system, I was not charged, and was told to bring my car back in several days to ensure the computer codes were remaining off and were not once again draining the battery. Two hours of free service, and the staff could not have been kinder or more accommodating. Highly recommend!! read more
