My dad always do my car maintenance but this time I wanted to do my oil change. I had no idea with everything but they're nice enough to explain things to me. They asked and offered lots of maintenance stuff while doing the oil change. They removed the air filter and the cabin filter to show me the condition and maybe to convince me that I have to buy a new one from them. However, the guy that showed it to me was honest enough to say that I don't need to change my air filter since it's not that dirty yet. Since I don't know anything, I had to call my dad and my boyfriend to get their opinions. They are car guys so they know if I have to get something changed or not. The guy offered to change my cabin filter for $40 including installation fee. My boyfriend said it was too much for $40. He said I can get a filter for $15 online and we'll just install them since it's not a lot of hard work anyway. If you know how to do oil change, it's always cost-effective to do it yourself. The service is somehow pricey but if you don't have time, bringing you car here is worth the price. It's fast and hassle-free. Tips: 1. If you don't know anything about car maintenance, always ask someone first who has knowledge with it. These people are good salesmen. Next thing you know, you're saying yes to all their offers. It's a good thing if you have funds for it. Otherwise, the extras will be hurtful to pay for. 2. As you exit, there's a sign that says "honk if you like the service" and if you do, please honk. It's nice to let them know you appreciate their service! :) read more

BEWARE TAKE 5 OIL CHANGE By a person who should have known better. On April 4, 2025, at exactly noon, I pulled into a Take 5 Oil Change on Government Street, filled with tempered optimism for what I assumed would be a basic engine and differential oil change--no full spa treatment. I didn't want them whispering encouraging things to my Subaru. Just the oil, please. In and out, like a drive-thru brothel for cars. By 4:00 p.m., the car began jerking and grinding as I was on my way to New Orleans. Other cars flew past me while the poor Subaru clunked toward Grand Bay. I had the car towed home. The next day, with the kind of blind optimism usually reserved for first dates and timeshare presentations, I brought the car back to Take 5, thinking they would magically fix it with their fancy lubes and oils. The technician got back under the car for a few minutes before emerging sheepishly at my side door. He nodded solemnly and admitted on camera that "he was pretty sure the differential oil was low." He then suggested I drive it around the block. You know, like how doctors recommend jogging on a fractured leg. I did what he asked. Unsurprisingly, the car sounded like it was trying to poop out a wrench. He said he'd file a damage claim. Reader, he did not. Instead, I spent the next week chasing down someone--anyone--who would acknowledge that something had gone terribly wrong with my car. Eventually, I was passed along to Fleet Response, a third-party claims handler whose customer service seemed to be modeled on the customer service in Guantanamo Bay. They instructed me to have the car towed to a mechanic of my choosing. I chose. The mechanic said they'd obviously used the wrong oil and confirmed that Take 5 was to blame for the damage. All of it. He submitted his diagnosis directly to Fleet Response. On April 25--three weeks to the day since this whole saga began--a Fleet Response adjuster called me to say they were denying the claim, just like that. The glove didn't fit. In addition to 5 minutes of existential remonstrations, where I explained in very specific detail that the adjuster was a soulless liar whose only objective was to ruin lives for profit, I told her: --The car was in perfect condition before I took it to Take 5. --It broke down four hours after Take 5 touched it. --A professional mechanic diagnosed the problem and blamed Take 5. --There was a video of a Take 5 employee admitting there wasn't enough oil. --It only had 60,000 miles on it. But no. Fleet Response didn't see a connection. For them, the damage was just one of life's little mysteries--like crop circles or how glitter gets into everything. So, I'm sharing this as a warning: if you ever feel the urge to pull into a Take 5 Oil Change, maybe... don't. Unless you enjoy calling customer service while your car oozes fluids in your driveway and you question your faith in small miracles and large corporations. read more

WAS DENIED DUE TO SKID PLATE I was told that "you should be charged more since you have a skid plate and might be denied service". I ended up awaiting for 2 hours for an oil change and was told my "fluids were topped off" to then later run out of windshield wiper fluid. I recommend checking your wiper fluid before going in. read more

Took over two hours for an oil change... there was no line when I pulled in. I sat in the bay for an hour and a half before anyone even talked to me. read more

This place hires anyone off the street. Little to no experience. Tried to tell me my ENTIRE engine needed to be replaced because THEY warped my metal oil cap while trying to take it off. Took out the air filter and never put the plastic piece from my interior back on, and to say it took far longer than 5 minutes is an UNDERSTATEMENT. Don't waste your time, and don't risk the life of your vehicle. read more

I've been here 45 minutes. They haven't even started my oil change yet. I came because I had a $20 coupon. Not worth it.

