Took my son's car to PepBoys on Fry S to diagnose a rattle that we could not see because his car was so low to the ground. The mechanic was great, the manager Tenisha was awful!!! She should not have a client facing job. Rude and unhelpful!!! Pep Boys needs to secret shop that location and see what customers have to deal with. We have used that location before and been pleased. But never had to deal with that negative, mean attitude. Long story short she called to tell me a suspension part was loose and they would charge an hour labor to fix it. I agreed. She called back in 30 minutes to tell me it was ready. I then asked her if the mechanic looked at the motor mounts because another shop said that was the problem. She rudely said. No! That was not part of the suspension check. I said, can he look at them She said, no thats anither service. I said, with all due respect... you charged me an hour labor and I still have 30 minutes. She said, NO SIR. That will be another diagnostic fee. Me: ma'am, I paid an hour labor and there is still time on the clock. Her: sir, you did not pay to have the motor looked at Me: can you please ask the tech if he looked at them. Her: I will ask as a courtesy, but we charge for that. Me: thank you 10 minutes later... Her: He looked and the mounts are fine. No Problems found. Me: Thank you. I went to pick it up and she was just as negative in the store. Even very curt with the other female employee. Just plain mean As I walked out, I saw a technician parking a car. I asked him, did you happen to work on my son's civic? Him: Yes I sure did. Me: so, the mounts looked good? Him: Yes! Torquing the sway bar link took care of it. But, let me show you something, he opened the hood and pointed out an issue with an A/C line that was not located correctly after bodyshop work. Went in today to get a tire patch. They couldn't patch it and quoted me $400 for a new tire. I went to Discount Tire and they were able to patch it for free I might add. I called to let the manager know but there was no manager on duty for the rest of the day. You lost me as a customer today Pep Boys, me and the 7 cars at my house. I've tried to give them a few tries but unfortunately the women managers just aren't customer service oriented. Called at 9am to make an oil change appointment, they said they were fully open and I chose a 1pm slot. I arrived and was told that it's over a two hour wait due to walk ins and multiple techs taking lunch as the same time. At this location walk ins take priority, causing people with appointments to be pushed back. If you don't mind dropping off then the whole service and experience will likely not be an issue. They should change their location to a drop off only and advertise oil changes taking 2-3 hours. Very inconsiderate to waste people's time. I went to NTB instead read more

I booked an appointment for 10/11/2025 @ 8am for the Copperfield location. Drove 30 mins only to be told that their 2 master mechanics were both off and that I could not get my door latch fixed or have my radiator checked. And that I had to come back on 10/13 where both master mechanics would be there. (Why was I not notified before making a blank trip, courtesy call, and how do you run a business with the only 2 capable masters mechanics off at the same time?) My appointment got rescheduled for 10/13 @7am. 10/13, I arrived at 15 minutes before 7am, get both my car door latch fixed and my radiator checked. I was told that my door latch "MAY" have a sensor on it and they "MAY" have to order the part, and that my radiator needed to be replaced and would cost $1098. I didn't want to chance anything so I decided to let pep boys fix it. I was told by the manager that it would take a few hours and that I should come back. It was just me and one other customer. 8 HOURS LATER AND STILL NOTHING. So I decided to pop up, the morbidly obese Hispanic male at the desk could not answer two simple questions about the status of the my car or is it done, nor did he care to. The a Hispanic older gentleman "the manager" just so happens to walk in and I asked to see my car. They had replaced the radiator but broke ac that they were trying to fix without informing me of the issue. Then I was by the manager that they "WILL" fix it and that it would take a few more hours. (Keep in mind 7am, with a set appointment, no courtesy call about status, or problem, 8hours in I was told that I had to wait even longer, all while having to drag my autistic 8 yr old around this long, ongoing inconveniences). Finally around 5pm I was notified that my car was ready. Upon paying for my services, or lack there of, I asked the Hispanic morbidly obese gentleman about the nature of the warranty, and he replied "oh I don't know, I don't read that, or knows what it says. Thats a lot of information, it's on there somewhere." That's a common question that he should know. As for my door latch, NEVER GOT FIX OR EVEN CHECKED, because they were so busy ensuring that pep boys capitalize on making a profit for replacing my radiator. And how I know is the lack of information about my door. Did my door actually have a sensor on it? And do you have to order the door latch? And how soon would I be able to have it replaced upon ordering it? of the "MAYBE". So my door was never checked. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. I STILL NEED MY DANG DOOR LATCH FIX. I had some issues with my brakes and went to Pep Boys to have them serviced. I went in and was pleasantly greeted by Tranesia. She asked me the reason for being my car in and once I let her know she quickly got me prices. She explained all the different plans they had for brakes including any warranty. I picked a plan and around an hour or so later my breaks were done. I haven't had any issues and was completely satisfied. read more

