I feel bad for everyone who's had such a bad experience here, but I'm pleased to report that my first and only experience at Pep Boys was fantastic. Until a few days ago, I'd never even set foot inside of a Pep Boys, even though I've driven past this location dozens of times over the last few years. I grew up shopping at AutoZone and O'Reilly's, and there wasn't a Pep Boys in my hometown. These days, I'm team Advance Auto Parts all the way! But Pep Boys is now officially on my radar. I was actually on my way to the Elite event at Cacao & Cardamom when my TPMS light came on. I thought it was strange, so I stopped and got out to investigate. What do I spy but this HUGE screw stuck in my tire and bent at an odd angle. NOOOO! I call my friend Eddie S, to have him let Farrah know that I won't make it (boooo!) and I remember that Pep Boys is literally a minute away from the gas station I've stopped at, so I slowly make my way there. I pull up, and ask one of the employees for some assistance. It's somewhat slow, so they're able to get my SUV in right away. One employee comes in a few minutes later to inform me that due to the nature of the tire damage--the screw went in head first, which widens the hole and makes repair very difficult--the tech recommends a new tire. I'm honestly pissed, because this tire is the NEW one I bought a few months ago. But they were able to pull the nail out and plug the damage for now, and I have a little more time before I have to purchase yet ANOTHER new tire. I was in and out within 20 minutes, and they were gracious enough to not even charge me for the tire plug! I was even able to make a late appearance at the Elite event after all, just in time for chocolate and a little bubbly. Wins all around! read more

Customer service is awful and not willing to improve. Employee was very dismissive and didn't want to hear my complaint of website. He decided to walked away. When I asked him to simply listen so that he could take to his manager or corporate he said they don't care. Obviously he understands what an employee is. I was there for 9 hours without communication. They could improve upon the service, efforts, and professionalism. Unfortunately, The management and mechanic lied on the inspection report. They didn't do a walk through of the car and service. One mechanic was assigned my car but another mechanic signed off on the inspection that the assigned mechanic couldn't answer. My experience felt very scheme like. The management walked away and tried to make it seem like I told them what to do (as if I'm the expert....). They changed my battery and said, Your car wouldn't start because there's no gas... (This is while we are both looking at the half filled gas tank).... As that clearly was not true. Their other expert suggestion for why it wouldn't start was "keep trying to start it until it flushes the air bubbles out... that happens sometimes" Don't worry... I receive no answers from anyone claiming to be an expert there. No one answered the next 10+ calls either. read more

Simple battery replacement turned into damaged transmission. They swapped the battery and knocked the transmission vacuum hose out. Truck died and towed into another pep boys. Pep boys even tried to charge me for the second service. Irreparable damage to my transmission after this incident, $5,000 screw up that I'm responsible for now. read more

Ripp OFF and ghetto service. Had my AC messed up by this location a few months ago. 1600.00 and AC still doesn't work. But, i decided to check prices at another Pep Boys (maybe it is just this location that is sketchy?)...Jones Road Pep Boys said 900 to fix my power steering AC condensor. North loop location quoted 2600.00. I said why are all your part 3x what i can get from autozone or carparts? there was no answer. I needed some new windshield wipers and decided to buy them online to pick up in store. As soon as I submitted my order online, I received the order confirmation; and not two minutes later, I received another email telling me that my order was ready for pick up. I came a few hours later and walked in. There was a sign hanging on the ceiling that says "Online Purchase pick up here" with a picture of a finger pointing down. The problem is, it was pointing down at absolutely nothing! No registers, no desks, NOTHING! I don't even know why the sign even existed. Somebody asked me if I were there to pick up an online purchase. I told him and yes and he shouted at another staff member that I was there for pick up. The other staff member then went behind a help desk to look up my order and of course, my wipers were not ready because he had to go grab them. He then asked me if I was paying with cash or credit card. When I said credit card, then we had to move to the cash register to check out. The check out process was typical. I grabbed my wipers and walked out. Meh. Next time I'll stick with Amazon Prime so I don't have to deal with store staff who don't care for you. read more