They did not secure the under engine cover correctly on my car and it came off on the road. I returned to the store where Lamarcus Harrell(shop manager) told me they would replace the part for me and would let me know when the part came in. I called 4 days later because I never heard from them and Lamarcus told me that they changed their mind and would no longer replace the part. I would give negative stars if possible. On top of that it took over 40 minutes for them to perform the initial oil change. Ridiculous. read more

In need of a quick oil change. Pulled into Take 5, I got the Castro's GTX Synthetic Blend change for $63.97 and was out the door in 15 minutes. Kevin was very pleasant and professional. Verified the oil level and offered to reset oil change light. Great service and did not try to up-sell me the usual unnecessary addons. I highly recommend this business, after 3 visits I could not be happier. read more

Fast, Friendly service. When I pulled in 2 young men, Matt & Terry, greeted me & helped me pull into the space correctly. They offered me a bottle of water & began to work on my car immediately. He took down my name, number & address in the computer system. He then explained the pricing & oils on the price sheet. I chose the $62.99 +tax which came out to be $66.29 with tax. The oil was Castro GTX magnatec. I was done in less than 10 mins. Great customer service! read more

Thursday May 4th 2023 around noon . I was pulled into the bay and sit there 20 to 25 minutes and no one came over and got started on my vehicle. I was trying to get this done during lunch and was not able to stay so I just pulled out and left. They state there are home of the 10 minute oil change. There were three people on one vehicle while I was just sitting there not getting serviced. I hope this was just an unusual day because it doesn't take three people to do an oil change read more

Wow! In all the years having my oil changed I can say I've never come across people as friendly and helpful as the folks at Take 5. The prices are very reasonable and they offer a military discount! After I swore that I'd NEVER take my car back to these incompetent excuses for mechanics, I thought that I'd give them a second chance. The first time, I drove away with a check engine light on, which wasn't there before I came in. They said that they didn't do anything to cause this, but after I did a diagnostic, found that they hadn't replaced the cover on my cabin air filter compartment right. So I fixed it myself. This time, the prices had gone way up and the quality of service had gone way down. I told them not to do anything but an oil change, but they checked my tire air pressure and did not put that caps back on. Filled my fluids and screwed up putting the caps on and my engine overheated badly. I swear to God, I will NEVER AGAIN bring my car to this place. They will never take responsibility for the damage they had done. I wish I could give negative stars because I would. So you get one star, which is about 10 more than you should get! Go to Pep Boys, at least they will stand behind their work. Good luck! read more

Terrible. Waited over an hour just to get in the bay. Multiple employees talking and standing around.

I was first greeted so kindly with a bottle of water. Service was fast and informative. They never tried to over sell products. They'll show you your air filter and refill items as needed, checking wiper fluid, brake fluid , lights, tire pressure etc. Reggie & Tanorius were awesome. Will return read more

Great service. These guys were so efficient and friendly. I will definitely return. The other auto shops could take a lesson from these guys. They were so thorough, and I couldn't have been more pleased. Super fast too! read more

They have new staff now and they are not as friendly as the old staff. I've been going here for years and I'm not going back. I went up there one day because I needed air in my tire because it was flat. The gentleman that put air in my tire was giving me more advice on where to get a tire from. His manager asked him what he was doing and he quickly cut me off while I was talking and motioned for me to leave. I've spent hundreds of dollars with this company and the one time I needed something as small as air in my car I was told to leave? I have no idea where they got this nonchalant crew from. read more

This station does not carry 2018 Camry oil filters!!!! As of today, I had to go and purchase a filter myself in order for them to change my oiI. Usually I would just go somewhere else but was pressed for time today and luckily there was a store that sold filters close by. I am very disappointed with my service and experience with this station. I have been there many times before, in my old 4Runner, and received excellent and quick service. I don't have time to take my car to the dealership and wait three hours to get an oil change, let alone have time to go and purchase a filter. I drive a 2018 Camry, an INCREDIBLY common car in Mobile, where they proceeded to tell me that they don't carry the oil filter needed for my car. This is unacceptable. They should definitely carry these filters for such a common car being driven around these days. The technicians were rude. I will not be going back. read more

Very friendly service. Very quick and professional. I would recommend this place if all you need is a quick oil change.