I took my car to this location on Fry Road for an alignment. I have a lifetime alignment policy with them. After my vehicle was aligned, I was told that I needed a LF Camber bolt and a shim kit for the LR at a price of $407. Rather than approving this based on their observations, I told her I was going to take it to the dealer for a second opinion as I have never had to have this type of work done on my Lexus vehicles. I took it to Don McGill Toyota. They do a lot of alignments, have two bays that stay busy. The mechanic there put it on the rack, noticed that the tire pressures had not been equalized which is the first thing they do when putting it on the rack. He told me that could prevent it from being aligned properly. He thoroughly checked the items in question, said that they were fine and did not need to be replaced. He was able to perfectly align the car, getting all green scores on the printout. I am glad that I questioned this, did not need the work, saved $407, but did have to pay $120 for the alignment, when I already paid Pep Boys for a lifetime alignment policy. I have called the comment phone number on my Pep Boys invoice, also called their corporate number to express my concern about being told that I needed parts replaced that are in fact still good. I have not heard back from either one of them. Looks like I have two worthless alignment policies for both my cars. Hesitant to return there if they are going to try to upsell me when I take it in. read more

I came in for an oil change and was told the wait would be 3 hours for a walk in. So I asked if I could make an appointment for the next day, but was told I would have to drop the car off because they "overlap" bookings overnight, so even if they booked me an appointment I'd have to drop it off and can't commit to an actual time, and I explained that I don't have the ability to drop the car off and want to wait for the work to be done. So basically I was told that they couldn't plan their appointments and id have to drop my car off for an oil change. Front office staff were not very nice and rude in their demeanor. Would never come here again because clearly they don't seem interested in putting any effort to plan their work, and their attitude shows they clearly have no appetite for good customer service. I took my business elsewhere where the staff was much more welcoming, and where scheduling an appointment was not an issue. I would give 0 starts if I could because this is the opposite of what good customer service looks like. read more

We had just relocated to Houston, TX this week from Canada and had driven down. My car wouldn't start in the grocery store parking lot and I called AAA. The technician recommended Pep Boys. They were amazing! The manager drove me back to my hotel on his way home from work so I didn't have to call a taxi. When my car was ready we were out of town and they held it there until I could pick it up - no charge. My keys got misplaced and I didn't have a spare but the manager got a new key for me on the weekend so I had didn't have to wait for my car, despite the fact that it cost them big $$ for calling the locksmith on the weekend! This garage lives the Pep Boys philosophy of looking after you first and your car second. We will be regular customers while we are living here! read more

They did not put the spare back on my car after I purchased new tires!!! They put my spare inside my van on top of some curtains and breakable items instead of reinstalling it under my van. They did not know how to put the spare back on my Sienna minivan-one of the most common cars on the road. Do not come here. Absolutely terrible and unprofessional. I've never been this disappointed with service for my car care. Not only was the service terrible, the prices are way too high. After being told that it will take 2 hours to get an oil change and inspection, we dropped off my car and left. About 20 minutes later, they called and said that my car ONLY takes synthetic oil, which costs $70. I've had this car for 5 years and have never heard of that, my usual oil change costs half of that elsewhere. But because this location was more convenient and we already drove that far away, we took it anyway. About an hour later, they called again to say that my car failed inspection because of the windshield wipers. The guy gave me the option of a bad quality one for $29 or a good one (that will last 1 year) for $50. I took the first one of course. With the oil change, the inspection, and the windshield wiper, I left the place paying OVER $130. When we came back to pick it up, we stood around at the register/front for a while so that the guy could finish texting. Yep. Texting. He looked at me, said hi, then continued texting. Then when he was finally finished typing whatever story that took so long, we finally paid and left. I'll probably never be back to Pep Boys again. read more