Red Flag #1: When the reviews mention you should stay away, by all means STAY AWAY. Had an appointment scheduled yesterday, when I came into the appointment I was told that "no one is going to be in today to help you get your brake pads & oil changed" on 8/14/23. This was strange because why wasn't there ANYONE to help me get my maintenance done for this day. Red Flag #2: I decided to give it another shot today 8/15/23 in which they could redeem themselves. I had my appointment scheduled for 9:30 AM, so as I show up for my appointment on time, I was told by the front desk that "the guy who will be servicing your car for your brake pads & oil change won't be in till 11:00 am". Which boggles my mind because why have the system let me schedule an appointment for 9:30 AM when the damn person whose going to service my car won't be in till 11:00 AM??!! As upset as I was I still decided to wait after all, it should be quick and fast right? The guy who was going to maintenance my car finally came in and started to work on it. Red flag #3. The wait time here is so horrible. I cannot believe I waited/wasted 5 HOURS of my life from 9:30 AM till 2:30 PM to get maintenance on my car. It's like they do not have no sense of urgency at all and do not necessarily care if you have things planned outside of their location. Can you guys believe I MISSED WORK for what should've been an hour and a half at MAX. I wanted to express my frustrations to the manager so bad, however, I was just so glad that my car finished the maintenance it needed so I could get the hell out of there!!! I could not bear just one extra minute to be there. Overall the value of this location is just terrible. If anyone from corporate/managers/ business owners who actually care, please I beg of you READ the reviews and make CHANGES!!! There is no way that this location keeps having negative reviews back to back and yet nothing changes? Took my car here for a routine synthetic oil change. I dropped it off and a few hours later picked up my car and drove straight home and parked in the garage. A few hours later I left and parked at a park. Turns out, my car had leaked oil all over the garage and there was a huge puddle at the park where I was parked. I dropped the car off at Pep Boys after hours with a note explaining the situation. They opened at 7:30 the next day. I didn't hear from them until I called them around 10. At that time, they said it needed a new gasket, they replaced it, and my car was ready. A few minutes later, they called back and said the car was not ready because it needed a new plug. They claimed the plug was warped, they should have seen it and they'll replace it. They were trying to get a plug and it was delayed getting there. 2 hours later, Pep Boys called and said they replaced the plug, but it was still leaking because the oil pan was cracked. We took our car from them and brought it to our trusted mechanic. Turns out, the oil pan threads were stripped - not an issue PepBoys had pointed out. The only positive on Pep Boys part was they refunded us our oil change. read more

On 11/16 Pep Boys installed new brakes, rotated wheels and an oil change on my F-150 truck. On the morning of 11/18 (less than 50 miles after service) while traveling on 1-10 detected a drive train vibration. Immediately exited the freeway. Vibration worsened while looking for safe place to get out of active traffic. While still on active roadway left rear tire fell off. It stayed under wheel well and did not roll away. Called Pep Boys for assistance. They provided 1-800 # for towing. Towing service contacted me via text and said it would take an hour to retrieve me and vehicle. Fearing for my safety I managed to get jack under rear axle and lift truck up high enough to place tire back on. As all lug nuts were completely missing I took one lug nut from the other three wheels to place on left rear. It was there that I found that all lug nuts were hand tight. Drove the truck slowly back to Pep Boys that performed the service and explained to the manager Jose Loera the events leading up to now. The immediately put the truck on the rack. Left rear wheel was removed. Pep Boys repaired the damage to the left rear rotor, two of wheel studs where damaged to the point that the lug nuts would tighten. The I.D. of the rim was severely galled and the mating surface where wheel meets rotor was severely distorted. The manager Jose Loera did not feel the rim was safe to repair and advised he would try and find a direct replacement. Pep Boys later rang and advised they could not find a direct replacement wheel and would I like the spare put on so at least the truck was drivable. I advised them to put on the spare. At time of vehicle pick up manager advised they gave me 5 new custom lug nut to account for the ones that fell off and said it was unlikely they could find a direct replacement rim. He offered me a $400 credit. I declined the offer. My position is that the truck came in with four matching custom rims and that's how I expect to leave. The manager declined this and turned this over to his corporate claims department who wants to try and repair which is fine. Pep Boys has established a claim # 22023964108. It has been over four weeks and Pep Boys has not offered a resolution only stating verbally the local manager does not want to pay to replace all rims and the regional director will not give update on the repair. After retaining an attorney and sending Pep Boys a demand letter, today 1 month later I finally got the call that they had repaired the rim. This could have been much more serious resulting in injury or death should the wheel have fallen off at highway speed. DO NOT TRUST YOUR VEHICLE to this Pep Boys. I will never ever come back. read more

Although my car was still feeling off after the visit, the workers were able to resolve the issue and redo the alignment for me. I left my car for an oil change and rotation and was quoted 1.5 hours. I left it and called multiple times due to 1.5 hours coming and going. Each time I called I kept being told "within the hour." Pep Boys made no effort to proactively communicate the time delay or give me a heads up that it was on their radar....because it wasn't on their radar. After 3.5 hours, I finally ubered to pep boys and took my truck (still untouched) because I had to run other errands before other stores closed. I get it, people are busy. But an honest representation of timelines and capabilities would've saved me time and kept me from wasting my entire afternoon waiting on my truck that wasn't even touched (parked in the sane spot when I returned). read more

I have a 2017 Land Rover Discovery that I needed the brake lines bled on. So went to their website. Selected brake services, Selected my make a model of vehicle, then went to appointments and selected the first available of 11am. Later I receive a call saying "we don't work on land rovers, already have 4 bookings at 11am, and too busy to bleed my brake lines". Their website even offers a Land Rover mileage based maintenance plan... I've lived right down the road from this joke of a place for 8years and because it's my brakes needing to be bled I didn't feel safe going a longer distance. But every single time I've needed service it's been a disaster. They did a oil change for me once, well tried to, and after 60 min of walking around the store waiting they finally called me over and told me they were about to start my oil change. This is the most poorly ran place I've experienced. I'm surprised they're in business and I'll never make the mistake of TRYING to use them again. read more