I was in the area & decided to take my car in for an alignment. First, I was told that my car would be ready in 45 minutes so I went to the coffee shop that was at 20 steps away. In 45 minutes, I returned my car was in the same place I left it. Finally, they took my car in for service. I was told that I had an oil leak & the manager quoted me a price starting at about 1600-1200 (on the average). Finally, my car was done as it relates to the alignment. I started driving my car and it did NOT seem like I received an alignment for $160.00 (receipt not in front of me probably more). I feel like I wasted my time & my money. I initially gave this store a negative rating because of a very bad experience. Something that I choose to not remember and move on. I have raised my complaints to their corporate office and received a very satisfactory resolution about the issue. Ms. Angie Bavin. Vice President for Southwest Division was very empathetic and demonstrates sincerity towards the real issue. She listened, apologized and provided a fair and reasonable service recovery effort. I think as any company, there are mostly very good employees and of course there's a few that are bad. The action of one or two individuals does not necessarily represent the culture and the level of service orientation of the entire company. For that alone, I would give Pep Boys another shot. Probably not this store but another location. After all, my experience with many of their stores including that from another state has always been exceptional. read more

We kept passing by as we were running errands near this location and my car had not been touched or moved from the parking space it was in. So we decided to stop by and ask why. I will no longer go to this place it's a scam. I set up a 9:30am appointment to get there and then tell me it's going to be a couple hours. I set the appointment up for a reason I have work. Very jumpy to get all your money because this is a commission based company. Ask them to look at my rear wheel because I had a clicking noise just a hub or wheel bearing. Ya was that a mistake he came Up with a quote for 2400$ replacing front back brakes, all wheel bearing, all hubs. Oh it gets better had a leak in my tire the reason I set the 9:30 appointment get there for him to barely look at it then tell me he can't repair I must buy a new tire. I go down the street to discount out of frustration for them to repair it for free. So my family has been bringing their cars here for years. Jose is extremely competent and I trust him when he tells me something needs to be done. I always appreciate his letting me know what is a priority and what can wait because I'm usually broke . I made an appointment a week ago to bring my car in for an oil change at 9:00. When I dropped it off they told me it would probably take about an hour and a half. I killed time for over two hours, when I returned my car had not moved. No apologies, no explanation. I just don't understand why you offer appointments if those appointments are not going to be respected. If it's an issue of being short staffed tell me that when I drop it off I'll arrange for another time. I will not be bringing my car back. Worst tire install experience ever! Took over 4 hours (and we had an appointment!), they left off 3 of the 5 valve stems, every tire had a different tire pressure, and all of the lug nut covers were loose. It's a wonder it made it home! Will NEVER go back there. read more

I have taken all my previous and present car here for oil changes, new tires, alignments, ect. The first time I came here my car actually broke down right beside it and they took care of everything the same day! The guys in the front are so sweet and Jose is THE BEST!!! Being a student, he always makes sure i am comfortable with the price he is quoting me before we start any work on my car. I can understand the wait can be a little long at times BUT remember, this is the only pep boys in Katy! I usually sit at the Starbucks next door and wait and study until I get a call to come pick up my car. And less than 10 minutes I'm driving away legal and worry free. But the service didn't end there! Initially, I wrote a very poor review of this Pepboys because I felt like I paid a lot for a service that was not entirely completed (I was quoted $75 for a windshield wiper fluid refill and a fix for my driver's seat which rocked back and forth during acceleration but was actually charged over $200 when I picked up my car. Unfortunately, the seat still rocked slightly despite the tripled price tag which is why I wrote the first poor review). I am now choosing to remove that poor review because a week upon reviewing PepBoys, I actually received a phone call from Jose (manager of Pep boys) letting me know that he read my review and wanted to make it up to me. He even offered to fully refund me for my initial visit; I didn't feel right asking for a full refund though - I just wanted to pay a fair price for what I got. Having said all that, even just getting a follow up call meant a lot to me since very few businesses ever follow up on a bad review I leave for them. I usually just take it as my own loss to not have to deal with the hassle anymore. Anyway, two entirely new issues with my car came up (big plumes of blue smoke coming out from the tailpipe AND smoke coming out from the hood) and Jose and I were able to come to the compromise of fixing my new problems to little/no cost because of the drivers seat problem that I paid for but did not get completely resolved. He was also very friendly and professional about it the entire time and did not act bitterly towards me because of the first review I left. Update (11/8/2015) - Went in for the final diagnosis on the possible oil leak in my car causing all the fumes and got fantastic service from Jose at no extra charge. He definitely went the extra mile to make sure everything was okay with my car this time around and thoroughly explained everything he did during his inspection. He even offered to do a free additional checkup for my oil in 3 weeks, which was honestly much more than I expected out of my second visit. Jose has 110% changed my opinion about Pepboys and from what I can see is definitely working hard to run a credible business.I would recommend this location without any hesitation to others looking for car repairs/inspections. Update (08/01/16) - SO I'm changing my review again from 5 stars to 2 stars. This is because when I came in for my steering belt which was becoming soft from a leak, I was quoted $850 or so, which is A LOT of money. This is not what I had an issue with though - what I had an issue was is when I asked to get an itemized invoice and was refused (this was David who refused to give me a list of the services and parts). I was shocked that he said no, as I was going to use it to "shop around" in order to see whether there were better prices elsewhere. Instantly I was getting bad vibes again from PepBoys. I then called Jose directly who was able to reduce it to about $750 for me which I decided was an okay price for the fix (I did end up getting the work done with Pepboys). However, that one "no" David gave me was enough to lose me as a customer. I just don't trust this PepBoys at ALL anymore. What is the harm in giving a consumer an itemized invoice in order to shop around? There is something seriously sketchy about that. I finally found a local independent mechanic that I go to now. I highly recommend that you do the same. If you really can't find one, I recommend you don't speak to anyone at this Pepboys except Jose. Honestly, I feel that Jose should become his own independent mechanic rather than work for this crooked company. I would give Jose a solid 5 stars but Pepboys as a whole zero stars. read more

Incompetent and unprofessional. Took a car in 6/30 for running hot, engine fans not working and check engine light on. Picked car up 7/3 started it up and engine light still on!!! I'm IN THEIR parking lot and my ride has left!! I go inside to let them know and they hook it up to their machines and say it's nothing to worry about its a minor idling issue that won't interfere with my driving. I'm like "wtf!!" DAVE assures me it's not an issue an sends me on my way - it's near closing time. JOSE the manager is not there. Get home 1.5 miles away and the car is idling and revving. I'm livid. Take it back on YES July 4th and speak with JOSE. Dave says he didn't didn't speak to me LMAO says maybe I spoke with JOSE lol!!! Right!!! I tell them the fans are STILL not working. They assure me they are and I tell them it's now idling funny after picking it up. They figure out they didn't fix the fan after all - BIG SURPRISE !! Which was the issue in beginning (fans, engine light, running hot) AND they charge me for this NEW issue. I'm livid but I want a working car. So TWO WEEKS later I finally get the car due to issues of DAVE not following through on our conversations and STARTING the work when it came in!! I pay them a second incomprehensible fee for them not fixing my car the first time, creating a new issue and me fixing that! When I pick it up JOSE assured me it is working fine but he's leaving the country for two weeks and dumass DAVE is in charge (my adjective not jose's). I'm concerned and have lost faith in them after DAVE's attitude, lies, and failure to communicate properly. I had even called up there once and LARRY tried to hand the phone off to DAVE when JOSE wasn't there and I said "No Way!! He's an idiot. I'll wait and talk to Jose!" LARRY chuckled like he understood and said he'd leave a message to have Jose call me but he was just as unreliable or so is JOSE because I never got that call. I of course had to call back myself. But YES. You guessed it. Car doesn't work again. We have it towed to their shop because it's beyond their 25 mile radius and want to CHARGE US for the tow!!! I use AAA. This time they quoted me for over $2600 in new repairs including oil leaks that were never existent before they worked on the vehicle come look at our driveway and pavement in front of our house. Not a drop of oil!!!! This is absurd. They will NEVER touch a car of ours again. read more