Here's a phrase I never thought would spill out of my mouth: "I just had the best experience having my oil changed!" I didn't know where to go honestly, my only requirements were: 1. Not too far from work 2. Walking distance to food (I felt I was pushing my luck here) 3. Get the job done at a decent price So, I brought my car to Pepboys for an oil change during my lunch break. I also requested air in my tires since my tire pressure light was on (again). A little history about that light: Lately I've been making frequent visits to Discount Tire because the air pressure light kept reappearing. I presumed this was caused by the roads in Houston. They must have seen me 3 or 4 times in the past few months. That's a lot. I never thought much of it until I received a call from Jennifer at PepBoys only 20 minutes after leaving my car with them. She was calling to let me know they found a nail in my tire & wanted to know if I wanted to have it fixed. Immediately a million thoughts ran through my head: How long will this take? How long has the nail been there?? How much will this cost me!? And WHY didn't Discount Tire find this the first time... or the fourth? Yep, Discount Tire (the one on TC Jester @ 19th) never mentioned a nail in my tire- because they didn't check. It was about $13 to patch and $30 for my oil change/filter. I was back to work within the hour with a full belly since Whataburger is right next door. I drove away with an odd sense of accomplishment- I love killing two birds with one stone. I'm not the die hard discount tire fan I used to be. This Pep Boys is fast (yet thorough), friendly, and know what they're doing. read more

Inefficient! The only reason I go there is they are next to my house. Customer service leaves much to be desired. I replaced two tires, and they didn't inflate them. I am driving on low tires, came into the store in the evening and was offered to drop off the vehicle overnight! Like I have nothing to do the next day. Just reviewing based on getting a couple of parts here. I do like that it's bigger than your regular Autozone and O'Reilly, so I have a bigger selection than usual. However... I've had mixed reviews with helpfulness from the staff. I had one guy who seemed astounded that I missed the oil pans. Ok, so I don't go here every day and I gazed over it... My bad? I had another who kept talking with her friend, or a guy she was hitting on, as I stood at the cash register for about 4 minutes boring a hole into her back with my eyeballs. She saw me, then turned back around to finish her conversation. What the... I don't think I'd ever get any services done here. So far, the staff just doesn't inspire confidence or seem to care about customer service one way or another. There's an apathy that is exuded from each member. When I think of a good auto repair shop, I think of Discount Tire, where everyone jumps up to help you and has an energetic nature about them. But it's a good place to buy car accessories and parts, so I'll give it a third star. read more

I made an appt online today for 5pm. I checked that it was an AC issue and also checked that I had a Volvo. When I arrived, they said "oh, you made this appt online. We normally don't do AC issues this late. And actually, we don't do Volvos here either." I almost fainted from this 107 degree heat index today trying to get to their location in Houston traffic. Pep Boys staff was great with me today. I arrived at 8 a.m. on a Saturday morning (with an online reservation) Did a Mobil1 Synthetic oil change with a purolator one oil filter for my Honda Odyssey. Printed a $20 off coupon for the oil change. Oil change included a tire rotation as well. They completed the oil change and rotation in under an hour. All service guys (Andres and Juan) were super courteous and helpful. It helps to do a little some research ahead of time to figure out the best option for your car. My technician, Jorge, did an excellent job in taking care of my minivan by cleaning up oil spillage from the filter removal. He spent time showing me the location of the filter and verified that the filter I selected was the one he was installing. A+ job by the whole staff. read more

Quality of Service depends heavily on manager on duty. I have been a customer of their Green Trails store (Katy, TX) for over 10 years and recently I have noticed the quality of service depends heavily on who the manager on duty is. This past Friday afternoon, I stopped by with a flat tire and the lady manager told me it would have to wait three hours (without even looking at the tire), go to another store or come back the following day (Saturday). I came back the following day to be received by a ruder manager on duty who told me I would need to make an appointment for services on Saturdays (this was the first time I had been told that) and refuse to look ay the tire. I ended up going to another Pep Boys store (one mile or so away) where the issue was taken care after a while. read more

I had stopped getting my oil changed here as it takes a minimum of an hour to get done, even when you have an appointment, and the general unfriendliness of the staff. But I went back to get some new tires as they had the best deal on what I needed. I was told it would take 2 hours, and after an hour they called me to tell me they had not yet gotten the tires in from their warehouse, despite my having made the appointment 24 hours in advance. They eventually got them after four hours and put them on. There was no apology for the added inconvenience, and the attitude of the employees in general is one in which they hate their jobs and and the customers are just another annoying part of their day. $19 oil change after my pep boys rewards :) I have 2015 Hyundai Sonata. They also give fresh coffee for customers. I like this place because unlike other places they don't give you the " oh your car needs synthetic and it'll cost you $100" spiel. They give you what you want. For my car I like the regular oil not synthetic and I've gone to other places where they almost force you to get synthetic just because. read more
